Enjoy this eye-opening episode where our Global CEO, Christina Foxwell joins our Managing Director of Canada, Chrissy Cordingley, to share recent research published on how connection drives performance and profits. Gallup recently released their State of the Global Workplace: 2023 Report, which shares this statistic:

Only 23% of employees across the world would consider themselves to be thriving at work. Most people, 59%, believe they are already quietly quitting. And 18% are loudly quitting. The reason? According to this study, the number one reason employees are quiet quitting is a lack of engagement and positive culture.Divide and conquer is no longer an effective strategy for the boardroom; the future is about becoming BETTER TOGETHER.

Welcome to: Ignite Purpose with Christina -, I am your host, Christina Foxwell, and this Season we will focus on Lessons from the Glass Angle, Being better together.
The purpose of this podcast is to support you with stories and tools to lean into your healing and transformation, to help you step from Surviving into Thriving. Only you can do it.
What is Alchemy? It’s the magical process of transformation. It’s when we can transform our mind, we can transform our story, and we can transform how we show up to live our potential.
The gift of Alchemy can be summed up in a few ways:
1.You are precious, and your essence is beautiful. The only way to unlock it is to go through a process of refinement and love
2.You need to start in yourself to be the change in your world
3.Love is the key; it’s not the love you give others; it’s the love you give yourself first.
Why not explore with me as I share how I have healed and transformed so that you can do it also?
What I have learnt is the only way to re-write my story is to:
1.Remember I am worthy of love; I am good enough
2.My story is in the past, and I am today able to be safe to look at my shame and retell my story
3.Only when I look at my shame and understand my fear can I start to untangle the roots that keep my story locked in a cycle of repeat.
What’s next? Why not start a reflection journal for yourself? Why not start remembering who you are and start listing all the beauty you bring to the world? The things about you that you love most.
Get a copy of My new Book: The Glass Angel, to see how I use alchemy tools daily—launching on the 18th of October 2022.

Welcome to: Ignite Purpose with Christina -, I am your host Christina Foxwell and in this Season we are going to Lessons from the Glass Angel, Being better together.
This episode is called – Unlocking compassion
The purpose of this podcast is to support you with stories and tools to lean into your healing and transformation, to help you step from Surviving into Thriving. Only you can do it.
This week let’s explore how to UNLOCK Compassion? What is Compassion and WHY is it so needed in our lives?
Let’s first define compassion
What is compassion?
It’s a place of feeling deeply with others, a place of holding space for someone when they are going through difficult times (Ups and Downs).
Compassion allows us to connect with others (Hear, see and value them). In compassion we can heal in our relationships, move forward with wisdom and a since of inner peace.
Compassion is not just feeling with others it also includes a desire to help others be free from suffering, there is a real desire to help.
Compassion is a form of LOVE.
What is the impact of a lack of compassion?
Firstly, we need to understand what creates a lack of compassion in our own lives:
1. It’s when we have had to toughen up in our world, so we expect other to do the same
2. We are incredibly hard on ourselves and therefore we are just as hard on others
3. When we are stressed, we can come from a place of armour and a need to fight, fly or freeze – very emotionally disconnected places
4. When we are Burnt-out we just don’t have the energy to work with someone else’s challenges
5. Or maybe we have not had the opportunity to develop our emotional intelligence and there for have lower empathy. If we have low empathy Low empathy… it can look like:
a. Being hard and judgmental on others
b. Can’t lead ourselves and our emotions regularly are out of control
c. We ignore or are oblivious to the feelings of others
d. They get frustrated by the emotions in others
e. They can’t admit their accountability or wrongdoing
Ok so finally I am going to simply call it out, if we have had to have a lack of compassion for ourselves (to survive in our world) and have sat in judgment on our life, our decision and our story, we are less likely to want to connect deeply with others and show great compassion. Our Compassion tank is EMPTY!
Here is how it impacts our world:
1. We won’t be able to accept things because we could see acceptance as giving up on our perspective of being RIGHT!
2. We will need to PROVE our worth and our own measure because that EMPTY tank we carry around inside feels hollow and drives us forward
3. We will struggle in our relationships with each other as a failure to meet our standards might mean danger to us and encourage our JUDGE to take over and disconnect from others. This means a lack of forgiveness and the ability to move our relationship forward
4. We struggle in work partnerships because we expect our peers to be like us, to know what we do and to show us they are credible. We forget that everyone is human and that we are learning together.
5. We struggle to sit in discomfort with others, truly listen and connect deeply. We see discomfort as weakness and want to control or avoid these moments with logic and judgment.
6. We mostly don’t know how to show ourselves the compassion needed to simply be who we are without our armour, imperfect and beautifully human.
In summary, if we don’t have compassion we create a world of separation, loneliness and continued cycles of trauma and fear. We create a world where we are not better together. We are called to together as a human race in this time. So, it has to start with fostering compassion, which starts inside each of us.
So as part of an alchemy practice that is without doubt critical it’s the ability to develop a peaceful mind, foster an open heart through self-love and compassion. Maybe the most important is to realise we are Simply HUMANS being together.

