Show Notes:Should we be ok with living as ratchet Christians?  AntinomianismChristianity without conviction - rejection of legalism to the degree of abusing grace. This is a major issue in the church today but really has always been an issue. Romans 6:1–4 6 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:15–18 15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.   While we're not under the law, that doesn't mean we're absolved from living in righteousness. We're still called to live holy. God has always expected humanity to adhere to righteousness. This is evident when He cursed Cain for murdering Abel; or when He cursed Adam and Eve for disobedience. Or brought the flood during Noah's day. The issue today, is that people have obfuscated what we've come to know as the "Law". That the advent of Christ and fulfillment of the law means no more law, which means no more 10 commandments. This belief lies within the failure to understand that the moral law has existed as long as God has existed; which is ALWAYS. But there's another viewpoint on this and it's that God is soo loving that He simply doesn't have time for pettiness. The idea that Christ's death on the cross somehow now minimizes the impacts of sin or softens God's view is nothing short of demonic. Many want the pleasure of sin with the benefit of salvation. Only God can judge so who are you to say? It's as if God's Word which makes it plain is somehow null and void? God understands since we're all sinners. - Sure God does understand but that doesn't mean God accepts sin. God loves the sinner but hates the sin - The correct, Biblical way to think about this, is we are either children of the devil or children of God. And only the children of the devil live as the un-Godly.   John 14:15-17 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.   If you don't love Jesus who is God, therefore you don't love God; you will not keep His commandments; and if you don't love God you are a child of the devil. Jesus was very clear as to what it took to enter into the kingdom and it was more than a profession of faith.   Matthew 7:21–23 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your...

AstrologyThe idea we can extract divine knowledge from the cosmos based on the positions of the sun, moon, stars to inform us about human personalities, traits and possibly our own fate.  Reasons it is frowned uponCommon reason it is frowned upon within our faith is due to it being considered divination and God forbids divination. Divination: The ability to uncover secret or hidden spiritual truths to do things like predict the future or make prophetic proclamations.  Purpose of the cosmosTo better understand the concern of astrology we need to first understand the purposes behind God's creation. Genesis 1:14–18 14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. Purposes Giving light to the earth during the day and night Help determine the seasons Help determine the days to discern time Act as signs which are used for navigating the earth God never defines the cosmos as a means to better understand Him, ourselves, creation or what He is doing.  Bible's Stance on DivinationJeremiah 10:2 Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because the nations are dismayed at them -   Jeremiah 14:14 And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds -   Ezekial 12:24 24 For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. -   Deuteronomy 18:10 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer   Deuteronomy 18:14 14 for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.  FatalismBelief in astrology lends itself to a kind of fatalistic worldview. This means that events can be predetermined simply by the orientation or position of celestial objects; as well personality traits. This robs God of His glory because it is God that holds the entire universe in His hands. He has the supernatural ability to alter the cosmos or life in general at any point in time regardless of what is fixed.   Job 9:7 7 who commands the sun, and it does not rise; who seals up the stars;   Psalm 8:3 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,   Ps 136:9 9 the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures forever   Jeremiah 31:35 Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord of hosts is his name:   We should not be seeking His creation, but rather Him. By seeking Him it guards us from wandering away from Him or robbing Him of His glory.  Accuracy does not matterSimply because something seems accurate that doesn't mean it is good, Godly or ok. It's not that divination is false, but rather it is of the demonic and can lead us away from Him. Book of Acts (Girl with the spirit of divination) Acts 16:16-18 16 As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and...

