An honest podcast about finding happiness, what it really means and the process of getting there. This podcast will focus on conversations with people from around the world who explain what happiness is to them, how they found it (or are working on finding it in life) and what lessons they've learned along the way. We can all learn from each others life stories, struggles and triumphs. We live in this amazingly diverse world where life, culture and daily life varies day to day. By hearing from people who come from different backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles we will explore how we are all simply looking to live a life full of joy and purpose every day.
This is probably one of the hardest podcasts that I have ever had to post. The podcast is going to take the next six months off, as I take the next six months off from my business and everything that I have created with Chasing Happiness. I will explain this a little bit better in the blog post for next week but there will be no new podcasts from now until the new year while I take some much-needed time for myself to reset and refocus.
This week will start some of the replay episodes that I will be playing from the last seven years. We have had a lot of great guest, and a lot of wonderful conversations over the last seven years as this podcast has grown. I thought you would start our replay episodes in honour of Walt Disney World, since I am at Walt Disney World this week, with my amazing conversation with Lou Mongello of WDW Radio.
Lou has been an amazing friend, a wonderful supporter, a business mentor and so much more to me over the years that it felt right to make this one of our replay episodes. It felt especially right to make it the very first one of the replay episodes over the last seven years because he has been such an important part of me creating this podcast to begin with. The Chasing Happiness podcast would not exist without Lou Mongello.
I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed the conversation. Please feel free to follow Lou and his amazing journey and all of the things that he does in the world after listening to this episode at the links below.

Starting a business can be terrifying, starting one in the middle of a pandemic even more so. Add to that, creating a business for women by women and you may just think "what was I thinking" but thankfully for us the ladies who started Ovry were willing to take the risk.
Ovry is a business focused on education and making reproductive care accessbile and affordable to everyone. This week on the podcast I talk with Jackie, one of the cofounders of Ovry about why they created this company any why education around women's reproductive health is so important.
We chat about what it was like too launch the company in the middle of a pandemic, how hard it has been to help some people understand that this is something many women are concerned about. With many choosing to hold off on starting a family until later in life, many who struggle to start a family when they are ready, and many who have decided not to have a family based on whatever their life circumstances and choices are, being able to have access to government regulated products that are affordible and that can assist them in whatever their life goals are, is important.
We talk about lessons learned along the way and Jackie shares with us some of the things that have been eye-opening for her. The fabulous learning opportunities as a company while they launched this business. This Canadian owned company is trying to create a world where we all have access to the health products we need. Where no one is judged for the choices they make about fertility and health and most of all, they are trying to level the playing field around womens health.
Jackie shares with us some words of wisdom as well as life lessons she's learned through this process and of course we chat a little about where the company is going, and what her long-term goals are. We talk briefly about why women's fertility was an important topic and a good starting place for the company, and how they're now expanding into products to monitor male fertility as well. Jackie has some big plans for this company and happily shares her vision with all of us this week on the podcast.
As a woman who struggles with fertility issues myself, this conversation hit close to home. For many listeners may be the case. Please be advised we do talk about fertility issues in this episode. As a woman who has experienced infertility I understand this may not be an episode for everyone.
Jackie has also been generous enough to give all of the listeners to the Chasing Happiness podcast a 15% discount on all of the products offered by Ovry, Use Code: CHASINGHAPPINESS15 on the site when you order.

Sometimes we all need the reminder that taking a step back, and taking time away is needed. We should not feel bad or guilty about it.
What do you do when you feel lost?
How do we find our purpose when we feel like we have none?
Can learning bring you joy?
What happens in your life if you open yourself up to the possibility of creating something a little different for your life?
This week on the podcast, I chat with the author Theresa Contaxis about her book "The Littlest SailBoat" and how that project not only changed her life but can also help us all change ours. She shares with us why her journey of exploration into other spiritual teachings has taught her to keep learning.
We talk about why it's so essential for us all to keep learning and growing. Theresa shares how she ended up on her fantastic journey and how we can all change our lives no matter where we find ourselves. She shares some wisdom and gives us all the reminders that we can connect to anything that feels right to us.

