Good Beer Bad Movie Night: Recent Episodes

Good Beer Bad Movie Night

Usually we watch terrible movies and drink great beer. Sometimes the movies are better than bad, but the beer is always delicious. All the while we sit and talk about the beers, the movies, and any random stuff that just pops in there.

The long awaited episode 20 is out and what a fun adventure this episode is! We had two guests on that joined us remotely from New Jersey (home of The Toxic Avenger), BJ from "Average Joe Comic Show" and Ricky from Orange. BJ is Reuben's younger brother, and Ricky is one of his best friends, whose become friends with BJ over the years. Both our guests are HUGE superhero and comic book fans, so this seemed like the perfect episode to get them on board for.

Unfortunately, Mike was super sick (not COVID, he got that later), so he wasn't his normal plucky and funny self, but the dude soldiered on and got it done!

Besides getting into Troma Pictures we chatted about all sorts of things including magic mushrooms, ass wiping habits, and weed (as this was the very first edition of Good Weed Bad Movie Night).

A fun thing we introduced in this episode was beer battles. We chose 4 specific types of beer from Melbourne while BJ matched those styles with beer made in New Jersey and drank them against each other to find out where the better beer lies. It's a totally opinionated thing that really means nothing, but we had a lot of fun doing it.

Beers were purchased from Saint Bride and Craft Republic and were: - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Moon Dog Brewery & Run the Jewels No Save Point Hazy IPA - Czig Meister Brewing Deep Sea Series Calescent NEIPA - Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing Hazy IPA - La Sirene Brewing Funq IPA - Bolero Snort Brewery Orange Vanilla Bullsicle Milkshake IPA - Hope Brewery Imperial Lemon Lime Sour - Beach Haus Brewery Sunny Sour Kettle Sour Ale w/ Guava Plum & Tangerine - Dainton Brewery Twist & Stout Chocolate Pretzel Stout - Three 3's Brewing Raz Attacks Stout

The weed that was had was: - Ice Cream Cake - Chocolate Banana - Reuben's Old Dusty Weed (2010 vintage)

We get real deep and emotional real fast on this one as it was recorded deep in the heart of our second (and longest) lockdown. We certainly touched on how doomed humanity is...

We had a catch up lightning round where both of us commiserated about the difficulties of home schooling. Mike was watching a bunch of documentaries and struggled to deal with an overwhelming sense of gloom and doom. Reuben started the Lockdown recuperating from a minor surgery, then pitched a horror film, and helped Thy get the garden turned into a mini "urban farm." Our conversation continued on and got more light hearted as we progressed, and as it would turn out Mike's been successful at getting his Dad into craft beer!

We both loved this movie, as it provided us with some much needed laugh therapy. As ridiculous and weird this movie is, it's actually quite well done. We picked this one because we are starting a double header of comic book movies and Reuben wanted to do this one based off a Manga from the mid 90's.

The beers came from the amazing folks at Beer 360 and were delivered on the same day they were ordered! They were: - Founders Brewing Mas Agave Imperial Lime Gose - Westside Ale Works The Bridge NEIPA - 3 Ravens Brewery Creme Brulee Milkshake IPA - Moon Dog Brewery Timothy Tamothy Slamothy Chocolate Biscuit Milk Stout

About a week or two before we slid into our second lockdown we were able to wrap up our double header of family episodes we were lucky to be able to head on over to Mike's place and record with both our families together and watch "Cats." An uncompromised nightmarish vision with only a hint of a story and a strong sense uncanny valley from start to finish. Between Mike's partner, Thuy, looking up what the plot was and some notes from "Cats" Super-Fan, Simon-From-North Brunswick, we were able to parcel together some semblance of a story. Maybe if there was a 1/3 less singing and they replaced that with dialogue that explained the story and characters this would be slightly more watchable...

The only reason Mike's kids wanted to watch this was to see Taylor Swift, whom Reuben has never heard any of her music let alone know what she looked like. We remarked on Jennifer Hudson's incredible performance and director, Tom Hooper's career.