How do we help those trapped in the Prosperity Gospel movement? And what about those who end up in Hell but never heard the Gospel?  Prosperity GospelPeople are hurting in this world due to a variety of reasons and there are wolves who've been taken advantage of people for several decades. Dealing with those still trapped in itLook for opportunities to address real life problems biblically Many people caught up in these movements have also fallen victim to just bad theology all around. One of the best ways to help those still trapped in the movement is not to assault the whole movement or their pastor, but speak to life challenges they may be experience through a more conservative and theological lens. Pray Pray for opportunities to speak into their lives with the true Gospel.  Those who never heard of the GospelHow do we as believers deal with the issue of people going to hell without hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ?  Points to RememberNot everyone wants to be saved Everyone's trajectory is hell to start with   Not everyone wants to be saved The topic of people dying without ever hearing is a hard topic but we need to fully understand the plight of the world; then it becomes a bit easier. A bit. There's an assumption that if people would hear the Gospel they would come to Christ. But that isn't what we see in the Bible. Satan attempted a mutiny Adam and Eve rebelled against God Cain slew Abel out of rebellion and they knew God because they were already providing offerings Noah preached and was ignored Pharaoh rejected God despite God proving Himself through his encounter with Moses The prophets God sent were slain by the people of God Matthew 23:29-32 29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, 30 and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have taken part with them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors’ sins!   Jesus was God in the flesh and Judas rebelled The Jews and Romans killed Jesus After the death of Jesus the Romans started killing the followers of Jesus There are stories of missionaries who traveled the world and were killed or eaten by cannibals for attempting to spread the Gospel. Bottom line is that God knows who is going to respond to the Gospel and who will not. Many people will never respond even if God Himself (Jesus) was before them. We need to trust in God's omniscience. Those who come to God are no surprise to God.   Hell is everyone's trajectory Remember Romans 3:10   Romans 3:9-10 9 What then? Are we any better off? Not at all! For we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin, 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. Common thought about hell is people aren't really destined for it, they just end up there because they reject Jesus. This isn't true. Hell is everyone's initial trajectory from birth. God made a conscience decision to intervene and provide salvation via Jesus Christ. God was never under any obligation to save us.   God cared enough to Intervene People were saved before Jesus Christ arrived. Those who believed through faith in God were sent to Paradise (which was once part of Sheol) before Jesus arrived. Remember the many who faithfully followed the God of Abraham before Jesus arrived to purchase all souls. Remember God sending Noah who was operating under the Spirit of God (1 Peter 3:18-20) sent to save the wicked. Then we have Jesus on the scene; God in the flesh to provide salvation Lastly we have the followers of Jesus here to proclaim the good news until He returns. What we see in scripture and throughout history is God fighting to ensure the gift of salvation is made readily available to those who would respond in repentance and faith....

As Christians how do we deal with the topic of reparations?  Defining reparationsReparations is essentially a way of making amends or wronging an egregious right that resulted in one party becoming disadvantaged or harmed.  Points of discussionThe idea of forcing those who've had nothing to do with previous injustices such as slavery to have to pay for what their ancestors did is wrong and not biblical. A proper biblical response concerning justice is to hold offenders accountable for their injustices carried out towards another party. Should the government and subsequent states work towards equalizing the disadvantages it they from? Is it ok for followers of Jesus to practice aspects of new age spiritualism?   Show Notes  New Age Spiritualism Typical wheel house items are reincarnation, astrology, psychics and the presence of spiritual energy Sits on a bedrock foundation of Buddhism, Mysticism, The Occult, Hinduism It acts a way to help people connect with the supernatural through natural means as traditional religious beliefs don't offer that. It's believed to be more tangible in a physical sense. In https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/10/01/new-age-beliefs-common-among-both-religious-and-nonreligious-americans/ (2018 the Pew Research reported) that 1/3 of church goers believed in some form of New Age Spiritualism 6 out of 10 people hold on to some new age belief  YogaIn Sanksrit the ancient word for Yoga literally means union The highest form is called the raja and has the ultimate aim of spiritual purification and self understanding leading to samadhi or union with the divine. The union speaks to what's called the Atman (individual soul consisting of love, light and energy) becoming united with the Brahman (divine or world soul; the greater soul of love light and energy). In the West, Hatha Yoga is practiced. When you practice hatha Yoga, which is based on poses (worshipful postures), those poses focus on Hindu deities. People wonder if you can practice Yoga without giving credence to the religious observance of the Hindu belief system. Most Hindus would say no while in the West we assume yes. The physical aspects of Yoga (Meditation) are tightly coupled to the theistic system of Yoga. For the Christian, the goal is for us to become one in Christ Jesus by way of the Spirit due to the gift of salvation given by the Father. It is to reconcile us back to God. Yoga like many other new age practices have a goal of reconciling the individual soul back to a divine spirit or nature.  