Haggai 2:15-19 "And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD: Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you."

There is no doubt Haggai is prophesying of a coming day. He is revealing details that coincide with the fall of Babylon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ. This earthquake takes place in conjunction with God’s remembrance of Babylon. We, as Christians, desire God to remember us, but for Babylon, this will not be a pleasant experience.

This audio will not be a self-help pep talk but rather an honest conversation regarding personal development. Have you considered how you will provide an intellectual foundation for your personal development? Or have you decided to drift through life disengaged and unprepared to provide an answer for the hope that is within you? In today’s landscape, education generally derives from one of two sources. First is that of the secular landscape, an area filled with landmines. Secular education is overwhelmingly activist and ungodly. If your Christian child is attending a secular university, I am inclined to accuse you of parental malpractice and maybe even child abuse in some cases. This idea is not hyperbole but objectively driven, and most Christian parents knew this beforehand. However, let me now say you are warned yet again. The only narrow exception to this is studies in Mathematics or the Sciences. However, even their students will be subject to atheistic Darwinian evolutionists professors, which is far different from the woke activists that dominate every other area of study.

Americans once enjoyed great individual freedom from both a government and a social perspective. Neither has been perfect, but perfect is in the eye of the beholder. The government did well throughout much of American history to leave its citizens alone. Likewise, the social constraints to which Americans have been subject over time have lacked any form of totalitarian control. That fact has changed drastically in recent years, but until the era of Covid, we have enjoyed much leeway in our ability to function socially in America.
The recent shift in social trends began roughly in the 1990s. During this period, the freedoms we experienced were detached from any sense of personal responsibility. Morality was heavily redefined to suit humanistic postmodern worldviews. Perverse lifestyles became the norm, any form of conservative morality came to be identified with bigotry. Media, television, movies, radio, and the internet evolved into echo chambers for perversion. Public schools, which were established to enforce propaganda, teach children to live the most deviant lifestyles. Every new idea is considered revolutionary, not in the sense of brilliance, but rather in line with Marxist strategem and intent.
The victims of these revolutionary ideas are given ultimatums, join the mob and echo their ideas, or be met with unrighteous indignation. Taboo has become mainstream in the new morality. These facts are highly problematic as significant portions of our daily working knowledge are supplied by our immediate society and thereby socially constructed. Knowledge of this sort is necessary for us to engage in decision-making processes. Men are often inadequately prepared to make important life decisions, but removing dependence upon God greatly compounds this reality.

Plenteous Redemption Podcast Haggai 1:12-15 (KJV) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD. And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
The Desire of any child of God is to approach life with the presence of the Lord. The Lord promised he would never leave us nor forsake us, but that has not stopped his people from leaving him when the situation appears convenient. In the moment, our selfish desires override our desire for the presence of the true and living God.
Our motive in these instances is to have our sin and the Lord also. Living this way demonstrates the unstable manner of a double-minded man. When we set out in life to please our flesh, we do so at the expense of pleasing God. The two are diametrically opposed one to the other. We can either walk in light or darkness, in the Spirit or the flesh - but we cannot have it both ways. When we live in obedience to God’s word we find ourselves walking in light and truth, this is pleasing to God. The Lord’s response is: “I am with you.” But our disobedience serves as our rejection of God’s help, his presence, and we may even encourage him to set himself against us. We want to avoid this at all costs.

Our pursuit of truth places us in endless intimate acquaintance that cannot be valued. Jesus said he is the truth. He also said his Father’s word is truth. Thus our proximity to truth is directly proportional to our relationship with Christ and his word. All matters then should be accepted or rejected based upon their compliant relationship with God’s word. We should be ready and willing to follow the truth wherever it takes us and thereby reject error at every turn. Our willingness to follow truth must then be coupled with a willingness to obey that truth.
A deep desire for truth must be more than the gratification of our curiosity. Gratification can be meted out in truth or error. Simply seeking personal contentment is distracting rather than edifying. Truth and falsehood are antithetical, but that fact is not always so clearly realized in the moment. Just as wheat grows alongside the tares, so do truth and falsehood grow together. The very nature of the existence of truth requires there also to be error. One way must be right, thereby requiring another way to be erroneous. Thus our gratification may easily be fulfilled by some admixture of truth and falsehood. The reality we must face is that truth may not provide any gratification at all; indeed it may be an hard saying difficult to receive. We must condition our hearts and minds to accept truth and reject error, even when the realization thereof is difficult.

Twice in our passage, the Lord refers to a remnant of the people. This idea of a remnant holds great importance in the word of God. It is a term that needs to be understood and also must be rightly divided. Its application can be seen when referring to both the nation of Israel and the body of Christ. While they infer similar ideas, that the reality is only a small number of people will enter the body of Christ and only a small number of Jews will remain faithful to the Lord, one must be clear when using the term.
Tracing this idea through the word of God is interesting, instructive, and to some extent discouraging. It highlights the fact the mercy of God is rarely received. In terms of the body of Christ, it informs us that Christ died for the sins of the world, but few will be saved. God did not intend things to be this way; the Lord commandeth that all men everywhere repent, but man is not keen on receiving commandments from God. Man’s attitude of rebellion is further exacerbated by failure on behalf of the Jewish remnant and the remnant that belongs in the body of Christ. The Lord said - they have not the knowledge of God I speak this to your shame. An unwillingness to repent is one factor; having never heard of their need to repent because those with the message fail to deliver it is quite another factor.
While God’s remnants are defined by their willingness to cleave to him and cling to his word, somehow, there exists a perpetual failure to take that word to the nations. It is wonderful to be counted among this identity, but it is heartbreaking to also be among the slothful who refuse to labor in the fields white unto harvest. We have failed, but that does not prevent us from being his workmanship; he is faithful. And yet, despite the failure of this remnant, we, as a whole, are given individual responsibility. As such, we can rise above and be separated from the idle attitudes of the remnant. With this in mind, it is both a blessing and troublesome to be part of God’s remnant. While it details the fact of failure by those who trust God, it also describes the fact the Lord will not leave us comfortless. He will, in the end, accomplish his own will despite our inability or unwillingness to obey his word.

As we close out the month of September, we have many significant events to report. I will start this update with the wonderful news concerning our churches. As of Wednesday, September, 22 - President Museveni gave a speech updating the country regarding the looming Covid-19 lockdown. He eased many restrictions, though the country remains in lockdown. The most important of these changes - Religious institutions can now meet with 200 people or less. We are also required to follow specific Standard Operating Procedures meant to help mitigate the spread of Covid during church meetings. We were both shocked and excited to hear the number go from zero to two hundred. Praise God for his goodness - we will meet together in our church house this Sunday, September 26.

Haggai 1:12-15 (KJV) Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD. Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD. And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
In Judah’s repentance, there were a few key ingredients. First was their decisive obedience to God’s word. They had been rebellious, complacent, disobedient, but they repented of that attitude and made the decision to obey the word of God. But a significant factor in this decision was their sudden fear of the Lord. We should absolutely fear the Lord our God.
Bible truths are often downplayed or altered to be more favorable in our day. When modern-day disciples hear an hard saying from God’s word - they tend to rebuke God and try to set him straight. Rather than allowing the word of God to develop in man a healthy fear of the Lord, modern man expects the Lord to develop a healthy fear of man.

Missionary Thomas Irvin & Missionary Keith Stensaas For many, once this dreadful word leaves one’s mouth, they begin to shutter in fear. Some may even start convulsing or looking for a safe space to hide. The awful word, deputation! In my own experience, I also had an irrational stigma implanted in my mind regarding deputation. But, I was genuinely ignorant on the subject, but I didn’t let my ignorance stop me from expressing my ideas regarding the realities of deputation. In the end, my ignorance, and my desire for relevant knowledge, allowed my wife and me to create a deputation process tailored to our needs.
As we venture into this conversation, the realities and the fears that surround deputation are further complicated. Deputation can seem intensely fearsome after more than one year of lockdowns, financial instability, social distancing, and political polarization (even with an apolitical institution such as the church). But isn’t that the purpose of the “new normal” - to create a perpetual state of fear? Deputation already comes with immense psychological pressure; that pressure is increased beyond measure in our current dispensation. First, many of the current concerns regarding deputation are naive ideas that are parroted without critical thought. Second, the use of Covid as a tool to polarize and control the world is nothing more than an excuse. Psychological distractions must be overcome through scriptural truth; we must trust God and take him at his word.

Haggai was faithful to confront Judah with God’s word. Faithfulness of this sort greatly lacks today in both the Christian and secular worlds. We have been forced into self-censorship by way of conformity to the doctrines of tolerance and political correctness. Haggai did not allow the ideological attitudes of his day to sway him; he was faithful to present God’s word - though it was contrary to people’s daily lives. Furthermore, it was a most uncomfortable message to preach, but he was faithful and obedient to the Lord.
Our responsibility today resembles this same order. We are to stand before the people and deliver God’s word. Whether in Christendom or the secular world, it matters not. We are to preach the word - instant in season and out of season. Men may not like what is said, but this provides them the opportunity to be confronted by God’s word. This confrontation is essential to the salvation of souls and the propagation of righteousness in the world. When those who have the righteousness of Jesus Christ do not confront the world with his word, we facilitate the direction of a nation that has no fear of God. In turn, God will at some point be forced to intervene by way of judgment.
Otherwise, when God’s people are faithful to preach his word, and people are obedient to that preaching, God is pleased and joins himself to such a people or nation. The options are clear, receive God’s blessing through our obedience to his word or receive God’s judgment through our disobedience to his word.
In the book of Haggai, the people obeyed the voice of the Lord. But, throughout Judah's history, this was not always the case.

When speaking of intellectuals, I will refer to that of the Christian intellect unless otherwise noted. The Christian intellectual must be willing to pursue the truth, despite the implications of the attainment thereof. While consequences should be weighted, denial of the truth is not an acceptable option if the results do not favor the person. This function, or integrity, should exist in both the Christian and the secular worlds. As Christians, we are taught ideas through biblical doctrine that stems from our denominational background. Teaching and learning are staple elements of the Christian life. But problems arise when we fail to consider the ramifications of our doctrine when carried to their end. This is a significant problem both scripturally and philosophically; we just press on as though our assumptions have no ultimate consequence. We have shown ourselves to be a most incoherent people, but we have every reason to be most coherent.