Beers were purchased from Mr. West in Footscray and were: - Mash Brewing Copycat AIPA - Dainton Brewery New Age IPA - Garage Project Cat's Pajamas - Sobah Beverages Finger Lime Cerveza - Dainton Brewery White Chocolate NEIPA - Yulli's Brews/Moon Dong Brewery Major Mac Spiced Fig & Coconut Milk Stout

Here it is, the first ever all family episode! It took a lot to record this one since it was also our very first remotely recorded episode, complete with lots of technical difficulties and antsy children. Speaking of kids, we had some non-alchoholic beers and a mocktail for them to try. This was Mike's kids' first exposure to "Star Wars." It probably wasn't the best starting point for them... For Reuben's kids, they are "Star Wars" obsessed, so they were super keen to watch it, even though they knew the poor reputation it has. Due to the presence of the kids we made it all the way to the hour and 52 minute mark before we started swearing.

While watching it, Reuben drew lots of comparisons to the original "Clone Wars" cartoon by Gendy Tartokovsky. We also chatted about our fun times at the water park, Funfields, racing each other on a waterslide dubbed, "The Kraken. We both happened to be eating roast duck dishes that weekend. Reuben had a humble brag about his smoked Peking duck he made while Thuy made a Vietnamese roast duck with rice porridge.

After the film ended and the kids went to bed our chat continued. This was recorded just at the end of the first wave in Melbourne, so we had a good old Coronachat. We both predicted the second wave with absolute certainty (it hit us 6 weeks after recording). We also talk about China (future overlords, please don't arrest us...).

Beers were purchased from the very friendly folks over at Mr. West. - Sobah Beverages Lemon Aspen Pilsner - Sobah Beverages Pepperberry IPA - Hop Nation Brewing Co. Site FP 2019 Wine Series Muscat Golden Sour Ale - Hop Nation Brewing Co. Site FP 2019 Wine Series Riesling Golden Sour Ale - Haand Brygerriet Dark Force Imperial Wheat Stout

Recorded back in early March when everyone thought the Coronavirus was some far off problem; we were getting excited for the release of Kong Vs Godzilla and had a kaiju double header. Shin Godzilla being the Godzilla half of it, and another edition of Good Beer GOOD Movie Night.

Here we are joined by Reuben's "nephew" Henry-From-Sunshine, where we open his eyes to the world of craft beer. He also tells us about his adventures in New Zealand producing his first international music video for Ben Hazelwood's "Lay Me Down." We finally give Brandon and Corey-from-Houston(Reuben's cousin and wife) their long over due congratulations on their nuptials. We also congratulate Marcus-from-Kingsville on the birth of his daughter. We got some great listener responses from Pete from the American Good Beer Bad Movie Night where he teaches us what an actual farmhouse ale is.

While the movie plays out we draw correlations to Neon Genesis Evengelion (the film shares the same director), discuss how Godzilla evolves like a Pokemon, and laugh at Japanese bureaucracy. Conversation also shifts towards urinals in the US vs Australia. Reuben's discovery of P.O.O.F. (Pride of our Footscary) Bar, and his sister, Uri-from-Boston's, quest for a bathroom on her last visit here. This obviously leads to the three of us trading off our gayest memories. We also discover a style of beer that Mike doesn't like.

Beers were purchased from Mr. West, Bottle House, and the Thirsty Cafe and Bar and are as follows: - Kaiju Beer Paradise Pilsner - Kaiju Beer Krush Tropical Pale Ale - Kaiju Beer Main Squeeze Passion Fruit & Guava Ale - Garage Project Brewing Company Shin Rin Yoku - Tallboy & Moose Make Beer/Mr. West Snotgoblin Cryo IPA with Passion Fruit - Kaiju Beer Metamorphosis IPA - Kaiju Beer Aftermath Double IPA - Kaiju Beer Behemoth Double India Black Ale - Left Barrel Brewing Cerberus American Barelywine - Little Bang Brewing Company Galactapus Barleywine

Big thanks to Reuben's other cousin, Barry-From-Tepusquet Canyon for fixing the audio on this one. The man's true wizard!

For episode 15 we had a new guest on the show, Marcus from Kingsville. When we recorded this (pre-Corona, which we laughed off as some distant threat) Marcus was on the cusp of fatherhood, and Phil & Pemmi from Ascot Vale had beautiful baby boy(you noticing a bit of pattern here?). Marcus is heaps smarter than both of us and raises the IQ of the show 10 fold by being included. We marveled at his myriad global travels and incredible multilingual skills, and to hear more about him we have an interview of him up on the Mad Alice Media Patreon page.

