That prosperity Gospel turned the church to the devil. People have been trying to leave the Church since brother Malcolm’s day, but they gained some moral legitimacy from Martin Luther King Jr., especially with it not being as clear how the church held them back. Once that prosperity Gospel came in and the preachers started talking about the wealth that God wants you to have, they lost everyone that reads their Bible. The pews were filled with the spiritually dead, and children forced to follow their parent's traditions. The moment they reach maturity, they find a real religion and never go back.
I say preacher or pastor to these young movement Brothers and Sisters, they laugh. Why? Letting one speak is more likely to be signal boosting a child rapist than add anything of value. The church is dead, and the clergy killed it.
I was raised to be a preacher but converted to Buddhism through a process earlier than this decline and unrelated. Still, I've always had a bit of reverence for the Christian religion. It's too bad it's adherents don't care enough to keep their faith close to Jesus Christ and his message so the righteousness of the holy spirit would preserve the church.
Jesus does abide by these feckless buffoons and doctrine of the devil. “He sends strong delusion that they might be damned that love not the truth but take pleasure in unrighteousness” and that strong delusion is that sitting out the Civil Rights movement two won’t be the final confirmation that the institution that could once claim a moral spine finally gave in to the money changers to be just as bad as the white abomination it calls worship of Jesus. As the white evangelical church stole the heart and compassion of Christ, the black church stole his balls to make them useless.
We are fighting violent racist. Don't be surprised they are violent or that the violent racist cops aid them in the violence. If that wasn't who they are, we wouldn't be out here.

I'm so thankful for the allies that messaged me and explained uncomfortable truths that intersect with race, class, opportunity, and gender. It's difficult to tell a preacher "take it to grace" or to focus less on escatology after a sermon. Its an act of trial by fire to tell a preacher who is black and has a mental illness that... umm... caused me to threaten to kick Joe Lieberman's Ass that he needs to when he's forced out into the streets to defend his family's lives during a global pandemic and by a racist act of stochastic terrorism against African Americans in the United States.
