Aaron Hill is a current professional baseball player with the Milwaukee Milkman. Aaron launched his baseball career at Fitch High School in Groton, Connecticut. He was a two-time all-state high school baseball player with a 3.5 GPA and a four-year baseball player (shortstop and second baseman) at the University of Connecticut, earning his degree in Communications with a minor in Sociology.
Juggling the demanding athletic commitment with the academic stress of classes was very different from high school and riddled with challenges. Staying organized was something he thought he had mastered in high school but was instead the root cause of many college struggles. "It was much easier in high school," Aaron recalls, "No one is there holding your hand in college".
Aaron provides additional tidbits of advice, do-overs, and rearview insight on the things that mattered throughout the conversation. In his final piece of advice, he encourages kids to learn from his and other athlete's mistakes and wishes The Pickle Pod conversations had been available to him. He closes the conversation with, "I think it's going to be huge for all of these kids. I wish I had a podcast to listen to or watch about people who had gone through what I wanted to go through. I wish I had that before I was going through it … So I love what you guys are doing. Keep doing it. Appreciate it."

Lucas, currently hitting coach at St. Peter's University, a division one baseball program in Jersey City, New Jersey, started his athletic journey at his New Hampshire high school as an all-state football and baseball player. This helped him secure a spot for two years, playing shortstop at Eckerd College in Florida. He was named All Sunshine Conference Player before transferring to Franklin Pierce University and continuing his baseball success with a .335 average. He remained at Pierce, earning both an undergraduate degree and subsequently a Master’s in Business Administration.
As a student athlete, Lucas's rollercoaster-like journey included many ups and downs and plenty to learn from – including unplanned school transfers, coach clashes and changes, self-doubt, and changing majors. While these challenged Lucas along the way, he looks back at how the experiences shaped and developed him into the coach he is today and hopes he can provide insight and encouragement to kids starting the process.
In the podcast, Coach Luopa continues to share more challenges and obstacles he encountered, hoping to provide future student-athletes with valuable insights and pocket wisdom he learned along the way.