The danger of driftingIn the OT the children of Israel would often slide into idolatry as they would become exposed to other cultures.   Exodus 32:3-4 3 So all the people took off the gold rings that were on their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said, “Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt! ” The practice of polytheism was something they borrowed from the Egyptians.   Jeremiah 19:4-5 (Sacrificing Children; Canaanites) because they have abandoned me and made this a foreign place. They have burned incense in it to other gods that they, their ancestors, and the kings of Judah have never known. They have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. 5 They have built high places to Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, something I have never commanded or mentioned; I never entertained the thought.   Leviticus 10:1-3 (Nadab and Abihu & offer strange fire) Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his own firepan, put fire in it, placed incense on it, and presented unauthorized fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them to do. 2 Then fire came from the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord. 3 Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has spoken:I will demonstrate my holiness to those who are near me, and I will reveal my glory before all the people.”   Hosea 4:12 (Spiritual Consulting & divination) 2 My people consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of promiscuity leads them astray; they act promiscuously in disobedience to their God.  Stumbling BlocksWhile our intention may not be to worship another deity, that doesn't mean we're not observing practices that are intended for worship of other deities.  Worship in Spirit and Truth  John 4:23-24 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.” We are called to worship God with our full being. Every aspect of our

Does the Bible call us to tithe or is tithing a cash grab for churches?   Show Notes  Verses used to justify modern day tithingMalachi 8-10 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me!” “How do we rob you?” you ask.“ By not making the payments of the tenth and the contributions. 9 You are suffering under a curse, yet you—the whole nation—are still robbing me. 10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure. Matthew 23:23 23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These things should have been done without neglecting the others.   Origin of tithingLevitical Tithe The Festival Tithe Welfare Tithe   Levitical TitheLevitesAaron became the first Levitical Priest and his role along with his relatives were to maintain service the Temple. They were also responsible for receiving the consecrated items dedicated to God, from the people of Israel. Everything that was not consumed by fire at the altar the priests were able to keep. All of this laid out in Numbers 18:8-20. Numbers 18:21-24 - God tells Aaron that he will not have an inheritance in the land of Israel and in return for the work of the Levites will receive a tenth of everything from Israel.   Numbers 18:20 20 The Lord told Aaron, “You will not have an inheritance in their land; there will be no portion among them for you. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.   Numbers 18:21 Look, I have given the Levites every tenth in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work they do, the work of the tent of meeting   Numbers 18:24 24 For I have given them the tenth that the Israelites present to the Lord as a contribution for their inheritance. That is why I told them that they would not receive an inheritance among the Israelites.”   Festival TitheThere was a general tithe that was taken up annually that was classified as holy to the Lord. This was taken up as an agricultural. Each year the Israelites would make their way to the designated sanctuary and fellowship together; eating a certain portion of their tithe. This is an agriculture tithe   Leviticus 27:30-34 30 “Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. 31 If a man decides to redeem any part of this tenth, he must add a fifth to its value. 32 Every tenth animal from the herd or flock, which passes under the shepherd’s rod, will be holy to the Lord. 33 He is not to inspect whether it is good or bad, and he is not to make a substitution for it. But if he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute will be holy; they cannot be redeemed.” 34 These are the commands the Lord gave Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai. Deuteronomy 14:22-23 (Festival) Each year you are to set aside a tenth of all the produce grown in your fields. 23 You are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and fresh oil, and the firstborn of your herd and flock, in the presence of the Lord your God at the place where he chooses to have his name dwell, so that you will always learn to fear the Lord your God.   Deuteronomy 14:24-27 24 But if the distance is too great for you to carry it, since the place where the Lord your God chooses to put his name is too far away from you and since the Lord your God has blessed you, 25 then exchange it for silver, take the silver in your hand, and go to the place the Lord your God chooses. 26 You may spend the silver on anything you want: cattle, sheep, goats, wine, beer, or anything you desire. You are to feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice with your family. 27 Do not neglect the Levite within your city gates, since he

