I have been feeling uncomfortable because of all the conflict that is going on in the world, often concerning things that are beyond my control, including the growing amount of anti-semitism. In this episode, I discuss this and other thoughts about living in a world with so much hate.
Highlights
We can’t have peace in the world until people learn to live with each other.
If you are worried about inflation and aren’t paying attention to what’s going on, you might vote for people who don’t have your interests at heart.
If you elect angry people, you’re not going to have a peaceful world.
People who are brought up in homes with a lot of fighting, often become angry as adults.
Hate makes no sense to me.
We need to find ways of finding peace within ourselves and learning how to love ourselves and others.
If you were brought up in an abusive home, it’s almost impossible to love and appreciate yourself because you weren’t taught how to do that.
It’s hard for me to keep quiet when I see what looks, to me, like injustice.
I believe that love is the healer.
Something has to change in the way we are thinking, believing, and behaving to get over the amount of anxiety that’s present in the society now.
You can’t change what’s going on in society, but you can change what’s going on within yourself.
Right now, people are picking on Jews. At some point, it’ll be a different group because people who don’t love themselves have to have “the other” to pick on.
There are too many people on this planet to be in conflict.
We don’t need more war. We need to teach peace.
Are you willing to learn how to be a peaceful person? If you’re not, then you’ll probably wind up with all sorts of diseases.
My goal is to help people find health, wealth, and peace of mind. I hope to do this through The MetaMind Circle.
You can’t be truly prosperous unless you have peace of mind.
The people who make the most noise are often not the ones who are trying to build a peaceful world.

At the core of her diverse career is a passionate dedication to helping individuals live their highest potentiality. She shares her journey and how others can reach their full potential in her first book, 911 From Your Soul.
Highlights
Jeanine Thompson shares what she went through before she committed to bringing what she was learning about the soul into business.
For Jeanine, the soul is the eternal essence of who we are.
Potentiality is about living a satisfying and peaceful life. It does not require that people reach a point of predefined success.
We talk about whether or not understanding who we are is age-related.
Jeanine’s hope for people is that they learn to truly love who they are and know that they are the intelligence of love.
We talk about understanding the Oneness.
Our systems are fundamentally broken and flawed in many ways, especially as they teach that there is something wrong with us that needs fixing.
Business touches every aspect of life, which is why Jeanine wants to bring her message to the business world where she functioned for many years.
Our uniqueness is our gift to the world.
There is a spiritual and emotional underpinning to disease and physical discomfort.
We have to learn to trust our inner direction.
Nature is a terrific catalyst. It is a gateway to our wisdom. It helps our minds soften and go into the wonder.
Whatever you are seeking is who you are.
Jeanine shares some ideas on how you can connect to your true self.

It sometimes surprises me when I realize how unaware people are of what’s going on inside and around them. In this episode, I talk about different kinds of awareness and how becoming more aware can improve your life and what you can do to increase your awareness.
Highlights
Especially if you are in business, you have to be aware of so much more than what’s going on in your life.
If you’re not aware, it’s easy to fall prey to manipulative forces that are doing their best to affect your opinions and buying habits.
Raising your awareness helps you better understand both yourself and the world around you.
People who are busy surviving can’t necessarily pay attention – or develop awareness – about what’s going on around them.
Those who enjoy a higher income life often lose interest or awareness of people who have to struggle just to survive.
A lot of people who get caught up in crime and drugs have had a difficult childhood.
With awareness comes the ability to make decisions that can lead you to a more comfortable life and positive outcomes.
If you’re stuck in who you have been, you’ll have a hard time making profitable decisions. We aren’t going back to “normal”.
If you make the decision to become more aware, your life is going to get better. I promise.
Even if you don’t want to meditate, just sit still doing nothing for 10 minutes a day. I talk about how to do this effectively.
Are you satisfied with what you’re doing? And if you’re not, what are you doing to change what you’re doing?
Make a decision to become more aware no matter what your current level of awareness is.
I talk about the Supreme Court and how their decisions affect you whether you pay attention or not.
The power to change whatever you want to change, it just doesn’t happen quickly and you may have to learn something new.
If you become aware that food companies don’t have your best interest at heart, maybe you’ll make a change.
The chaos that we’re all going to be experiencing is going to affect all of us and you will fare better if you pay attention to what’s happening.

There is a connection between your physical and mental health and the success of your business or career. In this episode, I explore different ways that you can begin to incorporate self-care into your routines in order to succeed.
Highlights
From my point of view, the American medical system is not working. I explain why.
Individual needs vary and by understanding how your body works, you can find solutions that are specific for you.
I talk about a recent hair mineral tissue analysis test I recently did, and the results allowed me to fully understand how important it is to learn about your body and not just trust the practitioners – including doctors – to whom you go for advice.
It’s hard to know what you need to know, which is why it’s important to develop your intuition.
I explore why via Conscious Synchronicity I didn’t learn about the results sooner.
You have to be ready and willing to be healthy in order to be led to the things you need.
You have more power than you realize to have your life work well and you feel good physically.

Judy Wilkins-Smith is a world-renowned Family Patterns, Systemic Work and Constellations Expert, Author, and Motivational Speaker who offers guidance on how to decode your emotional DNA and shift the unconscious inherited patterns that are no longer serving you. Her new book is Decoding Your Emotional Blueprint: A Powerful Guide to Transformation Through Disentangling Multigenerational Patterns.
Highlights
Originally from South Africa, Judy Wilkins-Smith is now in the United States and tells how she got into constellation work.
Judy explains the meaning and effects of “Emotional DNA” and its epigenetic component. She explains the meaning of epigenetics.
The advantage of decoding your emotional DNA is that you see you’re not actually stuck and can change what isn’t working for you.
Judy explains how to recognize your patterns so you can make changes.
People, generally, have been brought up to believe that suffering is necessary. When we change that pattern, we can have better outcomes. This is not difficult, but it does take time.
Judy talks about how to change a habitual trauma response to a triumph response, both of which happen in the brain quickly.
People are often afraid to make changes because if they do, they won’t belong anymore. Making changes is not changing the system but rather expanding it. When you do this, you become a pioneer.
We talk about how stepping outside of the pack creates leaders who overcome their feeling of not belonging by creating followers.
When people resist change, it’s often because they have an unresolved issue. Once they resolve it, it’s easier to switch. Until they do that, the unconscious loyalties and hidden patterns will keep them stuck.
Judy gives suggestions for what you can do to move forward and how to look at your money patterns.
Judy wants people to remember that everybody's got exactly what they need to go as far as they want and suffering isn't sacred. It's stupid.

While reading Spellbound by Dr. Dan Lieberman, who I interviewed in the last episode, I was struck by the sentence, “The purpose of life is to become your true self”. I have been thinking about that a lot and, in this episode, I share some of my thoughts.
Highlights
Although you may share some characteristics with other people, no one is exactly like you. You are totally unique and perfect the way you are.
We are programmed to always be looking for people like us, yet it is our differences that can make life interesting.
I don’t think that our uniqueness has been celebrated enough.
A lot of our societal loneliness is due to people not knowing how to know love themself.
We aren’t taught to appreciate our differences.
For business people, our businesses are an opportunity for us to learn more about ourselves.
Because of the Covid pause, a lot of people are evaluating their lives and what’s important to them. They’re also asking, “What do I want to do now and who do I want to be or become?”
I talk about the process I’ve been going through in putting together my new business.
In business, we have to learn how to interact with other people who are not us.
Everything you do in business is your opportunity to learn more about who you are, your values, and who you were willing to be in the world.
Giving ourselves permission for self-exploration is one of the greatest gifts we can give to ourselves.
You have the right to love and take care of yourself.
Each one of us is given what we need to become who we're becoming, and that’s different for every person.
You have the opportunity to ask yourself, “What do I want to keep and what do I want to change?” It’s important to not judge that which you want to change as bad.
Getting in touch with yourself is one of the most important things you can do.

He is the Co-author of the international bestseller The Molecule of More, which has been translated into 20 languages. He is also the Author of the recently published Spellbound: Modern Science, Ancient Magic, and the Hidden Potential of the Unconscious Mind.
Highlights
Dr. Lieberman explains how his interest in the topics found in his new book started in the 1980s when he stumbled upon the works of Carl Jung and was blown away.
He doesn’t talk about synchronicity because he wanted to talk about mysticism from a scientific viewpoint.
In his book, Dr. Lieberman says that “the purpose of life is to become your true self”. This is harder than it sounds because we tend to learn through suffering.
The unconscious mind has a profound effect on how we experience life and who we are.
The pain and suffering of life exists in the service of growth.
“The shadow” part of us forms when we push away all the things that we think is wrong to be. But at some point, we have to deal with this shadow.
The more we allow ourselves to feel the darkness within ourselves, the easier it is to let it go. The polarization that is happening now is because people are afraid to acknowledge their shadow.
The closer we get to our true self the more unique we become.
Cultivating awareness is essential.
Inspiration can change the course of our life. Inspiration can change history.
The vast majority of our lives is driven by our unconscious.
Dr. Lieberman talks about the three forms of meditation that he discusses in his book including focused awareness.

I have been looking at how we change as we grow older as part of a natural process. In this episode, I talk about how so many aspects of ourselves go through a maturing process that affects our mind-body along with how we perceive things and how we perceive ourselves.
Highlights
I have come to see that as we grow older, many aspects of us change, but our core stays the same.
The Money Energy Tuneup that I did recently deeply affected me as well as others who attended or listened to the recording.
In the 1980s, I developed my crystal business using my intuition. It was the first one like it and this required that I do something unique and innovative.
After the crystal business, as I created something else, I tended to follow the rules that I learned from other people, and I did this for many years. Now I see that I never reached my original level of success because I wasn’t following my own inner guidance.
In Spellbound, the author says that the purpose of life is finding your true self. I’m trying to stay true to that as I form The MetaMind Circle.
Don’t think there’s something wrong with you or that you’ve done something wrong, you are just going through a normal journey of self-discovery.
Part of finding the real you is finding the part of you that’s connected to the Universal Force, which from my point of view, is love.
It’s interesting to realize how everything has changed over the past decades. We’re all going through some major changes now that are going to affect all of us and how we view our lives.
The chaos that we’re going through is different from chaos of the past because so many things are changing at once.
Adapting well to change is important in this day and age.
Finding your true self means finding your light, your talent – and not denying it.
You don’t have to follow the rules all the time if the rules don’t feel right to you and if you’re trying to discover your true self.
No one can tell you what’s right for you — you have to discover that for yourself by listening to your inner promptings.

In today’s episode, I talk about developing trust – trust in the world, trust in your place in the world, and most importantly, trust in yourself – and how developing trust can affect your business and life outcomes.
Highlights
People often tell me that they are aware that they have an inner voice but are afraid to follow it and don’t take action.
The old rules in many sectors no longer apply and the new rules having been settled yet, which causes uncertainty and fear.
When I’m building something innovative, I have to take chances because I’m not building it on old information. Therefore, sometimes things don’t work out, and that’s okay.
It’s necessary to develop a communication system with your body-mind-spirit that works for you and tests over time.
The more you develop your inner awareness, the better your life will work.
The more you understand your inner operating system, the easier it is to make new decisions.
Whatever or whomever you don’t trust is not about them, it’s about you not trusting yourself.
Different people work in different ways. I’ve come to realize that I work best when I’m following my inner guidance. I don’t know how to follow other people’s rules.
If you let things grow organically, then it’s easier to innovate because you’re not building upon past knowledge.
I present some ideas as to how you can learn to trust yourself and your intuition.
Our minds are part of a network of minds that have an energetic connection. If you express yourself freely, it’s easier to be led to the information and people you need because of this connection.

Dr. Philippe Douyon is a Board Certified Neurologist who helps high-performance individuals and business leaders crack the code to hacking the most powerful tool at your disposal: your brain. From years of witnessing first-hand the disastrous effects of neurological disorders,
Dr. Douyon discovered that the solution was simple: take charge of your brain. Many of us don’t realize that you do not have to fall victim to your neurological makeup. Dr. Douyon believes that success in life and business starts in the brain and is on a mission to spread the empowering message that you CAN rewire your brain to create a life you were meant to live, regardless of age, all without prescribing a single pill. His book is Neuroplasticity: Your Brain's Superpower: Change Your Brain and Change Your Life.
Highlights
Dr. Philippe Douyon shares his experience as a kidney transplant patient and how it affected his life. To overcome the trauma, he focused on goals rather than his problems.
We talk about his perception of the medical system and how he deals with it.
Doctors are too specialized.
I asked how he maintains his equanimity while working in the system that he finds so flawed. He describes the path he’s been taking as he spreads the word about alternative approaches to medical care.
We talk about what it is inside of the brain that allows us to have mystical and other spiritual experiences.
There are senses outside of the usual five senses that are usually discussed. We talk about intuition and other so-called extrasensory perceptions.
You can think about your brain more as a relay station rather than just who you are, and it’s capable of tuning in to other people and other energies around you.
Our brains are in charge only when you let them be. When our brains are in charge, that can lead to a lot of chaos.
You have to do some things every day to keep your brain healthy like exercising, eating right, minimizing stress, constantly learning and evolving, and meditating or sitting silently.
The lifestyle choices you make every day affect your brain.
People in the older generation are finding it easier than young people to adapt to change because they’re looking for something different. He explains.
To deal with uncertainty, understand that the present moment is the only moment you have. Focus on that rather than the past or the future.
Your brain will always try to prove you right.
95% of your thoughts are the same thoughts you had yesterday.
From the moment we are born, people are trying to take control of our thoughts.
When people become aware of how powerful they are, they can take control of their thoughts and their lives.
Which messages are you going to allow in and who are the people you’re surrounding yourself with?
Neurons are built for communication. Every neurological problem is based on neurons not communicating. So, it’s important for people to learn to communicate better with each other.

With all the dissension the country in the world is experiencing, how does one maintain a state of calm and inner peace? In this episode, I offer some suggestions as well as explaining how brain chemicals affect our inner world and how we can regulate them.
Highlights
Any time you experience the feeling of love, your brain releases oxytocin, which is known as the love chemical, and it has a healing effect on the body.
When you feel stress or anything negative, cortisol is released, which has a deleterious effect on the body because it causes inflammation.
The idea is to minimize cortisol and maximize oxytocin.
Chronic diseases are affected by cortisol.
Every time you feel annoyed or angry, you are releasing cortisol.
Gratitude practices help you develop a oxytocin habit.
Every time you get angry or upset, that adds inflammation to your system, especially if the feelings are ongoing rather than momentary.
You have the ability to change your brain chemical releases by changing your emotional habits.
Everything about your life will get better when you move from the cortisol space to the oxytocin space.
When you consciously develop an attitude of love and peace, I guarantee that your life will get better.
If you haven’t dealt with your childhood wounds it is going to affect your life outcomes.
Because your business and life outcomes are an extension of you, you will do better when you are in a more positive space.
When dealing with other people, if I’m always looking for our similarities rather than our differences, I am actually missing something.
Embracing our differences allows for expansion.
The place to start is for you to learn how to love yourself because when you love yourself, it’s easier for you to love and accept other people.
I suggest that you work on altering your thought patterns and your emotional habits and accepting who and where you are.

Over the years, I have been sharing my process on my podcast, and now that I’m building a new business, I’m going to share that process with you as well. Because I have been working towards developing a high degree of intuition, I want to be able to use this in order to build this new business.
Highlights
Intuition is an inner knowing and how that appears can be different for each person.
Intuition comes from that part of you that is aware of more of you and your life than you understand.
You can develop a communication system with that inner part of you. I give an example of how to do that.
If you want to tune into the expanded parts of yourself, then you have to clear out the channels.
The more you take care of yourself, the more you can be in touch with your Self.
The more you are willing to clear out the channels that run through your body-mind, the more accurate will be the intuitive hits that you get.
At some point, you have to make the decision as to whether you are going to build your business while stressed out or if you’re going to take an easier path.
You have to make the decision to follow what your inner voice suggests.
Sit still and do nothing for 10 minutes a day. I explain.
Every intuitive hit will be what you want to be because you have to learn to discriminate between the different types of “messages”. But each message is there to teach you something. Sometimes it’s for you to learn what you’re not.
This all ties in with what I’ve been calling Conscious Synchronicity which requires that you notice what shows up.
What you are feeling guided to do probably has a connection to something that’s been in your life before.
I talk about how I’m using my intuition to build The MetaMind Circle.

Today I talk about something that has begun to really interest me – the inner world of people in leadership positions of all kinds. When thinking or speaking about leaders, we don’t often examine their emotional expression and development, even though their habitual emotions affect all of their decisions.
Highlights
I talk about how I have developed meaningful relationships with people online.
People are often taught that there is something wrong with them that needs fixing, and I don’t subscribe to that.
Feelings that are common among leaders include feeling alone and feeling like an outsider.
For some leaders, it’s dangerous to let people know what’s really going on inside of you and how you really feel about yourself and your followers.
This creates a feeling of separation, and we have an inherent need for connection.
Becoming a leader is sometimes a coping mechanism for dealing with life.
I think it’s important for leaders to recognize their own deep-seated feelings of aloneness.
Aloneness often leads people to become members of groups that don’t have the interests of society at heart.
In order to be a person of peace, you have to find peace within yourself.
One of the things that interest me is bringing together entrepreneurial leaders who often feel separated so they can learn how to really feel connected on an authentic level.
If you’re going to learn how to develop empathy, you also have to learn how to set boundaries, so you don’t take responsibility for other people’s problems.

She is the Founder of Urban Balance (a national outpatient mental health company), a blogger for Psychology Today, and the author of The Financial Mindset Fix: A Mental Fitness Program for an Abundant Life.
Highlights
Joyce Marter explains how her own emotional money issues led her to her current profession.
We talk about how psychologists often have money problems and how Joyce came to see that beliefs about her earning potential were holding her back.
Do some people come to be psychologists with unreal expectations as to what they can achieve given who they are and how they present themselves?
Joyce does a lot of personal work and believes that her business success is a direct result of that work.
The field of psychology is now examining mindfulness. This is leading them away from the pathology of emotions to a more inner direction of awareness.
Meditation and techniques such as yoga help us connect to our real essence.
We all have to do our own work in order to find our individual solutions.
Joyce recounts how reaching her breaking point financially taught her to ask for help and learn what she had to learn in order to become successful.
We hold on to what’s familiar, even if it’s not working.
Opening yourself to receive is not about receiving money, but about opening up to receiving love.
If we work on ourselves, it doesn’t just affect our money but rather many aspects of our life.