Haggai 1:1-8 (KJV) In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built. Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
This passage establishes the idea that repentance, which is forsaking your views in exchange for God’s instruction, will both please and glorify the Lord. The most direct path to resolving our disobedience is to identify the Lord’s instruction regarding a matter and immediately do what is written in the word of God.
Frequently, in the Bible, our response to what God said coincides with the idea of “going up.” That is, in our state of disobedience, we have assumed a position at the bottom. And not in the sense of humility and lowliness, but rather in rebellion and obstinance.
That being said, there exist segments of societies that, at least superficially, enjoy being rebellious. They have decided this anti-God attitude, along with all its consequences, is their lot in life. This reality endures in varying degrees, from the lost soul who hates God to the carnal Christian satisfied with their carnality. It has become feasible to exist in this state of mind as the world around us labors exhaustively to remove the consequences of sin. In varying degrees, sin is made to appear wonderful, even going so far as to create philosophical ideas that identify the sinner as a victim. This victim mentality is intensified when the consequences of their sin are made manifest. The tension produces a continual battle in which the world around us departs harder and further from reality, hoping their departure therefrom will be inconsequential.
Their deliberate withdrawal from their God results in lives dominated by mass confusion, violence, crime, perversion, addiction, depression, and degradation. These are fully conscious agents who make choices, but their dreamy expectations are that these choices must come with no consequences. They are dumbfounded when they find this impossible. The Lord created the world so that righteousness (as God defines righteousness) is rewarded and unrighteousness ( as God defines unrighteousness) is painful. The Bible says: Proverbs 13:15 (KJV) Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

In an attempt to be fair, I will not assume the world’s entities that provide such intend to do so for malicious reasons. Financial gain can be had for those who make the world more around us more convenient, and no activity can be more taxing than thinking. Thus, as problem-solvers for profit, they place themselves in a position to provide effortless thought. Better yet, as endless consumption is available, one will not need to think at all.

Nevertheless, the world around us chooses to forgo good understanding in exchange for the way of the transgressor, but they become angry when they discover transgression naturally comes with repercussions. They believe themselves fighting against systemic problems within institutions when, in fact, they are fighting against the natural order of reality as established by God himself. Thus, self-destructive behavior patterns are those that individuals choose to live out in direct conflict with God’s word. The end result of these chosen lifestyles is plain to see for those who have a close relationship with the Bible. Still, for lives of autogenous rebellion - they deny agency and responsibility when it appears convenient to do so. Imagine a world in which the murderer, the thief, the liar, are all considered victims. The people they prey upon are just unfortunate by-standards of behavior that is beyond control. In a world of this sort, evil men and seducers comfortably wax worse and worse, consoled by the idea that they are the actual victims.
Well then, the Lord raised up men like myself to confront such ungodly ideas. Repentance is the solution. For the most part, you chose your current state of being; why not choose a different one? Choose a life that is in agreement with God’s word! Turn away from decisions that caused you to scrape along the bottom of society and choose instead to move in the direction of upward mobility. In the Bible, the idea of abandoning our current state of disobedience in exchange for obedience to God’s word is regarded as “going up.” But this upward mobility does not come easy; consistency is required, but it is no less complex than staying where we are. The significant difference is the reward that comes when we know our upward trek through obedience, pleases God, and gives him glory!
Haggai 1:7-8 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
The Lord ends this passage with clear instruction, which will lead his people to please and glorify the Lord. If we were to keep our relationship with God this simple, imagine what we could accomplish spiritually. Just read your Bible, find some clear instruction, and do that - the result will be God is pleased and glorified.

Welcome back to the Plenteous Redemption Podcast; I am excited to bring you another ministry update. August flew by faster than any month I can recall. It seems to us that we blinked, and it was nearly over. It has had its up’s and down’s - many of which I hope to discuss briefly here with you.
I start this debrief with news we discovered toward the end of the month. Kristin came to me with tears of joy in her eyes, as the second pregnancy test revealed a very strong positive indication. Our first experience with Bethany was and has been an absolute joy. She has such a fun and intelligent personality. Kristin has been an excellent example of the sacrifice required of mothers to raise a healthy, happy, and disciplined child. Kristin found a midwife currently in Uganda from the UK. She has twenty-plus years of experience, and she can facilitate a home birth legally in Uganda. We are hoping to meet with the midwife in Kampala in the next week or so; Lord willing, we can begin the process of preparation for the birth of our second child.
Many of you may have heard me remark how open and receptive Ugandan’s are to the gospel. The aspect of their culture that makes preaching the gospel such a delight in Uganda is that despite their beliefs, they believe the Bible is God’s word. As such, reasoning from the scriptures is meaningful. A knowledgeable evangelist can help most Ugandan’s walk through the gospel logically, from the word of God. Suppose the lost Ugandan offers an unbiblical rebuttal, but the evangelist can demonstrate it to be so in scripture. In that case, the Ugandan is highly likely to agree with the Bible over their own opinions. This reality greatly transforms the nature of witnessing in Uganda!
Friday, August 27th - we will establish public ministry here in Masaka. We had plans for this to start back in June on the tails of a wonderful Tri-Annual Bible Institute on witnessing and discipleship. Also, in June of 2021, we had plans to hold a Bible Conference that further detailed the idea of public ministry. All of which was placed on hold as Uganda went back into lockdown due to a phobia-type fear of Covid-19. During the lockdown and in the aftermath of the original lockdown, churches have not been allowed to meet. We opted not to go forward with public ministry until the overwhelming fear unnecessarily forced upon the people had subsided.
In August, the Plenteous Redemption Podcast passed the ten-thousand download mark, with sixty-eight episodes uploaded. I am very thankful to those of you who listen to my ramblings and engage me in conversation. My hope is that they encourage Christians to think deeply about the troubles we face and that our strict adherence to the word of God is always the solution.
To wrap up, I am excited to bring you another segment on cultural appropriation. I decided to bring this one late into the month. I was sitting in a restaurant with a few Ugandan brethren when amazed by a news program. The headline - Ugandan Men Complain Of Being Beaten By Their Wives. I struggled to believe what I was seeing; they interviewed men who admitted that their wives were beating them on television. Now, Kristin is far from aggressive or violent, but I would hide if she were beating me and I saw the news coming. There is no chance in this world I would let the news publicize that my wife was beating me. Then, they showed videos of the beatings. It resembled more of a bully beating up a weakling than that of spouse abuse. It was one of the silliest things I have ever seen. Now, the women, for their part, claim the men are drunkards and that they are tired of them wasting their time and money on alcohol. Further proving that alcohol is no good thing, anywhere it is introduced, it tears families apart.

A few weeks back we looked at the reality that Judah perfectly understood what God wanted them to accomplish. They were sent back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple, but now we find them in this state of indecision. The excuse they developed to justify this status was the idea that timing just wasn’t right to do what God so clearly asked of them. While in this state of indecision, they had no trouble taking care of themselves and building their own houses while God’s house lies waste. So God sends Haggai the prophet to address his people, and in doing so adds relevance to an idea I believe we need to address.
Many of God’s people the world over have been given this idea that they should not make a move in the direction of service to God until God sends them some external revelation informing them to do what they plainly know from scripture God wants them to accomplish. Without this special external revelation, they feel somehow hindered from moving forward in the Christian life.
The plain commands from scripture no longer suffice as our final authority. Of course, we give ascent to the idea that scripture is our authority, but then we sit and wait for a feeling, a notion, a leading, peace about this or that, all the while allowing our actions to display a reality that is very different from our acknowledgments.
The book of Haggai informs us of the danger that comes from spiritual procrastination, especially when we blame God for doing so. Judah received clear instruction from God, they knew exactly what God wanted them to do, but they allowed adversity to prevent them. God had no reason to speak to them further until the work they were given was accomplished.
Instead of busying themselves with that work, they waited for a time that wasn’t coming, that is they desired further revelation from God that was unnecessary. As a result, “Then Came The Word Of The Lord.” Ten times in scripture, this exact phrase is used, and every time it’s used judgment follows.

Many of life’s endeavors require cooperation. The American mindset once looked to the lone rangers among us as heroic. There was something intrepid about a man with an individualist and nonconformist approach to life. In the modern era, this has taken a turn in an odd direction. American society is infested with millennial rebels leading the charge as social media influencers. They blaze digital trails that surely shame the explorers of old. Don’t mistake their softness for weakness; upon exiting their bean-bag-adorned safe spaces, they are ready to take on the world. Well, they are at least prepared to take on Twitter, Facebook, Tik-Tok, you know - the digital world. These models of perpetual immaturity will someday lead our country; a few are now entering into public office of varying levels. Once there, they will apply their social media influencing experience to garner support for socialism, gender confusion, and sexual perversion.
With feeble psyches, this generation has been tossed to and fro by every wind of secular doctrine. Their tossings seem endless; somehow, they have entered a cyclone of perpetual madness. But how have the members of society who once looked at rugged individualism handled the outrageous ramblings of millennial maniacs? Well, primarily through inventive appeasement. It appears clear that prior generations have defaulted to waving the white flag; they essentially advertise their propensity for weakness. This amounts to willful neglect over many years, leading to amoral gender neutral creatures who demand not rights but luxuries such as Starbucks coffee, Apple Computers, and free College. This has produced the dreadful ingredients for a perfect storm, a weak society intermingled with nihilistic brats.
So what does this have to do with partnerships in missions? A Missionary is undoubtedly that rugged individualist who sets out to preach the gospel in the regions beyond. To be successful in this endeavor, the missionary must forsake all and leave for this foreign land. A land where people talk differently, think differently, eat differently, smell differently, and worship differently. The millennial aptitude for expressing unfounded opinions from a Macbook Air with anti-capitalist stickers on the front will struggle in this setting. An excellent way to cope with the culture shock and the immediate onset of confusion caused by the corrupt bureaucratic processes of a third-world nation is to have an experienced partner in the ministry.
No doubt some will complain the idea of missionary cooperation means the loss of that rugged individualism and pioneering spirit of prior missionary generations. You should have thought about that before giving your child an X-box and flooding their minds with television. But regardless of the presence of a pioneering spirit or no, the willingness of a missionary to leave their home country and labor to establish Bible-believing Christianity in a foreign land is admirable. American society and even American Christianity caused the problem of weak young people. We allowed the influx of collectivist ideologies to flood the minds of our children through the internet, television, contemporary music of varying sorts, and through the school systems. The existence of weakness is an unfortunate fact; the question going forward is how do we fix this without allowing the spread of the gospel to suffer?
I submit that missionary partnerships are a great way to accomplish this task. But, as in any area of cooperation, partnerships come with ups and downs - pros and cons. What are the limits of collaboration? How do the areas of responsibility get defined? What happens if the two cannot agree on some issue? These ideas will need to be addressed at some point and in some reasonable way. But the pros of starting a ministry under the guidance of an experienced missionary are tremendous. Navigating the visa process alone could require a degree in indigenous corruption. But one may assume they can hire a lawyer, not understanding the role of third-world lawyers in adding to the corruption. They will happily receive your money and leave you just as confused as you were when the process started. And what of cultural norms and taboos? What will happen in this new country of yours if you wave in a friendly American manner? What if you show someone the bottom of your feet? Have you considered what might happen if you extend your left hand for any purpose? Simple details we would never think to be problematic could stir up a large-scale riot.
Missionary partnerships are invaluable; the help gained through either short-term or long-term cooperation is worth the time and effort. In this broadcast, missionary Keith Stensaas and I will try and work out some details to consider in this area of missions.

Haggai 1:1-11 (KJV) In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built. Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
The Lord gave Haggai five messages to preach to Judah. This first message dealt directly with the current state of the people. God deals with what they have been saying and doing, and then he demonstrates the consequences of this approach to life.
These people spent seventy years in captivity because they failed to worship God in accord with his word. When seventy years were accomplished, the Lord sent them back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple and restore the faithful worship of their God. As we previously noted, they started strong only to lose motivation when trouble arose. Thus just a few years into their return, Judah descended back to the attitude of indifference that previously stirred God’s wrath. They were living as though Babylon was a distant memory and God’s wrath could not be stirred again. The Lord raised up Haggai to correct that error.