Back when we were planning for this episode to come out in March we wanted it to line up with the release of Kong Vs Godzilla, well that's been pushed to November, but our Kaiju double header is here anyway. starting off with the Giant Ape focused one here. While the movie runs its course we comment on the lead actress' absurd costume choice (Mike won this round of where's booby the first time her breast accidentally fell out), how crazy the fact is that everyone in this universe speaks Cantonese, Kevin Smith, Google's deep fake and deep dream, the "incredible" films coming out of Uganda by Isaac Nabwana (who's films we will cover on this show at some point), drugged up Panthers and animal exploitation in general (especially the exploitation of giant apes and kaiju), Curb Your Enthusiasm, taboo sexual relationships, and the Shaw Brother's illustrious careers.

Another fact about Marcus is he has celiac desease, this means that we had to drink all gluten free, which included 4 gluten free beers, 2 ciders, and 3 cocktails. The beers and ciders were from Mr. West in Footscay, Bottle House in Balaclava, Thirst Cafe and Bar in Sunshine, and the BWS in Braybrook. - Two Bays Brewing Pale Ale - To Øl Repair Beer - Two Bays Brewing IPA - Mikkeller Beer Space Race NEIPA - Rikorderlig Cider Premium Passion Fruit - Kaiju Beer Golden Axe Cider

Here's our February episode coming to you 2 months late. Here we watched the 2018 Razzie winner for worst picture, "Holmes & Watson," and boy was it hard to get through. Thank goodness it was just shy of an hour and a half.

This was recorded while Australia was on fire and we spoke about how there's probably better places to send your money than to Celeste Barber's gigantic famous people fundraiser. We start this episode off with Reuben giving Mike a present. Once the movie was going we debated the pronunciation of Ralph Fiennes, discussed Will Ferrell's hits and misses, John C. Reilly's inability to give a bad performance, Reuben's online chess matches with Jonah from Jersey City and Brian from Colorado, and how Jonah had made a Holmes & Watson spoof when he was in high school and how it was probably leagues better than this trash. Our discussion after the movie moved towards our children. How Reuben's kids have picked up on the word, F**k, due to the podcast and an instagram story from their uncle Elan from Jersey City. How Mike's kids have an irrational fear of dogs, but if one seems okay and the other freaks out they both end up freaking out, it's a twin thing. We also talk about Star Wars and the conclusion to the Skywalker saga and how much Reuben's kids enjoyed the whole Star Wars Journey.

If you'd like to here about our takes on a good movie, "Dr. Sleep," then go check out our video review we did with Cassten from Bulleen here, https://youtu.be/mN1_2Vwj8BE Hopefully do more of these after the 'Rona leaves.

Before getting to Mike's to watch the movie we went to Bodriggy Brew Pub and had some awesome beers. Once we got back to Mikes here's the list of beers we had to help us get through this awful movie(Beers purchased from McChoppins Abbotsford, Bottle House, and Thirsty Cafe & Bar): - Stomping Ground Brewery Gipps St. Pale Ale - Queit Deeds Brewing & Tallboy & Moose Make Beer All Work & No Play DDH Hazy DIPA - Lindemans Framboise - Prairie Artisan Ales Lil Nap Blackberry & Lime Sour Ale - Your Mates Brewing Donnie Darkale

Strap on your time machine caps and head back to January when this episode was supposed to come out!

Here, we were joined by friend of the show, Phil from Ascot Vale and his dog, Louie and cat, Oscar. Upon recording this episode he was on the cusp of fatherhood and we showered him with our saintly advice, although Mike did regale us of his horror stories of having twins. In honor of the film award season that just passed the duo decided to watch a couple of razzie winners (?) starting with the very first razzie winner, "Can't Stop the Music." We have to say thanks to Joe from New Jersey for helping us acquire this film.