Today, I’m talking about something very dear to my heart. It’s about the chaos that we are living through and it’s going to get much worse. Although many things are adding to the chaos, there are actions we can take in order to experience inner peace in the midst of the chaos.
Highlights
One day, when I was in meditation, I heard the following: We are going into a period of great chaos. Many people will leave the planet, and the chaos in the Middle East will get so bad that people will ask, “How could a benevolent God allow this to happen?” People are being trained to be points of light in the midst of this chaos.
I knew, at that moment, that I was one of the people going through that training.
There are a lot of opportunities now for us to recognize that these are chaotic times. I list some of those opportunities.
Our individual response to everything that is going on is a matter of brain science. Our brains are designed to warn us of danger when the outcomes are uncertain.
Uncertainty causes stress, and stress is a major cause of physical and emotional dis-ease.
When you make changes and move in a positive direction, that energy affects the whole world.
You get to decide how you want to be in the midst of the chaos.
It’s okay if you’re upset about what’s going on, but it helps to find a way to be okay with what is and to decide what actions you want to take.
You get to decide if you’re willing to learn how to develop inner peace no matter what’s going on.
In 1788, when the Constitution was ratified, there were only 238,000 people in the entire country.
People have not been taught that they have the option of choosing how they want to feel.
One of the best things you can do is to connect to people who were not just like you.
Ask yourself, do I want to continue living and feeling the way I do now?
I believe that there is a part of you that sees the bigger picture and will guide you to what you need to live a life that allows you to express yourself.
Playing "ain't it awful" does not lead to a comfortable life.
If you believe that energy matters, then take a look at the energy you are generating.
You have the power to create the life you want, but it doesn't happen by just doing affirmations. Action is the key.

Life got in the way this week, thus the replay. The book I mention in this episode has had a profound effect on me and I wanted to share this with you in case you missed the original posting. It started last Thanksgiving when I had an experience at a Thanksgiving gathering that my brother Marc also attended. He said something that really pushed my buttons, and in this episode, I discuss what happened and what I had to go through to resolve the conflict.
Highlights
I talk about what happened at the Thanksgiving gathering and how I reached out to Kimberly Rauch and the group I had been attending. Kimberly suggested that I read the book The Anatomy of Peace.
The book had a deep impact on me. I began to see how I had been expressing a heart of war with my brothers because of the favoritism shown to boys over girls.
The difference between a heart of peace and a heart of war is explained.
A quote from the book: “When our hearts are at war, we can’t see clearly. We give ourselves the best opportunity to make clear-minded decisions only to the extent that our hearts are at peace.”
I also talk about self-directed passive-aggressive behavior and how that has affected me over the years.
If we can’t express hidden anger, then we will act it out in various ways – subconsciously.
People who have been abused or neglected in childhood often have a heart of war towards authorities.
If we take responsibility for what we’re creating and we accept what comes along as what we need, if something uncomfortable comes along, we can observe our responses and make changes when necessary.
I am the only one who can control my response to external stimuli.
After I understood my response to my brother’s comment, I felt an enormous sense of relief and my energy levels have increased considerably.
Treat yourself like someone you love.
If something isn’t going the way you wanted it to, get in touch with your inner experience and see you if you can figure out why you’re creating what you’re creating. Remember, there’s nothing wrong with you that needs fixing and you aren’t doing anything wrong.
Do you have a heart at peace or heart at war?

Anne deLain Clark started as a transformative mediator the week of 9/11. Since then, she's been transforming human relationships in businesses, government, and families. She specializes in high-stress environments and highly charged circumstances, helping people successfully breach gaps in understanding and perspective so they can find mutually satisfying outcomes. Her greatest satisfaction is to witness the shifts in people as they discover common needs and shared solutions.
Highlights
Anne deLain Clark explains how her family-of-origin and beginning work experience led her to become a mediator.
She learned that it’s not necessarily what you say but how you present it.
Anne talks about common communication stressors in the workplace and why developing empathy and compassion are important.
We examine why so many people have problems asking questions when they are in a conversation.
Every culture has a different “pause time”. This time in New York is a lot less than pause time in New Mexico.
To have authentic conversations, it’s important to listen to what the other person is saying and to assess their pause time.
People regulate each other’s neural systems by talking to each other.
The great thinkers spent a lot of time in the thinking part of their brain rather than the primitive part.

Reading an article in Neuroscience News about a study that concluded that diabetes increases the possibility of getting Alzheimer’s triggered something for me. In this episode, I talk about the easy things you can do to feel and live more comfortably.
Highlights
I have observed that many people with diabetes don’t take it seriously. It is serious and can lead to many uncomfortable problems.
You need to make the decision as to whether or not you’re going to take care of yourself so your business and life can flourish.
I share figures about the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes.
Many physical problems can be traced to what you’re eating.
It’s important to be aware of the dangers of having diabetes which can lead to blindness and amputations.
If you are between 30 or 50, you don’t have to suffer from multiple diseases if you take care of your body and give it what it needs to function.
You have to get in touch with your body to find out what it needs. I give some suggestions.
Daily meditation puts you more in touch with your body systems.
We are not wired to deal with the amount of uncertainty that’s going on in the world today, which is why it’s so important to learn how to take care of yourself and reduce the stress.

Reiner Lomb is the founder of BoomerangCoach, an executive coaching firm specializing in leadership and career development, innovation, and transformational change. Reiner’s mission is to mobilize and develop leaders to create a more sustainable and positive future for all. Before becoming an executive coach, Reiner had a 30-plus year career in technology, started and developed software businesses, and led leadership development. Reiner’s new book is ASPIRE: Seven Essential Emotions for Leading Positive Change, No Matter Where You Are.
Highlights
Reiner explains how his upbringing on a farm in Germany led him eventually to do the work with emotions he’s doing now.
Leaders are often well developed intellectually but not emotionally. He explains how, when he first introduced the concept 15 years ago, he had to approach the topic of emotions very carefully.
Reiner tells how he developed trust with teams so they would accept the idea of working on emotions.
Family is the first team we get to work with.
Reiner recounts that he went back to school to learn more about psychology and brain science.
When you become aware of where your emotions began, you can decide to change your emotional expression.
People often believe that emotions happen automatically and that they can’t change, which is not true.
We talk about various aspects of empathy and how important it is in order to understand where people are coming from.
Assume good intentions. Most people have good intentions, but they may come from a different value framework then you.
Once Reiner assesses a person’s emotional state through observation, he can decide which direction to go in with them.
Reiner talks about the seven emotions he mentions in his book.
A foundation of leadership is developing interest in the people you’re leading and to help them develop a better vision of the future.
Inspiration is one of the most powerful leadership tools.

In today’s episode I talk about something that affects your business and financial outcomes that goes beyond hard-core skills and mindset. It is important to learn how to tune into the energies around you and understand the quality of the energy you generate.
Highlights
How we develop early in life often affects the eventual decisions we make and our outcomes.
There is no one thing that is going to change your financial position or your life.
I define what I mean by personal energy and give some examples.
When you talk to people, is there an underlying sadness that even you aren’t aware of all the time?
I talk about the concept of how you are being in the world.
The foods that you are eating can affect your personal energy.
If your thoughts are very negative, that will tamp down your personal energy.
Energy around the world now is difficult and chaotic, which makes it even more important to understand your personal energy.
For today, I’m hoping you will increase your awareness of the energy you generate and the energy around you, all of which will affect your life outcomes.
Have the power to change things.

It’s not helpful to believe that there is something wrong with you that needs fixing. In this episode I talk about how to find solutions to what you perceive as problems and stop thinking that there’s something wrong with you. This will change your life outcomes.
Highlights
While giving a recent presentation to potential real estate investors, one of the participants said that he thought the reason for his problem moving forward is that he has imposter syndrome. This led to a discussion about how there is nothing wrong with you that needs fixing.
Changing your habitual thoughts, which includes negative self-talk, will lead to better outcomes. I give suggestions on how to do this.
You have agency over your space in the world and you can decide who and how you want to be with other people.
The more satisfied you are with yourself, the more you’re going to be able to grow and move forward.
Our psychological and medical systems are built around the idea that there’s something wrong with you the needs fixing. You can make decisions to change or perceive whatever is bothering you.
If you get a diagnosis for something that seems to be wrong with you, you can find information online for alternative treatments and what you can do for yourself.
It helps if you learn how your body works so you can figure out what’s going on if you’re uncomfortable.
Once you believe that there is nothing wrong with you that needs fixing, you can find solutions to whatever problems or discomforts you may be having.
Can you change everything about you? Not necessarily, but you can decide that whoever you are is fine and there’s nothing wrong with you.
Once you make the decision and set the intention to change something you want to change, the information and resources you need will show up – if you are ready.

Sandy Stamato, Founder of Limb Dweller Transitional Coaching for women 50 and beyond, is passionate about her work. As a Limb Dweller, she’s found out that she is not alone. As a result, she has coached fellow Limb Dwellers from all over the world.
Whether or not these fellow limb dwellers are dealing with shame, anxiety, or identity issues regarding their next steps or are women who have been doing work that isn’t aligned with who they are today, it’s a vulnerable and tender time as they look into the near future. Sandy says, “At a certain point, there are no do-overs. This is precious time, so why waste it?”
Highlights
Sandy shares how she, at 28, found out she is a Limb Dweller and what that means.
People have so many social pressures on them now that it’s hard to have a sense of belonging fitting in.
It’s important to realize it’s okay to be who you are and that when you’re young, you have no idea who you’re going to become.
It’s important to support people at the age where they are and not expect them to know exactly where they’re going, and to let them explore possibilities.
Understanding that who you are and where you are gives you breathing space to become who you want to be.
Sandy talks about how she helps people see that wherever they are is fine by using the concept of an internal Board of Directors.
Fear, shame, and anxiety often are the loudest of our internal voices.
We talk about the value of tough times and how to make them work for you.

In this episode, I discuss Financial Vagueness Syndrome (FVS). What it is, the symptoms, and what you can do to avoid this problem that will keep you from making good financial decisions. It takes awareness of both your inner world and financial skills.
Highlights
As a business owner, you have to do more than just check your bank balance online daily if you want to make good financial decisions.
Financial Vagueness Syndrome is characterized by not keeping financial records, never reconciling your accounts, avoiding looking at your numbers, leaving bills unopened or unpaid, frequently bouncing checks, spending beyond your credit limits, or frequently dealing with fear about your finances.
I use Quicken for my personal accounts and QuickBooks for my business accounts, both of which provide useful reports so you can track your income and spending.
When you recognize your discomforts around your finances, then you can make decisions about changing what's causing those discomforts.
You can't make wise financial decisions if you're not in touch with your money.
If you have Financial Vagueness Syndrome, then it will be hard to make rational financial decisions including investment decisions. It's also possible that you keep too much money in your checking account.
You may have to develop new spending habits.
The more you know about your money, the less afraid you will be.
There is a cadence to working with money that comes with experience.
Be aware of how much interest you're paying on all of your accounts and beware of low- or no-interest balance-transfer offers.
Until you know how to manage your money, you don't want to hire someone to do it for you because you have to know what's going on first so you can catch problems. It's your business, not theirs.
My goal is to help you avoid financial fear, and the best way to do that is to get over Financial Vagueness Syndrome.
If you have financial fear, you are not going to make good financial decisions.
For people who have a lot of money coming in, they can go through it rapidly if they don't keep track of their numbers.

He also founded the Neuroscience Coaching Centre. Joseph is the author of nineteen books in thirty languages on coaching, training, and neuroscience that have sold half a million copies worldwide. He follows his two great interests, giving coaching training and courses on creative nonfiction writing.
Highlights
Joseph’s background as a musician provided the impetus for him to figure out what he has been teaching about both performance and teaching.
There is a gap between what you do and what you can do and Joseph helps people understand how to bridge that gap.
His original interest was in helping people use psychological techniques such as NLP to do a better job of playing the guitar. (In the 1980s.)
Joseph’s latest book is Coaching the Brain, which helps coaches understand the brain science they need to use when working with clients.
If coaches don’t understand brain science, then their ability to lead clients is limited. It also helps coaching clients to know more about how their brain works.
Emotions are a combination of body sensations and meaning. Joseph explains talks about emotional intelligence.
Every thought contains an emotion, and every emotion has a thought, i.e. meaning. Our decisions are based on the emotions that are going on.
In the end, our decisions are based on our emotions which are designed to keep us alive and moving forward. The idea is to use the energy of emotions constructively.
We spent time talking about money and emotions.
Thomas Leonard, who started the whole coaching profession, was originally a financial advisor.
When we get afraid because the amygdala is activated, the rest of the brain shuts down and stops thinking.
Our brains are very good at making up negative stories about the future. Taking action can ground us in the present.
To reduce anxiety, first acknowledge and accept where you are emotionally. Trying to make the anxiety go away, you’re actually makes it worse. Then ask, what can I do? When we do that, other parts of the brain are engaged and we can find solutions.

In my course Rewire Your Brain for Prosperity & Financial Freedom, I introduced the 4Rs process for creating new emotional responses to familiar stimuli. In this episode, I focus on the process, especially the Release step.
Highlights
I define the 4Rs - Recognize, Release, Replace, Repeat. The Recognize step can take a while to complete for each instance.
Feelings don’t happen in your head. They have been when neuropeptides, which start in your brain, travel to receptor sites in the cells of your organs.
Saying the feeling that you’re experiencing out loud helps to release the neuropeptides from the receptors. You’re actually expressing the feeling.
I talk about different ways of using sound to release both feelings and the thoughts that can be looping around in your head.
Bringing hidden emotions into the light has a very strong effect.
Call to get to the hidden emotions that started early in childhood.

Bob Doyle is one of the featured experts in the film and book, "The Secret" and now focuses his teaching, speaking, and coaching on Neuroplasticity - our ability to change our brain - to facilitate lasting personal and professional transformation.
Highlights
After 20 years of talking about the Law of Attraction, Bob shifted his focus to the brain and neuroplasticity and how the brain can be rewired.
People were so focused on the Law of Attraction that they didn’t focus on who they want to be and how to get there.
Transformation is about learning new ways of being. We have to be someone else if we want transformation.
Becoming who you want to become is going to take longer than you wanted to. Many actions are required for you to move towards your goal.
There is going to be a lot of resistance along the way.
Bob talks about the power of visualization as a tool for transformation.
Feeling drives at all.
Our brain tells us it is dangerous to change. We’re going against years of programming that brought us to where we are.
The first step is to become aware of when you’re functioning on autopilot.
Just as the physical universe is always expanding and we are part of that universe, we are always expanding, if we allow it.
We keep telling ourselves the same stories that eventually become true for us on many different levels.
When you change your story about the future, it often moves you towards subtle actions.
We talk about the effect of ancestral wiring which can change with intentional actions.
More people are talking about the brain rather than the Law of Attraction.
Young people today are much more conscious than they were as Bob and I grew up.
Bob has a free quiz that helps you understand your autopilot and how you can be more in alignment with who you want to be.

In January 2020, I started talking about conscious synchronicity on this podcast. I think a lot about this topic and in today’s episode, I share some of the things I’ve learned about the depths of what it is and what it takes to allow conscious synchronicity into your life.
Highlights
Synchronicity is when unrelated incidents seem to be more than just coincidence. I give examples.
Over the years, I have asked the question, “What if everything that happens is synchronicity.”
If you’re willing to believe that everything you need shows up and you need everything that shows up, when something uncomfortable happens, you can ask, “Why do I need this?” The answer always is related to the feelings that helped create the situation.
Emotions are the creative force behind our life stories.
The situation doesn’t cause the emotion. The emotion is the force behind the situation. I give examples.
I talk about the process of asking yourself what you’re feeling, when you have felt it before, what you would rather be feeling, and you know how to feel that.
You have to decide what their feeling goals are.
There is nothing wrong with you that needs fixing. You just have habits that developed early in childhood and these habits can change.
It takes time to develop new habits and new neural pathways in your brain.
Whatever happens in your life is a reflection of what is going on inside of you.
Anger can be a habitual response to familiar stimuli, and you have to decide if you want to change your responses.
Empathetic detachment is when I can really empathize with what others feel, but I don’t have to take responsibility for it and fix it.
The more you can let go of those deeply ingrained habits, the more will show up for you that’s comfortable.
To build my coaching business, I didn’t want to have to do a lot of outbound marketing. I wanted to be able to get myself in the right place and have what I need show up.
I talk about my current state of comfort and joy since I let go of old family-related feelings.
For conscious synchronicity to work, it’s necessary to examine the whole process of letting go.
Are you ready to let go of trying to control everything? Conscious synchronicity requires that you let life happen through you, not to you.
Who you are right now is perfect.
When you can ask yourself, “Why do I need this?” instead of, “Why is this happening to me?” your life results will be different.
There is no one thing that is going to make your life more comfortable. A holistic approach is necessary.
It's a matter of looking at what is and deciding if there's something that you would rather it be.

I have often talked about the connection between emotions and money. In in this episode, I discuss the connection between emotions and health. Many physical discomforts and diseases often have an emotional base. By releasing your habitual uncomfortable emotions, you can improve your health.
Highlights
The feelings that you are holding in and not expressing can really affect your health. I talk about how my father died of anger.
Recently, I got in touch with long-suppressed anger that I had been unaware of. Once I was able to process and release the anger, I had more energy and my health differently improved.
There’s no doubt in my mind that there is a connection between physical pain and emotional pain.
When you’re experiencing uncomfortable emotions, you are in a contracted state.
Instead of having to take a lot of medicine to relieve discomforts, it helps to understand the emotions behind those discomforts.
Becoming happy and healthy requires releasing all the old uncomfortable emotions you are holding in.
Cortisol is designed to help us deal with stressors – occasionally. Frequent cortisol responses cause problems in our physical bodies.
Anyone who has experienced any kind of abuse or neglect, is probably holding in and not expressing uncomfortable emotions.
When you are frequently happy, that helps your physical body because of the chemicals, such as endorphins and happy brain chemicals, that are released.
If you don’t know how to relax, that’s hurting your physical body.
It is difficult to have true financial freedom if you don’t get rid of those uncomfortable emotions you’ve been holding on to since childhood.
Love is the healer.
You can’t just cover-up the uncomfortable emotions, they have to be released, which is not always an easy process.
Emotions are the creative force behind their life stories.
To be more comfortable, decide how you want to be in the world.
You don’t have to be uncomfortable forever. You can decide how you want to be and learn how to get there.