The Gulag Archipelago is a comprehensive volume which details the intricate connection between Marxist ideology and the evils of the Soviet system. Collectivist ideologies (Socialism, Marxism, Communism, and Nazi Germany) are the most oft-repeated and failed ideological systems the world has known. Rather than causing the working men to unite, they prove to be forms of societal torture. The extensive three-volume set of Solzhenitsyn’s book began with the release of “One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich.” In the words of Solzhenitsyn himself, the publication of this book caused a dam to break loose. Letters began to flood in detailing the experiences of the Soviet Union’s tormented citizens. An entire country was subject to Communism’s finest, and Solzhenitsyn was going to tell their horror stories. He became overwhelmed by their trust and vulnerability, which produced in him a personal duty to publish this information. Many of these letters came from people who were still subject to their tormentors.
This collection of books came to be known, in format, as a work of Literary Investigation. The factual details of one life after another served to build a compelling case against the collectivist ideology that caused it all. Forced societal conformity began the misery; torture by cruel interrogation at the Lubyanka started the nightmare. From there, those who were arbitrarily arrested and convicted were taken to the Labor Camps, the Gulags. Some were given ten years, some were given twenty-five years for the crime of being subject to the Soviet Marxist system. Confessions were forced, or at the very least, coerced. Article 58 made the desire for a conviction easily attainable. Convicts of this sort were deemed enemies of the state and, therefore, political prisoners. Murderers and thieves were treated better than those dubbed political enemies. Under Collectivist systems, political persecution knows no boundaries. Any limitations that may exist are easily and deliberately overcome. To them, what is most important is maintaining the narrative, despite the damage such maintenance causes. The intentionally broad nature of Article 58 and the desire to uphold the narrative meant that people from all walks of life were implicated and imprisoned. Even the captors themselves came to be subject to the very abuse they once administered. Amongst this ever-expanding group was Solzhenitsyn’s Baptists.

Procrastination is presented here as sinful. God’s people were living as though knowing to do right, and then not doing it was an acceptable proposition. Procrastination eventually turns into amnesia or at least willing ignorance. We elevate excuses to a level of importance equal to that of God’s word. Which then helps us institute selective amnesia, God will be forgotten. But the gratification of our immediate desires never seems to follow the same course.
We often justify our lack of service to Christ by way of noting a lack of active sinful activity in our lives. As though not committing murder or not robbing a bank were so commendable they require free passage to sainthood. We are given no insight into the moral life of Judah in the first chapter of Haggai, but the Lord rebukes their lack of service to him. He did not address idolatry, adultery, or murder. The trouble here was that God’s people were content to set God aside.

I pray the ideas expressed here do not prove to be prophetic of America's future. What do we say of a country which votes in oppression? They invite captivity in exchange for a false sense of virtue. But collectivist propositions of this sort may prove more interesting than expected. Social justice, equality, and equity sound great until despots have made all equally desperate.
How does one convince multiples of indoctrinated generations with cultish religious beliefs of the terror ahead? At the very least, let us begin here and now, despite the words taken up over past generations to quell this matter. Consider the multitude of lives lost in the name of Utopia. Lives will continue to be lost as men try and build paradise on earth without God. Paradise by way of political dominance prescribed by a ruling class of hypocritical cowards! I will not be an accessory to America's deadly direction - "give me liberty or give me death." But liberty I have, despite the dictates of rulers, I have been made free indeed.

This first message is delivered to Zerubbabel - the political leader and to Jeshua - the religious leader. The starting point for Haggai’s message dealt with what the people were saying. How we think, and what we say no doubt eventually affect what we do, or don’t do. So God sends Haggai to confront the people, “This people say” - we want to look at what the people were saying in light of what God said.

The book of Haggai is unbelievably applicable to our day and time. It seems to me, the study of this book of the Bible by modern man is essential. What’s more, the study of this book of the Bible by God’s people is a must. It would seem my suggesting that God’s people study a particular book of the Bible is a futile statement to make. Any Christian, if asked, would answer correctly that every book of the Bible should be read and studied. But, have you studied or even read the book of Haggai?
After the book of Zephaniah, Judah was removed from the promised land and taken into captivity for seventy years. With the seventy years in captivity accomplished, Judah returned to Jerusalem with instructions to rebuild the house of God. The work started strong but soon shut down. In response to Judah’s neglect of the house of God, Haggai began to prophesy to the people. As such, Haggai was the first prophet to prophesy after Judah returned from Babylonian captivity. Two months after Haggai began to prophesy, Zacheriah began to prophesy alongside him. Ezra tells us that Judah prospered under the preaching of Haggai and Zechariah.
It appears that Haggai only prophesied four months, but the response to his preaching garnered a critical response. In this study, we will examine the source of Haggai’s message to Judah in the hopes of encouraging a generation of men to preach from this same eternal source. I have little doubt any thoughtful Christian is grieved by the world around us as well as by the current state of Christianity. To effect change, our political presuppositions and our enforcement of personal morality will not suffice. We cannot look to a change in political administrations; we cannot depend upon some form of moral evolution; there will only be one source of actual change. The concise ministry of Haggai the prophet makes that source clear, and it is abundantly available still today.

Dependency, often thought of in terms of substance abuse, is a much broader phenomenon. Not only so, but it spreads as quickly as a virus from China. Debilitating its host people or country. In our context, dependency refers to an unnatural and unhealthy attachment to others. When strong and capable men find themselves willfully beholden to the sway and influence of outsiders. Thus far, external political forces in Africa have created a continent of perpetual dependency. Maybe even by design, but that is not to say Africa played no role in this state of being. Too often, the oppressed bear as much blame as the oppressor.
But what about Christianity’s role in this matter? By use of the term “Christianity,” I mean in the biblical sense. Not in the world’s overly broad and useless employ of religious terminology. The reference is strict to Bible-believing Christianity; the difference is vast. In what way have we compelled the souls of foreign lands to simply exchange dependencies?
The conflation of temporal self-interests and spiritual interests is easy for foreign missionaries (and political actors) to leverage. Even if the intent is wholly good, the result may be a people dependent, not a people helped. Wishful thinking coupled with ambition tends to overcome objective and even biblical thinking. Christians understand all too well the battle that ensues when biblical truth interferes with emotion-based desires. We arrive at our evangelical destination full of zeal and ideas. Then difficulties arise, we learn that things will not go as planned. We then face choices that potentially produce an atmosphere of compromise.
Human volition plays a significant role in dependency, but throwing money at our ideas, especially when those ideas involve the souls of lost men in deep poverty, only tends to tempt them beyond that which they are able. How do we arrive in the third world ready to save souls, only to find in the end, we have created addicts who are not addicted to the ministry but rather to foreign funds? The moment the source of dependency leaves, the so-called ministry dissipates. We are not accomplishing the lofty spiritual task of the Great Commission by throwing money at souls and situations. We create a dependent people, no more spiritual and no more prosperous.
But what of compassion? We create a false sense thereof when we take this approach to spiritual accomplishment. Just as the politician smiles, knowing the future ends when the funds cease to flow. Much of the third-worlds misfortune is the result of personal mismanagement; how then could they benefit by receiving more funds? Genuine compassion is teaching them, through biblical principles, how to solve their own troubles. That is a biblical means of earning money, biblical principles for managing money, and the blessing that comes when those funds honor and glorify God. In dealing with this topic, we face a complex moral conundrum. How do we manage our spiritual ambition and produce self-sufficient people dedicated to Jesus Christ our Lord?

This lack of concern for the house of God highlights deeper trouble, namely a lack of concern for the God of the house. But Judah responded in a positive manner to Haggai's intense preaching.

Upon Judah's return, the people assembled themselves together as one man unto Jerusalem. Someone needed to take charge and lead this newly assembled congregation of God's people. Jeshua stood, and set forward the work of God. As such, the altar was built, worship to God was reestablished, the Levites were set in their place, and the foundation of the temple was laid. All this was accomplished because one man stood, in proper leadership, to set forward the work of God.

The Book Of Haggai | Zerubbabel - A Biographical Sketch
When Judah was taken into captivity, the time of the Gentiles was in full effect. Judah's subsequent return to Jerusalem seventy years later was accomplished under the guidance and direction of the Gentile king of Persia, Cyrus. From this point forward Israel would be dominated by Gentile powers, until the return of Jesus Christ at his second coming.
Cyrus appointed Zerubbabel, as governor over Judah, but Israel would remain many days without a king. A brief look through the Old Testament at the word “governor” will reveal its typical use refers to Gentile powers appointing someone as head over a region or a people. The point here is that Israel will not be establishing a new king, they are subject to the Gentiles until the Lord himself comes to set this matter straight.

A basic understanding of his thoughts regarding the God of heaven and earth would lead one to believe he lifted up his eyes in hell, being in torment. Reportedly nine people attended his funeral; Marx was by no means the beloved philosopher he appears to be today. The nine that stood among his graveside, assuming there were no hopes of collecting money most assuredly owed them, may have thought his wretched philosophy would die with him. Unfortunately, the more than one hundred million dead souls, whose blood scattered throughout the twentieth century, as well as the sudden resurgence of Marxist ideas in the twenty-first century, proved such a thought to be incorrect.
Fortunately, men like Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and George Orwell endured to the end of even their own presuppositions. They lived to tell of the torture, control, and death caused by the implementation of Marxist philosophy. But we have come so far since that time, right? Morality has evolved, right? Solzhenitsyn made it shameful in his day to declare oneself a Marxist, and yet, here we are again.

The Book Of Haggai | Darius The King - A Biographical Sketch
Haggai 1:1 - In the second year of Darius the king
This podcast will serve as a biographical sketch of Darius, the king. At times called Darius the Persian or Darius the Median.
As we discussed in the previous podcast, the book of Ezra details the return of Judah to Jerusalem. Upon arrival they began to rebuild the temple, only to be forced to stop by the decree of Artaxerxes the king. In time God raised up Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the prophet to stir the hearts of the people. The time in which they prophesy is dated by the reign of Darius the king. Darius also played a special role in further assisting Judah in their completion of the temple.

Overwhelmingly, the claims made in our day by feminists are patently false. As a result, men have become the target of gender condescension. The purpose of this, positive discrimination in one direction requires negative discrimination in the other direction. Thus unfounded claims by lewd and contentious women become the rally cries used to bring men low. The feminist claims that they are oppressed under some dominant male patriarchy is nothing more than Marxist propaganda by way of identity politics. By following biblical principles, we are encouraged to soberly consider clear scriptural instruction for life's direction. When clear and specific instruction isn't available, we examine the decision, subject, or person in light of the fruit they have produced over time. I submit that ample, clear instruction exists regarding perverted ideas like abortion. "Conservatives” and “republicans” struggle with this matter in terms of moral reasoning, but they have no basis for such reasoning. I encourage such an one to provide a standard of truth for these struggles, trust God, for the word of the Lord is right and all his works are done in truth. But, I do understand conservative Republicans and Christians are not the same. Considering that the word of God and loss of life are not enough to deter, I recommend abortion be examined based on its history and the fruit it produces.