For most of us who live on the East Coast this year, Christmas looked a little different. With what they called the storm of the century, thousands of people got snowed in, got stranded away from their family, and had a Christmas that looked very different than what they had expected. No matter how your holidays turned out, I hope you know it's OK to be sad. It's OK to be happy and joyful regardless of the outcome. This year Christmas likely looked different for you than you had expected and it's OK if you're not sure how to process that yet. No matter where you found yourself, or what was happening, I hope you know you are loved and valued. Merry Christmas
With anxiety on the rise and the holiday season upon us, this week is the perfect time for us to have a conversation about anxiety. About stress and how to manage it with a Doctor who does the research and knows what will make a difference. Let's face it, with the last couple of years being as stressful and as anxiety inducing as they have been, most of us haven't stopped to take a breath and process everything that we've been caring with us for the last couple of years.
This week Dr Caroline Buzanko shares with us how we can manage our own anxiety and stress but also how we can teach children to handle theirs. We chat about the last couple of years and how that has impacted anxiety and stress levels. She shares some of the information from her research and gives us some tips and tricks so that we can all try to get just a little bit better every day at managing our anxiety and learning how to do that.

With the holidays fast approaching, it is that time of year again for most of us to feel overworked, overstressed, and maybe even slightly underappreciated. So this holiday season, give yourself a break and take a couple of minutes a day to remind yourself it's okay to feel however you feel at the moment. It's okay to be overwhelmed and you do not have to do everything.
Just an update this week to let you all know I made it back across the country again. Moving is stressful and can be a lot of chaos and doing it in the winter around the holidays is just added stress so if you are like me at all, make sure you get a good support system to help you.
Grief is a subject many shy away from. We now live in a society where we only experience grief and death when it's personal to us. We no longer experience these things as a community and support each other as a community. This week on the podcast I'm chatting with Silke Herwald about how this changes affecting us, why it's important for us to remember that grief is different for everyone.
We talk about why it's so important for us all to have support. How grief can affect us in moments we don't even think could be affected. We chat about how sometimes simple things like your morning routine change when you lose a loved one and how that can affect every aspect of your day.
Silke shares her advice and experience with loss and gives us some advice on how best to support people in our lives who are living with grief.

This weeks podcast is just a quick update while I pack a U-Haul and move my life back across the country once again. Happy holidays everyone.
Travel has a way of opening us all up to new ideas, new cultures and new versions of ourselves. Those are just a few of the reasons why April Bielefeldt decided to create a life that involved travel. As a travel expert, travel photographer and woman on a mission to help teach people creative ways to travel, April has all kinds of tips, tricks and suggestions for anyone who wants to get started but may be unsure how to do so.
This isn't the path she thought she would end up on, but as she discussed with me this week, sometimes life leads us to the things we are meant to do. She shares exactly how she ended up focused on travel and why she views it as such a life-changing experience for people.
She shares how being creative about travel can not only save you money but help you to truly experience a new place in a way that helps you connect to local people as well as those who are also travelling like you. April is building a community of like-minded travellers who can support each other, answer questions for those who are new to travel and create a supportive environment that encourages curiosity.

Sometimes our lives lead us down a path we never intended to end up on. This is exactly what happened to Carol as she helped an aging mother, tried to balance raising her family and had to deal with the loss of the love of her life.
As you can imagine, this changed her profoundly, and this week on the podcast, Carol shares with us how this led her to become a coach for women trying to rediscover who they are.
Carol and I chat about how loss and grief have no real timeline. We talk about how we live in a world where we are told we "should" be over our feelings, but the truth is, you process things like grief in small pieces at a time because otherwise, it would be too overwhelming to process.
Carol gives us all some advice on how to be kind to ourselves in our journeys, and we chat about what it means to be grateful and allow for moments when we can be overwhelmed by our feelings.

Has it felt like for the last two years, you've been living a life that doesn't feel like it makes sense anymore?

Research is starting to show that our gut health plays a large role in our overall health, mental health and happiness.
This week on the podcast, I chat with Gut Health Expert and Nutritionist Donna Monthei about why our gut health matters and why so many of us may need to take a look at what our gut health really is.
Western medicine tends to treat the symptoms of gut health without a focus on what is causing the issue or how to increase the good bacteria in our guts in order to avoid problems going forward. Donna focuses on helping people to avoid problems rather than deal with symptoms they may be thinking are 'normal' for them and their health.
Donna shares with us some things we should all be doing to increase our overall gut health and shares her personal story of what led her to this career path.

How do we change the world around us to be kinder?