While distracting ourselves from watching this train wreck of a movie we discover that both Reuben and Mike are shy poopers. We try to remember what Elan from Jersey City taught us about the term "Plato" in regards to beer and wine tasting. We also start the year off wrong by offending almost every demographic possible, especially the LGBTQIA+ community and are egregiously apologetic (trigger warning), sorry Uri from Boston! We spoke a little bit about Jonah and Natalie from Jersey City's wedding, from which Reuben had recently returned from. We also found it very funny that the straightest man in this movie was played by Caitlyn Jenner. We also try and decide which Village Person is our favorite, and couldn't help but notice all the glorious mustaches.

After the film finished we had an encore presentation of a David Black produced documentary about his own filmmaking escapades, "A Night at the Movies: Indie Style." We were not kind in the dissection of it.

In an attempt to stick with the theme of this being quite a homoerotic film, we lined up a solid list of gay beers purchased from Purvis, Beer 360, Bottle House, Thirsty Cafe and Bar, and McCoppins, and are as follows:

  • Holgate Brewing Millennium Falcon Empirial IPA
  • 3 Ravens Brewing & Mr. West Peak Hype TCDHWGSCBBMOCSNEIPA
  • Tiny Rebel Brewing Peaches & Cream Creamy Peach IPA
  • Coconspirators Brewing & Froth Magazine The Editor Passion Fruit & Guava Hoppy Sour
  • Moon Dog Brewery David Boysenbowie Sour Ale
  • Brooklyn Brewery Bel Air Sour Ale
  • Sailors Grave Brewing Down She Gose
  • Mr. Banks Brewing Mango Kettle Sour Ale
  • Bridge Road Brewers Magical Christmas Unicorn Ice Cream Ale
  • Big Shed Brewing Golden Stout Time

We've made it to 12 episodes, and boy do we have a doozy for you to celebrate a year of Good Beer Bad Movie Night (Australia style). Reuben can hardly contain his excitement for The Rise of Skywalker and to celebrate its impending release the duo sat down to watch the most challenging film they have ever covered. The Star Wars Holiday Special is a true endurance test for anyone who tries to enjoy bad film.

Seeing that Star Wars was playing on the Television, Reuben's kids, Bea and Ezra, rushed down to watch with us only to realize they were not in for your typical Star Wars movie. They didn't last very long. Instead we quickly learned that this film is very much like the description of an unmade movie that came from the warped mind of Henry from the Last Podcast on the Left that's cast is primarily made up of Wookies without any subtitles to translate their myriad grunts and howls. George Lucas hated this movie so much that he tried to erase it from existence, but thanks to some villains on the internet you can still find it with all the original 1978 commercial breaks. You know the movie is extra bad when you start to look forward to the commercial breaks as a breather.

We tried to fill the void of this movie by talking about as much bullsh*t as we could. We drew comparisons to the Empire and the 3rd Reich, Mike gets a lesson in American consumerism when he's introduced to the Pillsbury Doughboy and Fruit of the Loom, we chatted about the "Golden Girls" and the brilliance that is Bea Arthur, and we do our best Wookie impressions which none come close to how good Ricky from Orange's is.

Additional shout outs go to Pete at the Good Beer Bad Movie Night for introducing us to the existence of this movie, Jonah from Jersey City and his conversation with Reuben about the silliness of Indiana Jones 2 and 4, and Elan from Jersey City for pointing out something hilarious from "Over the Top" that we egregiously missed out on.

This episodes sci fi beers were: - Brewfist Italian Ales Spaceman West Coast IPA - Amundsen Brewery/Devils Peak Brewery Chuggernaut NEIPA - Dainton Beer Super Trooper Imperial NEIPA - Almanac Beer Co Tropical Galaxy Dry Hopped Farmhouse Ale - Deu Du Ciel Fracteur Cosmique Hybrid Beer

November's episode is hitting you guys pretty late, but here it is. In honor of the most important thing happening in December, the release of Star Wars Episode IX, we decided to watch a couple of #StarWars inspired pieces of crap. First on the chopping block was the 1978 #SpaghettiSciFi, StarCrashh, starring none other than the David Hasselhoff.