An enigma faces the Western world, that of a solution for our tired, our wearied masses who congregate in our streets. How can it be the wealthiest country in the world is inundated with scores of people who view city streets as they view toilets. They are not politically oppressed people. They freely speak their minds, often in the vilest of manners. In reality, the cities where these miscreants congregate often pass city ordinances granting them special protection. It's almost as though they were some indigenous tribe who should have been recognized for their previous ownership of respective lands. Unfortunately, the businesses and homes in the area immediately lose any right to reasonable ownership and safety of their property. These people have no fear of political or governmental repercussions, indeed they can go quite far with their wretched behavior.

Reality is an unfortunate casualty when narratives are forcefully maintained. Factual information threatens cunningly devised fables causing political weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. It’s frustrating that few perform basic due diligence; ask why people are homeless. Politicians, the media and intellectual elites so focused on their narrative and possible constituent response fail to concern themselves with the cause of the effect. The ideologists of our society seek to isolate individuals into groups, then teach them that they have been victimized. They have no concern for the individuals within each ill-defined group. The groups themselves become a means to political ends.

Missions Moment – 6/19/2020 – Friday:
Rwanda:
The Republic of Rwanda is a small nation in the Great Lakes region of Central Africa and is slightly larger than Vermont. It has a population of 12.7 million, or slightly less than Pennsylvania. Estimates for the population of Rwanda take into account the effects of excess mortality due to AIDS. Over 60% of the population is under the age of 25, and the average life expectancy at birth is only 65.1 years in Rwanda. This is because 2.5% of the adult population is living with HIV/AIDS. This is the 20th highest AIDS adult prevalence rate in the world.
The people of Rwanda are all part of one cultural group, but they are divided into three different subgroups, the Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. Germany colonized Rwanda in 1884, and made it part of German East Africa, but allowed the Tutsi to continue to rule the colony as a monarchy. In 1916, during World War I, Belgium removed Germany from Rwanda, and made it a colony of Belgium, but continued to allow the Kings of Rwanda to govern the colony. In 1959, the Hutu population revolted against the Tutsi King, and Belgium granted Rwanda Independence on July 1, 1962. The Hutu people set up a one-party dictatorship that lasted for 21 years. In 1990, the Tutsi started a Civil War, and the Hutu that was in power killed over a million of their own countrymen who happened to be of the Tutsi ethnicity in 1994. The Tutsi finally won the Civil War and set up a Republic. The economy has suffered since the genocide of 1994, and Rwanda has an unstable government.
Rwanda has four Official Languages, but Kinyarwanda is the most spoken as a native tongue. Over 90% speak Kinyarwanda as their first language, 0.1% speak French, English, and Swahili, the other three Official Languages. English is used as the main language in schools, and Swahili is a required subject in schools.
Almost half of the population (43.7%) are Roman Catholic, 11.8% Adventist, 2% Muslim, and 37.7% are other Protestant. Currently, it is illegal to live in Rwanda as a Missionary, but Bro. Tony Stark is able to travel into Rwanda for periods up to three months at the time. He has planted churches and turned them over to nationals. Bro. Thomas Irvin is on deputation now to go to Uganda and is planning on taking trips into Rwanda as well, preaching the Gospel in Rwanda. There are attempts being made with the government to allow Missionaries to stay permanently in Rwanda, but this is a slow process. Although it is illegal to stay in Rwanda as a Missionary, a preacher that goes there for a short time has the liberty to preach the Gospel, and the people are very receptive to the Gospel.
Bro. Irvin requests that we pray for Missionary status to be established with the government so that Missionaries could have the freedom to stay in the nation. The Rwandan government is working with Missionaries on this, but it would be a great help to the spread of the Gospel in Rwanda if this could come to fruition.
Please pray for these men who are being wise as serpents and harmless as doves, and taking advantage of every opportunity to reach people with the Gospel. Please pray for the people of Rwanda today.

The Quakers were a strict bunch, they tended towards rigidly structured societies. They were faithful to their way of life, implementing the rule of law. But, unfortunately, many of them came to be involved in the slave trade, a mistake staining their legacy. Eventually, the English Parliament decided to get themselves into the business of religion. Any church or pastor unwilling to conform to the Church of England would be subject to penalty. As a result, many Quakers became indentured servants in Barbados, others ended up on a colony in Pennsylvania. While there, the Quakers in tune with their sense of duty began to establish businesses. Over time the harsh penalties in London began to subside allowing the Quakers in Philadelphia to work with the Quakers in London. They established massively profitable trade between London and Pennsylvania. These businesses often directly or indirectly supported the ongoing slave trade.