This week on the podcast Mark shares with me why he wrote his book "Give A Damn" to help us all learn the importance of giving a damn about our communities, our workplaces and our lives.
We chat about how simple things like caring about others can lead to more joy and more pleasure in your own life. Why we should all look at how we can give back and support our hopes and dreams by supporting others.
With years of experience working for companies like IBM Mark has seen a lot of change in the business world and shares his insights as an entrepreneur and why his hope is to turn Giving A Damn into a movement.

This week on the podcast I'm joined by Katherine from Katalyst Coaching and we chat about how building trust within ourselves as women is such an important part of our personal growth.
She shares how building that trust in our intuition is like any other exercise, it's something we need to keep practicing until we have the muscle built up. Until it becomes natural for us to trust it. So many women simply have learned through the world to not trust their intuition to guide them in life so having to unlearn and relearn how to do this as an adult is vital in our lives.
Katherine shares why she started her podcast (My Dead Dragon) as a way to help women share their stories of transforming their own lives because they realized no one else was coming to save them or change their lives so they had to stand up for themselves. We talk about how hard it is to navigate the process of change and just how transformative it can be, not just to your life, but to the lives of everyone around you as well.

What do you do when your husband asks you what you want to do in life?
Delane Cooper took the opportunity to start trying things she thought she might like. Delane shares how she did this, why she chose to go into jewelry making and how we can all have an impact in the world no matter what we do for a living.
As a fellow scuba diver we chat about life, lessons and how we can all create rituals that bring us joy and clarity in our daily lives outside of our routines.

Life doesn't come with an instruction manual and we can't possibly know things we have never been taught. Having someone with experience who can help you navigate those things you've never been through before can be helpful in times of stress.
From Disney to Travel during Covid-19 Jaime and I have a conversation about change, adaptation and how we can all learn from the last year to be less stressed and have more faith in the bigger plan. After a long and hard year Jaime is moving forward in her life and her career in big ways and she shares the lessons she has learned that we can take with us to move forward.
This week on the podcast I am blessed to be joined by Dunia Darwiche to have a conversation about how to find purpose in this life. We talked about death and how this last year has changed how we process grief. We had an amazing conversation about how we can all start to figure out our purpose and how to follow those gut instincts we have.
Dunia is on an amazing journey herself and I hope you enjoy our conversation but also that you will follow her and her amazing journey as well. There is so much we can learn from each other and I am grateful for people like Dunia who are willing to share their stories with us. What if you had to pay for your opinions?
Would you force what you think is right on other people?
Would you wager your home or your life savings on what you think?
This week on the podcast I talk about a thought experiment I heard recently that I wanted to share with you.
Madi made a choice as a teen to follow a friend of hers to Haiti and do some humanitarian outreach at an orphanage. This experience changed her and opened her eyes to the world around her. This week on the podcast I chat with Madi about how this shaped her, why she made this choice and what her advice is for anyone who is thinking about making a trip or starting to do outreach work like she did.
Some people can't wait for the world to re-open and for life to get back to normal. Others are going to need time to adjust and feel safe in order to get back to some of those 'normal' activities. As parts of the world re-open and get back to the new normal you need to focus on you, your family and not worry about what others are choosing or not choosing to do. Respect others choices and do what makes you feel comfortable and safe.
This week on the Podcast I had the pleasure of speaking with Chris Delaney. Chris is known as the Intentional Connector: conscious business architect, thought leader, creative visionary, and expert in human connection.
His core mission is to end human
suffering by redefining the collective narrative around business and how we experience true
connection.
I got to know Chris through the clubhouse app and we chat about the movement he is creating and how we can all live a vibrant and full life. Check out the movement at shorturl.at/qrFV6
“The beautiful life you desire is not a matter of chance, it’s a matter of intention.” - Chris Delaney
My life is a sudden mix of chaos and challenges, how I approach it is what's going to determine the outcome. Today's episode is short and sweet. How are you showing up for the challenges in your life?
This week on the podcast I have the pleasure of speaking with the wonderful Sarah McGovern who I connected with on the clubhouse app but as you will hear via our conversation we have many things in common. The nice weather is here, for most of us now. Vaccines are rolling out all over the world.
Have you thought about this summer?
Do you know what you are going to do in order to give yourself a break?
Have you thought about how you can enjoy yourself this year by getting back to some of your favourite activities?
This week on the podcast I'm talking about why we need to be thinking about this summer and what we want to enjoy right now.
This week on the podcast I had the pleasure of chatting with Matt Zinman, the author of Z-ISMS and an advocate for male mental health.
We chat about clubhouse, about mental health, as well as Matts journey to finding happiness and what it means to him after this last year.
If you want to check out some of the resources he offers or courses he is putting together please check out his website https://mattzinman.com
Are you starting to feel unproductive?
Do you turn on the TV for hours each night to zone out and block out the world?
Are you feeling like you're getting nothing done?
This week I talk about taking a real look at how much time we are all sitting in front of the TV each night
This week on the podcast I got to sit down with Beci from MEI Travel and chat about how this last year has been in the travel industry as well as what we all have to look forward to now that travel is starting to open back up.
This episode was taped a few weeks ago so some of the things we chat about have changed since this was recorded so if you have any questions about any form of travel please contact her.

