In Jewish History, if the watchmen were caught sleeping, the temple guards would often strike them or strip them of their garments. Their assignment was essential to the security of their city and, ultimately, the nation. There is a call to the Watchmen. Don't fall asleep. Stay awake and be not ashamed. Rev. 16:15 shows us this picture: "Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."
One of the biggest misconceptions concerning the anointing of God is that the oil is for others more than it is for YOURSELF. In the story of the virgins, each virgin had to have enough oil for HERSELF first. The oil was a part of her own preparation.
Let me share a story with you that shows a picture of how when we sincerely bring God what we have to offer, He does beyond what we could ever do because His ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours.