We get into the weeds about why Michael doesn't like "Star Wars" yet Reuben loves it, although we do agree that Spaceballs is incredible. We talk about the life and times of Rick Moranis, Reuben's recent trip to the states to celebrate Elan and Maya from Jersey City's wedding, and while on that trip he was a guest on these two podcasts: the Average Joe Comic Show and the Black Aaron Broadcast. Both of which are far better shows than this one and well worth your time. It was also on this trip that Reuben really began to over eat when he ate an entire pizza at The Star Tavern. Reuben reminisced of his time spent at anime conventions in his 20s. We remarked on how much people abroad would appreciate the #Australiancraftbeer scene with the likes of amazing brewers such as Moon Dog Craft Brewery, La Sirène Brewing, Hargreaves Hill Brewery, Mornington Peninsula Brewery, and Dainton Beer. While on his trip to the States, Reuben was able to visit The Bruery with his cousin Barry and girlfriend Alvi from LA. Mike also professed his love of Family Guy and his growing appreciation for winter. We also discovered what that whole U.S. Surgeon General stuff is all about on American beers which led to a conversation about the sad state of affairs in the American political system.

Many friends of the show were mentioned on this episode most notably are Jonny from Philly and Cassten's Mum for their donations to our Patreon. We also shout out Thuy's great dessert cooking, Thy's confusion as to why we watch such terrible movies, Uri from Boston and her trip with Mike and Reuben to MR WEST - Bar & Bottle Shop, and Reuben's folks, Milinda and Noel from Boston/New Jersey and of course our friends over at the American Good Beer Bad Movie Night.

Beers were purchased from the Thirsty Cafe & Bar, Mr. West, and Bruery Terreux and are the following: (We tried to go sci-fi themed again) - Hop Nation American Red Ale - Thunder Road Hopstar XPA - Kaiju Robohop Golden IPA - Left Handed Giant Beam of Light Wheat IPA - The Bruery Trade Winds Belgian Style Golden Ale - The Bruery Wit the Funk

Happy Halloween all you lovely listeners out there! Take a listen to what most likely will be the longest episode of our show of all time! How can we make an episode that goes longer than the length of the movie you ask? When you get guests on and go on a bit of an excursion it'll always bump your time up.

The Good Beer Bad Movie Night went on tour for this episode and paid our friend Kris-from-Geelong a visit. We started the evening up with dinner and beer tastings at Little Creatures Brewery. Then once back at Kris' we start our viewing of the Stephen King classic, "Cujo."

We watched "Cujo" in honour of Kris' recent step into Doggy-fatherhood, and were accompanied by his great dane puppy, Ella and his old black cat, Sabbath throughout a good chunk of this episode. While watching "Cujo" we chatted about our love of Halloween, all things Stephen King (films and books), we introduce our listeners to the Gheory Scale from the American Good Beer Bad Movie Night, murderous rabbits, Moon Dog Brewery's new venue, Moon Dog World, Mike's trip to Thailand, Reuben's path of music exploration and the discovery of the American/Cambodian band, Dengue Fever, and the Mongolian band, Hangaii, also a story how he once flooded his parents' car in a flash flood, how Kris and Reuben grew up watching horror films much (Reuben was provided a steady stream of horror films from his Nana without the knowledge of his parents), we even started to watch the movie "Howling 3" starring Barry Humphries, AKA Dame Edna, and got into the weeds about Reuben and Kris' love of Star Wars and Mike's ambivalence towards it.

We mentioned a few friends of the show on this episode. We spoke about Marz-from-Glenroy who probably wouldn't mind the beers at Little Creatures, Jonah-from-Cleveland and his giant St. Bernard, Lucy, and Elan & Maya-from-Jersey City who, at the time of this episode, were gearing up for their wedding celebrations in which Reuben was soon to be on his way to attend.

The beers had at Little Creatures were: - Little Creatures Dog Days Summer Ale - Little Creatures Pilsner - Little Creatures Elsie Steam Ale - Furphys Refreshing Ale - Little Creatures East Side Pale Ale - Little Creatures XPA - Little Creatures IPA - White Rabbit Dark Ale - Little Creatures Stout

The beers we had during our viewing of "Cujo" and half of "Howling 3" were as dog-themed as we could get and were purchased from our friends at Penny Young in Moonee Ponds.

