On The Rocks with Ron’Zena: Recent Episodes

Ron’Zena

Everyone's heard of a "mid-life crisis", but 25-year-old Ron’Zena, is going through a "quarter-life crisis". Appropriately named, On The Rocks, Ron’Zena, invites listeners in for a long pour of the good, the bad, and the sometimes drunkly that accompanies growing up. Each week, she’ll serve honest thoughts, unfiltered conversations and unqualified advice as she navigates adulthood. Nothing is off limits nor will it be sugar coated. In fact, you’ll find yourself guessing whether your hosts’ life is on the rocks or she is enjoying a drink on the rocks. All this and more, as she mixes in time to bring family, friends and sometimes experts along for their hot shots on the schematics. New episodes every Friday and bonus episodes on some Tuesdays (when your host schedule is well.. not, on the rocks).

personally, i'd have to say rest, but whichever side you stand (..or rather lay cue punny joke drum sound effect) on, i could go for either!

it’s been days of minimal rest for me and it starting to catch up. what started as quick irritation due to lack of catching the zzz’s is now manifest in my dreams!

growing up, i used to think of allergies as very black and white, meaning they were either mild or severe, you were either experiencing coughing, itching or sneezing or going into anaphylactic shock … and there was no in between

well, guess what… i am now living in the in between, because i have a gluten sensitivity.

so  if any of you are like me, and have been skeptical of allergies from a young age well then i lay out my thoughts on my recent diagnosis, share why i think the universe is serving me karma and how i anticipate my lifestyle changing with a gluten free diet

Let’s face it.  As much as we, I, you, me, want to stop talking about covid we can’t. And I believe it’s because for us average folks we are still seeing the effects on our lives. Lost jobs, income, identity, and changes galore…

Hell take it from me — in 2019, I was a wide-eyed, college graduate, green as ever ready to step into the real world with nothing but enthusiasm, passion and a few punchlines.

Well, that was not the case over this fever dream of a past two years, so lets fast-forward to today, 2022, where I take you down memory lane of the downward spiral I’ve been on all (…in part) due to covid.

Look, there will be a lot of times to come where I don't provide you with the best advice... and you know what it's up to you to take it as a grain of salt or apply it.

This is not one of those times.

In today's episode, I mourn the summer days as they are now numbered and talk about how I am trying to balance being a good employee, friend and finding enough time to sleep, which is nearly impossible.  But through hangovers, misfortune and fatigue -- I still manage to make it into work, because bad b*tches may sacrifice of sleep, but we never fumble the bag honey.

So, in the wise words of Miss Kimberley Kardashian: GET YOUR A$$ UP AND WORK!

Y’all, when I tell you I am utterly embarrassed from my screen time this week… there are no other words to express my disbelief.

In todays episode, I address how my generation, gen-z, has turned the follow button into a standard, meaning when you meet someone new it is almost expected that you are suppose to connect with them on social media.

Likewise there’s this unspoken notion that when un-following someone it’s seen as a big f u.

For this reason, I have a love / hate relationship with social media. And there are always reservations when deciding to follow or un-follow someone. Tune in to hear all that and more about my thoughts on social media.

In today's episode, I sit down with Kyle "The Worst" to spark a conversaion about how he is building a community around music and local artist.

What started as a hand-in-cheek stage name, "the worst", has now evolved into a full self-proclaimed concert series, known as The Worst Night.  As a rookie to the event coordinating space, Kyle, shares why he felt so strongly about giving local artist a platform to thrive, how collaboration (I WAS A COHOST) is key, and what is to come with future worst night productions.

If you're interested in becoming a part of "The Worst Night Productions", or would like to follow Kyle's journey you can find him on Instagram @kyle.the.worst

For the past two years, I have struggled with applying action to my purpose and the hardest part of it all was being still in the process.

When I say being still, I mean the unknowing. Not knowing who to direct questions to, how to get started or how to remain discipline once starting or what to do next. After a lot of trial an error, over time, I found there is no real answer on how other than to do.

In this part on of my Life Lessons Series, I sit down with music producer / entrepreneur Ashley Booker, to have a candid conversation about finding one's purpose, what it takes to be successful and how we are already living in a metaverse.

Uhhhhh the title says it all, need I say more?

In today's episode, Ron'Zena, addresses the elephant in the room: "how are you living at home at 25?", with the help of her mother and father... but mostly her mother, as she shares her story on why she moved back in , how a 6-month plan turned into two-years real quick, and some of the pros along with cons of living at home. With plans of moving, let's say in the near future, Ron'Zena, jokes amidst her parents on the planning involved such as: finding a place, paying rent, and being responsible for herself.  It's been fin and games living at home, but as her mother would say it's now time to --- grow up.

Lately, Ron’Zena has been feeling exhausted —spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. All though this may be true, she is hesitant to discuss the root of the problem, in fear of being deemed as “lazy” by older generations, because it stems from working.

Nearly two years ago, she said goodbye to her 9-5 lifestyle and sense then has been working multiple part-time jobs to stay afloat.

In todays episode, she discusses being overworked, underpaid and not valued in her previous career aspirations to her most current work glow up where she has found peace  in a healthy work environment and value in working for a company who respects her not only as an employee, but more importantly a human being.
