The Shores Church desires to see people live a life anchored to Jesus.
Through this podcast, you will be able to hear our Sunday morning sermons, and special teachings from Scott Laurain (our Lead Pastor.) We hope these teachings will help you live your life by Living Anchored!
In this message, we will explore a pivotal moment in early church history: the disagreement over salvation by faith as seen in Acts 15. This passage begins with men from Judea teaching that circumcision according to Moses' custom is required for salvation, sparking a heated debate. Despite theological differences, Paul and Barnabas demonstrate how to handle disagreements without dividing the church. We will discuss the importance of maintaining doctrinal purity and unity within the church.Key points include:- How To Pick The Right Fights: Differentiating between "good" fights involving bad theology and "stupid" fights based on opinions.- How Is Someone Saved: The disagreement highlights the conflict between faith alone and additional requirements.- Defense Against Bad Theology: Knowing and living out good theology helps combat false teachings.
Join us as we explore Acts 14 and uncover key principles of a faithful mission through the journey of Paul and Barnabas. Discover how they boldly shared the Gospel, endured opposition, remained humble yet confident in the Spirit, always sought God's kingdom, and focused on developing leaders. This sermon challenges us to redefine success in ministry, emphasizing faithfulness over traditional metrics. Let's delve into how we can apply these lessons in our own lives and churches to fulfill God's mission.
Today is part one of Paul's first missionary journey. Luke shifts the spotlight from Peter to Paul. In this transition, the storyline quickly shifts from the gospel’s impact in Jerusalem to the gospel’s influence throughout the entire Gentile world, fulfilling Jesus’ final words.
Today we discuss the end of chapter 11 and into chapter 12 with the murder of James and the deliverance of Peter. Will we be people of prayer or people who can do it ourselves?
This week, we cover Acts chapter 11 and see how Peter addresses the critics in the early church movement. Unlike some of the critics, could we allow God to change our minds to allow God's way?
Today we see two miracles happen as we end Chapter 9. We then cover the entire Chapter 10 and see something new happening...
In this powerful video, we delve into the timeless message of Acts 9 and explore the profound question, "Can God really use me?" Join us on a journey through the transformative story of Saul's conversion to Paul, where we witness the incredible ways in which God can use even the most unlikely individuals for His purpose.Discover the depth of God's grace and mercy as we unpack Saul's encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus and his subsequent transformation from a persecutor of Christians to one of the most influential apostles of all time. Through Saul's story, we learn that no one is beyond redemption and that God's plans are often far beyond our understanding.Whether you're struggling with feelings of inadequacy, doubt, or fear, this message offers hope and encouragement. You'll be reminded that God's power is made perfect in our weakness and that He delights in using ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.Join us as we explore the timeless truth of Acts 9 and discover the answer to the question, "Can God really use me?" Prepare to be inspired, encouraged, and empowered to step boldly into the purpose that God has for your life. Don't miss out on this life-changing message!
Today, we read about Simon and his desire to harness spiritual power, even to the point to pay for it. This is where we see the ministry of Philip take place.
When persecution happens, the church grows. We see the Apostles be persecuted and more are being added to the number. Can we as the American Church position ourselves to potentially receive persecution so more can be added?
Stephen is talking to the high priest and somewhere in the conversation he says, "You stiffed-necked people!" Take a listen to see how the rest plays out.
We are in Acts Chapter 6 now and we follow the journey the apostles are making in their commitment in following Jesus. Today, we talk about sticking to your yes.

Today we cover Acts chapter 4 and why prayer is still relevant even today. Pastor Scott breaks this down in 5 different ways.

Today we cover the power of Prayer. We discover that once unlocked, Christ's power is unstoppable!
We will survey the New Testament using the book of Acts. What does that mean? Outside of the Gospels, the rest of the New Testament is essentially contained in the Book of Acts!