Today we discuss Jesus and His relationship to social justice. Oh and Don Lemon tells millions Jesus wasn’t perfect.   Show Notes    CNN DON LEMON - JESUS WASN'T PERFECT!Be sure to check out our YouTube video on this → https://youtu.be/2P4pTskuaTk (https://youtu.be/2P4pTskuaTk)  Social JusticeDoes supporting the idea that Black Lives Matter = Social Justice warrior = Marxism = Assault on Gospel? Every immoral issue is a sin issue. Racism is no different.  Salvation Isn't ImmediateThe Gospel doesn’t necessarily bring about an immediate change. Salvation is contingent upon God’s arm operating in His time. Sanctification is a process that is lifelong once God has saved someone. Jesus who was the walking Gospel committed Himself to action that brought about immediate change. He didn’t just deliver the message of salvation in passing. Jesus spoke up for those who were discriminated against Jesus cared for the poor Jesus healed the sick Jesus chastised sinners Ultimately Jesus died so we may all be considered children of God, placed on equal footing as God show's no partiality. Jesus did not take up arms or embark on a mission that was separate from His main mission, which was to bring salvation to all. Everything Jesus did was done in an effort to point people to Him. The miracles including even His birth, the parables, the mission, the chastising, the flipping tables, everything Jesus did was done to point people TO HIM. The moment we look at the work of Jesus and attempt to separate any of His intentions or acts from the Gospel we fail to see the larger picture just like those who rejected Jesus. We fail to understand why He did what He did. Jesus didn't just preach sermons and walk off. He acted. He committed Himself to works. James 2:20-26 20 Senseless person! Are you willing to learn that faith without works is useless? 21 Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works in offering Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was made complete, 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works in receiving the messengers and sending them out by a different route? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.  DefinitionsThere seems to be different definitions of what Social Justice means depending on your bias. If you have a bias against black people, then social justice may mean marxism, assault on the Gospel, social justice warrior, government handouts, reparations, etc.. To paint all Christians who care deeply about inequality or injustice as those who seek to thwart the Gospel of Jesus Christ is wrong. Many proclaim racism and racial inequality is a sin issue, a Gospel issue, but then never preach on it.  VictimologyThere is a thought that the idea of Social Justice categorically places people into the status of being a victim who are then no longer responsible for sins or issues in their lives. However this is a bit of a straw-man as not everyone shares the concept of victimology. The problem that America has and has always had, is an inability to sympathize with those who are often victims of the colonist mindset. If you don't hold to a racial bias social justice may mean this concern is everything. That it's at the heart of the Gospel. We need to solve inequity and inequality everywhere. This view can lead to the view of humanism that devalues the power of salvation.  But Jesus...Jesus did not attempt to topple the government or force their hand to relieve the oppression of the Jews. Jesus didn't advocate for reparations. He didn't commit Himself to toppling systems of oppression. What do we say to the puritans who fought against the Roman Catholic Church?

Let's talk about the Law Christians should actually be following.   Show Notes  “For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.” -1 Corinthians 9:19-21 Should we be keeping the Sabbath? –We are called to keep the Sabbath –Sabbath was a typeshadow event for Jesus. (Just like sacrificing was a typeshadow) –God rested on the 7th day –God commands Israel to rest –Jesus comes and declares He is LORD of the Sabbath –We are free from work as we can rest in the finished work on the cross. Matthew 12:8 8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” Matthew 11:28-30 28 “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Under the law 1 Corinthians 9 –Throughout the chapter Paul speaks of doing everything he can to avoid creating stumbling blocks to the Gospel of Salvation for those he is trying to reach. –When Paul says he is free from ALL but yet made himself a servant to all to win them over. –To the Jews he became as a Jew to win them over. This doesn’t mean he did anything to violate his Christian principles or the Gospel. For those under the law he became AS ONE under the law but makes it clear he IS NOT actually under the law. –Acts 16:1-3 ( example with Paul taking Timothy with him for circumcision) –Paul went on to Derbe and Lystra, where there was a disciple named Timothy, the son of a believing Jewish woman, but his father was a Greek. 2 The brothers and sisters at Lystra and Iconium spoke highly of him. 3 Paul wanted Timothy to go with him; so he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, since they all knew that his father was a Greek. –Outside of the law referred to the Gentiles but Paul also makes it clear he is under the law of Christ which YES concerns the new convenant. Paul isn't advocating for the neglection of adhering to righteousness, or the moral law. Law of Christ (what is it?) –It is essentially the instruction and command Jesus delivered to believers pertaining to how we should live our lives in light of our new life. Galatians 6:2 –2 Carry one another’s burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Mark 12:29-31 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. 31 The second is, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.” – The entire 10 commandments fall into these 2 categories, loving God and loving your neighbor. –The moral LAW, or 10 commandments brought death (as 2 Cor 3:7 states); however we now live according to the Spirit by faith which brings eternal life. –The 10 commandments now point us to our need for Jesus, who can pay the penalty for our sins whereas in the past the 10 commandments exposed us and pointed us towards death by way of condemnation. Israel realized this and that was the point of the sacrifices ie atoning for sins. Moral Law –The first law given to man was the moral law. This law is a representation of God’s character and nature. God is good, holy, perfect and righteous. God gives the moral law to Adam. –Adam rebels and disobeys God, breaking the moral law. –See God cursing Cain after He slew his brother. –God expects the moral law to be followed; see the flood with Noah. –See God toss out Satan and the angels for breaking the moral law.

