Aaron Williams is a Franklin, Tennessee-based artist, songwriter, and founder of The Way of Worship, an organization helping train and mentor worship leaders from all over the United States.

Born into a musical family, Williams is no stranger to family gatherings turning into full-band jam sessions. Having come to Christ in a time of worship, he discovered that his passion for music and his new-found love for Jesus could collide in writing worship songs.

He began songwriting and traveling with his band in high school, and touring became his life during college. All the while, he remained faithfully serving in his local church. After going through a period of discouragement, Williams almost quit songwriting altogether, but God had other plans and used that season to refine his calling and craft around songwriting.

In the years that followed, he began to find his own voice as a writer and the songs that have emerged have been a blessing to the Church ever since.

One of the outstanding songs that were birthed from this season is “Abide,” a worship anthem that has been resonating with many church communities, bringing it to chart at #58 in CCLI in late 2024.

Williams is passionate about helping people discover and develop an abiding relationship with Jesus. With his organization, The Way of Worship, whether it is through thoughtful songwriting, intentional investment in others, or heartfelt worship leading, his aim is the same: to creatively lead people to know and love Jesus with heart, soul, mind, and strength.

His ministry’s greatest aim and dream is to see a generation of Jesus followers whose focus is to make the Lord increasingly famous during an age of obsession for personal fame. His songs are an attempt to trailblaze this reality here and now.

Williams recently signed as a songwriter and artist with Integrity Music in the continued pursuit of his purpose. He is married to Mallory with whom he shares three wonderful boys.

Born in New York, raised in South Florida, and later moving to Australia at 18 to study worship and theology, I began a journey that shaped both my faith and creativity. It was there that I met my wife, J, and also discovered a love for aesthetics. For a long time, I never considered myself creative until I realized I simply saw and processed things differently than most people around me.

Music had always been part of my life, but in my late teens I came to understand that what I really loved was art in all its forms. Whether seeing it, hearing it, or creating it, I was drawn to beauty and meaning expressed through creativity.

Today, I create primarily for my local church Christ Fellowship Church in South Florida where I help shape worship experiences both visually and musically. That ranges from dreaming up new series concepts and producing creative video moments in services, to songwriting and developing the sound of worship for our community.

As a songwriter with MVMNT Music, the worship expression of Christ Fellowship, my heart is to write songs that give voice to the church songs that carry both the raw honesty of personal encounter with God and the shared language of corporate worship. For me, songwriting isn’t just about crafting melodies and lyrics; it’s about helping people encounter God’s presence, express their faith, and be reminded of His truth.

Ultimately, my hope is that every project I touch whether a song, a service, or a creative concept leads people closer to Jesus and reflects the beauty of His kingdom.

Equally at home in the Prayer Room and penning her own blend of pop/soul/worship songs, Steph ministers from a place of freedom, intimacy, and authority grounded in her identity as a beloved daughter of the Most High King.

Rooted in John 10:10 and 2 Corinthians 3:16-18, her particular message revolves around calling the lukewarm believer into the passionate, abundant, gloriously surrendered life Jesus always meant for those He loves. She’s quick to callout her own hypocrisy first, and uses her disarming vulnerability, knowledge of the Word, and colorful melodies to invite the listener to do the same.

Her latest album, Dare to Behold,, invites the listener to identify and wrestle against sin, turn from the things of this world, and chase boldly after Jesus. She prays these songs would call all lukewarm believers into the passionate, abundant, gloriously surrendered life Jesus always meant for those He loves... because there’s too little time to be half-hearted and half-asleep.

Keep up with Steph at https://stephandrews.com/

We've been partnering in cross-Atlantic ministry with Jill and Andrew Mitchell for over 20 years. In this episode, we sit down to discuss their adventure in ministry with many highs and many lows. But God has been faithful throughout. We talk about the value of leading with a culture of honor, what it means to walk in faith, and moving from transactional to relational ministry. We cover a range of topics, but throughout it all, notice all of the laughter and joy we have in being together on one of our many "Mitchoff visits" together - this time, in Tennessee.

Rebekah White Williams joins us on the podcast to talk about the stories behind the writing of the songs MAKE ROOM and REST ON US.

Learn more about working with Rebekah for songwriter coaching and song critiques.

We are thrilled to welcome professional songwriter Rebekah White Williams (Make Room, Rest On Us) to the WW family as songwriter coach.

Rebekah White is a Nashville-based songwriter who discovered her passion for music at a young age. As a young woman, she regularly led worship in her church and in 2002 she ventured beyond the church’s walls and landed a job on tour working for the multi-platinum, alt-rock group Green Day.