Our very own Dave Sword brings an inspiring message about the two men that walked and talked with Jesus. This story is found in Luke 24 and Dave breaks down the journey the two men had with Jesus.
We end this series on Christmas Eve with the Story of Mary. In the genealogy we don't see Joseph, the father of Jacob. Instead we see Mary as, Joesph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.
Today, we cover the story of Bathsheba. We retell the story of David's mistakes and yet we see 'David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah’s wife' in the genealogy.
This week, we cover the story of Ruth. Ruth is the great-grandmother of King David. But as we will see, Ruth’s story could have turned out very differently.
In week two of 'With Us To Redeem Us', we cover the story of Rahab. Although her story starts in a challenging place, God uses her powerfully.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas season, we want to take a look back at the women mentioned in Jesus' genealogy in Matthew 1.When we take a closer look we see some interesting stories jump off of the pages of the Bible, and it shows how Jesus came to save everyone! Welcome to The Shores Church Online! This week we conclude our three-week focus on prayers by discussing the prayer, "God, Search Me". This week, Pastor Nick leads us in a powerful message on this prayer.

What if God's greatest blessings come from God's greatest breakings?
Pastor Scott continues talking about our prayer life, by challenging us to pray "God, Break Me". When we pray this, our hearts will be broken for what breaks God's heart!
Pastor Scott was inspired to preach this message after listening to a recent Craig Groeschel sermon. While several ideas have been borrowed, it has been reworked to represent the time we find ourselves in, and Pastor Scott's/The Shores Churches experiences. Please go to www.MyShores.Church to give to The Shores Church at this time!
As The Shores Church moves online due to Covid-19, Pastor Scott starts the next phase of our Rhythms series. He is discussing prayers, and begins with discussing why we should pray "God lead me" instead of "God use me".
Pastor Scott is continuing our series of "Rhythms" by talking about Service in the church. This week's message is entitled "Play Your Part". The three main points for this message are... 1) Know Your Role, and Stay In Your Lane 2) You Can’t Do it All!!! 3) Delegating Leads To Multiplication
Listen in to our Sunday morning message from March 8th as Pastor Scott discusses a Church That Serves. His main points were...
Today on the Living Anchored podcast, Pastor Scott discusses the importance of practicing righteousness from 1 John 3.
Listen as Pastor Scott discusses the various types of fasts, durations of fasts, and things to pray over during a fast. Then Pastor Scott concludes by challenging the church to try fasting this week. He encouraged us by saying there is no wrong way too fast, as long as we follow the command of the Holy Spirit.
As we continue in our "Rhythms" series, we started a two-week discussion on fasting. Listen in as our guest speaker, Pastor Grant Williams, shares about why we should humble ourselves and fast.
In this message, Pastor Scott discusses our final core value, Common Unity. In order to have common unity as a church, we must…
1) Hear and take in the Scripture
2) We must see God Move
3) We must touch with our hands.
Listen in as Pastor Scott shares from 1 John Chapter 2. He discusses what must be done for us to walk in the Light!
If you read the Bible with any consistency I'm convinced you will come to the same conclusion I have… God is extremely, wildly, over the top, out of this world GENEROUS! John 3:16 (ESV) tells us that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.
God loved us, so He gave. This is the story of the Bible. The first pages of the Bible tell us about the fall, and the rest of scripture tells us about our redemption story. With that knowledge, we as His people need to be not just generous people. We must be Joyfully Generous.
Listen as Pastor Scott goes through the Bible sharing examples of Joyful Generosity, and then challenges The Shores Church to be individuals who take joy in their Generosity.
In this message, Pastor Scott shared about our third core value: Intentional Discipleship. He took a look at 7 things that the Bible teaches about discipleship...
GibLoves peace. – You are not trying to intentionally create division..cott breaks down James 3:13-18. He discusses how Godly wisdom is...
Pure, Loves Peace, Thinks about others, Obeys, Is full of mercy and good fruit, Is fair, and It doesn’t pretend to be what it is not.