If you’re black man or woman living in America then you’re well aware of the challenges that exist just living here. I don’t need to iterate them. These challenges have caused many throughout the years to wonder if black people are simply cursed.   Show Notes  3 Reasons why blacks typically believe in curses 1.Failure to understand the different types of curses and who they were for. 2.Failure to understand the Character and nature of God 3.Failure to understand the point of God the Son coming to save us in the personhood of Jesus Christ.   Understanding Curse Rightly - The entire world is cursed. Every ethnic group sits under A curse. No one is exempt regardless of ethnicity. This is the curse of a fallen world and fallen humanity due to sin, entered by Adam. This is spiritual as it separated us from God but it also has physical implications. Genesis 3:17-19 17 And he said to the man, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.” Romans 3:23 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; Romans 5:12 12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned. –We are all guilty and with this we live in a corrupt world where people treat people like trash because we are sinners. –Out of our guilt we misrepresent our Father and His love for humanity. God becomes more of a tyrant we must please vs a Father who gave His own life to save His children. Romans 5:15-21 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the one man’s trespass the many died, how much more have the grace of God and the gift which comes through the grace of the one man Jesus Christ overflowed to the many. 16 And the gift is not like the one man’s sin, because from one sin came the judgment, resulting in condemnation, but from many trespasses came the gift, resulting in justification. 17 If by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 18 So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is justification leading to life for everyone. 19 For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. 20 The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. –God had always predestined a way to bring humanity back into relationship through Jesus. Galatians 3:10-14 (Curse of the Law) 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed. 11 Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith. 12 But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them. 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. 14 The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.   –We are not cursed unless you cling to the Law because the Law can't save anyone. –The injustice, racism...

The job of the police may not be what we think it is.   SHOW NOTES  As I think through what could possibly be wrong with the not only the bad cops in this country I can't help but also wonder what is wrong with people who justify the actions of bad cops. Is it possible we don't fully understand not only the role of the police and subsequent governing authorities but also what they should represent?   Governing AuthoritiesLet everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God. -- Romans 13:1   First off, we need to understand that any governing power that exist is because the very idea of it comes from God. It is built on a construct of morality. All morality, the very idea of it comes from God. When we think about the police and their duty, their responsibility and ultimate accountability we have to remember they are accountable to God! God is the FIRST governing authority and the Adam was the first human to receive a command as a governing authority when he was to watch and care for the Garden and all creatures within it.   Resisting AuthorityUsing Romans 13:2-3 to justify the actions of bad cops. So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. -- Romans 13:2-3   Police are not the entire governing authority over a society. They are only part of it(1 component out of 3 concerning the criminal justice system). When the police exercise judgement (death) because someone is resisting arrest they are now operating out of their role.  Protect and ServeThe LAPD created the motto Protect and Serve which other police departments across the country adopted. This stems from the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.   As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve the community; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the constitutional rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice. The Code of Ethics hasn't been updated since 1957 which was when it was first adopted by the IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police).   Hippocratic Oath ConceptSgt. Jeremiah P. Johnson Darien (CT) Police Department He wrote an article (https://www.policefoundation.org/a-hippocratic-oath-for-policing/ (https://www.policefoundation.org/a-hippocratic-oath-for-policing/)) that calls for a corporate Hippocratic Oath.  The Police Don't Have To Protect AnyoneNot only do the police have an outdated code of ethics, they also do NOT have a constitutional duty to protect you. See suit filed by students in 2018's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. Reject by federal judge. Supreme Court In the cases DeShaney vs. Winnebago and Town of Castle Rock vs. Gonzales, the supreme court has ruled that police agencies are not obligated to provide protection of citizens.   Email truth@upnorthkingdom.com | https://twitter.com/UpNorthKingdom (Follow on Twitter) | https://www.youtube.com/c/UpNorthKingdom (Subscribe on YouTube) | https://www.instagram.com/upnorthkingdom/ (Follow on Instagram)