This experience opened doors for Rebekah and before she knew it, she was working with artists like Justin Timberlake and Fergie. After the arrival of her son in 2012, Rebekah stepped away from her artist career and jumped into songwriting full-time.

Two of her most beloved songs she’s co-written, “Make Room” and “Rest on Us” have been recorded by multiple worship leaders and movements such as Maverick City Music, Brandon Lake, UpperRoom, Vertical Worship, and more!

Both songs are currently in the Top 50 per CCLI’s active SongSelect charts and collectively account for millions of streams between releases.

Vince Wilcox has enjoyed a lifetime of rich experiences as music industry professional, attorney, educator, and author.

Starting in the warehouse of Nashville’s Benson Records in 1979, Vince rose through the ranks to eventually become vice president of marketing before resigning in 1991 to write and tour as an artist for five years. Along the way, he recorded three albums, had dozens of songs published, and was executive producer for 70 projects—including a Dove Award-winning album. His artistic collaboration with Don Pardoe earned them four #1 Christian Country singles and the industry’s Horizon Award for Best New Artist in 1997.

In the late ’90s, Vince returned to the corporate setting as vice president of BMG’s Provident Music Distribution, overseeing sales for such artists as Jars of Clay, Michael W. Smith, Fred Hammond, and Third Day. In 2001, he left Provident to form VanLiere-Wilcox Artist Management, co-managing NewSong, Todd Agnew, comedian John Morgan, and the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular. Later that decade, he entered law school to become an entertainment attorney. While in law school, he served in the Office of the Public Defender for the 21st Judicial District in Tennessee.

After graduating from law school and earning admission to the Tennessee Bar, he became general manager of Belden Street Music Publishing and Discover Worship, an online music service for choir directors and worship leaders. After teaching part-time in the Skinner School of Business & Technology at Trevecca Nazarene University for four years, Vince was promoted to assistant professor and full-time director of the Music Business program in the fall of 2020.

Vince holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies (Distinguished Major) from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science in Education (Guidance & Counseling) from Old Dominion University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law.

His recent book, How to Make a Living in the Music Business, joins self-published devotional studies on the Gospel of Mark and the Lord's Prayer. Vince lives with his wife and extended family in Franklin, Tennessee, with their beloved dogs.

We're delighted to be joined by songwriter and worship leader, Sharon Byrd (Kingsway Worship) as guest host for this episode.

And, on today's episode, we share an interview from our Writing Club with Jaime Jamgochian.

Sitting down to talk with Jaime, you quickly realize she is a woman of faith who God is using in many different ways through her music and message. It’s immediately evident she has a passion to see people know how much God loves them and a desire to see that reality change their lives—because it has changed hers.Jaime came to know the Lord at 21 while studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. God completely changed her life and it is her greatest desire to see people encounter Jesus in a real way.

From Boston, Jaime ended up in Seattle where she was a worship leader for several years and began writing her own worship songs. It was during that time in Seattle that Jaime signed with Centricity Records and went on to record 3 albums with them. She then moved to Nashville, TN which she still calls home, and continues to travel throughout the US and internationally leading people in worship, singing songs of hope, and sharing a message of finding your value and purpose in Christ.

Worship is breathing.

Worship is living a life in communion with God every minute of every day. We were created for intimacy with the Father, just to Be with him. We are surrounded by a culture that is driven by productivity, but Chris and Summer Shealy of Shealy Worship want to raise up a generation of worshippers who desire more than anything else to just BE with Jesus. It’s out of this place of being that everything else flows.

If this resonates with you, you will be inspired and encouraged by this conversation on today’s podcast.

Kevin Winebarger dedicates his life to helping Christian artists grow: spiritually, musically, and in ministry. He and his wife, Jessica, run Courage Studios out of Charlotte, NC, and serve clients all over the world.

Many artists have bigger dreams than their discipline and bigger callings than their clarity on how to get there. Kevin leads his clients through an intentional, individualized process by helping them clarify their artistic endeavors and desires and what God’s put in their hearts.

He helps artists in 3 main ways...

1) Branding & Refining their artistry and setting them up with cowrites that elevate and focus their artistic communication.

2) Producing music with them that's exactly on target with who they are and what they’re looking to share (with musical honesty and authenticity is top priority).

3) Empowering them with doable, practical tasks and a game plan to grow their artistry and to steward their audience - through excellent marketing.

Kevin is an inspiring person to talk to.  We can't recommend him enough!