Psilocybin is being seriously studied as a treatment for depression and other mental problems.
Dana explains what happens in the brain when someone takes psilocybin and what can happen during a “dark” or “bad” trip.
Some people resist the deep experience that psychedelics bring which keeps them from having a full release of old traumas.
Psilocybin journeys are not for everyone. If you have fear about it, don’t do it.
Canada, where Dana lives, is moving towards legalizing the use of plant medicine, which includes psilocybin.
The energy of the guide, as well as the energy of the person who provides the psilocybin, can affect the nature of a person’s journey.
If you were considering a psilocybin journey, be discriminating and use your intuition when searching for a guide. Be very aware if something doesn’t feel comfortable.
Dana explains the difference between dosing and micro-dosing and she describes what a session is like.

Highlights
First, I talk about raising your awareness of your thoughts. I offer suggestions for doing this.
It’s important to become aware of how and when you become contracted because contraction keeps you from expanding.
Teaching yourself how to feel expanded will allow you to expand your presence in the world.
When you draw your energy into yourself, it gives you impetus for expanding into the world.
When you get your consciousness in the right place, everything you need will show up – and learning to expand your consciousness is a key.
How you think about yourself and how you feel about yourself may be keeping you small.
You can be as big as you want to be.
Spend a few minutes each day going inside and seeing how you feel about who you are and imagining yourself expanding. As you expand within yourself, it allows you to expand in the world.
To feel big and expanded, you need to become aware of what you were thinking and believing when you're feeling small and contracted.
Your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings are all habits, and you have the option of changing those habits.

After a successful career as an I.T. consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Aprille Janes removed her “corporate suit” to follow a more creative path. Today she lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, painting and teaching in her studio overlooking the Bay of Fundy.
Highlights
Aprille shares the Canadian view of what’s happening now in the United States.
When Aprille left corporate, she and her husband were willing to take a chance and let their future unfold. She shares how they dealt with the uncertainty and talks about the synchronistic things that happened.
The process Aprille went through learning to trust her inner direction.
Skill and intuition have to be combined to develop inspired creation.
Aprille’s path has been one of exploration without having a definite end in mind.
We all have pain, we just choose whether we suffer.
Living a quiet, peaceful life, couldn’t have happened for Aprille when she was younger.
We need the contrast between light and dark.
Does it take time – and years of experience – to reach a point of acceptance?
The Covid pause is allowing us to reevaluate what’s important to us.
This is a time of choice – which side do you want to be on?
The chaos of the “insurrection” was a definite wake-up call for a lot of people.
Most of the people outside of the United States who are watching what’s going on are praying that democracy stands.
People are ready to be heard.
Fear of the unknown will paralyze us; trust lets us keep going.
We talk about the value of gratitude. What can you be thankful for today?
A lot of the conflict we’re seeing now is caused, in part, by feelings of powerlessness. Seeing that we have choices as to how we respond gives us back our power.

In the last episode, I talked a lot about oppression as an underlying emotion with chronic debting. As a result, I then started thinking a lot about the whole idea of oppression and how it affects so many areas of our lives and our culture. In this short episode, I share some of what I was thinking about.
Highlights
Recognizing feelings of oppression that may be buried deep inside of you opens you to many new opportunities and possibilities.
The process of internal change can have physical effects and can be, in some cases, uncomfortable.
Many people want their lives to change but they don’t want to change. If you want your life to change, you have to go through some energetic shifts.
There are many things, on a day-to-day basis, that can lead to feelings of oppression.
You can’t experience real freedom when you feel oppressed.
Get in touch with when you feel oppressed doing your day-to-day activities.
You can ask yourself, “What do I need to do to feel less oppressed?”
When you get in touch with feeling oppressed and learn how to let it go, you’ll be able to give so much more to the world.

I had an experience at a Thanksgiving gathering that greatly impacted me internally. My brother, Marc was also at the event, and he said something that really pushed my buttons. In this episode, I discuss what happened and what I had to go through to resolve the conflict I was experiencing.
Highlights
I talk about what happened at the Thanksgiving gathering and how I reached out to Kimberly Rauch and the group I had been attending. Kimberly suggested that I read the book The Anatomy of War.
The book had a deep impact on me. I began to see how I had been expressing a heart of war with my brothers because of the favoritism shown to boys over girls.
The difference between a heart of peace and a heart of war is explained.
A quote from the book: "When our hearts are at war, we can’t see clearly.
Do you have a heart of peace or heart of war?

In this episode, I talk about why it’s so important to understand how what you are eating is affecting your business performance and the decisions that you make. I also talk about the physical symptoms that are caused by eating the wrong foods.
Highlights
Sleep is very important if we want to perform at our best and make good decisions.
One of the things that isn’t often mentioned when discussing sleep is the effect of the food you eat on your ability to sleep well.
I talk about how I got started on the path to health.
Low blood sugar is a precursor to diabetes.
I talk about some of the symptoms caused by hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
Find out if what you’re eating is causing your symptoms, by clicking here.
Your food is the fuel that’s powering your body and brain. Low-quality fuel causes symptoms.
Many years ago, I had a lot of mental/emotional problems that stopped after I gave up sugar and changed my eating habits.
If you want to be healthy, it’s within your power to make that happen.
It’s important to exercise if you want to stay young.
You have to make the decision as to whether or not you want to be healthy.
Stress affects your biochemistry.
If you want to be a high-performance person, then pay attention to what you’re eating – or not eating.
Your doctor is not going to fix you.
When you are healthy, your life will work better and you’ll make better decisions.

Sharon A. Kuhn is an Emotional Intelligence Trainer who coaches executives and leaders in optimizing their own and their teams’ unique potential. She is the author of Empathy: A Guide to Maximizing Human Potential where she introduces the idea of Unique EQ. Sharon is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and is certified in the Working Genius Assessment, an affiliate of Table Group Consulting.
Highlights:
Sharon shares the brain science that gives us our sense of self-esteem and what she means by Unique EQ.
When we can share with people states of mind or reflect their state of mind, that releases oxytocin and causes them to feel more confident.
We are all trying to gather the strength that we have within to interpret other people and to be seen and interpreted by them.
When Sharon works with teens in corporate, people are often reticent about looking at the internal issues.
Emotion is a physical response to an internal or external stimulus.
What the body wants most is the feeling of connection. Relationship is our drug of choice.
Love is the most powerful thing that we can use to help people move forward.
Your empathy releases brain chemicals of belonging in the other person.
When someone else is feeling our feelings, they are, in effect managing our stress.
As a leader, I can feel people’s emotions, but I don’t get sucked into their feelings. I’m able to stay true to myself.
There are logical ways of coordinating with others so we are emotionally synchronistic.
The more we understand ourselves, the less fearful we are.
Sharon talks about reflective listening and mirroring.
We must experience the chemicals of connection in order to thrive and survive.
The feedback that we get from one another is shaping our brains daily.
The brain often becomes disorganized as a result of confusing experiences.
The more we identify with each other, the more we draw out our true self.

Recently, I was part of a 3-person panel at the Women’s Leadership Council of the C-Suite Network where we discussed our spiritual background and how we bring our spirituality into our business. This episode is my portion of the panel discussion.
Highlights
In 1975, I moved to Venice Beach and met a woman who moved in with me and started channeling “The Mother”. I talk about the experience and the advice I received.
During that time, I spent many hours in meditation waiting for “instructions”.
I explain why, in 1976, I gave everything I owned away and went on a years-long journey.
For many years, I had been fascinated by what lies beyond three-dimensional reality.
When I listened to what I was getting in meditation, amazing and interesting things happened in my life. And that still happens.
When I was building my crystal business, in the 1980s, that’s when I was closest to being who I really am – and I was rewarded for it.
The question, “Who am I and why am I here?”, is a common one, especially for women as we explore who we are as women.
There is a certain advantage of getting older because you have more wisdom that helps you let go and let life show you who you are and why you’re here.

Who Are You…When You Are Big? By Kimberly Roush & Allan Milham
In this episode, I talk about three TV shows that aired last Sunday and how I see that they are indicative of what a lot of us are going through now. There’s no doubt about the fact that it’s a time of chaos and we have the option of finding our own peace of mind.
Highlights
I mentioned the three TV shows: the concert with Adele and it’s included interview by Oprah, the final episode of the CNN series about Princess Diana, and the gridlock in the Los Angeles and Long Beach harbors.
I also talk about how each of these is connected to what we are going through now.
Despite all the difficulties that people are experiencing, they still desire to experience peace of mind.
This is an important time for some inner examination to find out what means something to us and what we can do to achieve peace of mind.
So many of our systems are not working for most people. Although we tend to be optimistic, there are so many barriers to raising one’s habitual income level.
We need to examine what really matters to us and why it appears to be so important to make more money.
A lot of people at the lower economic levels are complaining about the Build Back Better bill, even though it has the potential to help a lot of people who are suffering.
When everything seems chaotic, keeping good financial records will help assuage fear that’s bound to occur during times of uncertainty.
I talk about the value of connecting to and working with others to solve problems that can help many.
A key is for you to learn how to make decisions that work for you and to get advice so that you’re not trying to figure everything out yourself.
You don’t have to have a lot of money to have contentment.
The people I know who are most satisfied don’t focus on money, they focus on enjoying what they’re doing.
Making your life work requires that you learn to trust other people and yourself.
If you are always worried, you can’t make good decisions. It helps to understand how your brain works and why it’s programmed to help you by warning you to be afraid when there is uncertainty.
I’m getting ready to do a group in late January/early February to help people use their inner resources to build or expand a business.
One of the most important things you can do to overcome financial fear is to take action. One of those actions needs to be keeping good financial records.

In this episode, I talk about effective ways of "acting as if". Years ago, people thought that to become wealthy it helped to act as if you are already wealthy, and they began spending lots of money as if they had it. That didn't work. So, what does work?
Highlights
Wealthy people often make well-thought-out financial decisions. To do this, you have to be in touch with your numbers. This requires a clear decision to keep good financial records.
Money goes to people who love and take care of it, and the thing that money likes best is to be counted.
To do well in business, pay attention to your outer world as well as your inner world.
It is important to learn how to manage cash flow.
The more information you have, the better the financial decisions you make.
The most successful people I know don’t worry about money. Worrying about money doesn’t help you make more.
What would you be thinking and feeling if you had a large amount of money?
Acting as if means looking for the things you’re grateful for and focusing on positive thoughts.
I talk about training your brain to have new responses to familiar stimuli. Money triggers are familiar stimuli.
Money is just energy.
To change your relationship with money, take small steps and change one thing at a time. By taking small steps in a new direction, you are acting as if you are becoming wealthy.
Spend time learning about the world of money and how it works.
What do you need to know about the world of money so you can make rational financial decisions?
Are you willing to act as if you are already changing your relationship with money?
I make some suggestions about the small changes you can start to make.

ln this episode, I talk about the epidemic of aloneness that is in our country now and how we need to learn to connect to each other to make our lives work better. I also outline how this podcast might be changing and some of the activities that are coming up on Prosperity Place.
Highlights
I talk about a dive I did recently into aloneness. Once you process and emotion it, it no longer runs your life the same way.
It’s now time for me to combine what I’ve learned about the inner world with business skills.
In this time of chaos, it’s more important to get in touch with your inner self so you can be led to what you’re supposed to be doing.
To make more money, it’s important to understand the world of money.
If you’re feeling stuck, then you probably are. If you don’t keep moving forward by changing, you’re going to stay stuck where you are.
Self-care activities are just as important as business activities.
Love yourself, let go, and connect – and wait to see what shows up.
Most people don’t know how to wait.
I talk about the dysfunctional systems in the United States.
How can we work together to make our futures better?
If you want to make significant change in your life, it’s best not to try to do it alone.
Are you willing to look at your life and understand that you have the power to change it, if it isn’t working for you now?

Eric Rogell is the host of the popular “Warriors, Lovers, Kings, and Heroes” podcast, sought after corporate speaker, bestselling author, and serial entrepreneur. He shows high achieving executives and entrepreneurs how to break through barriers, forge mental toughness, and inspire and engage their teams, making them more capable, more confident, and more connected.
Highlights
Eric explains how learning how to honor people allowed him to become more complete and better as a podcast host.
We are all the same and are all on the same journey, just different flavors.
When we share our stories with each other, it connects us.
Technology, especially Zoom, allows us to connect in a whole new way to so many more people and become inter-generational.
When you are more deliberate about the connections you make, you get more out of it.
Platforms like Facebook allow our connections to go wide. Being more deliberate with our connections allows us to go deep, which allows us to feel more connected.
Eric gives us a picture into his background and his upbringing which led him to do the kind of work he does today and why he is so interested in emotional intelligence.
In his work, Eric talks about four archetypes: Warrior, Lover, King, Hero.
The Lover side is the emotional side, which is harder for men than the Warrior side, which is easy for them.
With women, the King becomes the Queen and women often like moving into that energy.
Aggression is the downside of the Warrior. He talks about how Mother Teresa was a fierce Warrior without being aggressive – quite the contrary.
We all have the masculine and feminine within us and each is a unique combination of those two energies.
Your brain is your biggest enemy when you want to change. Your heart may want to change, but your brain will lead you to resist the change.

Kimberly shares her experience working with a coach and how that led to her starting her own coaching practice and writing her book.
Every day we have a choice whether to stay small or to step into the part of us that knows how to be big.
Kimberly shares what happens when people are asked, "Who are you when you're big?"
In her younger years, Kimberly was somewhat codependent. She talks about how that presented itself and how she worked through it.
When people are in transition, they often have trouble defining who they are. Kimberly helps them find the answer.
We talk about how Kimberly helps people get in touch with the emotional part of themselves.
With the information about emotional intelligence that's out there now, corporate is making progress but still has a long way to go.
Don't go after money for the wrong reasons.
You have to define success for you.
Although Kimberly loved working for corporate, she knew she had to leave and start her own project.
After being in business for herself for 14 years, Kimberly feels that she's still learning how to do it.

Just like everything else, your self-concept is a habit that affects all of your decisions. Protecting your identity often keeps you from moving forward. In this episode, I talk about The Identity Factor and how you can move past the restraints put on you as you try to keep yourself safe.
Highlights
Definition of The Identity Factor: A mechanism that kicks in – subconsciously – whenever you try to make a significant internal change that will affect your self-concept and your position in the world. There's a fear that if you make these changes, it will lead to your being alone and alienated.
I talk about the behavioral effects of The Identity Factor.
Common among successful people is that they never feel satisfied. So learning to be satisfied is a threat to who they perceive themselves to be – even though they understand that learning to be satisfied could make them more comfortable.
We are programmed to always want more, which keeps us unsatisfied.
If you have a habit of feeling alone, learning to feel connected can be a threat to your identity.
It is perfectly natural to resist major changes to how you have been. It's easier for younger people than for older people.
Are you willing to look at who you have been so you can decide who you want to be?
It takes courage to let people know who you really are.
For your life to change, you have to change.
The more adept you are at change, the better your life will be – even though those periods of change can be uncomfortable.
To become naturally prosperous – where you really feel rich – you need to look at many internal aspects of yourself and be willing to make changes.
Each person has a unique combination of things they have to work on to become more comfortable.
To be a full human being, we have to learn how to live in society and we get to choose how we want to do that and who we want to connect to.
Your external world is just a reflection of what's going on inside of you.

Highlights
Erin loved her corporate job but felt that something was missing and that she didn't have enough control over her business world. That's why she left corporate.
After corporate, Erin had a franchise and she tells why it was a burnout experience.
It never occurred to Erin that she couldn't do what she wanted to do.
Because she had a lot of health problems as a baby, Erin developed a survival mentality. She shares the details.
Everything you are and what you do is a choice.
Your brain's only job is to keep you alive, and it perceives everything as a threat.
People, including family, can support you but that doesn't mean they understand you. Surround yourself with such inspirational people that it doesn't matter what your family thinks.
Even though she has trouble relating to the experience of her feelings, Erin has made the choice to learn how to do it.
When people want to build a business, they often get good at doing the tasks but don't learn the skills of building a business.
A coach's job is to help their clients work through their fears.
The question, "What's the worst that can happen?" can help work through fears of doing new things.
Most often, the thing that people are afraid will happen can't happen.
One of the biggest problems for entrepreneurs is that they avoid talking to people.

In this episode, I talk about the relationship between the feeling of aloneness and money. If you can understand this relationship, when you're having money problems or discomforts, you can get to the root of where those discomforts are coming from.
Highlights
I describe a Akashic record reading a friend did that helped me tap into an early childhood memory that affected me more deeply than I realized. The incident, and one that followed, left me feeling alone and disconnected.
When we are young, we can also feel alone in our families. I explain why.
Getting to understand the emotions behind your decisions can help you change the course of the outcomes of your life.
Because in our culture we deal with money daily, we can use it as a method for getting in touch with our habitual emotions.
Whatever you're saying to yourself about money is a pathway into your emotional self.
I discuss the five main feelings that people act out through their money that I discussed in my book Build Your Money Muscles.
The ultimate thing that you might want to accomplish is to know yourself and your own unique combination of emotions.
I talk about the limitations of EFT and BSFF.
There are so many ways that the feeling of aloneness can find its way into your system.
Once you recognize your habitual feelings, you can deal with them and move on, although the memory may never go away
I talk about how to get in touch with your feelings of aloneness and what to do about it.
Just making money or being in a big family doesn't necessarily help people feel less alone.
One of the solutions to feeling alone is to get to know yourself by understanding your unique combination of emotions.
If you think you need more money, you probably need more people because money always comes from people.