I answer your questions and look at the argument that blacks also kill each other.   Show Notes  Did God show favoritism with Israel?Does the Bible have anything to say about God exercising favoritism or partiality? If so what does it say?   For there is no favoritism with God. -- Romans 2:11 9 And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him. -- Ephesians 6:9 34 Peter began to speak: “Now I truly understand that God doesn’t show favoritism, -- Acts 10:34 17 For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God, showing no partiality and taking no bribe. -- Deuteronomy 10:17  Partiality with man is sinIf, however, you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. -- James 2:9 21 It is not good to show partiality — yet even a courageous person may sin for a piece of bread. -- Proverbs 28:21 So clearly the Bible is against partiality. It is sinful. Now we take this information and use it to reconcile what God was doing against a proper backdrop. God predestined a solution to save humanity and that solution was Himself in the form of Jesus Christ. To do this God needed people but He also had to ensure these people stayed on the proper path for the Messiah to come (Israelites). Romans 1:16 makes plain what God was doing.   16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek. -- Romans 1:16 Jews receive priority, but it's not because of favoritism. It's simply based out of logic (1 must come before 2). God oftentimes punished Israel and even threatened to destroy them for their sin; see Deuteronomy 28, Book of Jeremiah, Daniel. God treated Israel the same way He treats everyone. Obey and be blessed, disobey and be cursed. That's not partiality or favoritism. That's righteous and fair judgement.  Blacks kill each other so what's the big deal?Black people aren't the only ethnic group to kill within their ethnic group. So because people kill within their own ethnic groups that means no one should be outraged when they're targeted by others? No. The issue isn't just cops killing blacks. The issue is blacks being marginalized and discriminated against since their arrival to this country. So the issue isn't racism exists because cops are killing blacks. The issue is racism because racism exists.  Black Lives MatterTheir organization statement carries is anti-biblical. However, we can get with the idea that the lives of black people Matter.   Email truth@upnorthkingdom.com | https://twitter.com/UpNorthKingdom (Follow on Twitter) | https://www.youtube.com/c/UpNorthKingdom (Subscribe on YouTube)

Show Notes Paul's statements (controversial verses)1 Corinthians 14:34 34 the women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but are to submit themselves, as the law also says 1 Timothy 2:12 I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to remain quiet. Look through the lens of God's characterGenesis 1:26-27 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female God has never viewed women as less than. It's simply not possible due to the nature of how God created Adam and Eve; in HIS IMAGE. God has a special relationship with mankind 1 Peter 1:10-12 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated. 11 They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified in advance to the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — angels long to catch a glimpse of these things. Are Women in the church valued as less than?Paul is delivers framework as to how they are to corporately exist. In fact Paul points out the problem they're having in 1 Corinthians 1:10+. 1 Corinthians 1:10-12 (The Division) 10 Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction. 11 For it has been reported to me about you, my brothers and sisters, by members of Chloe’s people, that there is rivalry among you. 12 People were fighting for attention1 Corinthians 1:14-29-30 (Prophets being silenced which would also include MEN) Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should evaluate. 30 But if something has been revealed to another person sitting there, the first prophet should be silent. (1 Co 14:29–30) 1 Corinthians 1:14-33 (The Disorder) 33 since God is not a God of disorder but of peace He goes on to mention if women want to learn something to ask their husbands in their own home; 1 Corinthians 1:14-35-36 (Women should ask questions at home, not in the church) 35 If they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, since it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. 36 Or did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only? Corinthians were tripp'nChapter 11 Paul talks to the Corinthians about concerning head coverings to help them understand headship / authority / roles in the home. Chapter 11: 17 Paul reprimands them for making a mockery of the Lord's Supper. 1 Corinthians 11:5 (Women pray & prophecy) Every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since that is one and the same as having her head shaved. Titus 2:3-5 (Women teaching..) 3 In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking. They are to teach what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, workers at home, kind, and in submission to their husbands, so that God’s word will not be slandered. 1 Timothy 2:9-13 (Women learning) Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, 10 but with good works, as is proper for women who profess to worship God. 11 A woman is to learn quietly with...