The Cross & The Culture: Pornography | Fruit Of The Sexual Revolution
The societal damage caused by the sexual revolution is far-reaching. "Rolling Stone" magazine recently boasted about the extreme forms of sexual perversion that took place on a daily basis during the course of a workday in their offices. Apparently, they had no reservations against informing the world that the women working there at that time would rate the sexual performance of the men they worked with via graffiti on the bathroom wall. These people and this magazine have played a major role in shaping the minds of young people over the years. A brief look at our society will confirm this fact, and heir influence has been devastating.
The sexual revolution sought to tear down the societal institutions and constructs that were in place to protect young people, primarily women, from various forms of sexual abuse or exploitation. But this crowd convinced the world these institutions were restrictive and hindered their ability to truly live. They gave no thought to the possible consequences, they had no clue “she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.” They tore down these useful constructs thereby opening the flood gates of sexual perversion and confusion.
This lascivious group of fools believed society's overall unwillingness to permit lewd behavior was repressive. The sooner they could set free from said repression, the sooner everyone could benefit from this new-found freedom. Too often lasciviousness is confused with liberty. From that time until now, This relentless overdose of sexual perversion helped to produce modern-day sexual saturation. We now live in a time when confusion and sexual perversion have merged into the same lane. We struggle to see the difference between the pediatrician and the pedophile. The school teacher is arrested on the basis of sexual relationships with her students. College campuses have phones lit with a familiar blue every few feet, in case the young girl can reach it before being raped. I wonder how many members of the sexual revolution in the sixty's have lately had to comfort a daughter who bore the fruit of their labors. Or maybe they had to weep over a son's prison sentence, a son who lacked understanding or societal constraints to prevent his carrying out sexual expression without the consent of his victim.
Our media is often far more influenced by the minds of pornography than we may know. The Daily Express, a newspaper in England is owned by Richard Desmond, who made himself into a media mogul through pornography. Rupert Murdoch, the one time CEO of Fox, including Fox News and Sky News, was at one time considered the largest producer of pornography in the world. How is that for being fair and balanced? By the way, Rupert Murdoch is also a disciple of Rick Warren. Just an interesting connection, a preacher with lying lips and a porn mogul intermingled with conservative news. You may also be familiar with another network owned by Murdoch called the Christian Broadcasting Network. It seems the revolution was able to break down an array of restrictive walls.
The leading influences in the world around us seem to be in a rush to get us further down this road. Vulgarity, promiscuity, and perversion are conflated with seemingly mischievous behavior. Course hearts with unbridled apatite's demand the right to be satisfied maintaining no concern for anyone harmed in the process. This unbridled hedonism has led to various forms of profitably controlled chaos. The sexual revolution fought hard for its definition of freedom, kicking against every trace of moral restriction until little is left to kick against. The revolution rages on, but with few barriers left to break down, they have turned their attention towards ideas. The world is now expected to take a man serious that calls himself a woman. We are seriously expected to believe every baseless accusation made by women. Often the same women that fought for a society with no sexual boundaries. The idea that man is to have access to an endless measure of choice and pleasure is naïve at best and sinister at its worst. Regardless of the idea, people are being physically harmed as these ideas are lived out. Ideas have consequences, and moral societal constructs exist to protect the vulnerable.
This persistent demand for the ablation of restraint should be reaching tipping points. Unfortunately, the people that should care are too busy enjoying the content of the sexual revolution to mind. Outwardly they pose as if they have concern for the helpful moral restrictions of old, while behind closed doors they are participating or “taking pleasure in them that do them.” At least in part, this continued revolution takes ideological aim at anyone attempting to stand for any form of morality, especially a biblically prescribed morality. They use vile and subversive tactics to tear down any semblance of virtue. The easiest and possibly the most successful of revolutionary attacks are against the character of the individuals standing for any form of rightness. In our day, it's too easy to make manifest the failures in one's life, especially in terms of the virtue they intend to defend. If at any time in life they participated in the evil they now advocate against, their virtuous stance is then required to be viewed as enduring hypocrisy. Thus defenders of morality are halt in that they are too often double-minded, and fulfillment of unbridled appetites, at any cost, reigns supreme.
Shock value is now the arbiter of truth, shock value can make one famous, even infamous. The trouble is the shock value of yesterday will not have the same effect today. Sensation hits its peak and then begins to fall rapidly. Thus the providers of sensations will have to be more and more extreme, and the consumers of sensation will speed ahead or chase close behind that next convention-breaking moment. At this point, extreme is the rule, the more extreme - the viler. The more vile - the greater the damage. Laws of obscenity still exist, yet at this point, they are but mere unenforceable suggestions. Relics left behind from a time when America cared. Today there is more pushback against legislative meant to curb obscenity rather than outrage over its existence. Obscenity is the rule, and they are not ashamed, neither could they blush.
I recall the days when satire magazines in grocery store checkout lines were laughable commentaries of the absurd. We would see them and immediately shake our heads at the outrageous headlines. Today, the satire is everyday life in America, outrageous magazines are hard to sell because reality is so closely aligned. We now exist within a society that believes extreme forms of sexual perversion are in fact inalienable human rights. Pedophiles believe they have the right to engage in sexual activity with the children of their choice. We have well crossed the tipping point in our societal experiment with the unnatural. It will be hard, nationally speaking on a legal basis, to continue to deny pedophiles the freedom to harm children. If two men can marry one another and women can legally abort a living human being for the most arbitrary of inconveniences. How can any lines of restriction be drawn?
The existence of these ideas should be odd to anyone, but our governing laws now go as far as our population is willing to go. That is a scary thought, this means as long as society is willing to spiral out of control, the legal system is obliged to follow. The purpose of the existence of laws is to prevent the line from being crossed and to uphold some sense of natural and national morality, but when the laws are constantly moved along with the lascivious affections of the people, then laws no longer have a purpose. The inmates are now running the prison. We live in a world heavily weighted in favor of the perverse.
The sexual revolution is not done yet. But this deeply engraved tendency of man to live out that which is hidden in the dark recesses of their minds was extent long before the rise of the perverts of the 1960s. Pornography is defined: Licentious painting or literature; especially, the painting anciently employed to decorate the walls of rooms devoted to bacchanalian orgies. Bacchus was the Roman god of agriculture, the Romans associated this false god with the harvest. He was said to be the son of Jupiter by a human woman. His main responsibility was to wander the world educating people on how to make wine from grapes. Curious to see the consistent connection between drunkenness and lewdness.
Bacchus had a Greek counterpart, Dionysus. Dionysus is considered to be an earlier manifestation of the same god. He earned the title of a party god, primarily because of his promotion of drunken orgies. In the spring, Roman women would attend secret ceremonies, of which I would not dare describe, these sexual free-for-alls took place to honor their god. Due to his connection with the harvest, a celebration was held each year in his name at the beginning of October. His ultimate mission was liberation, during these perverted drunken frenzies it was said that he loosened the tongues of participants. As a result, the people involved were free to say and do what they want, in that moment, without consequence. This, of course, sounds like the modern-day Democratic Party platform. Bacchus is often portrayed as effeminate, funny, and lewd.
So as far back as the sixth-century, pornographic materials were painted on the walls of the rooms where this drunken perversion took place. As such, today pornography can be defined in a number of arbitrary ways. Loosely, it is the representation of sexual behavior in books, pictures, statues, motion pictures, and any media intended to cause sexual stimulation. This, of course, is very subjective and is limited or expanded based upon the relative taste or motives of each individual or group. The pornography of yesterday is the family television of today. Interestingly enough, the word pornography is taken from two Greek words. Porni which means "prostitute" and the word graphein which means "to write." Thus its original use was to define any material that depicted the generally understood life and work of a prostitute.
In our world today, this would describe a large portion of photos and videos that make up social media. Women today have been convinced exposure of their flesh is equal to liberation. The more women are given over to the characteristics of a prostitute, the more they claim to be free. Thus the subjective nature of pornographic material coupled with the apparent everyday practice of the average American woman certainly makes the term “pornography” broadly applicable. The term is relative to the individual or group involved, sadly Christians in America have become content with depictions the Bible would certainly declare inappropriate. Yet Islam will not allow such open debauchery to exist in their societies. That doesn't mean their societies lack various forms of sexual depravity, they most certainly do. This type of religious hypocrisy has existed for some time, in the medieval era, it was seen in the sexual depravity of Roman Catholic Monks and priests. That hasn't changed really, as of December 2019, 5000 new cases of sexual abuse were filed against the Roman Catholic Church which is expected to cost them another $4 billion.
By 2019, thousands of victims have been named and billions of dollars have been paid in a feeble attempt to recompense the children that have been physically, emotionally, and spiritually damaged. In 2018 Pope Francis made a fool of himself in a rather unique way. He claimed the victims of the work of his clergy were fabricating their allegations. Yet later that year he apologized and went on to express shame and sorrow for a consistent history of abuse by the Roman Catholic Church. It seems a rather odd mistake to make for someone that claims to speak ex-cathedra. One rather notable case in 2018 involved a high ranking Cardinal and Bishop of the Catholic Church. The sexual predator preyed upon adult males and minors, but at least he opposed gay marriage and abortion. Fortunately, the Pope dealt harshly with him, he ordered him to a life of prayer and penance, whatever that means. The Vatican had a trial resulting in the laicization of their clerical pervert. He will serve no time in prison.
It seems Rome is just carrying out the salacious fruit of their pagan roots. The works of Bacchus are still carried out and exported by one of the most pagan and depraved organizations to exist, the Roman Catholic Church. At this point, it should be considered abusive to allow a child or young adult to ever step foot inside a Catholic Church.
Bacchanalian ideas were further propagated in Europe with the manifestation of the printing press. Over the years, as technology has advanced, it has somehow been used to further spread lewd literature and images. In 1558 the Heptameron was published, it contained 72 tales, stories that illustrate virtue and honor as well as the frustration of vice and hypocrisy. Much of the language was deeply sarcastic and meant to highlight the licentious lifestyles of monks and clerics. This book was among a group of publications that began to open the door for unnecessarily descriptive content.
In the 18th century, printing technology became more advanced. Printing material developed the ability to regularly produce written content that possessed images. With this development came an underground group of perverts that began to traffic lewd materials. Books such as "Memoirs of a woman of pleasure" began to be commonly read. Pornographic pictures were produced under the guise of art, in Paris, these photos were widely produced and consumed. In France, these photos came to be known as "French Postcards." Soon pornography would be used as a means of social and political dissent. The use of pornography helped elevate ideas of sexual freedom for women, whatever that means, as well as contraceptives and abortion. They all seem to be branches from the same corrupt tree.
By 1830, when Queen Victoria came to the throne, it is estimated there were more than fifty pornographic shops on booksellers row in London. During the Victorian Age, pornography flourished in England and in the United States. In 1890 a book called "My Secret Life" graphically detailed the life of a man whose only pursuit was sexual gratification. It was a lewd rebellion against the puritan based society of the Victorian era. Proponents of the sexual revolution would consider the production of such perverted material at this time in history heroic victories by the party of the sexual liberation of old. But, the revolution is not finished yet, it would later be televised.
The 19th century brought about photography and soon motion pictures. Of the many wonderful uses of these inventions, pornography quickly seized its opportunity. Pornographic films were readily available as early as the 1920s in America. By the 1960s the sexual revolution is in full effect and a massive upsurge in pornographic film came to exist. The 1980s brought about a shift in the use of pornography, the invention of VHS meant sexual perverts could sit at home and watch alone in the dark. They no longer had to make their way to theater seats or enter a convenience store and embarrassingly purchase pornographic material. Now, they could take the theater home with them. Twenty years into the VHS era, more than 75% of all videos sold were pornographic. In the 1990s this problem was made worse by the invention of DVDs. As if this was not bad enough, in the ‘90s also came the world-wide-web. In rapid fashion, the pornography industry became the most profitable industry on the internet.
But this again brought about a massive change in the dynamics. With the advent of the internet, individuals could take pornographic photos and videos of themselves and upload them to the internet. This has proven to be a disaster! Pornography developed many of the initial internet marketing techniques, this is considered a victory by the revolutionaries because mostly women were the developers. The mid-1990s brought about much debate over the use of pornography on the internet. It was hotly debated on the Senate floor, interesting to note, while the West is debating the use of pornography on the internet, Rwandans were being brutally murdered in the Rwandan Genocide. Nonetheless, over the years the pattern has been: new invention, expansion of pornographic materials, outrage by the moral majority, then a measure of acceptance of debased visuals by society.
As the debate raged on, the question literally became: "How do we protect our children and Free Speech?" - So far, in terms of pornography, free speech has been safe. Children have become a hot commodity for the Roman Catholic Church and the Porn Industry. Human Trafficking, as an illegal industry has been fueled by the high demand of the porn industry. Due to its great lack in regulation along with its nearly endless freedom, it seems the answer to the question: free remains free, children have become abused captives. The concern was that children would find porn on the internet and ruin their hearts and minds, which they most certainly did. But the Porn industry decided to take the sexual revolution a step further and include debased means of harming children.
The Senate did take up a resolution in 1995 that intended to target anyone that placed pornographic materials online. The idea was to prevent easy discovery by anyone under the age of 18. Oddly enough, Bill Clinton signed the Communications Decency Act into law. The Senate understood if something was not done at that time, the Sexual revolution would hijack the information revolution. By 1996 technological innovation and marketing would combine. A man who owned a marketing company that brokered ads for pornographic websites, in other words, a lewd fellow of the baser sort, joined up with man hoping to benefit from the technological underworld. The man owned a domain name that would be of great benefit for the perverted mindsets searching for pornography online. It soon became clear the federal regulation signed by Bill Clinton did little or nothing to stop the onslaught of pornography online. The idea of age enforcement didn’t stop children from accessing porn, and to make matters worse the massive demand now includes the abuse of children to help sustain the industry.
As the numbers of computers in homes began to rise exponentially, so did indecent exposure. This marketing group began to develop banner ads that would lead searchers to pornographic membership sites. The idea was to place these banner ads on scores of unrelated, but frequently visited websites. The ad would flash before the person enticing them to want to see more, so they click the link which takes them to the pornographic website. This idea would develop the standard for all future marketing in every area of the internet. Companies that have products to market online rely on this exact same method today. The value of such ads is still calculated in a similar fashion as well. The marketer would benefit from impressions, that is the number of times these lewd ads would load for visitors to a site. Secondly, by the number of clicks, which meant that someone was redirected from a legitimate website to a pornographic website. This initial marketing scheme profited the website owner some $30,000 per ad. The website owner put the word out in Las Vegas that he owned the online space and the marketing scheme needed for this to flourish.
Porn drove the VCR industry in the 1980s, thus evangelist of the porn industry was warmly welcomed by the technology moguls of the day. Their hope was to have porn drive the information age just as it had done with VHS. Online businesses were failing, people were taking chances hoping to understand how to make money with .com's. Yet, the Wall Street Journal began to note how pornographic websites were strong in the black. It didn't take much to be successful, the website owner simply needed a blank slate to fill with perverted banners. Defiled minds would be happy to search out and pay for access to these visuals. The underground world of sexual exploitation would be hard at work creating the necessary content to be hosted on the various sites. The world at large moved past the outrage of stanch sexual content online to becoming amazed at the innovation of the respective marketers. The world of online pornography developed a means of credit card payments online, video hosting, etc. Major aspects of all we know and use online today were developed as a means of marketing and profiting by the porn industry.
By 1997, the Supreme Court shot down the previous attempt at regulating obscenity on the internet. Personally I love freedom, especially freedom of speech. But we have reached a crossroads here in which pornography, as a form of freedom, is harming the lives of millions. Over the years Online Pornography has dominated the internet. I have to say, until doing the research for this series of Podcasts, I was naïve to the seriousness of the problem. As of 2018, laws against pornography are no longer relegated to obscenity, though that is bad enough. Current laws dealing with pornography are directly related to Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation. Current measures to slow down this massive form of victimization are prevented from moving forward by groups such as the ACLU, the Center for Democracy and Technology, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the Free Speech Coalition. Oddly, these groups often land on the side of exploitation all the while calling it a defense of freedom.
The porn industry, of course, is against any forms of regulation. They often respond by stating their belief that parents are in the best position to protect children from pornography. Which is a novel idea, expecting parents to actually take some responsibility for whatever is set before their children's eyes. Furthermore, it does seem odd to be lectured by members of the porn industry regarding the safety and welfare of children. Child trafficking and sexual exploitation essentially exist today for the purpose of producing content for the porn industry. This provides a perfect picture of this present evil world. Irresponsible parents being lectured by pornographers that use children to produce their content. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
Suffice it to say, this monster has been allowed to freely grow. One online porn mogul is the company MindGeek, they own several web-based porn sites that produce what they call "entertainment." MindGeek websites receive around 115 million visitors daily. Compare that to YouTube which receives around 30 million visitors daily. By January 2020 pornography makes up around 12% of internet webpages. 25% of all search engine requests are related to pornography. 35% of all internet downloads are pornographic. 70% of men visit pornographic sites at least monthly. Women make up some one-third of all internet visits to porn sites. Sunday is the most popular day of the week that pornography is viewed online. Thanksgiving is the most popular day of the year for the same. Often, as much as 28% of computer-based labor visits pornographic sites during their workday.
In the age of Covid-19, this next statistic is most alarming. When kids are out of school for an extended period of time, searches for pornographic sites by children rises by 4700%. Now, the sites should not exist, but this is a direct result of failed parenting. As of April 2020, during the Covid-19 home detention orders, various watchdog groups report a 95% increase in online child pornography traffic. Let me be clear, I'm not speaking of children searching porn, I'm speaking of children being used in the pornographic content. Innocent casualties of the sexual revolution and the freedom to mass-produce pornography. This same group reports that pedophiles have seen the value of moving their sick practices of preying on children online. They are targeting your children.
The various groups that intend to exploit your children for the purpose of content by way of vile sexual abuse often use Facebook, Instagram, or twitter to accomplish their devious goals. Many of them also use dating apps, why your child would be on a dating app is further evidence of failed parenting. I would suggest parents have failed if their children have access to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. The reality is these apps are used by and for adults. It is not safe to allow children to use them, the content is often vile and your children are exposed to morbid ideas. The relationship between the internet as technology and pornography as a form of content has explosively dangerous results. A massive number of people taken for the purpose of human trafficking are coerced online, often the young and vulnerable are targeted. Once they are in the hands of their traffickers, more than three-quarters of victims are then advertised online for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Porn sites are ready to receive any of the images from these exploited men, women, and children. Often Backpage and Craigslist are used to advertise them locally.
The production of pornography is often facilitated by the use of force, fraud, or extreme forms of coercion. The physical and sexual abuse is recorded and photographed, then uploaded to the worldwide web for sale to the sick and twisted minds that have developed an interest in such materials.
I would like to end here with a testimony from a young girl that was abducted and forced into human sex trafficking. She is a victim of this form of free speech and the sexual revolution. Please understand this testimony is graphic, if you have any inclination to consume pornographic content, you need to listen to this testimony. If you are settled on the fact pornography is evil content that is not pleasing to God, therefore you will not consume it, then I would recommend not listening any further.
By the time Rachel was five, she had already been sexually abused by a family member. This plunged her into a state of depression she could not understand at her young age. By age twelve, she was targeted by a sex trafficker. She didn't know his intent was to force her into this horrendous industry. They don't exactly show up with signs advertising their intent. No, he was smooth-talking and he had a nice car that caught attention. As Rachel was waiting for her friends to catch the bus, the sweet-talking man approached her with candy. He showed an interest in her to which she was not accustomed. The man, though much older than her, was such a gentleman, he really seemed to be able to relate to her. Over time, the man would show up there and talk with her, eventually, she gave him her phone number.
One day he called her, which greatly surprised her. He asked if she would like to hang out, and she said yes, he showed up at an appointed meeting place in an expensive car. She was very excited to have this opportunity, especially with someone that seemed to care about her. The trip went great, the man treated her very nicely. This series of events happened repeatedly over the next few weeks until eventually, the man asked her to come and stay with him. She reluctantly agreed, they lived together for three months, during which he treated her like a princess. Eventually, she noticed other girls were passing through with his friends and cousins. She was suspicious, but uncertain what this was all about. Soon, the man that had treated her so well began giving her instructions. He began to inform her what would be required of her and how she could perform in such a way as to make them more money.
Soon the instruction ended, and she was forced to start working. She would be taken from city to city, from 10 am to midnight she would be forced to perform. The first few days she was only required to see twenty men per-day, eventually, it was thirty men per day seven days per week. She estimates she was raped in this manner more than 40,000 times. She was forced into brothels, hotels, dark streets, homes, and on camera. The men she encountered were cruel and ruthless. Any attempts to protest or any complaints of dissatisfaction led to her being beaten by her trafficker with a chain. Rachel was ushered from place to place with other girls, some of whom were only ten years old, all forced into the same situation.
Eventually, Rachel was found to be pregnant, after the birth of the baby her traffickers took the baby and used the child as leverage against her. Rachel was eventually rescued when an anti-trafficking raid kicked in the door. She was trafficked in this manner for four horrible years. While perverts sit and debate their sexual independence, girls like this are being forcefully violated. While fools argue their freedom of speech, children are being taken and used in vile ways by adults who intend to exercise that freedom. Something serious needs to be done. I'm afraid I have come across very little information in my lifetime that I have found to be so grievous. The connection between simply watching porn, exercising free speech, and the sexual revolution need to be clearly documented.
Modern man is so convinced they are so sexually enlightened. Convinced of their revolutionary freedom they no longer deal with shame, jealousy, frustration, confusion, etc. They can now sit back and enjoy the deep levels of contentment this newfound enlightenment brought about, except they are far from content. The demand for sexual freedom is now a freight train barreling full steam ahead. As such, it cannot stop, even if a child is found in the way, the child must be counted as an unfortunate victim of revolutionary sexual freedom. Chaos now abounds, unbridled lust walks to and fro arrogantly seeking whom it may devour. The sexual revolution has been a disaster, pornography, and human sex trafficking is the fruit of this disaster.