She’s the founder of the Fortitude & Flow® Process which uses mindful and embodied practices to create transformation. Her work goes beyond mindset and addresses perfectionism's impossible standards at their root cause.
Highlights
Audrey shares her own experience with perfectionism and how that led to the work she does.
She kept trying to do things right so she could be accepted socially, but never felt as if she got it. It's an interesting story.
Perfectionists often wait till the last minute to finish something that has a due date.
Once she got on the entrepreneurial path, she saw that entrepreneurship and perfectionism don't go well together.
Audrey's mother was a perfectionist. Once she understood the concept of inherited emotions and behaviors, it helped Audrey move forward.
Getting in touch with the body sensations that went along with her perfectionism enhanced Audrey's self-awareness.
The style of yoga that Audrey studied was more about pushing through discomfort rather than embracing it.
When you notice something, don't try to intellectualize or change it. Take a deep breath and just notice it and stay with it.
Perfectionism is a coping or survival mechanism.
Perfectionists often isolate because they don't want anyone to know that they're not sure how to handle something. So they don't ask for help.
As you go through the process of letting go of some of your perfectionism, it will improve your relationships with other people in the world around you.
We talk about how being bullied at school contributed to her perfectionism and her willingness to move beyond it.
It takes courage to change your thought patterns and behaviors.
It helps to work with someone else when you're trying to go through this process so that it doesn't feel overwhelming and you know that someone has your back.
It takes a long time to reverse the perfectionism habit.
Audrey has developed five archetypes of perfectionism and they are available on her site.

Before I get to the techniques, I'd like to remind you that on September 9, I'm having a, an event, I don't want to call it a webinar, it's a little more than that. It's called the money energy tune up. In it, I'm going to use a energy technique that I've learned over the years, to get you in a comfortable space, and to be able to deal with your money from a much more rational place rather than fear. So I hope you'll think about attending this, it's on September 9, there will be a replay. And if you go to https://ProsperityPlace.com/tuneup, you'll see what it's all about. I will have a link to the show notes on www.prosperityplace.com.
01:44
So, let's talk about being kind to yourself, what are some of the things that you can do to remove some of your tension and, and just feel better about yourself and your life? I made a list today of the things that came to my mind, and I wonder what you can think of for yourself. One of the things that comes to mind first is to spend time in nature. There are studies that show that people who see grass, green grass, on a regular basis, are actually in a better shape emotionally than people who don't. I go out for a walk every day and make sure I see green, and birds. And actually we walk in a park by my house. So I see the other dogs, we being my dog and me and I actually walk with someone, which is a very good idea.
02:54
Studies show that when you exercise with someone else, and that means walking, if or anything else that you do with someone that you get more value from the exercise. So spending time in nature, walking in nature, walking with someone else really helps. I know at the end of the day, I meet this person from my neighborhood at five o'clock. And we walk together for part of the way because he lives in a different neighborhood. So we walk part of the way and I walk a total of a mile and a half to two miles a day. And I focus on what I'm doing and how I'm breathing, and and just what's going on.

Joan's Money Energy Tuneup
Because there are so many changes happening around the world, everything is feeling somewhat chaotic. Businesses and individuals have to flow with the changes to maintain or improve. In this episode, I make some suggestions for dealing with the changes and the chaos.
Highlights
People who are good at change at adaptation will do best in today’s environment.
In certain areas, like real estate, people are doing very well. In other areas not so much.
It appears that individuals are not as willing to invest in things like coaching and consulting because of the brain warning against uncertain outcomes.
Be aware that things are changing and that business may be less robust because of this and not because you're doing something wrong.
It may be advantageous to you to start looking at different ways to do things that you've been doing before.
People are craving connection and you may have to reach out to people, some of whom you've lost contact with, to get beyond the feeling of being disconnected.
Feeling connected is a key to doing well in business.
When you can get beyond fear and worry that’s when you can experience conscious synchronicity and what you need will show up.
So many things keep changing and you need to adapt your business to the changes to make sure you’re providing people with what they want and need.
If you’re stuck in worry, it’s difficult to allow creativity to happen.
Whenever you worry, that’s just the story you’re making up.
Meditation can get you in touch with a quiet place inside of you where you can begin to understand what to do next.
We are not meant to do things alone. We need other people.
Reach out to others and ask what their experience has been during these times.
The chaos is creating nervousness for a lot of people.

In today’s episode, I explore the idea of feeling limited, which I see as a corollary to feeling oppressed. I relate this to feeling financially limited. There are other emotions that can be part of feeling limited such as powerless.
Highlights
I recognize that when I don’t have the funds I think I need, I feel limited. People often feel limited financially.
The glass ceiling is a feeling of limitation.
Limitations can be external or internal. I explain.
What are your physical limitations?
When you face physical limitations, you have to decide if you want to push through or not.
The internal limitations can be on the feeling level, such as feeling tight or constrained, which might be expressed as “money is tight”.
What do you perceive is your limitations, and is there some action you can take to work through those limitations and feel more expanded?
Ask, “what would I rather be feeling other than limited?”
If you recognize that you need more people, ask the question, “How can I connect to more people in a meaningful way?”
When you want to connect to more people, it’s often necessary to overlook your differences and to look for the similarities.
For now, I’m hoping that you will take some time to get in touch with the feeling of being limited.
I have found that when you get in touch with the feelings of limitation that come from difficult childhood experiences or abuse, then you can move past those feelings and expand to a different place of consciousness.
If you’re seeking financial freedom, then you have to learn how to feel free.
Are you willing to go through the process of making the internal changes that are necessary to live the life of your dreams?
Making the necessary changes is easier if you work with someone else. In this day and age, trying to do it alone just isn’t a good idea.
Once you set your intention, then what you need will show up. You just have to recognize it when it shows up.
Just focusing on money is not going to get you where you have to go. Focusing on feeling goals will make a big difference.
I talk about the energy tune-ups I do.

Andrea Austin is the Co-founder of My Conscious Wellness and Love Evolution, two organizations that deal with the expansion of conscious awareness through love. They use advanced consciousness-based technologies designed to balance and harmonize the subtle energy fields of the human form so people can easily let go of emotions, mental and physical traumas, and uncomfortable experiences.
Highlights
Andrea started out as an accountant. She shares how she switched to exploring conscious awareness after having an out-of-body experience.
She learned to trust that whatever came along was in her best interest.
Andrea began seeing the world with her inner eyes more than she had before.
In exploring what makes her happy, Andrea had to deconstruct previous concepts of what life was supposed to be.
There was a transitionary time when she had to understand that what she was seeing was not seen by everyone. She has learned to accept people where they are and not have expectations that are unrealistic.
Andrea hopes to show people that you can live in expanded consciousness and still be grounded in so-called reality.
There is a growing movement of people who are interested in learning how to cross between the two worlds.
Learn how to be an observer from a place of neutrality.
We talk about accepting our differences with other people rather than just searching for sameness.

I recently watched an interview on C-SPAN with Ursula Burns, the first Black female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. I was impressed with her ability to allow life to happen through her rather than working hard to make it happen. A great example of synchronicity.
Highlights
Brought up in a poor neighborhood, Ursula’s mother never let the kids know that they were poor.
I talk about how Ursula let her life happen rather than pushing toward a goal. The fact that she could not have conceived of being a CEO of a large company worked in her favor. I expand on this.
When you get yourself into the place where you allow your life to happen, you’ll get what you need to become who you are becoming.
It’s important to be satisfied with where you are and what you have and believe that what you need will show up but it will probably take longer than you want.
Problems and concerns are part of your journey.
I talk about the oppression that is prevalent in our society and relate something I went through via Microsoft that allowed me to feel controlled and powerless.
If you can recognize the situations when you feel controlled – or oppressed – it will allow you to process those feelings and not hold onto them.
When you hold things in rather than expressing them, it’s hard to let them go. It helps to talk to people about what’s bothering you – without kvetching.
Working through your emotions allows you to move your life comfortably forward.

Being is more important than doing.
Your real purpose is found internally.
When the heart aches, people often turn to distractions. By focusing on success on the outside, we are trying to fix the hurt that is on the inside.
If you feel restless, you don’t have to do something, you need to sit still.
Your emotional state determines how you see and relate to the world. Peace has always been there, but if you’re not looking for it, you won’t recognize that it’s there.

What are the words you use when you’re talking to yourself or others about your money? In this episode, I explore various money words that you may be using that could be holding you back with your money and in your life.
Highlights
Whatever you are telling yourself is what your subconscious will believe is true and will work to make it true.
Worrying about money has nothing to do with how much money you have.
What are your thinking habits about your money?
Growing up, what were the words you heard about money and was it enough?
What happens when you think about using the word enough?
Do you say things like, “I can’t afford that,” or “I haven’t got enough money for that”? Or, are you willing to say, “I’m choosing not to do that today”?
If you can perceive yourself as having enough, then you’re more apt to have enough.
If you are always focusing on what you don’t have, then it’s hard to create more.
What are the words you use to describe your financial situation?
Are you developing authentic relationships with other people so you can both share what’s going on for you?
The money doesn’t matter, the connections you experience do matter.
Think about the words you use to describe your money, your life, your relationships. You get to choose the words you want to use to describe everything in your life, including your money.
I talk about experiments that have been done with water and other substances where words have affected the quality of whatever was used.
Are you willing to look at what you’re creating in your life with the words that you were using?
Take a look at the words you are using and decide if those words are helping you create a positive life and business.
Do you have people in your life with home you can discuss what’s bothering you, not from a place of complaining but rather looking for solutions?
Your expectations are defining what you’re probably going to create, and the words you use help to define those expectations.

Lee Tomlinson had a life many would have considered charmed. He has been a successful world-trotting tennis pro, international businessman, major Hollywood film studio owner, award-winning TV producer, and the marketing genius behind the American Film Institute's 10-year long 100 Greatest Movies.
Then, his world crashed down when he was diagnosed with Stage III throat cancer and underwent months of painful treatments. As a result of his experience with the healthcare system, Lee is now known as the Compassionate Care Crusader. He is on a Mission to Restore Compassion to healthcare, healthcare professionals, and the world at large! In his new book, Compassion Heals: From Self-Care to Healthcare, Lee's message is about the power of compassion to heal mental, emotional, and physical pain – for others and ourselves.
Highlights
Because of his unusually active lifestyle, Lee has had more than the usual interactions with the healthcare system.
After his cancer diagnosis, we went through months of agonizing treatments and suffered from a sepsis infection. Lee shares how he felt like he was being treated like a “piece of meat”. No compassion.
When he was at his lowest point, a doctor friend convinced him to speak publicly about the effect of care without compassion.
Everything that divides us can be healed with compassion.
We are genetically programmed to need connection.
Lee shares techniques that we can use to show compassion for ourselves.
You have to take care of yourself and be healthy before you can help anyone else.
The most successful businesses are those that treat their customers and employees with compassion.
Don’t allow others to treat you without caring and compassion.
Compassion is necessary for the best outcome for a practitioner’s patients.
There is a movement now within the healthcare industry to learn compassion because they understand that their income depends on it.
Compassion is teachable, repeatable, and an undeniable healing and business benefit.
Each of us has to learn to speak up and demand compassion.

Entrepreneurs often complain that they don’t have enough either time or money. I have often spoken about the non-enough-money issue. In this episode, I talk about feeling that you don’t have enough time and how to develop a better relationship with time.
Highlights
I talk about my long history of examining the issue of time.
Staying focused in the present moment was often what I focused on in meditation. I often use the mantra, There is no past, there is no future, there is only the here and now.
Time is a series of nows, and if you’re focused on the past or the future, you are missing your life.
When you are focused in the moment, you are allowing things to happen rather than forcing things to happen.
I talk about age and how each decade is like a different phase of our lives, and I give some definition to each of the phases.
People often worry about how much time they have left and there is no way of knowing. So pay attention to today and what you feel the urge to do for yourself today – or perhaps for others.
Take the time to be with people because being with people allows you to feel more connected, which is extremely important. People who have good relationships live longer.
How do you complain about not having enough time? You have as much as you have – even though you don’t know what that is.
Are you leaving enough time in between activities for new ideas and information to come through?
If you are keeping yourself constantly busy and are always pushing to get to the next thing, you are missing a lot of your life.
Give yourself the time to do whatever makes you comfortable.
Time is a gift and you have to decide how you want to spend it.

The updated Conscious Synchronicity episode
My guest today is author and CEO, Marty Strong. Marty spent twenty years in the Navy's elite SEAL Teams learning effective leadership skills and mastering the art of turning vision into actionable strategy. After his service, he spent seven years as a financial advisor and portfolio manager with UBS before moving on to become a C-Suite executive. Marty's new book, Be Nimble, is set for release in Fall 2021.
Highlights
Marty shares how he decided to become a Navy SEAL and what’s behind the people who don’t make it through the training.
We talk about the 80-20 rule regarding success with the SEALs and for entrepreneurs.
You can teach tenacity, but you have to know how to teach it.
Being exposed to risk-taking as a child helps prepare you for being an entrepreneur.
Serial entrepreneurs often use failures as a strengthening exercise.
I asked Marty what drove him to be in the financial industry. It wasn’t planned.
Marty has the ability to go with the flow of life and not resist change.
Marty was not afraid of failure and over time, became a good problem solver.
Because of his family background, at an early age, Marty realized that he had to learn how to take care of himself.
We discussed whether qualities of strength and resilience are inborn and the person.
There are different ways of handling different forms of failure. Marty often looks at seeming failure as an opportunity to make changes.
When he was writing his book, Be Nimble, Marty asked himself the question, “Why am I the person to write this book?”
We talk about how people react to financial issues, including up and down income.
Most things in our evolution aren’t linear. There are always ups and downs. Marty tells how the lives of presidents Grant and Truman illustrate this principle.
I asked Marty if he was born with the name Strong. He was.

As the world is moving out of the Covid nightmare, each of us has the opportunity to create what we want to be our new normal. In this episode, I make some suggestions as to what we can do internally to create the life that’s right for us.
Highlights
Watch your self-talk and decide to stop talking to yourself like a critical parent. I give suggestions.
When you begin to treat yourself the way you’d like others to treat you, you’ll start drawing in people who treat you that way.
It’s up to you to decide who and how you want to be in the future.
Listen to your language when you are talking to yourself or to others. Are you always looking at the downside? Are you looking for sympathy or complaining? It helps to see the positive side of life.
Stop judging other people. They are doing the best they can at this point in time.
As you change your relationship with yourself, people who are a reflection of the new you are going to show up.
Examine your expectations. Do you expect people to embrace you or push you away? Do you expect to be a success or are you afraid of being disappointed? Your expectations are shaping your life stories.
What are your expectations of other people?
Notice your internal experience of whatever is going on. Recognize when you’re contracted, take a breath, and imagine your expanding.
Start noticing when you’re being defensive. You have the power to protect yourself.
Are you afraid about being treated badly causing you to push people away?
When people criticize you, they are really telling you about themselves.
I see that feeling sorry for yourself or feeling oppressed go deep within our culture. I talk about dealing with those two feelings.
The more you allow your life to happen, rather than trying to make it happen, the better you will get at creating what is right for you.
This is the perfect time to ask yourself if you want to go back to doing and being who you were or do you want to dig deep inside yourself and find a different way of being.
It’s okay to ask yourself how you want to change and to develop the support you need as you go through the change.

Today I’m going to bring some things to conclusion and open up the door to what might be lying ahead. In this episode, I talk about the fact that I’ve been trying to prove that if you get yourself into the right place, whatever you need to become, who you are becoming will show up. I also explain what I had to do to make this happen.
Highlights
What can happen when you live in the moment and let go enough to let life happen?
It’s not what happens to us that matters but how we respond to what’s happening.
I came to realize that I can control the amount of positivity that flows through me as well as how I decide to respond to whatever is happening.
It’s a matter of truly becoming a person who is content and willing to lead with love.
You have to let your life evolve so you can discover who you are becoming. However, you will have hints along the way and they will be an arc from your childhood to your life as it evolves.
You need to have feeling goals.
You will learn that you have the power to create what’s right for you – and you alone.
We are living in an unusual time where many people are going through self-exploration and you have the opportunity than usual to discover new aspects of yourself.
When we tune into the feelings of the group around us, it often keeps us from understanding our individual feelings.
You get to decide how you would like to live your life.
Getting yourself to the right place means being willing to follow your inner urge because that’s the voice of the part of you that sees the bigger picture.
Life is a series of choices, then deciding if those choices are really working for you.
I talk about how I decided to become a virtual speaker and what I did – without pushing or marketing – that allowed it to happen.
I share an experience where I started sharing about the energy work I used to do and that I want to do again.
Getting yourself to the right place is not easy. I explain why.
You have the power to control what’s going on inside of you – and only you.
Listen to the advice that others give you, then evaluate what they’ve said in terms of if it feels right to you and if you want to follow what they’ve suggested. This includes when you’re working with a coach.

In today’s episode, I talk about the emotional healing crisis that happens when you release long-held emotions. I explain how emotions don’t just happen in your mind, but also happen in your physical body and how you can deal with the resulting discomfort.
Highlights
When you don’t express your emotions, there is a buildup of the “molecules of emotion” on the receptors of your cell. Because emotions are a form of energy, this buildup can cause physical symptoms.
I talk about some physical effects of holding in emotions.
When you make significant emotional changes, there is an energetic shift throughout your body and you have to would just to the new configuration.
Because most people don’t understand the idea of healing crises, they will often do things to stop the process.
I talk about the emotional healing crisis I’ve been going through.
As you start shifting to a new way of being, there’s a chance that you’re going to go through a healing crisis.
There is a wide variety of symptoms that you may experience when going through a healing crisis.
It takes time to take care of your body which is an incredible machine that requires maintenance.
If you get in touch with your body and learn how to communicate with your body, you’ll know what action to take when you feel a little off.
It’s important to learn at least a little bit about how your body works and to have people you can talk to about how your body works.
No one can know your body better than you.
The healing crisis is just something that happens – it isn’t bad – and if you can understand it better then you’ll know how to deal with it.