During this book launch, you will hear from Christina about her journey, WHY she wrote this book and how it can help people lead a more fulfilled life. One that is better with others because we are better in ourselves.
Christina is a Performance and Transformation coach based in Sydney, Australia. She runs a successful performance improvement practice called Ignite Purpose, where she helps leaders and their people be better together. Over the last 10 years she has recognised it's not what we know that help us lead, love and live our best life, it's who we are!

Here is more about WHY the Glass Angel:
The Glass Angel details the years I lived under the weight of unfounded and incredibly harmful notions based on my story. This book is part memoir, part metaphor, part inspirational how-to for anyone who has ever felt like the world was against them. In it, I share my journey from the darkest moments of my life to finding myself, learning to forgive the past, seeking light and clarity, and letting these lead the way forward.
My story will open your eyes and mind to what's possible. It proves that even when you are at your absolute lowest, and you fear you'll never find your way out of despair, shame, or a lifetime of guilt, there is hope on the other side.
While there are many reasons for me to feel sorry for myself, yet I chose another path - one that helped me heal from the trauma and discover who I am and what I need to do to feel comfortable in my skin and heal from all the things that weighed me down for years. I found a path forward. I made a pact with myself to stop living the life of a 'broken angel' and embrace what I call my alchemy. That's how this book came to be. It's my way of helping others who've known pain and make it to the other side.
I am giving readers permission to survive and thrive by igniting their own alchemy and using it to transform their lives from the inside out. We can only lead, love, and live a fulfilled life when we are healed.

Anthony shares his wisdom on how he has achieved his dreams, and how you can achieve your dreams too. A few things that stand out is... I see possibilities in ME! I live in today and not in missed expectations of my past.... The poem that inspired him was Edgar A Guest...

"Courage must come from the soul within

The man must furnish the will to win

So figure it out for yourself my lad,

You were born with all that the great have had,

With you equipment they all began,

Get hold of yourself, and say: "I CAN".

Imagine a lifetime of fearing that you are imperfect? There are so many of us that live with that mental pain and strain of not being perfect, not being able to show weakness and not being able to be who we really are. What does this do? It becomes our self-imposed prison. One of our "mind" that keeps us from what we really need, peacefulness and freedom.

Anel is a team member at Ignite Purpose and bravely shares her journey over the last 18 months, and how she has transformed her mental fitness to now be able to heal, be more peaceful, feel joy and forgive and release fear and shame that held her captive. Anel and Christina have been friends for 30 years and this heartfelt chat is one we hope will inspire you to be who you really are, to unlock your prison of fear and judgment and allow freedom. It is a journey of imperfection and one we gratefully walk.

What a fantastic interview with Gethin Fisher, the founder and creator of the QPOD and the Quiet Community. The QPOD is the way of the future for organisations and communities to encourage people to take time out, be quiet, recharge and plug back into the busy lives we lead.

In this New Season of Ignite Purpose with Christina Foxwell, Mental Fitness, performance and growth, we deep dive into WHY Gethin came up with this idea and how he has brought life to his purpose and passion for making a difference in people's lives! What we know about meditation and mindfulness is that it allows our brain to focus on the present, and it supports clarity of mind. This, as we all know, increases our performance.

The QPOD will encourage a change in cultures of organisations where people will be able to block time out to recharge and switch off. Don't miss this warm and open discussion on the birth of the journey. As you all know, it takes courage to stand and be seen, and I am so grateful Gethin has decided to make a difference, live his purpose and make a change to do something that will positively impact the lives of so many!
