Broadway and television stars Donna Lynne Champlin, Sally Mayes, and Valerie Wright will headline the world premiere concert of the new musical, THE CRINOLYNNS.

Greensburg’s Stage Right! and their GhostLight Initiative will present the show at the Carey Performing Arts Center on the campus of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 30th.

The musical revolves around The Crinolynns, a fictitious 1960s girl group. After 40 years away from the spotlight, they’ve reunited to debut a new act about the realities of life after the prom, getting a ring, and the cute boy. It features an original score with music in the style of The Crystals, The Chiffons, Carole King, and the other queens of the girl group genre. The show is described as a mashup of The Golden Girls and FOREVER PLAID.

THE CRINOLYNNS has music by composer/musical director Aaron Gandy and has a book and lyrics by award-winning actor/writer/director Laurel Highlands native Scott Logsdon. Logsdon conceived the show. "To collaborate with the Broadway stars we’ve assembled for our cast is a dream come true," said Logsdon. “It’s been a joy t0 write a show with three equally juicy roles for amazing singing actresses and to celebrate women of ‘a certain age.’” “We could not be more thrilled to be taking this next step with the Stage Right! GhostLight Initiative,” said Gandy. “We’re so grateful to Chris McAllister of Stage Right and to Gregg Brandt of Saint Vincent Summer Theatre for helping to make this happen. It’s always a pleasure to work with supportive and top-notch theatre professionals who provide top notch entertainment for their audiences.”

There will be performances at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $26 for adults, $24 for seniors, and $16 for students and are available by calling (724) 832-7464 or by visiting https://www.stagerightgreensburg.com/shows

This week St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA had a guest speaker who came to talk "Black Privilege." Stating that in today's America, Blacks have it very easy. Yep, you read that right... that's actually what he said.

So instead of only hearing the opinions of a white guy from Canada, we have 2 local Black women in studio to discuss "the speech" and how it's really stirred up some bad feelings locally. Pamela Cooper, an award winning artist and Tara Gandy, a therapist, counselor, and mother of an SVC student join us to shed some light on how this speech has put a very dark cloud above the campus at St. Vincent.

Hey Locals!

Coming to ya live from Pigeon Forge, TN! Today my sister, Jillian Hauser is sharing her journey from the depths of addiction to where she is now... Successful, clean, and responsible. The reason this episode is so important is because my sister hasn't been able to join in our family vacations because she was either on the run, in jail, or in rehab.

This episode is long and it's raw and there are some wild stories along her journey but I needed to hear them in order to finally understand what my sister was dealing with while I was building my own life. She's an open book and our hope is that someone who needs to hear this is inspired by her road to recovery. It is possible to be at the bottom and end up at the top as long as you're willing to put in the hard work.

I hope this episode is a tool to help people struggling with the same issues as Jill. I'm proud of her efforts every single day and thankful that I have my sister back.

Hey Local 724 fam!

We're making a few changes to the show to make it more engaging to the audience. How are we doing that?? While we will still have different business guests on, we will also be shifting our focus to include whole shows about topics submitted by YOU (the audience).

On top of that we will also be cycling through a few regulars that will act as co-hosts of the show. This will bring more guests, more topics, and a greater reach.

While we're not going to abandon the original format of the show, we will expand it to include these submitted topics that will focus on local ideas, community matters, current events, and more topical issues.

In order for this to work, we need you to be vocal! Leave comments on our weekly topic posts on facebook and Instagram. You can also email us at thelocal724@gmail.com

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Today we have a really good, kinda long, very deep, thought provoking episode for you. One of my best buds, Alisha Edwards is co-hosting and we have an awesome guest today. Tara Gandy, Greensburg native is here to tell us about her Therapy practice here in Greensburg and we talk all about a show that she hosts called "Moms with Brown Sons."

It's a very blunt, very uncomfortable episode... This episode is all about putting yourself in someone else's shoes.