Links
To share your experience with getting in touch with feelings of oppression, write to me at Joan@ProsperityPlace.com.
In today’s episode, I take a deep dive into an aspect of the connection between emotions and money – specifically the issue of chronic debting, which is an issue I dealt with for many years.
Highlights
By changing your inner environment, especially your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions, you can alter the outcomes of your life stories.
I talk about my family’s history with debting and how your family history will affect your financial behaviors. I also discuss my history and how I have dealt with debt.
Spending and debting allows us to feel connected to people.
I explained the process I use for discovering the emotions behind my behaviors.
Bodywork can help you release emotions that have been with you for a long time.
Chronic pain often is the result of long-held emotions.
I share an episode I had where I was able to reexperience the emotions I experienced while being abused – feeling oppressed, bullied, powerless.
I focus on the feeling of being oppressed and how that affects us individually and in our culture.
If many of us are carrying the feeling of being oppressed, we will, as a group, create being oppressed. Right now, there are many dramas going on between the oppressed and the oppressors.
Many of our leaders and corporations often act as the oppressors.
Whenever you have been through is what you need to become who you are becoming.
There is a group of emotional Gestalt that affects us on a cultural level.
Your life stories don’t create your feelings, your feelings create your life stories and this is true for groups as well.
When you come to understand and deeply experience your emotions, your life will move forward.
There is no simple answer – it’s a complex process. When you stop trying to be someone else and you are willing to fully accept yourself, you will be led to what you need. You need to follow and accept the things that show up.
When you learn how to recognize and differentiate between your different emotions, there is a simple process you can use to develop new responses to familiar stimuli.

In this episode, I explore how our fear of being alone often leads us to make decisions that don’t serve us well or meet our needs. This includes business and financial decisions as well as relationship decisions.
Highlights
We are wired to need other people and to fear being alone. This is a survival technique.
Money doesn’t come flying in the window: it comes from other people.
We have to understand what our needs are so we can satisfy ourselves.
You need whatever it is you’re getting today. Even the discomforts are part of your learning process.
Many people are afraid of wealth and power because it can be separating.
If you’re considering getting into a business or personal relationship, are you doing it because of your fear of being alone?
You have the option of creating an inner environment that allows you to feel satisfied with who you are today.
There are different qualities of a relationship and some people will click with us better than others. Some are just there to pass by and then move on.
If you are afraid of people and afraid of trusting life, you’re going to feel alone.
The feeling of being alone starts in early childhood – or before. If your mother felt alone when she was pregnant with you, then you will inherit that feeling.
The way to feel more connected is to recognize your feelings of aloneness and to not try to push the feeling away and to work through the emotion rather than trying to cover it up.
If you criticize yourself a lot, then you’re not connected to yourself.
Examine what it is you’re afraid of. Understand that financial fear is often the same as the fear of dying.
The fear of being alone often is the result of childhood abuse or neglect or your relationship with your parents.
Money can be the perfect mechanism for understanding the emotions that are holding you back.
Covid has brought 'feeling alone' into many people’s consciousness.
If you can let yourself feel the aloneness, then you’re one step closer to moving your life forward.
If the solutions are within you, why would you want to work with a coach or someone like that? I discuss.
If you have created a life that separates you from other people, that’s going to keep you from feeling fulfilled.

During the past few weeks, I have talked to a number of young people who have complained that even though they are doing EFT or BSFF and they’re trying to change their thoughts, they are still having trouble generating the income that they need to pay their basic expenses. In this episode, I talk about the inner work that will help you get unstuck financially.
Highlights
It’s important to manage your cash flow, especially when income is low.
Everyone has a different path, so it doesn’t work to say, “If I did it, you can do it too.”
Getting in touch with your inner guidance will help you find the best life that is right for you.
If you’re only focusing on income, you aren’t opening yourself to possibilities.
If you haven’t dealt with your money feelings by the time you’re in your mid-50s, those emotions will probably comment to the surface and you’ll have to deal with them.
Choose one thing that you want to work on and focus on that for whatever time it takes for a release.
When you only focus on the money, you aren’t getting to the real force behind your life stories.
I talk about ways you can shift negative self-talk.
If you don’t like what’s going on in your life, then you have the power to change it by changing what’s going on inside of you.
The more you understand about your inner world, the better you will be able to create the life you want.
It can take a year or more to change habitual responses to familiar stimuli.
Often, in the early part of our lives, what we’re going through is helping us realize what we’re not.
There is often an arc in our lives so that what we do as a young person comes back again in later years.
When you are feeling stuck financially, there isn’t just one thing that has to be done. But if you choose one thing to focus on, like changing yourself talk, you’ll see small gradual changes in your life.
I talk about how you can recognize, release, and replace the feelings that you are acting out through your money.
It’s really important to pay attention to your inner world in a non-judgmental way.
No one else can tell you what’s right for you. You have to get in touch with your inner guidance.
You get to choose – and every point – who you want to be and what you want to do.
Sometimes you have to be different from what you’ve been before.
There is no one thing that is going to change your financial situation.
You have the power to change your life. You don’t have the power to become someone else.

He is a retired Army Veteran, has written two best-selling books, founded two successful international consulting firms, and provides executive coaching, leadership development, and problem solving for companies and government agencies around the world.
David's messages inspire leaders and teams to obliterate obstacles, accelerate innovation, and elevate performance leaving everyone motivated and engaged for the future. His latest book is Leadersights.
Highlights
David shares how his 25 years in the Army taught him about leadership and how he became interested in the .
The evolving approach to leadership has become much more holistic, focusing on the inner world of the person as much as the outer world.
We encourage people to appeal to the emotions of those we are leading.
Leadership requires constant self-awareness and self-assessment.
Leaders who want to succeed are learning that they have to understand their people and their needs.
"Do it because I say so" method doesn't work anymore.
No single individual can control the changes that are happening, so leaders need to learn how to let go of their tendency to control.
David explains why the control approach has worked for so long and why it's no longer effective.
Servant leadership rather than authoritarian leadership is evolving and starts with the concept of love – putting the needs of my people above my needs.
The way you measure things drives the behavior, and the way Amazon measures things is causing some of their people problems.
Amazon's major measure is time – how quickly can we deliver to people and what do we have to do to make that happen.
Since Amazon has acquired Zappos, employee satisfaction has been lowered significantly because Amazon is not treating the employees the way that Zappos did.
Running businesses without paying attention to people is not sustainable.
David finds encouragement in the B Corporation movement where companies are creating really satisfying jobs for people.
The Covid pause is allowing people to take a really good look at their lives and their values and many are deciding to make major changes.
We talk about possible changes in society that will take place – many of which are starting to take place.
The decision cycle starts with love, and this requires that you learn about the needs of the people that you serve.
David talks about the learning groups he's hoping to put together.

Interview with Gary McGrath
About six weeks ago, I did an episode about feeling sorry for myself. Since then, I’ve seen how that applies to me and how feeling sorry for oneself affects many people. I’ve come to understand a number of related topics, including Personal Power, which I discuss in this episode.
Highlights
Step 1 in dealing with feeling sorry for yourself is to recognize the emotion and when it is coming up for you.
I’ve come to realize how very different each one of us is and how there’s no way to truly understand what goes on inside of other people. The only one who can fully understand you is you.
Many of our relationships are based on our wanting to be like other people.
You have created your life outcomes, which indicates how powerful you really are.
In our society, we haven’t learned how to embrace our differences as well as our similarities.
I realize that you can never fully understand everything about me and what I’m actually feeling. But you can relate to what I’m saying.
If we can each understand our differences, not just our similarities, we could live more peacefully with each other.
To be comfortable with who you are, it’s important to accept how much power you have.
In America, we have a huge amount of diversity, but a lot of people don’t want that diversity and don’t see its value.
To stop feeling sorry for ourselves, we have to stop feeling like victims.
When you start feeling powerless, examine your options and take action.
When you’re looking at yourself, it can be hard to go deep and you may be seeing yourself from a negative point of view.
This process can be complicated.
Are you willing to look at yourself without thinking that who you are being and what you’re doing is wrong? Are you willing to go through a little bit of discomfort in order to move in a positive direction?

How Feeling Sorry for Yourself Affects Your Life Outcomes – TPS451
In this episode, David Newkirk and I continue our conversation about how he integrates spirituality and intuition into his consulting work. He also describes the work his company, Adept6, does with his clients. David’s work with corporate clients goes deeper with individuals within an organization than most consultants.
Highlights
More people within the business world are now becoming more open to understanding their own behavior and how that affects their business outcomes.
Leaders who are looking for help are aware that methods they’ve used before have not worked.
Good leaders are willing to look at their behaviors and other internal elements that affect their decisions rather than resisting the change.
David helps people see how their decisions develop and what they need to do to make better decisions and improve relationships.
Only a small number of people are ready to do the kind of work that David does and he believes that people who are drawn to his type of approach will find him. He often gets referrals from people who have experienced his work.
David explains what Adept6, the name of his business means, and the six things that he focuses on. He explains how the results his clients get using his methods are longer-lasting than when traditional methods are used.
We talk about how, as a consultant, it’s necessary to pay attention to the whole human being in each of the team members, including how their emotional habits are affecting their decisions.
David’s intuitive abilities have allowed him to work in diverse organizations on a deep level.
What you put out there creates a vibration that draws in what you’re looking for. We talk about the advantages of getting yourself in the right place and waiting to see what shows up.
Don’t treat people as transactions.
When David meets new potential clients, he makes clear how his mind works so they can understand where they might go together and if that works for them.
Because he can intuit the potential outcome of a client’s actions, David has to gently present what he sees in a way that will allow the client to make a good decision.
Identify blind spots, remove complexity, and empower the client to be successful on their own.

David Newkirk: Bringing Spirituality Into His Business Consulting Part 1
As Principal and Founder of Ethos Consulting, David Newkirk brings over 30 years of experience working in large corporations, small privately owned companies and business start-ups. His work has been a source of innovative thinking that has changed how industries and business leaders adapt to the ongoing dynamic changes impacting them. The innovation has led to his creation of ADEPT6, a program that is changing how businesses adapt and make changes to sustain growth and profitability.
Highlights
David explains how the essence of his spirituality expresses itself through his business and how he defines spirituality.
When we are in unconditional love, we accept people for who they are in the moment.
Unconditional love is a choice we make.
Asking if someone is spiritual is passing judgement.
David talks about his wide experience in business and how that has helped him develop strategies for companies.
Because of his meditation practices, David is able to see and understand a wide picture that can help companies solve problems.
Everything is energy and energy is always in motion and everything in life is energy. When we open up our intuition, each of us has a separate way of translating what we see.
No one has more or less intuition, there are just different levels of development.
Meditation is about setting up a way of being.
The art of meditation is about observing and receiving.
Enlightenment isn’t a state of being to achieve.
We talk about purpose.
Because you have freedom of choice, you can’t have regrets.

A lot of business people, including those who are successful, often deal with stress, overwhelm, and worry. My goal has always been to be able to run my business without stress and to experience ongoing peace of mind. In this episode, I discussed how to achieve this state of peace of mind.
Highlights
It takes a while to decide who you are, who you want to be, and what you want to do with your life.
When you reach a place of peace, you’ll be happier, healthier, and more productive without pushing yourself.
You have to learn how to “read” the inner signals that help you discriminate between what you need and what you don’t need.
If your goal is to experience success and peace of mind, you have to make the decision to do that.
The question isn’t what do you want to do, but who do you want to be.
Are you aware of the emotions that are driving you?
The difference between happiness and contentment is the corresponding brain chemicals.
Is it possible to live in a state of gratitude, acceptance, and satisfaction?
I was guided to learn to experience equanimity rather than getting hyper-excited about what was going on in my life.
You can train yourself to be in that state of equanimity, which allows you to live your life without stress.
Peace of mind requires a habit of acceptance and satisfaction and getting there, requires being aware of the habitual emotions that keep you from getting there.
This requires practicing and developing self-awareness and deciding what you want to be feeling instead of what you’re feeling now.
You have many different aspects of your personality. It takes a while to recognize which one of your aspects you’re being at any moment.
The system that I teach is about developing new responses to familiar stimuli so that things that normally trigger you no longer do.
One of the ways of becoming aware of your current emotional responses is through your money. I explain.
Start noticing the kinesthetic experience in your body any time you’re dealing with money. Do you feel contracted or expanded?
You can decide how you want to feel.
What will it take for you to be okay in this moment?

Daniel Z. Lieberman is the author of The Molecule of More: How a Single Chemical in Your Brain Drives Love, Sex, and Creativity―and Will Determine the Fate of the Human Race. He is a professor and vice chair for clinical affairs in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at George Washington University, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a recipient of the Caron Foundation Research Award. In addition to writing science books, he works with patients, teaches medical students, and does behavioral research.
Highlights
All of our wealth comes from new ideas, so it helps to understand how the brain works.
Lieberman talks about the basics of why dopamine is so important.
Dopamine is so much more than just the pleasure molecule.
Dopamine is not about contentment or satisfaction because those emotions don’t stimulate us to seek more. Dopamine is the transmitter of anticipation.
People who have highly active dopamine systems are more likely to be entrepreneurs, artists, and to suffer from mental illness.
Dopamine leads to pleasure, but not happiness or satisfaction. That comes from other brain chemicals.
We talk about the reward prediction error and how it can lead to disappointment.
Some people go into things with low expectations. With low expectations, you are apt to get more positive feelings when things work out well.
If you always expect the best, you are bound to be disappointed.
Dopamine always pushes towards more.
People have to decide what they want out of life.
People who are highly dopaminergic aren’t happy or satisfied, but the rest of us profit from their dissatisfaction.
Artists are driven more by meaning than happiness.
We talk about entrepreneurs and their constant desire for more.
It’s not true that you can have it all. You have to make choices.
Once we understand how our brains work, we can make better choices.
We talk about addiction, the power of cravings, and how to overcome cravings.
Understanding how brains work helps you understand and tolerate others.

Herb “Flight Time” Lang is an 18-year former player and coach with the World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters who is now a speaker, entrepreneur, motivator, and author. Throughout his travels, to nearly 90 countries with the Globetrotters, some of Herb’s most memorable
moments include meeting Pope Francis, President Obama, and appearing on numerous national television commercials and reality TV shows—most notably CBS’s “The Amazing Race.” He currently resides in Sacramento, California, where he is the proud father of two, and continues to make a difference through kindness and his life experiences, which he believes are the keys to maximizing what we get out of life. He is a true believer in that we are all rich with love and kindness. "Kindness Is Free!"
Highlights
Herb tells us how he was surrounded by kindness as a child and how that affected him.
He also shared what he went through physically to become one of the Harlem Globtrotters.
We talk about how his background taught him how to survive being a celebrity. He said it was important for him to never forget where he came from.
Some of the things that have given me the most pain are the things I’ve learned the most from. It taught me resilience.
“The feedback I get from others is what keeps me going.”
Herb’s positive mindset has inspired others. Being around a bunch of older people is what helped him develop the positive mindset along with his high-school basketball coach.
With the work he’s doing now, Herb is trying to teach young people how to develop kindness.
Look into a young person’s eyes and feed them all the things that you’ve learned along the way.
Things aren’t as bad as you think they are.
It takes support for us to achieve our dreams. Reach out to others.
I asked him how he deals with “the downs”. Now, he meditates and goes for daily walks. He also takes his mind back to “the kid me” where he had all his dreams.
We talk about “the wall” that often surrounds people of wealth and celebrity. Herb doesn’t have that wall.
Kindness is within all of us. We just have to let it out.
It bothers me when I see people who had a difficult childhood and now they’re doing the same things to their kids. I can only understand it and show them another way.
We are all children at heart.
The world is not a bad place.
My purpose is to do the best I can while I’m here.

In this episode, I share a recent experience that led to a major AHA. I recognized a habitual emotion that has been with me and has affected my life for a very long time. I think a lot of you will relate to this.
Highlights
I review my basic theory about how habitual emotions are the creative force behind our life stories.
Once I realized that I had a habit of feeling sorry for myself, I looked at all the times in my life it had affected decisions I had made even though I wasn’t aware that I was feeling sorry for myself.
I have learned not to judge myself because of things I have done in the past and decisions I have made.
It takes time and practice to develop a facility with recognizing your emotions and how they affected you in the past.
Along the line, I came to understand that in order to get healthy I had to change my persona – without realizing how long that would take.
I think that the best way to get to the core of why you do what you do is to understand not only the thoughts and beliefs that go into your decision-making but also to understand the emotions behind every decision you make.
One of the things I decided to do was to learn how to let go of negative self-talk.
How often do you feel sorry for yourself?
Comparing yourself to others will often allow you to feel sorry for yourself.
Lots of successful people never reach the levels they think they ought to and even though they have a lot, they still feel sorry for themselves.
It’s not that easy to make the necessary changes by yourself.

She has worked with clients for over 25 years, helping them keep their head out of their ass so they can scale with ease. She is the author of five books, winner of multiple awards and a woman who treats her own personal development like an extreme sport.
Highlights:
Dana Pharant was brought up in a cold and also went through all kinds of abuse. When she left the cult at 18, she went on a healing journey. She explains how her time as a dominatrix was part of her healing journey.
In the work that she does now, Dana uses her experience to help empower her clients.
We talk about how women can often have the fantasy of dominating, although Dana says that many men and women want to let go and be submissive.
A dominatrix is a high-level service position. Dana explains.
We talk about the difference between power and control and the different ways that leaders express their power. It’s about 'power with' rather than 'power over'.
Power comes from letting go. In order to be able to let go, it’s essential that you understand why you need to be in control.
For the women that Dana works with, there can be a real fear of letting go of control. Dana talks about the shift in mindset that women have to go through in order to let go.
I asked Dana to explain how she helps people understand the difference between feminine and masculine power. Making the shift is a matter of reprogramming the brain.
Dana shares some techniques she uses to help people trust their intuition including how to ask your body what it needs.
When you let yourself be who you really are, you get a sense of profound freedom.
We talk about the value of letting your intuition guide your creative process.
Men and women access their intuitive inspiration differently.
People are becoming more accepting of some of the “woo” ideas about energy.
Dana is very grounded and uses the term “practical woo”.
We talk about letting go and allowing our businesses to take shape rather than pushing to make things happen.