If you can't voice what you want out of life, the universe will never put it in front of you. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want, even if you think others may judge you for it.
This week on the podcast I had the pleasure to chat with Mr. Fred from https://www.getmecoding.com about how this last year has been for teachers, what all he has learned and how we can all learn from what he has been through. He tells me why he became an educator and entrepreneur while being a young father and how it has shaped him.
Check out his TPR podcast (website is https://teacherpeprally.com) and join him (and me) on Saturdays for his Coffee, Computers and Coding.
I've been taking part in a daily meetup (virtually) to set daily intentions and it has changed how I approach everything I do throughout the course of my day. A HUGE thank you to Chris Delaney for the clubhouse room (if you aren't on clubhouse you can still set intentions) that inspired todays podcast topic. Intentions can change how we move throughout the day and it is such an important part of changing our mindset.
This last year has forced us to look at how we really connect with people and what kinds of connections matter to us. Will you change how you form connections moving forward?

As Covid-19 has changed most things for us this last year, birthdays are no exception. My 40th birthday is this week and I can't celebrate how I typically would so I've decided to do some things that I can do while on lockdown that are still meaningful. This week on the podcast I chat about those and why we all need to celebrate, even if it has to be a little different this year.
It's been a stressful and chaotic week for a lot of people. This week take the time to focus on what you can control. The things you can do to reduce your stress levels and make space in your life for what you need to do to make yourself a priority.
This week on the podcast I chat with Lou Mongello from WDW radio ( https://www.wdwradio.com ) about how he left his law career and turned what he loved about Disney into what he does for a living.
Lou is an Author, A Podcaster, and of course the Disney Trivia King. Above all that Lou is a trusted friend and advisor. We chat about all of this and so much more.