We're talking about the racism that exists in not only America, but even here in our very own community. Some of you may agree, some may not. That's the way things go. But it's conversations like these that need to happen so that EVERYONE in the community feels welcome, safe, accepted, and supported.

This isn't your type of thing?? Cool, turn it off... no big deal. But from the uncomfortable comes growth, acceptance, and change. So I hope you stick around and listen with an open mind.

Welcome back, friends!

Today we have a really cool show for you. One of the coolest things that I've seen in the last few years of Greensburg's revitalization efforts is businesses teaming up to collaborate on projects. Today we're talking with 3 separate businesses about how they all got together and tackled a project. Ashley Lechman from Let Clutterfly teamed up with Nicole Szakos of Thrivent Financial to help clean and organize the cluttered offices of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Stephanie Babich was also here to tell us the world of difference that made to her organization.

It's a great one, so check it out and give it a share!

Based in Latrobe, PA, we created MNDFL Meals to offer fresh, tasty, and healthy meal options to the citizens of the greater Pittsburgh area. Having used many online meal prep services in the past, we disliked the amount of waste that came with each purchase - large boxes, plastic containers, dry ice/ice packs - and all for frozen meals that you really can't be sure when were cooked.

All of our meals are cooked fresh weekly, and then delivered straight to your door. This ensures all your food tastes like it was made in your own kitchen, cuts down on the waste of packaging, and saves you money on shipping. Not to mention, our containers are made from 100% compostable plant fiber and turn to soil within 90 days - how cool is that?! (and don't worry... they microwave fine and don't get soggy 😉)

Our menu items are crafted from locally sourced ingredients, fresh produce, and all under the guidance of certified health professionals - you can rest assured you are putting the very best into your body.

We are excited for you all to try what we've been cooking up and are confident you will enjoy every bit of it! If you have any questions, please contact us.

The Veteran Bushido Brotherhood is here to help veterans using fitness and community as tools to heal the mind and body. Founder, Jeric Fry, proudly served as a Marine for 9 years, through multiple deployments. He understands exactly what someone leaving the service is faced with when coming home. Our veterans feel alone, disconnected, and forgotten.

In the military, we learn that misery loves company and that the struggle is what brings people together. When we return, the struggle seems to be gone and the community that surrounded us went with it.

Here at The Veteran Bushido Brotherhood, we look to get you back into environments that push you, both mentally and physically. We want to help get you introduced to the plethora of fitness communities that exist near you! Activities like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and CrossFit are just a few of the options that we will support. Positive communities with activities that push us to be better!

"coaching for video games?" Yes. I was in the same position as you, thinking why is my kid watching some other kid playing a video game? Well, probably for the same reasons I watch Sidney Crosby play hockey... because I like it and he's a pro. Metafy connects the top players in the world with folks who want to improve their skill and rank in the gaming world. There is real money to be made and lot's of it. Time to show a little love to our awesome neighbors in the 412 (and beyond)!! We're talking with Sam Loutzenhiser & Stefanie Zizzo (Pittsburgh Volunteer) today about this incredible organization.

empowerHER is the only organization in the country specifically working to address the struggles of girls whose mothers have died, and we’re doing vital work.

empowerHER was formed in 2013 as a grassroots movement in a small town in Massachusetts in an effort to bring teenage girls together on Mother’s Day weekend. Today, empowerHER provides an integrated series of programming year-round.

EVENTS for GIRLS are community-based and non-therapeutic and serve to remind girls they are not alone in their grief.

Our MENTOR PROGRAM consists of caring + strong female role models who have also experienced mother loss and teach the girls + young women of empowerHER that their grief is survivable.

All programs and activities are provided at no charge to the family and are available both in-person and virtually for girls across the nation and around the globe.