Many of us grew up on with King James version of the Bible. But does familiarity equate to exclusivity? Is reading other versions of the Bible OK or is it tantamount to heresy?   Show NotesHistory  Latin Vulgate - Bible in Latin; St. Jerome in the 4th century Gutenberg Bible - later printed on the Johann Gutenberg's invention of the move-able type printing press which became known as the Gutenberg Bible/15th century/1456). In the 16th century 2 printings were commissioned; one by Cardinal Francisco Jimenez de Cisneros in Spain. Johannes Froben and Desiderius Erasmus produce a Greek New Testament before the New Testament of Jimenez could be published. Erasmus first version was printed in 1516 full of errors; he put out 5 versions between 1516 then 1535 attempting to correct his previous versions. The earliest Greek manuscript he had was from 1000AD Robertus Stephanus - 1546 Greek Text Theodore Beza - 1598 Greek NT translation  FactsThe sources the translators used for the KJV Erasmus' work Stephanus' work Theodore Beza's work They didn't use Greek Manuscripts(handwritten). They only used printed editions. Today we have over 5,000 Greek manuscripts. Erasmus at best had 6 in a world where about 1000 were found. KJV comes out of the Textus Receptus (Received Text) - There are no Greek texts thats read as the Textus Receptus  Examples of DiscrepanciesRevelation 22:16-21 - Erasmus had no Greek text for this passage. Revelation 16:5 Before the 1598 Beza edition it read You are just, the Holy One, who is and who was KJV - Beza added by way of conjecture; which exists in the KJV today despite this NOT being in ANY Greek manuscript - Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, 2 Timothy 2:19 - The word Christ exists no where except in the KJV or any Greek manuscript.  The TranslatorsKJV translators never made any statements that suggest the KJV was the final translation and there should be no others. If the translators were alive today they'd argue the KJV shouldn't be used as the only translation either. Remember they made several revisions to it over decades. Deuteronomy 28:68 is often used as proof text to infer that African Americans must be the true Israelites. Is this true or is it a case of mistaken identity?   Show Notes  The Lord will take you back in ships to Egypt by a route that I said you would never see again. There you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.” -- Deuteronomy 28:68  Reasons why it is wrongEvidence this was fulfilled during the Jewish Roman wars. We’re on YouTube! Do you believe you can attract good or bad things due to your outlook on life or who you keep in your circle? Today we discuss the Law of Attraction as well as God disciplining believers based on what we do.  Show NotesDefining Law of Attraction and God's Discipline The idea that there's a spiritual or cosmic force that acts as a catalyst for attracting good or bad things to people based on their outlook, perception or dealings in life. Also, does God allow bad things to happen to you because you're not living or believing a certain way?   GnosticismSpecial spiritual revelation or knowledge (Gnosis) and that by being in tune with this revelation you could obtain enlightenment and salvation from God. This material world, which is flawed is considered evil. Gnosticism can be shored up this way - spiritual good, material bad. Law of Attraction idea is related to this ancient belief. The more you're in tune with the spiritual (which is good), by way of meditation, focus, outlook, etc... you can attract positive spiritual forces. If not, you're left attracting negative things from the material world into your life   God punishing us for not doing XBirthed out of the idea of human achievement and deity appeasement. Goes back to the days of ancient paganism where people would sacrifice to appease angry God. Man has always been tried to make up for the sin of rebellion. Once Jesus came the idea of grace became much more clear but man still clings to the idea of redeeming himself; ie works righteousness.   Is this even Biblical? Both ideas are anti-biblical and rub counter to the character and nature of God. Laws of Attraction assume the Watch Maker idea, that God just set things into motion and everything runs all on its own. That he is not active or involved. This isn't true; hence Abraham. The idea God is punishing or disrupting lives because they aren't following Him precisely runs counter to what we saw with Job. Jesus was sinless and took the wrath of God. This runs counter to the Laws of Attraction And what about the wicked who are living great lives or the righteous who are enduring persecution? Matthew 5:45 (God blesses the wicked and righteous) so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. For he causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.   What can we do?Chase after God's heart like David. God is faithful to save each and everyone of us and once Jesus has hold of us, nobody can snatch us out of His hand. He is in control. God and JudgementWe first need to understand the types of judgement that exist:   Behavioral JudgementSatan being kicked out of Heaven Adam / Eve kicked out of Heaven along with a curse placed over mankind as well as Satan The great flood   Eternal JudgementDaniel 12:2 Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt. -- Daniel 12:2 Psalms 9:5 You have rebuked the nations: You have destroyed the wicked; you have erased their name forever and ever. -- Psalms 9:5 Psalm 81:15 15 Those who hate the Lord would cower to him; their doom would last forever. -- Psalms 81:15 John 12:48 48 The one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my sayings has this as his judge: The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day. -- John 12:48 Romans 14:10 10 But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. -- Romans 14:10 Jude 1:6-7 6 and the angels who did not keep their own position but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deep darkness for the judgment on the great day. 7 Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions, and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. -- Jude 1:6-7 Revelation 20:15 15 And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire -- Revelation 20:15   The wrath of Jesus for the unrepentant on His coming2nd Peter 3:10-12 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed. 11 Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way, it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness 12 as you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming. Because of that day, the heavens will be dissolved with fire and the elements will melt with heat. -- 2 Peter 3:10-12 2 Thessalonians 1:7-11 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us. This will take place at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels, 8 when he takes vengeance with flaming fire on those who don’t know God and on those who don’t obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious strength 10 on that day when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at by all those who have believed, because our testimony among you was believed. 11 -- 2 Thessalonians 1:7-11 Revelation 22:12-13 12“Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. -- Revelation 22:12-13 Revelation 19:11-16 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and with justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. 14 The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. 15 A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. 16 And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords. -- Revelation 19:11-16     Judgement of AbandonmentRevelation 22:10-15 10 Then he said to me, “Don’t seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near. 11 Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy still be filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; let the holy still be...