During these uncertain times, it’s difficult for people to experience a sense of equanimity – where you can maintain calm no matter what’s going on. Our brains are wired to warn us of danger when things are uncertain. In this episode, I talk about how you can develop some calm in the midst of the chaos.
Highlights
It’s possible to train yourself to maintain calm during times of chaos if you’re willing to listen to your inner voice and follow its instructions.
We can do better in our business and financially if we let go of our attachment to the outcomes.
If I’m setting goals based on what I know from the past, I’m not leaving room for new information and opportunities to come to me.
If you are skeptical and don’t trust others or yourself, it’s going to be hard for you to be able to draw in what you want and need.
Letting go and trusting is important if you want to find your true pathway.
If you’re trying to get back to what we had before Covid, it’s not going to happen. So much in our lives is changing – and will continue to change as the story evolves.
It’s important to develop ways of centering yourself and bringing yourself back to the current moment.
The idea is to minimize your fear and wait to see what shows up - and there will be some scary moments as we move towards the new reality.
How willing are you to believe that what’s happening now is to your advantage?
Are you prepared to die? If you take care of all the details, then you can let go of some of your fear of death.
If you are afraid of getting Covid or afraid of dying, then you need to do something about it so the fear doesn’t take up a whole lot of your thinking time.
Fear of not having enough money is actually the fear of dying.
I talk about how to deal with the fear of running out of money.
To be peaceful all the time, there are certain skills you have to develop.

David M. Howitt is the founder & CEO of Meriwether Group and author of Heed Your Call is an inspiring thought leader and accomplished entrepreneur. David has over twenty years of experience providing financial, strategic, and brand counseling to early stage, and Fortune 100 companies. He has the unique ability to integrate vision and growth strategies with mission and purpose.
Highlights
David is a big fan of Joseph Campbell and The Hero’s Journey.
As a young boy, David had the urge to explore beyond the limited world he knew but avoided following that urge to explore. After getting married, having children, and working for years as an attorney, he knew he had to move in a new direction.
The business owners that David works with are able to integrate their spiritual lives with their business. He talks about the power of and rather than the power of or.
We talk about what it is that allows one person to move out of the “abyss” and move forward rather than staying stuck where they have been.
When you let go of what you think you should be and discover who must be that’s when synchronicity can happen and unexpected doors will open for you.
When he interviewed hospice workers, the number one regret that they heard from people on their deathbed was that they lived the life that other people wanted them to live.
There is a paradigm shift happening where younger people are beginning to understand that they don’t have to suffer to be considered a productive member of society. They are more interested in experiences than acquiring more things.
Sometimes we have to follow the wrong path to discern what the right path for us is.
We repair the world by following the “breath of God” that resides within us.
The question is, “How do we create the world that we really want?”
David talks about how the Meriwether Group helps people discover how they can become co-creators of their perfect life and lead from a place of intentionality.
We are now seeing the integration of Eastern and Western philosophy, of left brain and right brain, of artistry and analytics and that the magic happens with the integration of the ashram and the boardroom.
The beauty is in letting go.

This past Sunday, I gave a talk at The Celebration, the spiritual group I belong to and thought you might like to hear it. I’ve been interested in the idea of synchronicity for a long time and I shared some of my thoughts about it in this episode.
If you have stories about your experience with synchronicity, I’d love to hear about them. You can email them to Joan at ProsperityPlace.com.
I recently woke up with the word “truth” sounding loudly in my mind which led me to think about truth – a lot – and how I might talk about it on a podcast episode. Because we have been going through a period of a lot of not truth I’ve been pondering what we miss when we don’t tell the truth. I discuss it in this episode.
Highlights
I ask, “Why the advantage of telling the truth or the truth of you?”
Years ago, I committed to tell the truth all the time. It is really difficult.
People often exaggerate in order to make a better impression, which makes it difficult to tell if they’re telling the truth or not.
I talk about all the claims made in commercials that I perceive is not being true.
We’re becoming adapted to alternative realities and “alternative truth”.
In order to connect to your truth, you have to develop a certain amount of intuition.
To develop self-awareness, you need to be able to learn to travel into the depths of yourself.
We sometimes think that people who display a lot of self-confidence no more than we do.
As children, we often suppressed ourselves because it appeared to be safer.
Every time you adjust your truth, you're slowing down the process of finding out who you are becoming.
Humans are complicated, and finding our own path is complicated because we have to overcome a lot of the messages we got as children.
We tend to not honestly express our emotions.
I talk about the nuances that are sometimes necessary when telling the truth.
What are the things that you think about but never talk to other people about?
What is it that separates you from other people that you never talk about?
I talk about my invisible disability and how I have kept it hidden. But I now see that I’m actually holding myself back by doing this.
Whatever you are thinking is limiting you may be what you’re identifying as a disability.
If you have a physical disability, that’s not something that’s wrong with you, it’s just something you have to deal with.
Each of us is separate, unique, and valuable. You can’t understand your value to the greater society, if you’re thinking that you’re less-than.
What is it about you that you consider something that holds you back? That would be what you perceive to be your disability. That is the truth of you and your life doesn’t have to be diminished because of it.
The truth of you shall set you free.
There’s nothing wrong with you that needs fixing. You just have habitual thoughts beliefs and emotions that may need to change. And you can do that.

Highlights
Gary shares his journey to learning about emotional intelligence.
The only two characteristics of leadership effectiveness are emotional intelligence and cognitive judgment.
In business, we often don’t understand the importance of emotions and leadership.
Four parts of emotional intelligence are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.
Emotional intelligence means being able to tell – in the moment – how you are feeling and how someone you’re talking to is feeling.
Without emotional intelligence, you are trying to build your business as a manager, not a leader.
Gary defines leadership.
Typically, men have low self-awareness and high self-management. Women tend to have high self-awareness. Gary explains the brain science behind this phenomenon.
If a man tells a woman, “you’re being too emotional”, he is actually insulting her biology.
Men basically have two emotions – happy and pissed.
85% of performance problems at work are about problems outside of work. Our emotional state at work is impacted by everything in our life.
The only way we can truly show someone we care is by understanding their emotions.
Emotional intelligence is often thought of as a soft skill, but it is not. It’s hard.
Every decision that you make is an emotional one.

If you are afraid of running out of money, that indicates that you are feeling alone.
If you think you need more money, you are saying that you need more people because money is always attached to people.
Feeling like there’s never enough means that you feel like not enough.
Fear of losing what you have is often the result of abandonment stories.
The idea is to recognize the feeling and express it.
When you hear yourself thinking that you need more money, ask yourself, “What am I feeling?”
How you were brought up – either in poverty or wealth – will affect your money emotions.
If you let yourself deal with the feelings, you aren’t going to have to repeat the dramas.
Learning how to manage cash flow can mollify financial fears.
When you learn how to put off purchases, you can manage your money better.
I talk about learning how to delay gratification.
If you learn how to manage your need for gratification and your dopamine signals that you need more, you can feel better about yourself and your money.
You can use the Covid pause to retrain your emotional responses.
Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have.
This is a good time to learn to recognize and deal with your emotions.

The new year is soon to be upon us. In this episode, I ask you to decide what choices you want to make in the new year as to who you want to be and what you want to be doing. What changes do you want to make?
Highlights
We have no idea what our lives or our world are going to look like in the coming year.
There’s going to be a new normal, but we have no idea what normal is going to look like.
Covid has given us the opportunity of reevaluating everything in our life. Do we really want to go back to what was, or do we want to create something new that is more satisfying?
It’s hard to set goals when you have no idea what the future is going to look like. I suggest that instead of setting doing goals that you set feeling goals.
The one thing that you have control over and the power to change is your internal environment.
What we are all going through, provides us with the opportunity to ask who we want to be and what we want to change. Change is happening whether you wanted to or not.
What is it that you can do to create some certainty for yourself?
It is impossible to create specific goals when you have no idea what the external environment is going to be.
I’m going to ask you – if you’re willing – to examine your internal environment and decide what choices for change you want to make in the new year.
This is the time for choice. You are where you are because of the choices you have made and now you can make different choices that will allow you to move in a different direction.
Every choice that you make has an emotional component.
We have been given the opportunity, at this juncture in time, to examine our lives and make new choices.
What will it take for you to be the best version of yourself today?
If we all make changes together, it will affect the entire world.

Jan shares her unusual background in sales as a Jehovah's Witness where she learned how to accept rejection.
Leaders often feel l like outsiders, which can be an asset. They also have to be their own person.
We talk about how Jan presents the idea of sales to people who might be repulsed by the idea of selling.
Jan explains why she doesn’t use high-testosterone words like prospect, close, or filling the pipeline.
Women are usually really good at sales and outsell men by 11%, even though they break many of the rules.
Women entrepreneurs outsell men, but they earn less because they often under-price their services.
Jan talks about money mindset and the assessment she uses to measure where a person is vis-à-vis money. She explains the idea of money archetypes.
A person’s genetic coding can also affect financial behaviors.
Changing your money mindset requires more than learning financial skills. The inner work has to be done.
I asked Jan how she helps people overcome their money mindset blocks.
Women often don’t see the value that they bring. Jan explains how she teaches women to overcome this.
Jan talks about dealing with the objection, “I can’t afford it” and how to discover if a potential client is a good fit for you.
People often rush through a sales conversation because they don’t like doing it.
There are various techniques that Jan uses to help people gain the confidence needed in order to sell.
Your internal habits and self-concept can affect your ability to sell. We talk about the elements that can come into play.
Our tribal programming can keep us from reaching our next income level.

In this episode, I talk about the feelings stimulated by the election in the US. Lots of people are angry, which can cause all sorts of physical problems. We all have a choice as to how we want to feel and who we want to be.
Highlights
If you are angry about the election, you have probably been angry all of your life – both individually and as a group.
Ongoing anger will negatively affect your health.
Heart attacks are often related to adrenaline responses.
Many people are motivated by anger – which is not healthy.
Do you want to be on the side of tension or release?
Constant tension leads to physical problems.
Who do you want to be and how do want your health to be?
It’s a whole lot more comfortable to be on the peaceful side of life.
Choosing to be a peaceful person will make your life more comfortable.
Let’s connect through the light, not the darkness.
You have a choice as to how you want to live your life and how you want to feel. You are not the victim of circumstances.

Synchronicity is all about perfect timing – being at the right place at the right time. Paul explains and relates it to intuition.
The mastery is being able to make synchronicity happen using tools such as the I Ching.
Become aware of when synchronicity happens.
Paul tells a wonderful story about how synchronicity played a part in his starting his successful business.
Paul believes that everything happens for a reason.
Fear interferes with synchronicity.
It’s important to be led by your heart.
When money isn’t the focus, you have more opportunities to learn about yourself.
Paul tells more stories about how synchronicity played a part in finding a perfect house and getting the perfect domains.
The I Ching doesn’t care what you want to hear.
The advantage of using the I Ching is that allows you to feel more connected to all that is.
We talk about the hexagram Youthful Folly.

Humans have an ingrained need to feel safe, which is difficult in the current environment. In this episode, I offer suggestions to help you create a habit of feeling safe.
Highlights
It’s pretty hard to feel safe when your world seems to be falling apart.
Feeling safe is a matter of brain training.
Safe is a feeling, not a situation.
When I became aware of not feeling safe in certain situations I decided to teach myself to feel safe.
First, have you ever felt safe?
Sit still and do nothing and notice the busyness in your mind and make a decision that you will teach yourself to feel safe.
Entrepreneurship often feels unsafe.
Our brains are wired to always be looking for danger.
It helps to assess the situation and re-perceive the situation.
Out in nature is a good place to practice feeling safe.
After you assess a situation, take a deep breath and determine what action you need to take, if any.
I did a blog post about the value of imagining a positive future. Read it here.
We will go through a difficult time as we transition out of COVID-19 into the future.
Look inside your body and notice when you feel contracted.
If you are worried about money, I offer some suggestions for getting beyond that.
You can’t make good decisions when you are worried.
No one else can help you feel safe. It’s a habit you have to develop.

I recently saw a short video on LinkedIn that talked about visualization and it pushed some buttons for me. In this episode, I talk about my long experience with visualizations and what you can expect if you are using them as a technique for getting what you want.
Highlights
I share how I tried to use visualizations that didn’t work. Understandably.
There are times when visualizations do work.
What you are visualizing has to be in tune with your true path in life.
I have faith that I’ll be led to what I need.
Results with affirmations and visualizations will probably take longer than you want. You can’t control time.
Learning how to wait is a useful skill to develop. I share a technique for doing this.
Being in a hurry doesn’t work. You have to learn to deal with time.
I discuss trying to “manifest” money, which involves other people’s behaviors.
If you have a disappointment habit, your visualizations probably won’t work.
You have to teach yourself how to feel satisfied—and safe.
It’s important to get your feelings in the right place.
Learning to manage money and cash flow is important if you want to create more money.
I trust that whatever I’m going through is what I need to become who I’m becoming.
The act of creating your life stories is probably going to take longer than you think. So you have to learn to wait.

Dr. Marina Bruni trains her students to simultaneously shift from right-brain to left-brain and from left-brain to right-brain strategies. A dual-qualified lawyer and coach, she is a featured speaker in the sequel to The Secret, How Thoughts Become Things.
As a Master of Neuro-Linguistic and Energy, Dr. Marina Bruni teaches how to activate your brain to tap into your energetic DNA, create more powerful choices, and design the outcome you want. She has shared stages with world-class speakers such as Sharon Lechter, Les Brown, and Jack Canfield to name a few.
Highlights
Marina discusses what she means by “energetic DNA” and why knowing about it is important.
I ask how she defines prosperity and abundance because that is one of the main outcomes she is promoting.
Being wealthy and being rich are two different things.
Make sure that your definition of success is what you really want.
How can a person determine what they want and how can they find their place of comfort in this chaotic world?
Most people want to fit in, which makes it difficult for them to see things from a different perspective.
Each of us attracts people who can best benefit from what we have to share.
Coaches often want to work with people who mirror who they are.
I ask how each of us determines our energetic DNA and if it changes over the years.
We talk about how each of us has our own truth.
The energetic DNA is not the same as our genetic DNA.
When we make choices that are out of tune with our energetic DNA, it creates some blocks and negative patterns which make it difficult to tap into our own energetic qualities.
Marina says that the only way to discover our energetic DNA is to have Marina do a reading. She explains what happens during one of her readings.

If you think you need more money, in reality, you need more people because money always comes from people. Because aloneness is one of the main emotions acted out through money. In this episode, I discuss how building a robust network can help overcome feelings of aloneness.
Highlights
Creating a network can be difficult because it means a change in behaviors.
In business, you can be part of multiple networks.
A business network can allow you to create a team of other professionals that you can use with your clients.
I talk about the different networks I belong to.
It takes time to adjust to the pace of a new network you are joining
The organizations I belong to function on the give to get principles.
If you are functioning by yourself, it’s difficult to build a successful business.
I talk about the value of having a podcast and using social media to form different types of connections.
The internet provides a lot of opportunities for connection, but you have to reach out and nurture relationships.
The question is, how can you increase your network?
I talk about some of the networking opportunities during the pandemic.
Connection is one of the keys to business success.
Try different groups in order to find one that might work for you.
In this day and age, we can’t do things alone.

It takes a major crisis in a person’s life that leads them to make changes. He shares what led him to start meditating.
Even a novice can be trained to reach the brain states of Zen masters.
When people raise their brain states are they led to make other changes in their life?
Dawson differentiates between seekers and finders.
Childhood trauma has to be healed before you reach the highest states.
When you are committed to meditation practice, synchronicity increases.
People who are in sync with themselves become in sync with planetary pulses.
If you are a resilient person, you see life’s difficulties from a solution-oriented point of view.

In this episode, Bob Miglani explains how chaos is opportunity in disguise. Bob is a keynote speaker, bestselling author, and Founder of Embrace the Chaos, an Experiential Change Company. He helps people and organizations change, transform and grow. Bob was born in poverty in India and grew up in the U.S. helping his family run their successful Dairy Queen franchise for 25 years. Bob had a successful 23-year corporate career in New York. While going through massive change in his job, Bob was able to adapt and reinvent himself to grow. His journey became the subject of his Washington Post bestselling book called Embrace the Chaos, inspiring others on how to embrace change in their job, career, business, and life. Today, Bob helps teams adapt to the post-pandemic world.
Highlights
Bob talks about how and why he got interested in embracing the chaos.
You can’t control the chaos, so let go of the idea of controlling it.
It’s important to learn how to deal with uncertainty. You can do this by creating some certainty for yourself.
Instead of thinking of the worst that can happen, set a goal for yourself in the future that you can focus on.
This is a good time to reinvent yourself and think about starting a business.
We talk about how people can overcome their fear of the future.
The chaos won’t go away, but you can control it better by controlling yourself.
So much of what we do is habitual. Bob talks about breaking old patterns.
Meditation can help you recognize the patterns.
We talk about letting go and trusting that something will show up.
To move forward, it helps to let go of the past.
Opportunities can only come to an open hand.
If you wait for perfection, you’ll get nowhere in life.
Chaos is opportunity in disguise.

In this episode, I share my experience going through sepsis, a potentially fatal condition that I obviously survived. The experience has led me to do a lot of thinking about the frailties of our medical system and I share some of my thoughts with you.
Highlights
I share the harrowing experience I went through when I thought I had COVID-19, but it turned out I had sepsis.
I’ve been thinking a lot about our medical system and its shortcomings and how people make unhealthy decisions for themselves.
We haven’t taught people that they have control of their health.
Your body is a complex machine that needs certain kinds of fuel. The wrong fuel will cause symptoms.
Each body has different needs.
We put too much faith in the opinions of medical doctors. It’s important to learn how to communicate with your body.
There are good practitioners within the allopathic system who are open and willing to try alternatives. The idea of integrative medicine that combines different systems is what makes sense to me.
If you’d like to share your thoughts with me on this topic, you can write to me at Joan@ProsperityPlace.com.

Highlights
For people who have wanted to leave their jobs, is this a good time to start a new business?
Mike asked himself, “Am I living my passion every day?”
We talk about how one finds one’s passion.
Ask what am I good at that could be the basis for a business and take one step forward at a time. Get help and input from others.
Break everything down to the simple things that you have to learn and tackle one at a time.
Engaging people in an authentic way is the basis of sales.
We talk about establishing relationships using Zoom rather than in person.
Mike has looked deeply into the issue of trust, which is more about us than the person who is trying to gain our trust.
We can develop trust in business relationships if we agree on the future goal, a common outcome, and the rules of the game.
There is a scarcity mindset happening now rather than their normal abundance mindset.
High end earners rarely give referrals to others.
We talk about approaching high-end clients.
Mike shares his personal challenge to not sound promotional when talking to people. He uses writing books to put forth his genuine desire to help others.
After you figure out your why, identify your ideal customer and interview them about themselves and what they want. Learn the language of your ideal customers.
If you don’t lead by serving, you aren’t leading.
Be patient, be serving, be compassionate.
This is one of the rare moments in history where everyone is experiencing similar emotions. This allows for more authentic discussions.
People are becoming tired of the chaos which Mike believes will lead us to a better place.