Welcome back, friends! Today we're talking with Santina Murin & Katherine Mansfield, the co-creators of their book, Spilled Ink & Images. The book is a collection of poetry and images that the two created during the pandemic. The poems and photos have a very real and emotional vibe to them. Welcome back to the show, I hope you're all having an excellent start to the week. Today we have the pleasure of speaking with the Jim Bosco... He is the owner of Major Stokes restaurant in downtown Greensburg, although lately he's been operating more as a one-man-band. Please listen to this one and share it to everyone you know, because if anyone deserves the recognition it's Jim and crew at Stokes. From their incredible generosity and support to the community, equal pay structure, and officially earning the Gold Level designation as a Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant, Major Stokes is a very forward thinking and compassionate company. Today on the podcast we have Kelli Tamewitz and my BEAUTIFUL wife, Jessi Hauser! They're joined the show today to talk about the incredible local company that they work for, Bridges Hospice. The things that this company does for its patients and employees is unbelievable... there's no wonder why they've been awarded one of Pittsburgh's Top Workplaces for the last 8 years! Just one of my favorite things about this company is their PPG (Personalized Patient Goals) which basically amounts to a make-a-wish type program in which they grant a patients last wish... it's truly one of the most amazing companies I've ever heard of.    **Please take ONE second to hit the share button and show your support for local business and this very podcast.   Connect with Bridges Hospice at the links below!! https://www.bridgeshospice.org/ https://www.facebook.com/bridgeshospicepgh   Also, check out our sponsor for the show Brian Nicklaus Jewelry! https://www.instagram.com/brian_nicklaus_jewelry/ https://www.facebook.com/briannicklausjewelry

Happy Monday everyone! Today on the show we have our buddy, Brook Brewer. You may know her from being a member of The Trendy Bunny team, but she also runs a fantastic blog that gives you an inside look at what it's like to be a military spouse... It's called Proud Military Wife. She also partnered with CeCe Custom Design to craft earrings out of actual military uniforms. Uniforms that have seen the harsh elements, battle, loneliness, and defended our country. The earrings are one of the coolest things I've ever seen and with the story and meaning that comes with them, they're priceless. A cut of the proceeds from the earrings is being donated to Project Healing Waters, which is an organization that is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.

It's Friday and no there's no better way to slide into the weekend than with a quick Local micro-cast.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to do the podcast LIVE in front of an audience at the Love Local Courtyard Concert Series presented by the Westmoreland Cultural Trust and Palace Theatre. Along with Adam Seifert as my co-host, we interviewed 8 musical acts over 4 days (unfortunately had to cancel one night due to weather) during a socially distanced series of very small shows. I will be releasing one of these "micro-cast" episodes per week along with our regularly scheduled episode. Here's the 2nd installment of this series with David Distefano

What's up everyone, happy Monday! Today in studio we've got an incredible person that is giving us a real look behind the curtain at the COVID-19 crisis. We're talking 4 12 hour shifts for 8 weeks straight directly in the line of fire... I can't think of anything more incredibly selfless than that. Today we had a very interesting conversation with our guest, Dr. Yesh Navalgund. He's a pain management Physician, President, & CEO of DNA Advanced Pain Treatment Center here in Greensburg, PA. He reached out to me with some interesting information about how Coronavirus / Covid-19 is actually deterring people with other medical issues from going to be seen because they are fearful that they might catch the virus... So what do you do?? That's a tough call especially if you're someone with a compromised immune system and scared to chance it. Buckle up folks, this is a really great episode with a ton of great info!

The audio is a little rough due to circumstances

Last week we got the opportunity to speak to a goddamn superhero. Yep, a real one. Chad Taylor is a Pittsburgh nurse (Hempfield native) who took a relief position in NYC, the epicenter of the virus in the whole country for the next 8 weeks. He will be lending his expertise and relief to the thousands of healthcare workers that are desperately seeking a much-needed rest. This is something that is just absolutely incredible to me, the selflessness that chad and millions of other healthcare workers in the world are showing is truly a gift to us all.

This is a subject that I take very seriously, I have strong opinions about how I think this should be handled in the safest way possible. While most people this week are on Facebook arguing whether to ease the lock-down order, people like Chad are out there putting their lives at risk to help the people who got infected. If the experts are saying stay home and keep social distancing, you owe it to these incredibly brave people to listen.