Light In The Dark Continent: Moffat | Assigned to Africa
Through the course of life, the most insignificant events can determine great change. Robert Moffat was living and working in High Leigh. He would, from time to time make the trip from High Leigh to Warrington, which was about six miles away. The evening was beautiful and calm. As he rode in the way, Moffat's mind began to be consumed by thoughts of his God. He would notice the Lord's handiwork and how the heavens declare his glory. Moffat began to reflect on how the days of his youth had been evil. He understood his service to the world had been a severe waste of time that now needed to be faithfully redeemed. Moffat thought I must now serve him who died for me before now my life has had no purpose. But these thoughts were followed by ideas of impossibility. He thought, what little could I do? Saddened by the time wasted, Moffat found great pleasure in contemplating the future, a future dedicated to Christ.

Pornography | The Butterfly Effect
We have certainly come to live in a strange world. Rap artist with misogynistic lyrics, Rock Stars with perverted music, and movie stars with depraved lifestyles set themselves up as moral authorities. It is no surprise then how widely accepted pornography has become. But, I wonder if the consumers of such lewd media of the baser sort have considered all that comes along with this perverted private sinful pleasure.
I have to warn you ahead of time, this will not be pleasant. While I have kept the language clean and certainly acceptable to today's standards by far, we will discuss some horrendous ideas, as such, adults should consider listening first before allowing children to hear this discourse.
Pornography is not only legal but highly unregulated. I don't say that assuming more regulation would solve the problem, but rather I find it odd very little has been done to curb this issue. Like alcohol, too many high powered players are participants and therefore unwilling to check their drug of choice. Recent Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is well known for his twisted perverted writings of sexual revolutions and rape fantasies. But Porn, a disgusting word to even mention, is harmful in ways drugs and alcohol have not. My intent with this first episode on the subject is to help consumers of pornography fully understand the world in which they have involved themselves. Pleasure seeking participants have, maybe unknowingly, helped enable what may be one of the world's most evil industries.

Light In The Dark Continent | Two Worlds
Two very different worlds will soon collide. The ensuing violence of the Bushmen and the Dutch settlers, the exchange in governmental powers between the Dutch and the English. Chaos in South Africa, where the kingdoms of this world take counsel together and violently maneuver for power. Contrasted with the simple life of a diligent gardener. God would have these two worlds to cross paths, the result would be miraculous.

Addiction & Withdrawal
Homeostasis is defined: metabolic equilibrium actively maintained by several complex biological mechanisms that operate via the autonomic nervous system to offset disrupting changes. Though these biological mechanisms are complex, they are very real. Introducing change to this system can and undoubtedly will cause some sense of withdrawal. Many foods, drinks, and substances can trigger such a change. A Person that drinks large amounts of coffee suddenly stops drinking that coffee, these biological mechanisms go through a change and small scale withdrawals will be felt. Withdrawal from substance abuse is very real, in the sense that long term use of a particular drug will bring about temporary bodily discomfort that resembles illness. But, is fear of withdrawal a valid excuse to continue a life of addiction?

Part 2 of the interview with James W Knox:
In the second half of our internet, the conversation shifts to more relevant topics regarding our day. The internet, its blessings, and its curses. How far should we, as Christians, take developing an online presence for the purposes of ministry? What are the inherent dangers, and are the dangers worth the risk?
With the explosion of online media comes the clash between world views. By 2020 our country appears to be deeply divided, socialism is on the rise, humanism is a new religion, and post-modernism is the predominant philosophy. The socialist, or sub-rate communists on the junior varsity squad, humanist and post-modernist have joined efforts in hopes they can rule the airwaves. As a result, they have created what is commonly called "cancel culture." Any ideas dissenting from the approved malleable opinions of social justice warriors may be subject to cancellation. That is, these groups will team up to spread whatever harmful information necessary, in mass form, across the web, with the intent of damaging dissenters and tearing down their life, business, or platform.
You have not shied away from preaching clear biblical truth regarding some very controversial subjects: Abortion, homosexuality, socialism, communism, marriage, divorce, etc. As a result of such preaching, as well as our public presence in Central Florida, Bible Baptist has had protests organized against them in an attempt to remove public ministry from the streets of Deland, can you tell us a little about the most recent situation?
Are you concerned cancel culture will get wind of your growing online presence? In light of this, do you edit your video content in any way to prevent the possibility of an online attack? How does cancel culture's ability to shut people down online these days differ from the days of radio?
The Dark Side of the Web:
As of 2019, there were 31 million YouTube channels (only channels with 10 subscribers or more were counted leaving an estimated 20 million uncounted). An average of 500 hours of video is uploaded every minute. More than five billion videos are watched on YouTube daily. More than 3.5 billion hours of watch time are recorded monthly on YouTube, and they have yet to surpass television. The average mobile user spends at least 40 minutes per day watching YouTube, and this number doubles on a yearly basis. 80% of YouTubes views come from outside the United States. The average American spends around ten hours per day interacting with a screen online. Do these numbers grieve you because of the time wasted or do they excite you as a potential outlet to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature?
The first-ever highly publicized internet concern was the explosion of pornography. It's not only problematic from a biblical perspective, but the fruit it has borne is devastating. Every second, an estimated 28,000 people are watching porn in some form online. Every second, more than $3, 075 is being spent on pornography online. Every day there are an estimated 38 million porn-related searches, which makes up 25% of all searches online. 35% of all internet downloads are porn-related. More than 47% of American families report pornography has disrupted their home in some way. Pornography increases infidelity in marriage by an estimated 300%. I don't believe I can name any other advancement, such as the internet, that comes with such potential for greatness, but also comes with serious potential for danger. How do you as a Pastor help your people navigate such minefields, and what instruction would you give people listening to this Podcast to help them refrain from being counted amongst such troublesome numbers?
While I hesitate to end on that note, I do hope this conversation is sobering for God's people. The internet should not be your only means of Bible interaction. When not faced with a pandemic, we have the responsibility to assemble ourselves together with like-minded believers. Personal interaction with God's people through fellowship is an essential aspect of the Christian life. One we are desperately missing in our current distress. The internet is a wonderful tool, but it comes with serious potential dangers. Furthermore, it is not a suitable replacement for real-world interaction.
The world has changed greatly since the days of radio preaching. Some of the changes have been beneficial and others have been detrimental. Yet, I have noticed lives that are built upon real physical relationships with real people seen in person on a regular basis are the strongest. Lives built-in virtual reality tend to shatter easily.

Addiction vs Disease: Debilitating Terminology If you have followed this series of podcasts thus far, you have learned of my distaste for the use of the term disease in reference to addiction. But, in my estimation, this idea needs to be thoroughly confronted if addicts are to receive the help they need. The assumption addiction can be approached as a disease dominates the rehabilitation industry. Experts on the subject, at least experts that are concerned with this approach, have suggested it will remain so due to functionality. That is, rehab centers understand they cannot prevent a person from doing what that person has decided.