In this episode I share some thoughts about what each of us can do to overcome feelings of aloneness and powerlessness that are affecting a lot of people during this difficult time.
Highlights
I’m trying to identify the emotions, both comfortable and uncomfortable, that I’m experiencing now.
Because I like to solve problems, not knowing how to help leads me to feel powerless.
I have no power to change what’s going on outside of me. I can only change what’s going on inside of me.
The people in power don’t understand what ordinary people have to go through.
What can each of us do – what actions can we take – to help lift the burden that so many are feeling.
Although there’s a lot of aloneness going on, we have the opportunity to reach out and connect to others.
It’s important to reach out to others and be authentic about how you are feeling and what you are dealing with.
If we share our feelings with others, both up and down, we can feel more whole.
Who might you reach out to just to ask How are you doing?
How can you re-perceive the current situation?
We need to connect to and support others.
We have to look beyond the past and into the future. And, you have the right to imagine a positive future.
Try to imagine positive solutions and results of what has been happening.
How can you look into the future and see a positive story?

Mark Wolynn is the director of the Family Constellation Institute in San Francisco. He is a leading expert in the field of inherited family trauma. His book It Didn't Start With You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle (published by Viking/Penguin) is the winner of the 2016 Nautilus Book Award in psychology and has been translated into 19 languages. His articles have appeared in Psychology Today, Mind Body Green, MariaShriver.com, Elephant Journal, and Psych Central, and his poetry has been published in The New Yorker.
Highlights
Mark explains what Family Trauma is.
When trauma is unresolved it can pass on to future generations.
Many of us live with medical mysteries that need deeper examination.
Our sense of not having enough can hark back to not getting enough attention from our mother in early life.
If the mother has a previous difficult pregnancy or miscarriage, or any difficult life experience during pregnancy, that will affect the child’s experience as a fetus.
Instead of blaming your parents because you are, in some way, screwed up, find out what trauma they experienced that allowed them to treat you the way they did.
There’s a long list of questions about their parents that Mark asks his clients.
Although early memories may not be available to us, they still affect us.
By understanding what your parents went through, it makes it easier to forgive your parents. We can then let go of whatever anger we are holding on to.
Mark helps people get out of the stress response so they can have new, more pleasant experiences and build new neural pathways while overcoming the stress response.
Mark mentions some of the techniques he uses and how he helps people become “trauma detectives”.
Trauma in our family history can determine how success does or does not flow to us.
Because of Covid, we have the chance to look inside and work through past traumas.
What’s your worst fear? It time to look at this.
When traumas are not talked about, that’s what leads to repeating the pattern.

In this episode, I talk about the importance of getting in touch with your emotions and how you have choices about how you want to respond to life experiences. I also talk about the connection between emotions and health.
Highlights
We can decide to stay in fear or to learn how to mollify our fear.
People are beginning to see that there is more to us and our world than what is obvious in our three-dimensional world.
If we could tap into our existence outside of three-dimensional reality, we will feel more comfortable and connected.
Emotions affect your life stories and your health. I talk about the connection between emotions and health.
The USA is not a healthy nation and it’s partially because we haven’t learned how to express our emotions.
I talk about the feelings of being unheard, unseen, and unappreciated. These emotions start in early childhood.
Chronic disease is often caused by unexpressed emotions.
Doctors often don’t understand the emotional connection to disease.
Your unique combination of emotions is the song you sing.
There’s a huge amount of fear now because of the uncertainty.
You can’t just stop fear. You have to do something else instead.
You don’t have control of the virus, but you do have control of your behavior.
Our choices need to go beyond our own self-interest.
Allowing myself to feel my feelings helps me feel more connected
We are all more powerful than we realize.

Jen Coken is the executive coach for Badass Boss Ladies who are ready to smash obstacles, jump over hurdles, and grab snarling dogs by the ears. For twenty years she's been beating down BS with a velvet sledgehammer tasseled with humor. She is also an international speaker and best-selling author. When she isn't doing all of that, you can find her performing stand-up comedy or eating Nutella by the spoonful in the nearest grocery aisle.
Highlights
Jen tells us how her comedy emerged from experiences as a child.
Jen’s focus is on helping people deal with what’s called Imposter Syndrome.
We talk about Imposter Syndrome – what it is and how it presents itself.
Women often learn to be number two, although this wasn’t Jen’s experience.
Jen’s mission is to empower others to fulfill their missions.
The problem comes from comparing ourselves to others. Also, working all of the time (Superwomen or Superman complex)
Because people with the syndrome often think they don’t belong, they are constantly trying to overcompensate.
Jen talks about the different manifestations of imposter syndrome and the techniques she uses to help people deal with imposter syndrome.
Calling it imposter syndrome allows us to better understand why we do what we do so we can deal with it.
Rather than calling it a syndrome, call it a phenomenon. That way, you aren’t saying there’s something wrong with you.
Feeling like an imposter happens any time you doubt yourself.
Jen tells us how to recognize the reactive emotions that show up and what triggered those emotions.
She also discusses how she helps people develop new habitual responses.

Aaron McCormick was raised in poverty on the south side of Chicago by a single mother with no education and a father who was likely an undiagnosed bipolar schizophrenic. Tightly controlled by an extreme fundamentalist religion that allowed no personal freedom, Aaron ultimately defied expectations of failure. In his early twenties, despite being a minority with no college degree Aaron became a leading seven-figure-earning corporate sales executive and entrepreneur who earned an MBA. How he managed to rise above his difficult beginnings is unveiled in his book Unbounded - Journey to Your Within where he shares suggestions with the reader for following an inner path to an unbounded life.
Highlights
I ask Aaron what he thinks it was that allowed him to rise above his beginnings.

Problem-solving skills come from being more introspective and asking the why question.
Aaron talks about how to find your Why.
What you’ve gone through is what has led you to where you are. Appreciate your journey.
Current events are emotionally triggering, causing fear and anxiety. Because a lot of distractions have been removed, we get to look within and deal with our own darkness and get beyond the fear.
Aaron talks about how humanity's group darkness of the soul will lead to positive changes.
Aaron shares how people can get past money fears.
I ask Aaron if he thinks we are going to experience real change regarding the treatment of minorities.
Growing up, Aaron did not have anger about how blacks were treated. He sees that if you expect to be treated unfairly, you will be.
Loving yourself as you are allows you to assume others will also treat you well.
Everything about you is exactly as it should be.

In today’s episode, I talk about why, if you want to move forward, it’s important to create space for you to grow and expand as a person and in business. I share the process I’ve been going through and make some suggestions.
Highlights
I share about the process I have been going through and how wonderful it feels.
Feels like I’m moving into something new.
Now, when I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, instead of processing feelings, I’m having wonderful memories from childhood.
To let go so you can experience freedom, you have to take action internally and externally so you can learn to feel free.
What are the beliefs that you are holding on to such as success requires that you work hard?
Changing the software I’ve been using for my marketing is helping me see my business from a new point of view.
The Synchronicity Marketing Method is where you listen to your intuition and have the faith that everything you need will show up.
I’ve also been letting go of behavior that hasn’t been serving me, such as making impulsive decisions.
Making big changes takes a major commitment to yourself.
No matter how much you let go, there’s always more.
Part of letting go is not having to know what comes next.
Our lives are just a series of choices.
When you do something that stretches you, and you have to let go of the fear.
Do something that you think you can’t do.

David Wood is a high-performance coach for executives, entrepreneurs, and teams and the author of “Get Paid For Who You Are.” He was nominated to the Transformational Leadership Council alongside such thought leaders as Don Miguel Ruiz, John Gray, and Marianne Williamson. David believes the tough conversations we avoid are our doorways to confidence, success, and even love – in both work and life. In this episode, we talk about having tough conversations about money and race.
Highlights:
David tells us how he decided to focus on tough conversations when he worked in corporate and eventually learned about things like emotional intelligence and other personal growth techniques.
When conversations are looming, we tend to avoid them.
With the CARE model David uses, the first step is to ask, “What is your hope for this conversation, what is your fear?”
I ask David what keeps people from talking about money. I use an example of when a husband racks of credit card charges but is afraid to tell his wife. He shows us how to use the CARE model in this case.
There is often a fear of loss.
We spend time talking about difficult conversations about race relations.
David shares his position as a privileged white male and what he has to do in order to have the race conversation.
It’s only in the past few weeks that David has been developing awareness about what goes on for blacks.
David is trying to understand his own whiteness, privilege, and unconscious bias.

Bob Doyle is the facilitator of the "Wealth Beyond Reason" program and one of the featured teachers in the film and book "The Secret". Since 2002, his primary focus has been on teaching the practical implementation of Law of Attraction principles, and moving people past the blocks that keep them from living a life of purpose, passion, and true abundance. He is also part of the new film 'How Thoughts Become Things.'
Highlights
Our inability to express ourselves creatively is at the root of a lot of our problems.
After many of his attempts at a career failed, Bob became interested in metaphysics and the Law of Attraction and came to understand how our thoughts affect our outer results.
The most important thing is to determine who you want to be in the vision you hold.
Bob shares the fascinating story of how he became the teacher he is today.
A lot came out from The Secret about the Law of Attraction that complicated things and confused people.
Feelings cause the vibration that leads to creation.
We have choices as to how we want to feel, but we don’t know it.
During an upset, get into the observer mode.
We talk about “The Universe” and your relation to it.
Bob talks about what he went through to learn about taking care of his business and money.
Start by deciding who you want to be for now.
Pay attention to where you aren’t satisfied.
It takes time to go from where you are to where you want to be.
If you want to use the Law of Attraction for solving problems it will keep you stuck in the problem.
Having the belief that everything has to be hard keeps you stuck.
The most important thing is for you to decide who you want to be.

How Thoughts Become Things – The movie
I read an article this week in Neuroscience News about how Repetitive Negative Thinking (RNT) can lead to cognitive decline and the buildup of proteins associated with Alzheimer’s. In this episode, I talk about how to eliminate negative self-talk and thinking with brain training in order to prevent loss of cognitive function.
Highlights
A lot of physical and mental problems that come with aging can be prevented.
Although the study cited in Neuroscience News was done with people 55 and older, no matter what your age, it’s important to prevent problems as you age.
Negative thinking patterns are habits. I talk about how they start as protective measures and because the way brains are wired.
Hypervigilance is a common result of difficult childhood experiences.
The trick is to recognize your patterns and make a commitment to changing them.
Start by recognizing when you use the word should. Then take a deep breath and use a positive statement such as You’re doing fine.
Lead with love.
You can create a benevolent mother or father in your mind who reparents you.
What if what we imagine is going to happen is what is going to happen.
Meditation can help you recognize what’s going on in your mind.
The more positive my thinking becomes, the more positive things happen for me.
If you stop being angry, that doesn’t mean you have to stop working for positive
sociental change.
Anger can be transmuted into a positive force.

If you practice deep diaphragmatic breathing, when you are in a difficult situation, the deep breathing will happen naturally.
If you have a lot of worrying thoughts, ask, “Do my thoughts produce something useful for me?”
Stress comes when you seem to be out of control.
People under stress don’t see their options.
When you feel you don’t have control, ask, “What can I do now?”
When we live in the past or future, we need to get back to the present.
The issues of those in higher positions have different kinds of problems to solve and they still have to manage their anxiety.
Good leaders have faith they can find answers to their problems.
Resilient people have a specific language they use. Tina gives us examples.
People get used to their comfort zone and have to learn to tolerate the uncertainty that comes with change.
Tina offers suggestions for dealing with uncertainty.
The challenge is living in a state of curiosity.
It’s important to understand why you can’t get instant results. Tina explains.
Meditation quiets the amygdala and builds new connections to the prefrontal cortex, which helps you make better decisions.
If you want to change anything in your life, you have to change yourself.
The secret lies not in what you are doing but in who you are being.

When you get an intuitive idea, you have to take action.
Success is doing what you love even when it’s hard.
We talk about the whole idea of thinking big.
Your net worth is not about money. What does your network value?
Your net worth does not equal your self-worth.
What we need more than motivation is momentum.
All habits become habits because they give us a return.
What “The Universe” means.
If you are in an expanding mode, you are being authentic.
We talk about what abundance is.

All of our characteristics are being magnified during COVID.
There are a lot of changes that are being made in business and personal lives.

For any one of a number of reasons, many children don’t get their needs met. As adults, this can translate into underearning, chronic dissatisfaction, or lack of accomplishment. In this episode, I share what I’ve learned after working with many people who have this issue.
Highlights
An issue I’ve seen play out with clients and the Intention + Action Coaching Group that I lead.
The situation doesn’t create the feeling, the feelings create the situation. I explain
I talk about the various situations where young children don’t get their needs met.
In the Intention + Action Coaching Group, we had a discussion about not getting your needs met and how it affects your ability to create financial wealth and related feelings.
During this period of time, it’s very easy to feel you aren’t getting your needs met.
How can you shift emotionally so you can perceive that your needs are being met?
Every individual situation is different.
This is the time to ask yourself, why do I need to get through this?
In order to get guided to your solution, it helps to get fear out of the way.
Thoughts, beliefs, and emotions are not separate. They are intertwined. And everyone’s combination of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions are different.
Everything in your outer world is a reflection of your inner world.
What’s going on now is the perfect opportunity for examining your inner world.

Loretta is the author of Habits of a Happy Brain and others. Her latest book is Tame Your Anxiety, which is all about the brain chemicals that cause uncomfortable feelings when you feel under threat – real or imagined. In this episode, she helps me understand an episode of financial fear I experienced, along with other topics.
Highlights
Loretta explains why she decided to write her newest book, Tame Your Anxiety.
Mental health is a skill that has to be developed.
We talk about how natural it is to compare yourself to others.
If what you’re doing doesn’t feel good, you can change your habits.
We build neural pathways from early experience, but you can build new neural pathways (thus new habits), but it’s more difficult as you grow older.
The urge to be special is universal.
Autopilot is natural because it forms in early childhood.
During early childhood and again during teenage years, patterns are set.
Loretta explains the difference between adrenaline and cortisol.
Cortisol lasts about an hour. It has a half-life of 20 minutes.
I share an experience I had where I felt a rush of financial fear and ask Loretta to explain it in terms of cortisol.
Children pick up the behaviors and emotions of their parents because of mirror neurons.
The goal when you have a cortisol response is to create an alternative pathway.
The idea is to take a step in a new direction immediately.
Loretta shares her 3-step processes for taming anxiety.
Fears are not necessarily logical or rational.
We talk about disappointment.
Loretta wants to talk about how to counteract the fear circuit, which she does in the part of the interview that posts next week.
Part 2 Highlights
Positive feelings come from the “happy” brain chemicals, which include dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins.
Dopamine is about the anticipation of reward. But it stops as soon as you get what you want. Then you keep going after what got you the dopamine hit.
Having big dreams gives you a dopamine hit as long as you see that the reward is possible. So, set small goals and continually reach them, and you can continually stimulate dopamine.
When people see their big dreams are out of reach, they switch to saving the world, which is a grandiose dream.
When saving the world is also out of reach, a person will become bitter, which puts them in a one-up position and this stimulates serotonin.
You have to applaud your small steps in order to release serotonin.
Focus on what you want in the moment.
Loretta talks about her social anxiety and feeling at risk of criticism – and how she overcame it.
You can train yourself to understand that other people are not going to fill your needs.
It’s not realistic to expect “the applause of the world.”
You have to tell yourself something realistic that you can get.
We talk about how people can divert their attention when they worry about money.
Ask, how can I feel better in a moment of stress?
The animal brain has confidence that it can solve problems.

I had another AHA moment recently that took my emotional understanding to a deeper level and I think a number of you will relate to what I discuss in this episode.
The understanding is about how the feeling of being an outsider, which starts in early childhood, affects many of our relationships as well as our business and financial outcomes.
Highlights
I review the idea that your emotions are the creative force behind your life stories.
When you feel like an outsider, you feel less connected and connection is what we, as humans, need.
Our culture has encouraged feelings of separateness and aloneness.
I share the moment I realized that I have a habit of feeling like an outsider, even though as an adult I’m not treated like one.
I examined where in my body, I felt the outsider feeling and I share what I found and how it affects when I’m with people.
The affirmation that came into my head was I honor and respect my uniqueness.
The idea is to try to remember how you felt as a child and how you were treated that caused you to withdraw internally.
If your real religious views vary from those of the members of your spiritual group, it can cause outsider feelings.
I talk about how debt has, on occasion, allowed me to maintain my position as an outsider.
Being an outsider is part of my identity, so I create life stories in order to maintain that identity.
In order to make and sustain a lot of money, it helps to feel connected.
If you feel like an outsider, it may not be true.
The feelings that go along with feeling like an outsider are aloneness, feeling separate.
I’m going to put together an accountability group. If this interests you in any way, email me at Joan@ProsperityPlace.com.

As an inspirational speaker, author, and coach, Victoria Price encourages each of us to co-create a Legacy of Love through a heart-centered practice. Along with writing her popular blog, Daily Practice of Joy, Victoria is the author of three books — including the recently published Living Love: 12 Heart-Centered Practices to Transform Your Life! In 2016, Victoria became a nomad. Now, over four years later, she remains “intentionally home-free” as her core heart-centered practice. She lives on the road with her beloved dog Allie.
Highlights
Victoria explains what led her to let go and give her things away and start living her nomadic life.
She explains how she had to listen to and trust her inner voice as she was led on her journey.
What we don’t know can lead us to solutions.
We are born programmed to love and we are taught not to listen to our hearts.
Victoria’s father was Vincent Price and her mother and step-mother were both well-known. There were a lot of conflicts and fear around money.
We talk about some of the downsides with celebrity and wealth and Victoria’s study of celebrity.
Celebrity asks you to become a persona, so we grow up idealizing emptiness.
Victoria explains how she realized she spent too much time in her head and developed a joy-centered practice that allows her to get connected to her heart.
She came to understand that joy meant the pure and simple delight of being alive and to do that, she had to remember what brought her joy as a child.
When you develop heart-centered habits, you are aligning with love.
I ask Victoria how she applies her practice to what’s going on in the world so she can maintain her joy and love.
Living in our heads instead of hearts is a cause of many of today’s societal problems.
What’s going on with the virus is a wake-up call for us to see how we have been out of inner alignment.
Victoria shares how her life and work is going to change because of the world situation and what she has to let go of.
We have to trust that there is a bigger picture – one where there is more equality. And to experience that equality many will have to give up things they think they need and are important.
We talk about some things that are going to have to change, including what we think is possible.
When we realize that we have enough, all this grabbing, and having, and needing has to shift.
Inequalities are coming to the surface and we are seeing the limit to what human ingenuity can do.