Please follow and support Chad in his journey at the link below. Send him an encouraging message every once in a while or ask how you can donate to his fundraiser to support the healthcare workers of NYC. They need it.

Guys... it's episode 20! Today we had our good buddy Jess Hickey from the Downtown Greensburg Project jump on to give us some great news about small businesses amid the health crisis we're currently facing. If you want to do something to support local businesses but don't know what to do, Jess has some pretty great ideas. Also, we talk about the Little Free Pantries around town and how absolutely IMPORTANT those are right now... people are using them and they need to be stocked daily. So, please consider donating food or visiting this link to purchase something from the Amazon wishlist that will be delivered to Jess and she will personally stock the Little Free Pantries. Last but certainly not least... we're talking about how you can also support our businesses as well (Downtown Greensburg Project & The Local [724 podcast]) by visiting our websites and buying branded merch! There are all kinds of things to pick from... t-shirts, hats, hoodies... You get the point.

I'm proud to share the mics with these two very talented guys. Evan Dinsmore (Barber to the stars) & Brian F. Henry (Award-winning Photojournalist) popped into the studio to talk some shop, professional journeys, and have some fun. Brian is sitting in with us today as a co-host so we can grill Evan in tandem... just to see if he's cool enough to sit at our lunch table. lol

I've known Brian since I was about 5 years old and we've been best buds ever since. Evan came to us as a friend a little later in life, probably because we couldn't handle all of that awesome at once. Evan is a super talented barber doing what he does best from the Comrades shop in Irwin. If you're lucky enough to call even one of these dudes a friend, then the friend gods have smiled down upon you. It's a fun hang-sesh type show that should put a smile on your face and prompt you to call your BFF to catch up over a beer.

Today in studio we have two very talented women behind the Westmoreland Ballet Company. Judy Tubbs and Maggie Black stopped in to talk with me about their newly acquired space and the new home of the Westmoreland Ballet Company. Recently founded, but rooted in tradition with 35 years of experience, Westmoreland Ballet Company is a Greensburg based nonprofit ballet school that is building a professional performing company. Founded by visionary women, the volunteer operational board to provide a high-quality, comprehensive ballet program to enrich both the community and the artists themselves. We currently have classes for all ages of dancers, with plans in the works for an early-release high school program and dual enrollment for university credits.

I had a blast with these two and loved to learn that they're taking a new approach to show the importance of dancing as well as education. I truly hope that you enjoy this episode as much as I did!

Milwaukee native, Ryan Abel is a Director, Filmmaker, & Photographer based here in Pittsburgh. He's the epitome of hard-working creative. I've known Ryan for about 6 years and I'm very proud to call him one of my best friends... There are only a handful of folks in this world that can inspire me to work as hard as possible, be introspective, and know my worth all within one conversation... He's one of those people.

I couldn't be more proud of him and his short film, We Come In Peace. It's an incredible look at the folks that descended on a small town during #StormArea51 movement that took place on September 20th, 2019. Ryan's film shows us that while being interested or fascinated by fringe topics, we're all human and we're here to have fun and enjoy life.

Today in studio we are hyped to have Kelli Brisbane from the Westmoreland Cultural Trust. We had an amazing conversation about all of the upcoming events happening here in Greensburg and the shows at the Palace Theatre. We also discussed how the Cultural Trust is not only doing incredible things for the Greensburg community, but they're also reaching out and getting involved with surrounding communities to help spread the love of local art and community support. I can tell you that without the Cultural Trust, this podcast wouldn't exist. They've supported me as a local artist and provided me with an affordable space that I made my own. The next time you're out walking the streets of Greensburg, drop by the Westmoreland Cultural Trust and take a look at all of the amazing things that they're doing here... for instance, Art in the Alley. There's way more going on in Greensburg than I ever knew and it's only getting better. What a time to be alive, folks.

Make sure to connect with the Westmoreland Cultural Trust through their website and all of the social outlets to stay up-to-date with everything happening in town!