I had the rare and wonderful privilege of sitting down with Pastor James W Knox of the Bible Baptist Church in Deland, Florida. The topic for discussion was the progression from preaching on the radio to preaching on the internet. Brother James gives insightful and well-illustrated ideas regarding the positives and the negatives of this progression. The Progression from Radio to Internet: Technology has made rapid advancements over the past fifty years. The debate rages whether these advancements have been good or bad. Regardless, our lives have become engulfed in technology. To some extent, it has enriched our lives by providing great conveniences and ease of access to information. In many other ways, technology has certainly caused great harm.
In the 1950s technology began to advance greatly. Ideas considered to be sci-fi movie material began to take real form. In the 1950's technologies like credit cards, microchips, computers, fiber-optics, video recorders, satellite, and the transistor radio, among many others, were invented.
I have to admit technology is an interest of mine. I enjoy seeing the advancements that have been made and I appreciate a well-made powerhouse computer or smartphone. But, I am also acutely aware of the responsibility that comes with such computing power and the accesses it provides.
When I consider your background and your involvement in radio and now moving into the digital age of internet preaching. I wanted to speak with you about areas where this can help a ministry or a life excel and areas where such technologies may hinder or harm. I would also like people to learn how you progressed over the years and gain some insight into your willingness to adapt when necessary.
You started at a young age preaching on the radio, and your active participation on the radio over the years have been a staple aspect of your service to Jesus Christ.
How old were you when you began preaching on the radio and how did you get involved in doing so?
Who were your radio preacher heroes over the years?
Another major aspect of your ministry over the years has been recorded sermons, you started out recording on tapes and sending them around the world for free.
Was the tape ministry an offshoot of the radio ministry or was it the other way around?
My understanding is the tape ministry came about when the door of opportunity for you to be a missionary in Ghana, Africa closed, can you tell us a little about what happened?
The tape ministry then became the CD ministry - was that as notable a transition as the digital age has shown itself to be?
Over the years, recording on tapes, Compact Disc, and eventually writing and giving away books: you gained the help of many faithful church members to assist in these ministries, how essential has their help been to you?
The world around us views advancement in cavillation in terms of technology, they seem to completely disregard the increase in moral deficiency and lack of quality in education. They point to technological advancements as proof that man is somehow evolving into this wonderfully accomplished creature. As Bible-Believing Christians, we tend to be thorns in the world's side by way of introducing sobriety to various conversations. Our inability to simply join the crowd and praise man's accomplishments frustrates them. But there are valid concerns regarding technological advancements thereby causing us to come along in a slow and cautious manner.

The Dark Continent:
Darkness is defined as the absence of light. Such a statement may seem, at first thought, commonplace. If that is so, why has Africa been so long regarded as the Dark Continent? Not due to darkened skin that covers beautiful faces, but rather spiritual darkness which covers the soul. Spiritual darkness would mean a lack of spiritual light, and no spiritual light means no access to Jesus Christ!
Africa has not long been without a gospel witness. God himself reveals in his word a desire for this majestic continent to receive the knowledge of the truth. We learn in the Bible of a certain Eunuch who served the Queen of Ethiopia. He was traveling from Jerusalem back to his home country. As he traveled in his chariot, he read the book of the prophet Isaiah. His heart was stirred as he learned of the man of sorrows. Isaiah continued, "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth."
Who indeed shall declare his generation in the dark continent? The lovely Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world, who will thrust this light into the darkness? Who even has such an interest? God does - it was the desire of God's heart that a Spirit-filled preacher by the name of Philip go to this Eunuch, and beginning at the same scripture he preached unto him, Jesus! This would be the start of a long drawn out battle between light and darkness for the souls of men across this expansive landmass. Africa's spiritual condition appears just as dark today as any time before, but her heart is still as receptive as the Ethiopian Eunuch. Africans across the continent still warmly ask "How can I lest some man should guide me?" But darkness persists so long as there is a lack of light, who will go and preach to them? Who will tell them about Jesus?

Human behavior is something people choose to do, not something that happens to them. The modern Western World lives with great conveniences. Conclusion:
From normal life as a teenager that excelled at whatsoever, he put his mind to, from a conservative business owner that stumbled upon a little light, to the prepper concerned the world would soon burn, eventually, his thirst and hunger for truth caused much light to break through the darkness.
As a result of our God's desire to give that light along with brother Justin's willingness to submit to that light, his sins were forgiven, he now has access to everlasting truth, and the body of Christ has added to its many members a faithful servant.

Plenteous Redemption WISDOM – The right use or exercise of knowledge; the choice of laudable (praiseworthy or commendable) ends, and of the best means to accomplish them.
WISDOM gained by experience is of inestimable value.
The dictionary definitions exemplify the inherent foolishness of suggesting that all truth is relative. If truth is simply relative to the situation or individual, why place such value on someone's ability to effectively exercise knowledge. Again, if all truth is relative then the millennial with holes in his ears and a bone through his nose is just as capable as the seasoned professional at making effective decisions. Despite wisdom, each individual should be able to make decisions, based on its relevance to themselves, and success should be the relative outcome. Of course, we know this is not the case. There are bad decisions and good, the proper exercise of the proper knowledge is what determines the negative or positive outcome.
When the proponents of this foolishness want their taxes done they find themselves an established accountant. When they need legal assistance, they seek out a lawyer that can properly exercise legal knowledge. When medical problems arise, they want the best doctor available. Best meaning; he is the most experienced and knowledgeable. They want to deal with experienced professionals that make factual decisions based on absolute truth.
Speaking in terms of our country, there has been a long and continual march of depravity through the mentality of our nation. Fervent detachment from God is made abundantly manifest in the prevalent lack of wisdom. This fact is so unapologetically true, from the heights of Inteligencia, all the way down to the common man, badges of honor are given in exchange for the hatred for God. Boastfully professing themselves to be wise, they are rewarded for becoming fools.
At full speed, we are heading in a lamentable direction. Large portions of our society live in a constant state of dependence on the sustenance of others. They lack intelligence and skills, not due to a lack of availability, but rather they did not see the wisdom in applying themselves to gaining knowledge or learning a marketable skill. Tax dollars pay for their existence, providing them an abundance of time. Idle hands that have forsaken wisdom lead to engraved patterns of destructive behaviors and habits.
Suicide rates, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, sexual perversion, gender confusion of the highest sort, perpetual financial ruin; peoples lives are amazingly unwise. Yet, they are still proud and boastful, a quick glance at social media will provide ample proof. They simply continue to exist, tossed about by vicious circles of calamitous behavior. Their only sense of worry in life is that time period between the arrest and the court date. Their greatest concern is accidentally standing before one of the few just judges that will ensure consequences are meted out. Life without wisdom is a self-centered life with no fear of God.

Drug Addiction: It’s Complicated
Drug use is unfortunately in large demand. From legal use, a result of manipulating doctors to receive the desired prescription. To the illegal user that knows which street corner to find their dealer. Drug use is actually a very complex phenomenon extent amongst mankind, and far too common. When I write or speak on such issues, I have two desires in mind. First is simplicity, breaking down situations or ideas into simple terms often exposes them. Secondly, in my desire to achieve simplicity, I don’t want to belittle the complexity that might exist. Loss of proper balance between the two can create misinformation regarding drug use and can cause users to perceive a lack of necessary compassion for their situation.
In the social media age, inaccuracies dominate the airwaves. Agenda along with politically charged philosophical postulates prevail over truth. In a world led by feelings, in defiance to facts, ideas regarding addiction have become perplexed. Realities based in evidence are replaced by stereotypes steeped in misinformation. Philosophies regarding addiction are formulated from the responsive opinions of addicts. The ability and willingness of addicts to manipulate are all too well known, thus forming theory regarding treatments from such input is absurd. But, welcome to 2020.
Reliance on responses and opinions of addicts as factors for treatment fails to balance that reliance by considering the motivation for such responses and opinions. Reviewing behavior in light of verbal response is very telling. For instance, an addict will often, in dramatic performance, explain how addiction is impossible for them to overcome. Yet, when a police officer enters the scene, they are suddenly able to put their addiction away. I once had a friend ask me what I think should happen to a mentally handicapped individual that performs some heinous criminal act. The basis of the scenario emanated from an assumption the mental handicap rendered the person incapable of understanding the evils they had performed. I asked my friend in response, “Did he do it in the open to be seen or did he hide as to make sure he was unseen?” If he did it openly, in full view of society, that might suggest to me the person may have lacked necessary understanding. Though it certainly is not definitively true. If the evil was performed in such a way as to hide, it suggests they understood full well the wrong to which they had employed themselves. Behavior matters greatly, what people say unfortunately is often unreliable. Especially in situations regarding addiction, with addiction comes the learned ability to manipulate.
As a result of this line of thinking, backed by biblical principles, I subscribe to an unpopular view regarding drug addiction. I hold to the idea that drug use is a choice made by an individual. Drug addiction is the result of a series of choices to maintain use over an extended period of time. I don’t believe it can be demonstrated on a large scale that doctors cause addiction, though I do believe a certain amount of irresponsibility has aided its existence. The burden of choice:
The world into which we bear our gospel is filled with irrational, self-destructive behavior. Christians often find this reality difficult to see from the pew of Bible-Believing Churches. We become naive to such trouble by fidelity to God’s word and repeated warnings from honest pulpits. Yet, individuals of this world are not so fortunate, their destructive behavior is often encouraged, not corrected. Without watchmen warning them of danger ahead, they’re ravaged by sin and tossed by every whim. Their own free-will and its resulting freedom of choice are the worst of enemies. A life of revelry along with indulgence in every seasonal, yet sinful, pleasure feeds their desire to awake and seek it yet again.
People need the Lord!
One distinct characteristic of man, further proving separation from animals, is with full conscious aptitude choosing to harm himself. One example is the autogenous (self-produced and self-generated) nature of drug use. When difficulties arise, with no friend that sticketh closer than a brother, man deceives himself into thinking substance abuse is the escape. They know not the Great Physician, they seek not his assistance. The choice is made to obscure difficulties through alcohol or drug use. Rather than bringing bodies into subjection, they give themselves over to a life dominated by uncontrolled feelings and addiction.
The disease and its cause:
Labeling addiction a “disease” has become the catch-all counterfeit explanation. How profound, an illness whose cause is snorting, smoking or injecting the object thereof. Just as ludicrous is the modern approach to treatment. Rehabilitation created a world in which addicts are coddled. Continued contraction of this unfortunate disease motivates money-making facilities to help subjects of this infirmity through their doors. The addicts and the rehab facilities alike work to help us understand addiction is just as incurable as cancer or GRID. Effectively expressing this idea relieves the addict from responsibility and fuels the rehab industries' greatest need: patients. Rough city streets and rehab centers are the perpetual ditch that addicts find themselves repeatedly falling into.
Addicts have mastered the art of manipulation and enjoy successfully practicing its methods of deceit. Sadly, societies and doctors have become the manipulated. This creates a vicious circle of revolving doors at treatment centers where the same faces pass through repeatedly, but rarely gain victory. Thousands of dollars are charged by these facilities to bring addicts in and diagnose them unfortunate victims of a deadly disease. The price to receive this diagnosis is so high only federal, state and local governments would be silly enough to cover the cost.

