For Emerson Day, storytelling came naturally from a young age. She was influenced by the sounds of a southern rock guitar and an old church piano. Growing up on her family's farm in Maryland, she would sit outside playing guitar and singing for hours.

Emerson graduated from university as a decorated Lacrosse player with her degree in Homeland Security. The same competitive nature which drew her to sports and a career in federal law enforcement, quickly engaged when she felt God calling her to pursue music. It wasn't until she started leading worship at a small church in North Carolina that God showed her the path he truly had for her.
Emerson signed her first record deal in 2022 with Fair Trade Services. Her debut to Christian music is on Micah Tyler’s song, “People Like Us” in January 2024.

Here's an exclusive performance from Emerson Day.

Rebecca Jones’s love for music began at a young age, serving behind the scenes in the events department at her church in Nashville, TN. This passion took her to Middle Tennessee State University where she graduated with a degree in Music Business.

She began her career in the music industry over 15 years ago at the Gospel Music Association, followed by The MWS Group, working directly with Michael W. Smith. author Frank Peretti and Amy Grant. Her next endeavor was booking artists like Switchfoot, Lincoln Brewster and Gungor at Elite Talent Agency, where she also played a role in jump-starting the career of hip-hop artist NF.

In 2015, Rebecca founded Redbird Artists Agency, where she is currently managing a roster primarily composed of independent worship leaders. In 2017, she founded Redbird Common - the first, purely CCM “writers in the round” series in the Nashville area.

Rebecca’s background brings with it, a wealth of knowledge and industry experience. Above all, she considers it a daily privilege to play a part in amplifying and expanding both her artists’ career and the platform they serve.

I’ve been a fan since his debut project in 2012. You might be familiar with songs like “Come To The River”, or “When Mercy Found Me”. Then Rhett disappeared from the CCM world for a bit. He has come roaring back with a new song, “Say Hello”. Stick around 'til the very end of this episode for an exclusive performance of “Murderer"!

Kevin Matthews is the reason why I’m doing what I’m (still) doing in radio broadcasting. His time at WLUP in Chicago is legendary to “Kev-Heads” around the Midwest and beyond. It wasn’t just Kevin either - it was also sports announcer “Jim Shorts”, Darnell, Devon, Ronald Reagan, Elvis, Pee Wee Herman, and a cast of others, all flowing out of the mouth and brain of Kevin. Kevin has written a book called “Broken Mary” that has given him a much different perspective on life. Pardon me while I geek out talking to my hero, Kevin Matthews.

Ben Calhoun is the lead singer of Citizen Way. He reminds me of a mix of a carnival barker, circus showman, rock star, and decent human being. Plus, at the end of the podcast, a big announcement (for me at least) about an upcoming podcast episode.

This episode is a double dose of goodness. Brett Culp is an acclaimed filmmaker and keynote speaker. I became a fan of his work with his film, “Legends of the Knight”, and since then he has another release entitled “Look To The Sky” (available on Hulu) and a companion book as well.

Bob Goff is one of the best storytellers I have ever heard speak. His first book “Love Does” was inspiring, and his latest, “Everybody Always” is now available.

I’ve loved Stryper since the first time I heard them back in the mid 80s. They have another new project out, a new bass player, a new tour, and someone’s dog recently passed.

He was the only American Idol contestant I ever voted for. Danny Gokey has a pretty amazing voice - I wonder if other people in cars heard him sing while he drove a semi truck for a job? That and more in this episode.