  • Southern Bay Session IPA
  • Moon Dog Vinnie IPA
  • Fox Hat Red Pelt India Red Ale
  • Six Strings Brewing Co / Redwood Distribution's Dub Dry Hopped Hazy IPA with Papaya
  • 3 Ravens Melon Juicy NEIPA
  • Moon Dog / Patient Wolf Two Moon Sloe Gin Fizz Cocktail Ale
  • La Sirene Paradox Farmhouse Ale

Can you feel it?! It's time to get into the holiday spirit. We're not talking Christmas, we're talking the holiday that truly has some gravitas, Halloween!

To celebrate we got into the weeds with a couple of horror dogsploitation films in honor of our prospective guest of the show, Kris-from-Geelong and his new puppy. We start with the 1993 straight to video 15 millon dollar budget "classic," "Man's Best Friend." We are joined by Reuben's two kids, Bea and Ezra and once they bugger off to bed we get rather dark while discussing "Animal Farm" (not the book, mind you...), the discussion changes gears to our misadventures during Good Beer Week which included a trip the amazing Rainbow Hotel, our anthropomorphic animal equivalents, Reuben's adventures in adapting Asian cuisine to be Kosher, amazing BBQ from Red Gum BBQ, and Dinner by Heston.

We give shout outs to friends of the show: Nigel-from-Sunshine (another frequenter of the Thirsty Cafe and Bar), Marz-from-Glenroy (give this man a VB and he's happy, give him a well crafted IPA and he grimace with every sip), Thong from Moonee Ponds (likes craft beer and is far funnier and witter than either of us, we should probably get him on the show), and we give a proper congratulations to Pemmy-and-Phil-from-Ascot-Vale on their wedding back in May.

Beers were purchased from the Thirsty Cafe and Bar and are as listed below (we attempted to get more dog themed beer, but only wound up with one...) - Mornington Peninsula Brewery Commonfolk Brown Ale - Old Wives Ales Hair of the Dog XPA - Founders Brewing Trigo Hoppy Wheat Lager - Coconspirator Brewing Co / Market Juice Middleman Grapefruit IPA - Mornington Peninsula Brain Squeeze Hoppy Sour - Sailor's Grave Winter Farmhouse Ale

To cap off our double header of Cannon Film we enjoyed watching this Stallone banger, "Over the Top."

Despite the film being a "Rocky" rip off about arm wrestling it was played totally straight and had a ton of heart.

During the movie we talked a lot about sensitive Jewish stomachs (the David from LA coined term "the Ashkenazi Curse") and friend of the show, Jordan-from-LA who suffers from this same affliction, Giorgio Moroder, the dangers and rewards of arm wrestling, slapping contests, the failures of our generation's educational system in teaching us about the indigenous peoples of our respective countries, Reuben's craft beer road trip to Michigan with Ryan-from-Nevada, and Joe and Brian from New Jersey. We congratulate Elan and Maya from Jersey City on their recent marriage and while mentioning Pemmy and Phil from Ascot Vale we regretfully forgot to mention their recent nuptials, which will be rectified here! We also get deep and philosophical about what makes "home" home.

Beers for this episode were purchased from Penny Young and Thirsty Cafe and Bar and are as listed below:

  • Boatrocker Pilsner
  • Bodriggy Specky Juice Session IPA
  • Fury & Son: The Brewers Blueberry and Strawberry Lactose NEIPA
  • Kansom & Red Duck Brewery Premium Abalone Beer Green Lip and Samphire Gose
  • Boatrocker Miss Pinky Raspberry Berliner Weiss
  • Founders Brewing Canadian Breakfast Stout

Our two hosts begin their journey into the wonders of Cannon Films, with this gem of a movie. "Lifeforce" isn't necessarily a bad film, but it is riddled with silliness, plot holes, and the seldom bad acting.

While watching we discussed a brief history of Cannon films, John Cassavetes, our friends at Get to the Podcast (Kevin in particular), the never ageing Patrick Stewart, and a new segment all about unique beer snacks.

The sci-fi themed beer line up was: (Procured from the awesome Thirst Cafe in Sunshine)

  • Bridge Road Brewers Enigma New World Pilsner
  • Holgate Brewery X-Wing XPA
  • Hop Nation Brewing Company Jedi Juice NEIPA
  • Mornington Peninsula Brewery Galaxy Pash Dry Hopped Passion Fruit Sour
  • 3 Ravens Acid Sour Beer
  • Bodriggy Brewing/Sailors Grave Brewing Midnight Zone Black Lichtenhainer

To wrap up our Ozploitation double header Mike and Reuben sat down to watch the 1971 classic "Wake in Fright." It's a fantastic but disturbing film that is ripe with rampant alcoholism, perfect for our podcast. With this film it was another addition of Good Beer Good Movie Night.

