Gracious God, as we begin this new school year, my heart is filled with gratitude for the gift of my child. I entrust my child, once again, into Your faithful and loving care as I send them to school. I bring the blood ofJesus, once more, over my child-their spirit, soul, body, heart, mind, and will. Fill my child afresh, today, Holy Spirit, and lead them deeper into Jesus. Protect and keep them safe from all harm.
I pray that every facet of their school experience would be a custom-made opportunity for my child to grow in friendship with Jesus and experience God’s transforming love.
Use their teacher to nurture a love for learning so they become a life-long learner who uses their knowledge and skills for the glory of God.
Holy Spirit, cultivate Christ-like character in my child so that the fruit of the Spirit is evident in their life. Give them increasing boldness to share the Gospel, in word and action, no matter the cost.
Provide my child with godly friends who make wise choices and encourage them in their faith.
Give my child a tender spirit and willingness to see and help any classmate in need.
Let Your joy be their strength and Your peace envelop them as they continue to grow in wisdom and stature this year.
May Your Kingdom come, this school year, and Your will be done, at our school, on Earth as it is in Heaven
The text of the prayer is included below:
Father,
I thank you for a new day with new mercies available to me through Your Son Jesus. I thank You
that You are with me, and that You will never leave me nor forsake me. I thank You that
everything I need for today, as a parent and a homeschooler, have been given to me for life and
godliness.
I acknowledge that my children are Yours, and You are their hope for success, life, and
fruitfulness. I acknowledge I am dependent on Your Holy Spirit to teach, thrive, and bear Your
fruit. I acknowledge that You care more about the development of my children – both in
wisdom, education, and inner life – than I do.
Today I bless my children to feel loved and supported as they navigate their school day. I bless
their minds to grow and develop. I bless their curiosity to discover new wonders and beauties in
Your world and creation. I bless them to remain connected to myself and their siblings, and that
gentleness and love would abound. I bless them to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor
with God and man.
I ask that you give me a gentle tongue, a patient heart, an innovative mind, and a quieted spirit
today. I ask that you free me from criticism, comparison, frustration, or anything else that
would steal Your purposes for joy, unity, and love in my home. I ask that You speak to me and
lead me throughout the day to lead and serve my children well.
Fill this home with Your presence – and be with us in our coming and going. Let us be quick to
repent, quick to make peace, and quick to serve one another in love.
I trust You with my children’s minds, emotions, future, and education. I trust Your promise to
have goodness and mercy following us all the days of our lives. I trust the work of Jesus that
eradicates performance and gives us the ability to live out of the truth we are accepted and
loved.
Grow us into a family that loves You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength – and live to
disciple the nations for Your glory. Amen.