Today on the podcast I had the pleasure of chatting with Sarah from Community Crew. A Charity Organization in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario that feeds more than 1000 nutritious lunches to kids in need each week.
We chat about the program, how we can all help, and why it matters so much this year. Check out their website https://www.communitycrew.ca and donate if you can.
I was shocked last week to learn that studies are showing we are losing our ability to think critically. How can such an important skill for our personal growth and well-being be disappearing?
Today on the podcast I chat with R. Dawn Hutchinson about being an Author, how she ended up becoming one, and what life is like when you make up worlds full of magic. She talks openly about 2020 and chats about writing her first book without telling the people in her life at first.
With two books under her belt, she has some great advice for people looking to make changes or try something new in life.
If you want to check out more, which I highly recommend, visit her website at https://www.rdawnhutchinson.com/books
Every year as part of the Chasing Happiness community I host 12 Days Of Giveaways so today on the podcast I chat about how you can take part in that and all the other fun things I do over the holiday season to spread love and light.
This week on the podcast I talk about the 3 blessings exercise and why it might help you if you find it hard to create a gratitude journal.
The world looks a lot different these days. Some people never thought this would last 8 months but I think we all should pat ourselves on the back for making it this far.
Covid-19 has changed a lot of things this year but we can still enjoy Halloween while staying safe and having fun.
We all feel like we don't have enough time. Not enough hours in each day to get it all done. The truth is we just prioritize our time differently based on what we value. So the question is what do you value? Where are you spending your time?
This week's Podcast is an update to my 30 days caffeine-free from Aug - Sept.
It did not go as well as I hoped, but I did learn a lot and I sleep better.
We have gotten so used to having noise in the background of every minute of every day. It has caused us to disconnect from our minds, our bodies, and our thoughts.
This week on the podcast we are going to learn to sit in silence.
Taking time away from technology is important for our mental health. Now with Covid-19 and our social lives dependent on zoom meetings and social media we need a break now more than we ever have before.
This week on the podcast I talk about why we need to stop paying attention to the number on the scale. A number on a scale doesn't tell us anything about our health and only adds to our stress and unhappiness.
As we get older we stop looking at the world with amazement and a sense of awe. We no longer see the universe as magical. We don't wonder how bees fly or why butterflies are so beautiful.
We need more awe and wonder in our lives.
When was the last time you did something just for yourself?
Something that benefited no one other than you?
This week on the podcast I'm talking about why we all need to be investing in ourselves.
We have to be careful about how harshly we judge people for mistakes they made decades ago. People change over time, society changes over time. What we think is okay today will be different than what we thought was okay 30 years ago.
This week on the podcast I chat about all of this and why we should be cautious.
Thank you for listening. When I started this podcast I didn't think it would be something I enjoyed. This week on the podcast I talk about how we made it to 75 episodes and thank you.
A lot of times we try to please everyone. We get caught up in trying to make everyone else happy at the expense of our own happiness.
This week on the podcast I talk about why we have to learn to be okay with the fact that not everyone will love us no matter what we do.
What do you have as a part of your daily life that makes you smile for no reason?
This week on the podcast I talk about why we all need more glitter in our lives.
This week on the podcast I talk about why we shouldn't be comparing our journey to someone else. We need to give ourselves grace and honour where we are on our path.
This week on the podcast we revisit an episode from earlier this year. This is our most listened to episode so far this year so I thought it was worth revisiting.
This week on the podcast I'm talking wine, family-run businesses, and Multiple Sclerosis with Justine and Stephanie.
Over 77,000 live with MS; almost ¾ are women. On average, 8 women and 3 men are diagnosed with MS every day in Canada.
Canada has one of the highest rates of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the world. While it is most often diagnosed in young adults aged 20 to 49, younger children and older adults are also diagnosed with the disease.
To purchases the wine we chat about please go to www.carolinecellars.com and part of the proceeds go to MS research.
Also check out the MS Society of Canada for facts, information and to donate MS Society of Canada
This week on the podcast I'm talking about the ACEs research and why it matters to all of us.
I am not an expert but I believe that we can all learn from this study and improve our lives.
Today on the podcast I talk about the importance of being able to take personal time when we need it. When I woke up this morning I had a "to-do" list a mile long but I didn't feel well so I was faced with a choice. Work and only give it about 30% or move everything around so you can take personal time to feel better.
This is something we all need to be doing more of.
This week on the podcast I'm talking to Rebecca Winn about her recently published first book One Hundred Daffodils.
The book is an engaging, wise, and uplifting reflection on human resilience and nature’s ability to teach, inspire, and heal after an unexpected life upheaval, One Hundred Daffodils Rebecca's story of her journey toward self-discovery and empowerment.
To purchases the book, please contact your local book store or click here https://amzn.to/2ZjV8ud

This Fathers Day I started thinking about all the dad, uncles, and other men who influence us.
Thank you for being apart of it all. When I started the blog 5 years ago I never thought I would be here.
It's been a long week for many of us. Every time we turn around something new seems to be taking place. So this week I wanted to focus on the conversation we all need to have about life in order for us to grow and change. We don't talk about things like how much money we make or why protests happen. We need to get used to having uncomfortable conversations about every aspect of life if we hope to grow.
It's hard right now with the world changing to get human contact, but we could all benefit from it
Summer is coming and this summer may look a lot different from your last summer. Do you have a plan in place to make sure it is still enjoyable?
Some days will be better, more productive days. Others won't and that is okay right now.
Right now it can be hard for us all not to be overcome by all the fear, try not to let it consume you
Right now the world seems crazy and unreal. There are things we can do from home that help our communities. Find a way to give back if you can.
Things are getting crazy, chaotic and frankly a little scary. It can be hard in all of this to remember that we need to just take a deep breath for a minute. None of us is alone in all of this and we have the ability to manage our personal level of stress.
This week on the podcast I'm asking you to look at your needs, think about if they are being met and how to get them met if they are going unmet at this moment.
Do you have a bucket list? Maybe you need one? This week I chat about why we all need something to look forward to and how a bucket list can help.

Debt is one of those things that eats away at us. How can we ever get out from under it? How will we pay it off when we have so much and live pay to pay? This week on the podcast I talk about debt and how to make a plan to reduce your stress and get on track.
This week on the Podcast I chat about why you need to be celebrating your birthday, no matter what age you are.