We're living in an unprecedented moment. For all of the medical and technological advancements we've made as a human race, we're faced with a threat that is leaving many in the world on edge and in fear. Coronavirus is exposing humanity Three things that we should think about in the midst of this pandemicLife for all humans is now valuable The level of hatred human can possess is unconscionable The media is trying to manipulate the country   All Human Life has become instantaneously valuable The utopian desire for life - at any expense including murdering children in the womb - has now been replaced with people going all out for self. Romans 3:10 - The heart of man 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. 11 There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away; all alike have become worthless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one. 13 Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers’ venom is under their lips. 14 Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. 15 Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and wretchedness are in their paths, 17 and the path of peace they have not known. 18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.   Luke 17:26-37 - Days of Noah and the Son of Man 26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 People went on eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. 29 But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day, a man on the housetop, whose belongings are in the house, must not come down to get them. Likewise the man who is in the field must not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.” 37 “Where, Lord? ” they asked him. Today we're going to cover something that a lot of people wrestle with and that is the topic of death. Starting at the beginning with the creation story we'll build up a proper perspective of life and death.   Genesis 1:1 - The Beginning of LifeGod exercises the establishment of life within the universe through the 6 day creation event. (Genesis 1:1-2) God gives Adam the tree of life to eat from (Genesis 2:8-9) and gives him autonomy to eat from it (Genesis 2:16-17) God does NOT command them to refrain from eating from the Tree of Life until Adam and Eve are kicked out of Eden. (Genesis 3:22) What we see is God creating and acting as the arbiter of ALL life. We see God emphasizing His desire for life eternal with Him. This was the initial setup. And it was good. He even warns Adam to abstain from disobedience to avoid death; breaking the relationship of eternal life with God in the Garden. God is a God of life, not death. God sent Jesus (the way, the truth, the life - John 14:6) to save and reconcile us back to Him after the fall to express His desire for life eternal with humanity.  The point (Life is Primary)Life eternal is our primary way of existing. No one really dies. Life isn’t temporary, it is only temporary on this earth. The Bible doesn't teach annihilationism; it teaches the eternality of the soul.  The Wicked and EternityMatthew 8:12, Matthew 22:13-14, Jude 1:5-6, Jude 1:7, Revelation 20:10, Revelation 20:14-15 The wicked will spend eternity in darkness and also the lake of fire. When we talk about darkness and the lake of fire we see these are eternal places.     The Righteous and Eternity(2 Corinthians 5:6-8, Philippians 3:20) The permanent residence for the believer is the kingdom of God. Everyone goes through the first death, which is more like sleep, and is the physical death of the body (Daniel 12:2, 1 Thessalonians 4:15). Jesus raised people from the dead.     How Should We LivePhilippians 1:21-24, Philippians 1:21, Philippians 1:27-30 Life should not and is not about how we die. Our focus should not be on death. Christ solved that already. Paul recognized it was better to die and be with Jesus, leaving the fallenness of this world and his flesh behind. Live our lives worthy of the Gospel of Christ. Christ died for us. Let us not make a mockery of His great sacrifice. We all give an account (Romans 14:11-12). Our desire must be perfect relationship with God in Heaven, but let us commit ourselves to the duties God has given us while we have time. Is Christianity really a white man's religion or should this claim be filed under the category of mythology and lies?