In this episode, I share some of my ideas about how to maintain a positive attitude about the future despite what’s going on. You have choices as to what you’re going to think about and how you’re going to feel.
Highlights
You can have empathy for what’s going on and still move forward with your life.
Each one of us has the opportunity to say, “Where am I now and where do I want to be in the future?” even though, at this moment, the future is so unknown.
The survival skill for today is to learn that you are ok today and you are learning what you need to learn..
If you can have a positive view of your future and get out of your fear of the present, you’ll have an easier time finding a pathway forward.
The bigger the mountain you have to climb, the more you have to have faith in your ability to get from where you are, to where you want to be.
If you can let go of the fear and have a positive view of the future, surviving what we are all going through will be a whole lot easier.
Talk to people and exchange ideas.
If you want to survive this thing, you have to believe that you can.
I feel as if we are in a space between where we are and where we are going.

She speaks internationally in several areas –resilience, radical self-care, harnessing the positive power of stress, and living your best life through self-compassion.
Highlights
Kristina debunks the idea that you have to love yourself before you can love someone else.
Even if a mother doesn’t bond well with a child, there are still ways to experience connection.
We talk about how a person can remove heart blocks to connecting.
Music is a way to help someone connect to their emotions.
It’s important for leaders to give energy to learning emotional intelligence.
We talk about the value of emotional intelligence.
Brain health and neuroplasticity work best when people have new challenges.
In order to change, a person has to have a definite internal motivation.
How you are at home reflects how you are in business and visa-versa.
Becoming aware of the physical effects of stress can act as a motivation for a behavioral change.
Repeating small changes is the best path to effective change.
I’m not good enough is one of the major strands to understanding why people behave the way they do.
It helps to be aware of where you learned to believe that you’re not good enough.
Long-term therapy can re-traumatize someone.

It’s as if the whole world is turning upside down as we go through this unprecedented period of our lives. It’s important to rise above the fear so you can see the opportunities that abound and take action in a new direction. It’s up to us to create the new normal.
Highlights
At a Zoom meeting I had recently, we all agreed that we aren’t going to go back to the old normal.
What are you going to do to plan a future without a model to work from?
It’s hard to come up with good ideas when you are in fear.
There are always ways of thinking outside of the box. There’s a problem if you’re afraid of technology.
Your brain is going to tell you that change is dangerous.
Think of a positive future. It’s time to let go of the things you really don’t like to do.
There are always options.
Allow your life to be a little more spontaneous.
I talk about the restaurant business and how they might change how they deliver their food.
The future is whatever you make it and you have the option of making new choices.
You may have to learn new skills.
What is a skill that you have that you can do differently while collaborating with other people?
During this time, learn something new.
This is the winter of the planet when things are dormant.

He is an evolutionary leader who pioneered the 4 Zones of Leadership framework. He uses neuroscience principles to hack leaders’ internal decision-making algorithms to enhance performance. He is highly skilled in emotional intelligence, energetic intelligence, and an expert in the science of intuitive intelligence.
Highlights
Steven tells us how he got to the place of believing in the power of our inner reality.
The gap between what is and what I think it is can be large.
Our collective consciousness can create the apparent reality.
Because our outer world is contracting, we now have the opportunity to examine our inner world.
Habits are invisible because they have disappeared from our awareness. The trick is to become aware of the habit. Steven explains how to do this.
We talk about what is triggering people to buy so much toilet paper.
There is an opportunity now to find balance between our inner and outer worlds.
Steven explains how to activate parts of you that have become numb.
Because families are spending so much time together now, there is opportunity to heal conflicts within family relationships.
I ask what can people do to stop focusing on what’s wrong so they can look for opportunities. Steven suggests asking, “What’s the gift in that”.
If you watch too much TV now, you can generate fear. If you ask, “What’s the gift in that?”, you can shift to looking at opportunities.
Letting go of the fear takes trust. When each of us can trust, it facilitates the evolution of the group.
Focusing on getting healthier can counteract some of the fear.
By consciously slowing down while doing everything, you will counteract some of the fear.
Steven practices radical self-love and creates communication between his internal masculine and feminine.
We are the only ones who know what each of us needs.
Meditation, walking outside, and nurturing yourself are helpful now. Also, ask yourself, “What’s important for me?”
Healthy desire gives us access to our intuitive selves.
Steven equates money with the energy of love.
We talk about connection and how to create it now.
It’s a gift now to open ourselves to receive.

Today I talk about what's happening with the coronavirus, how it might affect your business and how you can deal with it from the inside out. I recorded this episode on March 3, so I only had the amount of information that was available on that day. I have a feeling that things are going to get worse by the time this posts on March 6.
I think it’s important to look at the facts and the possibilities and to do our best to rise above the fear that’s being generated.
In this episode I discuss how to overcome your fear and concerns, and focus on taking the action that you can. I also mentioned that during any downturn, people succeed. The trick is to be open and listen to your inner guidance.
Use whatever techniques you know to deal with the possible stress because it is stress that affects your immune system and causes inflammation. I make some suggestions.

We need curiosity to survive, to see what lies beyond.
In doing research, she couldn’t find information about why curiosity declines after age 5.
Four areas that affect levels of curiosity. FATE stands for Fear, Assumption, Technology, Environment.
Sometimes our natural inclinations are shut down.

It’s important to recognize your fear.
As an entrepreneur, what’s holding you back from being more curious?

In today’s episode I talk about synchronicity, often called meaningful coincidences, plus how to experience more synchronicity and what prevents its occurrence. The main problem is fear and I discuss how to tamp this down.
Highlights
I give some examples of synchronicity and my ongoing question of how we can increase synchronicity happening for us.
Fear is one of the things that keeps you from experiencing synchronicity because when you are fearful, you are usually making up a story in the future that doesn’t exist.
Fear of an immediate danger is different from fear of the future.
If you want more of what you want to show up, you need to control your fear.
Mindfulness or meditation can help you focus on the present.
I share simple meditation techniques for staying focused on the present.
People often talk about accepting what’s happening but don’t think about it in terms of our greater reality.
I ask if peace on earth is possible within our dualistic reality.
In your quiet moment, you can ask if there is something you can do to ameliorate what’s happening.
How can you contribute to solutions?
By letting go of fear, you can contribute to solutions.
Fear blocks creative forces and keeps us in a stagnant place.
I also believe that you need to understand how traumatic childhood experiences are affecting your outcomes.
You have to make a decision to work through your fear

The feeling of powerless seems to be spreading as it gets harder to get what we want from companies we have to deal with. In this episode, I talk about some experiences I’ve had that you’ll probably relate to and offer suggestions for taking back your personal power.
Highlights
The online courses platform I was using changed their pricing model, which would have more than doubled my cost. So I found a better solution that will save me money.
You can make decisions that can help you get what you want.
If more people make conscious buying decisions, it will affect change.
Feeling powerless starts when you are a child.
Stop people-pleasing, which only hurts you.
If one of us has to be uncomfortable, it doesn’t have to be me. The corollary to this is, “No is a complete sentence.”
If you aren’t honest with other people, you can’t be honest with yourself.
Do a search for alternatives to whatever software you are using.
Examine your options.
You don’t have to be stuck with what you have.
Value yourself. You really matter.
When you feel you have more control over your life, you will feel empowered.
If you feel powerless, think back to your childhood to times when you felt powerless.
You aren’t a victim. You get to make choices that make you more comfortable.
You always have options.
When you feel powerless, instead of fighting back, ask yourself how you can be an agent of change.
If you make decisions that are right for you, you’ll feel more powerful.

Todd Maddox, Ph.D. has doctorates in Psychology and Neuroscience and studies the brain basis of learning, memory, and performance. He is interested in the interplay between emotion, cognition, and behavior. In this episode, we have an interesting discussion about dopamine, addiction, the money and sex connection, and more.
Highlights
Todd tells how he got into the combination of psychology and neuroscience.
The answer to every psychological problem lies in the brain.
To deal with addiction, willpower is not the answer. Understanding the brain helps.
We talk a lot about dopamine and addiction.
Behaviors can be influenced by genetics. Behavioral genetics tries to determine the percentage of specific behaviors that can be inherited.
Todd explains why recognizing habits is so difficult.
We talk about how money and sex are connected.
By pairing a memory of when you were satisfied with an experience of dissatisfaction, you can train your brain to have a more positive response.
We talk about the neuroscience explanation of the moving stupids.
In science, the more you know, the more you don’t know.
The more that we learn, the more we’ll be able to understand things, like mysticism, that we don’t understand now.
Todd shares his views about Artificial Intelligence and how to make it closer to how the brain works

For years, I’ve seen the connection between money and sex. These are two topics that people think about most, but don’t talk about them. In this episode, I examine this connection as well as the role that both dopamine and emotions play in our relationship with money and sex.
Highlights
Both money and sex are about how we use our personal energy to interact with the outside world. It’s all about energy flow.
Understanding how your brain works helps you understand why you do what you do and how to make better choices.
In our culture – in the US and some other countries – there is a lot of sexual repression and dysfunction.
I talk about dopamine and how it motivates us.
Dopamine is part of our survival instinct.
Anticipating getting more money causes a release of dopamine.
I talk about how dopamine and disappointment are connected.
Understanding how dopamine works can help you set more realistic expectations and avoid disappointment.
Advertisers understand that they have to stimulate your dopamine in order to stimulate your desire for their product.
You can learn to tame your dopamine response and make pleasure part of conscious living.

Dan Mendilow is an entrepreneurial neuropsychologist who helps service-based business owners breakthrough income plateaus while working less by rewiring their brains. In this episode, we have a free-flowing conversation about brain science and spirituality.
Highlights
Dan had a tough beginning – an immigrant kid who was born depressed and bullied through school. He shares his story.
When he became suicidal, he realized he had to do something else, which led him on a 13-year search around the world until one day, the depression lifted.
The more he learned about the brain, the more he could help people find out who they are and rewire their brains.
We really don’t know what the mind really is and where it comes from.
We talk about quantum physics and how who we really are goes beyond the measurable science.
Spiritual experiences are a side science we just don’t understand yet.
When we meet someone we are seeing them through our own protective structure. If we could see them deeply, we would see love.
What we are looking for is connection, touch, and to be seen.
Dan explains how he listens to others without his own filters.
When working with clients, he teaches them how to take down their walls, by rewiring their brains. He talks about the techniques he uses.
The longer we live the closer science and spirituality come together.

Highlights
I talk about when I reached my moment of stillness in August and how I now really feel free.
When we understand how our brain works, we can understand why we make the decisions we do.
Are you willing to pursue the feeling of freedom? It does take work.
What would your life look like if you really feel free?
If you feel trapped, you need to recognize the feeling of trapped and related feelings such as longing and disappointment
Start by becoming aware of when you feel contracted. Also, recognize what you are thinking about when you feel contracted.
You’ll be learning how to transmute the contracted feeling into expansion.
You can train your brain and change habits.

Real courage is something you can feel inside of you.
People can hear and see courage.
Conscious courage is a choice and is the bridge between fear and love.
Intuition comes with courage. You have to be willing to step into the unknown.
Our busy mind keeps us from clearly hearing our inner voice. You have to develop listening to your intuition.
When something isn’t working, ask yourself, “What is it inside of me that’s allowing things to show up the way they are?”
When you shift into a place where you understand that everything in your life is for your benefit, you can get to a better place.
Being self-reflective is part of taking responsibility for your life.
Ken talks about his book, The Courage to Change Everything.
A while back, Ken realized that he needed to do something to live a life of freedom and let go of all of his things.
The mind is the cause of both our bondage and our freedom.
You have to feel the pain in order to make the change.
We need to get to a place of peace in order to evolve. It means healing physically, emotionally, and spiritually in order to evolve.

Keri Norley was brought up wealthy and explains what she had to overcome to find herself. She is known as ‘The Wealth Alchemist’ and is an international wealth and soul-alignment coach, mentor, speaker, and author of the book “How to Use Feng Shui to Create Business Abundance”. Keri plays in the quantum realms to help people release the stories that are keeping them stuck.
Highlights
People have beliefs that keep them from creating wealth.
Being brought up in a wealthy family created a wealth habit for Keri at an early age.
Although she had a wealth habit, Keri wondered why her business wasn’t doing well.
People tend to believe that wealthy people are happy. Keri discusses why this isn’t necessarily true.
The money was easy for her, but the humanity part was a lot harder.
Even wealthy people have a hard time talking about money.
The stories we all have to share is what makes us who we are.
Wealth is more than just money. It’s a state of being.
In the quantum realm, there is no time.
Whatever a person is experiencing today is the result of what they believed in the past.
Gratitude allows one to see deeper into who they are.
Everything on our path gives us the opportunity to learn and advance.
We can choose who we want to be.
Lack of worthiness and deservingness holds people back.
By not owning every piece of ourselves then we can’t embody our purpose.
See what swims towards you.

Julie Renee: An Effective Method of Quantum Activation for Healing
In the last episode, I talked about giving up sugar. Today I want to give you some real practical tips to help you on that journey. I'd like to mention that most of the articles I've seen online about withdrawing from sugar are geared towards people who want to give it up suddenly, to just cold turkey.
My experience was that cold turkey caused other problems. I had been a sugar junkie for a really long time. When I was working, I was doing three Cokes a day and cookies & desserts for lunch! I mean, that was all and I had been eating sugar all of my life. And when the doctor told me to stop eating sugar if I wanted to stop being depressed, I did it practically overnight! And the results were that the depression went away.
But I wound up with a lot of other problems, although it wasn't only due to the sugar withdrawal. I just want to make it clear that if you've been eating a lot of sugar over a long period of time, you might want to consider a slow withdrawal before cold turkey. I did the same thing with cigarettes.
I had only been smoking about half a pack a day. And I cut down to where I was just having two or three cigarettes a day. Then I stopped. It's like when I was addicted to Valium, I had to do it slowly. And there are all sorts of groups online helping people withdraw from that drug, which is very hard to withdraw from, and they're doing it over a really long period of time.
Sometimes you have to adjust to a new way for your body to adjust. If you're in your 20s or 30s, then it might be a little easier to cold turkey. I was in my 30s when I quit cold turkey, and I had a lot of problems. So I just want to put that out and have you consider following your intuition.
If your intuition tells you not to do it suddenly, then do it slowly. As I suggested last time, by reading labels on your food, you get to see how much sugar you're actually eating. And when you do that, you can measure out the number of tablespoons of sugar because there are 12.5 grams of sugar per tablespoon. When you see 39 grams on a can of Coke, then you're going to have to measure out three tablespoons. I didn't do the exact math because two tablespoons, which is an ounce, would be about 25 grams.
I did this with a young boy one time where he was having trouble in school. I think he was in the eighth or tenth grade at the time. He was depressed and wasn't doing his schoolwork and his mother was having a lot of discipline problems with him. I was staying in their house and it was during my journey of withdrawing from sugar. So I measured out the sugar he was eating on a daily basis, and it turned out to be like half a cup of sugar every day. That's a lot of sugar your body has to deal with, yet it's not designed to deal with that much sugar!
Other Ways of Withdrawing from Sugar
So what are some of the other things you can do to help you in withdrawing from sugar other than doing it slowly?
I've found out that with both sugar and smoking, natural licorice root sticks, not licorice, actually help. However, you shouldn't stay on it to long because it will affect your kidneys.
Licorice root sticks are sweet and taste like licorice. They have a sweet flavor and happen to be good for your adrenal glands. When you eat a lot of sugar, your adrenal glands become compromised. That's why you would need sugar to get an energy kick because your adrenal glands are hurting.
One of the reasons why people keep going back to sugar is that like drugs, it causes a dopamine response. Dopamine is the pleasure molecule. And because it feels good to eat sugar, you're going to keep going back to it and you're going to build up a tolerance where you need more and more to get the same kick. And so licorice root sticks can help a lot with that.
The other thing I did in the beginning, which was very helpful, was that I would smell the foods that I didn't want to eat ...
I recently got a message via Facebook from a woman who has been struggling for a long time to withdraw from sugar. Because I gave up – really gave up – sugar 46 years ago, I know how to sustain what might be called sugar sobriety. I offer some of what I learned along the way.
Highlights
Giving up sugar is a lot more complicated than just not eating sugar.
Finally, people are realizing that sugar is not healthy.
In 1973, I saw a documentary on hypoglycemia and knew immediately that was part of my problem.
I talk about how I found out I had hypoglycemia and the doctor who helped me.
Most chronic diseases are caused by inflammation. Sugar causes inflammation.
I mention a number of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as how the endocrine system is affected.
Sugar is harder to give up than heroin.
You have to make a decision to give up sugar first and then start reading the labels on your food.
You have to be off sugar, alcohol, and carbohydrates for quite a while before you can sustain the withdrawal.
I list some of the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

As we approach the end of this year and the beginning of 2020, it’s a good idea to adjust your attitude, if necessary. In this episode I talk about how adopting a positive attitude towards your future can help to create that future.
Highlights
Your attitude towards yourself and the world around you affects your outcomes.
Believe in yourself and believe in possibilities.
It takes time for your ideas to come into fruition.
When you give yourself more time, you’re giving yourself space to make better decisions.
When things don’t work out, it isn’t a failure. It’s just an outcome.
Are you willing to believe that whatever you’re doing is ok?
What’s going on inside of you affects your outcomes.
Whatever you believe is true is true.
You might want to adjust your attitude towards yourself and the world around you.
You have a choice about how you want to think about things.
I talk about an attitude of detachment.
An attitude of love and understanding would change our society.
During the holidays, you have the choice to develop an attitude of peace.
