Dabney Brice
As the daughter of Haitian immigrants growing up in a predominately white suburban town, Dabney Brice knows what it’s like to be overlooked and undervalued. Her mission? To make everyone feel valued and included - to let every voice and story be seen and heard. The Uplift with Dabney Brice is a podcast where all of us, especially those who are underrepresented and misrepresented across all facets of our society, can let our stories shine. Episodes include conversations with guests to educate us on a variety of diverse communities, current events, history, culture, and topics. Let’s journey together to step outside our comfort zones, uplift each other and make the world a little bit better along the way.
Abani Rollins is definitely living her life like it’s golden. As a current law student at Michigan Law, she is grateful for her HBCU (historically black college/university) undergrad experience as it shaped her into the person and professional she is today. In this episode, we talk about the importance of HBCUs, her time on Capitol Hill, and the life she’s creating for herself.

Despite being one of the richest countries in the world, why does the United States have the highest maternal mortality rate out of all developed countries? In this episode, we talk about maternal health with Cecelia Lim, a registered nurse working with babies and parents in the NICU at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She answers that question along with giving us a glimpse into the gaps in our healthcare system before, during, and after birth. Cecelia also breaks down the stigma against midwives and doulas and emphasizes their importance to maternal care.

Currently in the United States, there are over 800,000 people who are under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. These ‘dreamers’ were brought into the country as children from all over the world and DACA allows them to work and study here without fear of retaliation and deportation. Now we hear so many varying views on the program, but what is it like being a Dreamer? Today, we have current Lehigh senior and DACA recipient, Julius Wibisono to share his experiences. We talk about what support DACA has given him, his hopes for the future, and what ‘home’ means to him.