In today’s episode, we talk about what it means to use our gifts for the Lord and how often, the journey in doing so can look very different than how we thought it would. Waiting, lack of opportunity, and even seasons of wounding can all feel like major setbacks in getting to where we think we need to go. But what if God is still working in the process (despite the pain)...not to crush us but to form us into who He’s calling us to be? Join us today as we dive into this important discussion! Also in this episode…

  • Examples of God using “process” throughout the Bible (David, Moses, Joseph, etc)
  • God’s protection in the secret place (how waiting may actually be His kindness in preparing you for what’s to come)
  • Learning to rest even when the outcome is different than you had expected

As part of a research paper she wrote for her school in Canada, Anneli Loepp Thiessen uncovered some interesting results on the top of women in worship music.

The results showed that women have actually had less influence on the writing of today's worship songs than they did in the 1980s and 1990s.

We gathered a group of women together to discuss this in a panel format together with Anneli.  First, Krissy interviews the researcher and then there are questions and commentary from our panel of female songwriters.

I wanted to share with you my heart for the writing side of things this year with Brave Worship. As many of you have probably seen. I launched a course last year called The Worship Songwriter Mentorship. The purpose for the course was actually birthed out of Brave Worship - out of a need for creating a foundation for us to all have in common as we come together to write. I think that's so important.

So much so, that I want to use the course as our foundation moving forward with Brave Worship songwriters. So, this year we're going to be relaunching the course. The new course is now live and we’ll be starting group small groups the week of February 16th. We would love to have you be a part of it. If you're able to take the course and small group, then you will have some other opportunities…

This year, on April 26, we're going to be doing a Brave Worship Writing Day. Those that have completed the course will be invited to come in and take part in that day together. And, we're intentionally establishing a songwriting community.

And, then later this year, we are going to be doing a Songwriting Missions Trip to Ireland with Ray Hughes. That will be September 13th through the 23rd. In order to go on that trip, you're going to need to have taken this course. Not only just for writing purposes, which is part of it, but we're also going to be taking the course to local worship pastors and writers there. We’re going to need some facilitators to be teaching it.

So, I hope all of this sounds good to you. I can't wait to do more with you this year as songwriters.

For twenty years, Ohio native, Matt Hammitt, was the lead singer and songwriter for Dove Award-winning two time Grammy-nominated band Sanctus Real. During that time, the band released eight albums under Sparrow Records, toured internationally and released 14 Top 5 and #1 singles to Christian radio, making the band a household name among Christian music fans worldwide.Authored by Matt, Sanctus Real's most recognized hit, “Lead Me,” has resonated with men, women, and families all over the world. However, what most people don't recognize, is the great irony behind the song itself. "Lead Me," the very song that catapulted the band to the heights of their success, was also the song that would play a major part in Matt's twenty-year career as their front-man coming to an end. As crowds of thousands echoed the words "Don't want to leave them hungry for love, chasing things that I could give up" Matt was deeply convicted that it was time for him to start singing those words less and living them more. Matt made the difficult decision to step away from the band. In February, 2016, Matt played his final show with Sanctus Real.

The emotions behind Matt's decision to leave his former band is penned into the opening track of his self-titled album, "Heaven Knows." Throughout the album, Matt takes on the difficulties of stepping out of a familiar and comfortable place to follow Jesus, who often calls us to do difficult things for our ultimate good. Blind trust, or simply put, faith, is a thread that's woven throughout all ten tracks of Matt's new album.

Matt has been married to his wife Sarah for sixteen years, and together they have four children. Birthed from his own struggles, one of Matt's greatest passions has become ministering to broken families. In 2010, Matt's son, Bowen, was born with a rare and severe heart disease. Through the pain of caring for a sick child, Matt and Sarah faced some very difficult years of marriage. Out of their experience, Matt and Sarah, started two organizations that mister to families today. Whole Hearts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial, emotional and spiritual support for families of children living with pediatric heart disease. In 2016, Matt and Sarah also launched "Lead Me Live" men's conferences, aimed at encouraging and equipping men to become great spiritual leaders in their home.

In 2016, Matt partnered with Full Circle Music and producer Seth Mosley to begin work on a new album which is slated to release in November 2017. “Tears”, the first radio single, broke into the Billboard Christian Airplay Top 50 chart within two weeks of its debut. His current single, “He Always Wins” is a worship anthem that is quickly being sung in churches around the globe. Additionally, Matt is writing a book about the themes of Lead Me and will release in late 2018.