Listen as Pastor Scott continues discussing The Shores Church Core Values. In this message he shares Value #2 - Experiencing Christ. This message is based on Matthew 8 and touched on the following points...
Point #1 - Go To Jesus Directly (Matthew 8:1-4)
Point #2 - Growing Faith (Matthew 8:5-13)
Point #3 - Multiplication (Matthew 8:14-17)
Point #4 - Always Room For Growth (Matthew 8:23-27)
Point #5 - Not Everyone Who Hears Will Receive (Matthew 8:28-34)
Point #6 - What’s The Cost? (Matthew 8:18-22)
Listen in on a quick study from Pastor Scott about living Self-Controlled Lives. Pastor Scott talks from the second and third chapters of Titus that in order to be who God designed us to be, we must be self-controlled. Take a few minutes to listen in to God's word today!
As a church, we must value “Every Person.” We must seek out each and every person because they matter to God. We must not operate with prejudice in our hearts, because Christ didn’t when He came for us! Everyone has issues and problems and we must go after them all.
You may be passionate about kids. Go after them. You may be passionate about addicts, go after them. You may be passionate about those with logical brains, go after them. You may be passionate about those with emotional reasoning brains, go after them. This is the very reason why we must all work together, we need each other, so we can reach every person!
Listen in as Pastor Scott teaches about this Value of "Every Person" by using Matthew 16:13-20 to show how Christ wanted His church to advance even in Caesarea Philippi.
In this new series, Pastor Scott will be discussing Spiritual Rhythms.
When you get into a rhythm, things become automated and natural. There is a common phrase used by musicians "Playing in the pocket."
The meaning is to keep the groove consistent and never lose timing. You may never know when a musical group is truly in the pocket, but if they are out of the pocket you will know something is wrong. In order to stay in the pocket a couple of things must be working correctly…
1) Tempo 2) Accuracy 3) Patterns 4) Listening
As Christians, we need to keep our spiritual rhythm "in the pocket." In this message, Pastor Scott shares how worship needs to become our lifestyle, and not just something we do.
At some point in our life, most of us have wondered if we have done enough to make it into heaven. We struggle with knowing if our relationship with God is on good terms.
It is very likely a similar thought process went through the minds of the shepherds in the Gospel story. Due to the culture at the time they felt 1) Unworthy 2) Inadequate and 3) Unloved.
**The beautiful thing about the Gospel message is that we cannot earn God’s acceptance by observing the Law. We can only earn is through Jesus. When the shepherds saw the Angel, they heard “Fear Not… Your Savior has been born!” Today, you don’t have to doubt where you stand with God, because your Savior has arrived!
Take a moment and listen in to what God wants to speak to you today.**
Often times we hear that God is full or wrath in the Old Testament and grace in the New Testament. But is that actually true? Pastor Scott digs into Genesis Chapter 5 to give his take on the question.
In week two of our “Fear Not…” series Pastor Scott discusses the fear of “what people think about me”
We looked at the Christmas story through the perspective of Joseph. The unexpected news from Mary was going to change how people looked at and viewed Joseph. He was going to have a choice of either pleasing people or pleasing God. He correctly chooses to please God.
But what about you? Will you choose to care more about what others think about you, or what God thinks about you? Take some time to listen to this message and be challenged to put God first!
In this podcast we’re starting a new, three-part sermon series called "Fear Not..." We are going to look at three different times when angels appeared to people during the Christmas Story. And you’re going to notice the very first things these angelic beings will say will always be “Fear not...”
Today we will look at Luke 1:26-35 when an angel appears to a teenage, virgin girl named Mary. Our focal point is going to be the fear of what God has planned for us. The key thought Pastor Scott wants you to walk away with is that Interruptions are often God’s Invitations for something greater in our life. When you sense an invitation from God run with it, because His purpose is greater than our plans!