“The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.” Psalm 94:11 KJV. Perpetual performance anxiety now dominates our world. The trouble is that we are not dealing with a reasonable form of performance (Public Speaking, Musical Performance, Sports Performance, etc.). Social media creates a form of performance anxiety in which individuals of the selfie-generation compete against themselves. With viral hope, one selfie after another is offered to the social media gods.
Maybe the first one goes viral, or even the first couple, but the trouble comes when the social media titans that so admired that perfect selfie no longer takes an interest. The competition begins and anxiety performance follows! The desire of the selfie generation is to gain victory over the vicious circle of self-deception leading them to believe they can regain the number of likes they once achieved. Just as a heroin addict seeks their fix, the social media addict seeks that flood of dopamine to temporarily relieve them of their depression or anxiety. This may seem like a silly proposition, but the reality is this routine dominates the lives of many. At times to the extent that it fully controls them, just as the drug of choice dominates the behavior of the addict.
The doctrine of self-esteem:
The selfie generation is a product of the self-esteem doctrine. Their entire lives they have been told if you would just “esteem yourself” or “believe in yourself” then all would be well. If you would just “believe in your heart” then one emotional trouble after the other would fall, never to rise again. Proponents of these foolish ideas often give me a perplexed look when I ask them: “Would you tell Charles Manson to “believe in his heart?” If only he had “esteemed himself” more highly, maybe he never would have turned out to be the sadistic leader of a death cult. Of course, we know such a philosophy does not work due to its unbiblical nature.
This doctrine fails primarily, of course, because it is unbiblical. But it is necessary to try and establish some specifics rather than just simply making a dogmatic statement. The idea of “esteeming self” at no point takes into account the person that has made no attempt whatsoever to establish any sense of character or morality. They live life subject to their impulses, freely given over to the lusts of their flesh. This, of course, leads to disastrous outcomes of which the consequences can be very serious. Rather than receiving proper instruction concerning the destructive nature of their choices, they are told to “believe in themselves.” As a result, the person never gets the help they need. Instead, the vicious circle that is their life turns into a cyclone of sorts leaving destruction in its path.

Is Christianity not a sort of psychological crutch?
Questions are great, they reveal certain assumptions. As a Bible-Believing Christian that spends a goodly amount of time street preaching, preaching in prisons and preaching in rescue missions; I encounter many relevant questions. This one, in particular, reveals much regarding the thought process of the individual asking. Furthermore, the more common or repetitive a question is, I find they tend not to be original thoughts, but rather parrotings of the discontents of some other larger influence (College Professor, Hollywood Stars, News Media, etc.). Let’s consider a few assumptions made here. The first assumption, Christianity is a mere crutch for the many in life that are somehow halt or lame. A prop for the weak incapable of standing firm under the weight of life alone. The second assumption, psychologically impaired individuals compose the makeup of Christianity. As though sanity only exists in the secular world.
The crutch of Christianity?
The members of society that tend to provide such verbal pandering also often stumble to their cars in drunken a stooper. They don’t need Christianity when weekly religious rituals of depleting finances at the local bar or nightclub will suffice. I once preached outside one such place of enlightenment, a bar called “The Backdour.” (pronounced “back-door”). As one lewd fellow of the baser sort after another passed by, they zealously expressed their discontent with “my God.” I suppose he doesn’t mix well with alcohol.
Yet consider the assumption, especially coming from the masses that compose such groups. “I do not need a crutch like Christianity” they have glorious weekends of drunken frolic to assist their hobbling. They don’t realize their self-prescribed cure is just an extension of the frailty that is their life. When the highlight of a persons week consists of alcohol blackouts and perverse forms of sexual immorality, I would suggest far more than a crutch is needed.
Also, consider the crowd more dedicated to the religious use of alcohol than the weekend warrior. When preaching on the streets or in rescue missions, I encounter what society has dubbed “alcoholics”. The Bible calls them “drunkards” and deals harshly with such lifestyles. There have been fewer moments of illumination in life than when drunk homeless individuals boldly declare they have no use for Christianity. They are sad sights to behold, their lives ravaged, relationships cut off, employment long gone, no sense of personal responsibility, but they have an opinion regarding the validity of the Christian life.
No limiting the crutch?
The drunkard, whether speaking of the weekend warrior or the full-time over-achiever, are easy to pick on from a biblical perspective. The Bible is so clear regarding not only the abuse but simply the use of such substances.

Missionary Thomas Irvin: My Personal Testimony BIMI Missionary to the country of Uganda, Africa.
This testimony was given at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carthage, Tennessee.
For when we were yet without strength… My testimony stands out due to its abnormality. I grew up in and around Memphis, TN. I was consistently inconsistent concerning church attendance and spiritual matters. Fortunately, when we did attend church we visited gospel preaching Baptist Churches. Therefore, I grew up knowing the gospel, though I did not trust Christ until I was twenty-nine. With this brief introduction allow me to take you through thirty-seven years of personal history.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. I was born on September 24th, 1981 in Memphis, TN. I was stillborn to a sixteen-year-old homeless mother. My birthplace was the Med, which is kin to the city zoo. After resuscitation, the Lord saw fit to restore my life. Our lives together proved God’s word is true; starting a family in an unbiblical fashion produces a troublesome life. The Lord blessed me with a wonderful mother who was not slack concerning her responsibilities.
In January 2000 I joined the U.S. Air Force, escaping the rebellious and the bad city. By 2005 I was a civilian again. In 2006 I became a defense contractor in Saudi Arabia. While there I met an American Muslim family who gave up U.S. citizenship to live in an Islamic country. Fifteen hundred years of the fruits of Islam proved that to be a bad decision. A member of the family asked me a question I could not shake; “How does a person become a Christian?”
Until then, I assumed I was a Christian. I’m from the south, it never occurred to me that we must “become” Christians. This burst of light shone on my empty existence. I knew the answer to their question, I explained that all are required to trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The trouble is, I had never called upon the Lord.
Nevertheless, my curiosity was peaked, my heart was convicted, and I needed answers; yet I was still in Saudi Arabia. There was no pastor available, there was no church available, so I did what any sensible American would do in 2010; I turned to YouTube. Coming from Memphis the only Pastor I knew of was Adrian Rogers. He had a sermon online called “The Simplicity Of Salvation.” He made salvation so clear to me.
I struggled with the decision to call upon the Lord for nearly two weeks. I understood my twenty-nine years of baggage could not come with me into the Christian life. Considering what Christ suffered for me brought me to a final conclusion. I happily bowed my head and came to be identified with the “whosoevers” that have called upon the name of the Lord. Our Saviour is so wonderful; he reached down into Islamic darkness and saved a wretch like me.
And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; I left Saudi Arabia a saved man. From there the Lord led in such a way that Kristin and I are now BIMI missionaries en route to Africa. During my time in Saudi, I came to be involved in Mixed Martial Arts. From Saudi Arabia, I moved to Long Island, New York for my next training camp. While there, I found myself attending a Bible Believing Church. The Lord made clear to me Mixed Martial Arts fighting was not for Christians.
My MMA training sessions subjected me to certain lewd fellows of the baser sort as well as colorful music and language. My next fight was in America’s version of Rome’s arenas, sponsored by unsavory products. It became clear as a follower of Christ, I would have to put childish and spiritually unprofitable activities away. My replacement for Martial Arts training was standing on busy shopping corners to pass out gospel tracts. The weapons of my new warfare were not carnal. I became engaged in the good fight.
Living in Long Island, NY my savings dissipated. I began looking for work, but a background in aircraft armament systems was not exactly marketable. After diligent search, reality set in that living in New York was not sustainable. The company I worked for in Saudi Arabia called about a position in Egypt, I explained I would have to work out certain issues before considering the position. Primarily, I had only been saved one year and refused to isolate myself from the fellowship of the saints.
The Lord helped me find a faithful Bible Believing Missionary in Cairo, named David Gates. Excited about spending time with a missionary in Egypt, I accepted the job. On my way to Egypt, I was sent to the Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach for training. While there, I searched for a church to attend and found Bible Believers Baptist Church outside the Navy Base. In service, the pastor did something I found to be incredible, he preached line-by-line and verse-by-verse through the book of Acts.
It was refreshing, I stayed after church Sunday talking with Pastor Tim MacDonald for nearly three hours. He gave me a book and CD produced by James W Knox. The disc had brother James’ Bible School course “How to study and teach the Bible.” My life was greatly enriched! He taught me to unequivocally trust God’s word! His Bible-teaching gave me great confidence in God’s word.
Living in Egypt, encouraged to study, provoked to trust God, and serving the Lord with a missionary; the Lord gave me a taste of my future. Brother David and I spent hours nightly on the streets of Cairo witnessing. This was an exciting time, the Lord set my heart ablaze for missions. After one year in Egypt, my contract ended. I moved to Deland, Florida and started attending classes at the Deland School of The Bible.
I had been in Deland for one year when offered my last contract in Afghanistan. I spent the next seven months at Camp Leatherneck working with the U.S. Military. While there, the Chaplin allowed me to teach the Bible in the chapel each Saturday. This Bible study was open to anyone interested in coming. The same men came consistently, each of them was from Uganda. These men were wonderfully receptive to God’s word and captivated my heart, sparking the desire to learn about the need there.
I planned a trip to Uganda, my friends in Afghanistan made arrangements for me to preach daily while in Africa. The excitement was mounting then we received the news. President Obama was drawing down the war in Afghanistan. Instructions were given to prepare for an immediate return to the U.S.; this included canceling upcoming trips. I was devastated; it seemed to me the door was closed. As instructed I helped prepare for the return to the United States.
Returning to Deland, I eased back into Bible School and various church ministries. I also married the most wonderful woman God could give an undeserving man. We spent our evening dinners searching Google Maps for various countries to see who God had laboring there, all the while praying the Lord would show us where we could be used. One evening I received a message from a Ugandan man that I met in Afghanistan. The message detailed a series of Islands situated in Southern Uganda.
I searched the matter and found the islands situated on the Northern shores of Lake Victoria. This vast body of water demands reverence for its Creator. Northern Lake Victoria has eighty-four Islands known as the Ssese Islands. Kristin and I were unable to identify any missionaries laboring amongst those people. This was an answer to our prayer, the Lord gave us the desire of our hearts!
I contacted missionary Keith Stensaas in Masaka, Uganda. He is a second-generation missionary in Uganda, now more than twenty years. With zeal, I explained the desire of our hearts regarding Ssese. With reciprocated excitement, he offered to assist us along the way. He has done exactly that and more. We hold Brother Keith and Mrs. Sally in high regard and look forward to laboring with them. Starting under the guidance of an experienced missionary is foundational for us.
With his own hand, he leadeth me. I enjoy surveying my life, a man amongst the chiefest of sinners, and identifying the wonderful ways the Lord has led. Few men could be more undeserving, yet the Lord would use such an one as I to labor in his fields. My hope is the Lord’s people read this brief sketch of his workings in my life and will be encouraged to trust him more along the way. It is good for us to note these points in our lives, bringing them to remembrance, a memorial unto the Lord. May he receive the honor and glory due him in each of our lives.