While watching the film we talked about animal cruelty, the plight of the indigenous peoples of Australia, goresploitation, the proper pronunciation of "gose," the discovery of our sister podcast, the American "Good Beer Bad Movie Night," hot dogs and bakes beans, the Vietnamese language, beer cocktails, and Reuben's stint as a cocktail bartender at the awesome Double Happiness.

Our beers were procured from the amazing Thirst Bar and Cafe in Sunshine, home to great coffee and fine selection of craft beer!

Here's what we drank: - Bridge Roads Brewers Africola Chinotto Saison - Hargreaves Hill Gin Barrel Gose - Dainton Brewery Pina Colada Pineapple Coconut Punch - Mornington Peninsula Brewery Hamfish Brut IPA - Old Wive's Ale Old Man Yells at Cloud - Dainton Brewery Raspberry Rye Milk Porter

For the first time we had a change of venue and recorded at Mike's newly purchased house. We endured the Australian cult classic, "Body Melt." While not all aspects of this "bad movie" were bad it was still entertaining, i guess it helps to have good company and good beers.

For this episode we were joined by the one and only Karl Redgen. Karl is a talented filmmaker with a passion for beer and exploitation cinema. He was right at home with us.

We spoke about the hit soap opera "Neighbours," Australian actors, frustrations with Government funded film grants, exploitation films, body horror, drunken debauchery, and much much more.

We threw a few shout outs to our friends; Chip from Florida, Dan Armstrong, who is a makes some fantastic exploitation films in Melbourne, and our friends at Penny Young in Moonee Ponds.

Our beer roster was: - Crown Lager - Coopers Session Ale - Murray's Rudeboy Pilsner - Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale - Akasha Tradewind Lager - Three Greens Sunrise Ale - Cavalier Pale Ale - Moon Dog Mr. Mistafelees Passion Fruit and Mango Wild Ale - Moon Dog Perverse Sexual Amalgam Black Wild Ale - 3 Ravens Moussey Juicy

What happens when Mike and Reuben end up living in the same house and neither of them have to worry about getting home after recording because they're recording at home? They drink 10 beers and go on and on and on.

Here we watch the cult classic Japanese film, "House." We talk about adventures in Japan, the dangers of social media addiction, burgeoning love stories, trips to China, and walks down the road of nostalgia. We mention friends of the show, Jonah from Jersey City, Alec from Queens, Paolo from Brooklyn (then Washington Heights), Thuy from Melbourne (Mike's better half), Jessie from Washington Heights, and Thu from Melbourne.

Beers include: - Kirin Tsuoi Chu Hai - Miyajima Original Beer Caramel Blonde - Yamaguchi Beer Weizen - Coedo Beniaka Sweet Potato Lager - Hitachino Nest Saison Du Japon - Miyajima Original Beer Pale Ale - Coedo Kyara India Pale Lager - Hitachino Nest Dai Dai IPA - Hitachino Nest Extra High Ale - Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout

Things get really weird with our first foreign language film. Mike and Reuben sit down to watch the Japanese cult classic, "Funky Forest: The First Contact" and what better thing to drink with this film than some good sake to go along with the bizarre film. With this the very first #GoodSakeWeirdMovieNight was created.

We are joined by Reuben's wife, Thy, in this episode and speak about our nostalgia of Japan amongst tons of other things. We also mention lots of friends of the show: David from LA, Alec from Queens, Paolo from Brooklyn, Thu from Melbourne, and Ryusuke from New York City.

Hop on the strange train and check out this month's episode of Good Beer Bad Movie Night!

Hosts Micheal and Reuben record their first episode of Good Beer Bad Movie Night. They watch the all time classic bad movie, "Plan 9 From outerSpace" and drink Prickly Moses's Ottway Ale and Red Ale, Mountain Goat's Hightail Ale, and Brewcult's Supafly Rye IPA. The movie is ridiculed, the beers are discussed, but that doesn't even cover the half of it.
