Here's the first single to be taken from the Folk Funk & Trippy Troubadours Volume one compilation by Paul Hillery in collaboration with RE:WARM RECORDS.

HERE: https://warmagency.bandcamp.com/album/folk-funk-trippy-troubadours-volume-one

Born in Wyoming and raised in Missouri listening to bluegrass and country music. Later, his nocturnal radio adventures helped him fall in love with southern soul. At fifteen Jeb Loy Nichols heard his first punk record and he was changed for good. In 1979 at 17 he received a scholarship to art school in New York. Dubbed ‘Fear City’ it was gritty, street-smart and a hotplate of new ideas. Punk was over but hip-hop was starting and Nichols became obsessed with this new musical expression. His first recording, in 1980, was an unreleased rap song called ‘I’m A Country Boy’.

In 1981 he visited friends in London and found himself living in a squat with Ari Up (from the Slits), Neneh Cherry and Adrian Sherwood, who put Jeb to work moving boxes of records across London. Sherwood and his complete disregard for genre purity have been one of Nichols biggest influences.

‘Sweet Sweet Stay Awhile’ was recorded around 2000, Jeb Loy - I wrote what I thought was a country song and imagined it having steel guitars and fiddles. When we got into the studio everything changed. I was working with the great bass player Wayne Nunes, who played with African Head Charge and Tricky, and he brought a new feel to it. It started to morph into something I hadn’t expected.

The track also features the backing vocals of the talented Loraine Morley, and was cut in a fast creative session and then, when finished, they had no idea what to do with the hybrid of British folk, American country, Caribbean bass, electronica and hip-hop. It sat around for 20 years before finally being released here.

Nichols is an American living on a remote Welsh smallholding. Dubbed ‘The high priest of country cool’ by Rolling Stone Magazine.

For the AA side of this one we have the wonderful analogue journey that is A Mountain of One's spaced out dubs of Bobby Lee & Mia Doi Todd - Walking with Trees. Mo & Zeben take this track by its scruff and give it a full-on tropical overhaul using crazy old fashioned dub techniques, stringing it out into a low-end slow-motion house dub ready for sun-drenched moments with sand between your toes and the smell of sun lotion on the breeze.

The strings and orchestration on this remix are reminiscent of some of our favourite 4hero moments from over the years. This one is set for summer glory by any standard.

With his first material in four years, Turtle's delicate, sparse, wondrous 'Heathland Haze' was specially recorded for the upcoming compilation 'Home - Volume One curated by Ali Tillett'.

Residing in deepest Scotland, Jon Cooper aka Turtle is an enigma. Some years ago both Ali and Jon were in contact but over the years had lost touch. One of the first artist names that sprung to mind at the start of working on the HOME compilation was Jon's. The music he makes paints a picture of a soundscape like no other. Once back in touch it was only a matter of time til' Jon had produced something that he thought would be the sound of the Heathland/Moorland habitat.

'Home - Volume One curated by Ali Tillett' is set for release on 3rd December; with Turtle joined by contributions from Âme, Bobby Lee & Mia Doi Todd, Coyote, Crack’d Man, Kirk Degiorgio presents As One, Fug, and Ewan Pearson's World of Apples project. The compilation's tracks align with specific habitats in the local Dorset area where Ali is situated, such as Harbour/Estuary, Heathland/Moorland, Woodland/Forest, and Beach/Cliffs. To immerse the listener even further into the soundscape, critically acclaimed sound and field recording artist Gary Moore, of Springwatch/Autumnwatch fame, has been involved to help bring nature even further to the ears.

Turtle "Heathland Haze" is out on November 17th digitally.

HOME Compilation on RE:WARM is out on Friday December 3rd

Fug 'From Little Seeds We Grow' Release Date: 20th October 2021 Label: RE:WARM Format: Digital

With their first material for over ten years, Fug's delicate and dark 'From Little Seeds We Grow' was specially recorded for the upcoming compilation 'Home - Volume One curated by Ali Tillett'. '

Twenty years on from their debut album release 'Ready For Us' and more than a decade since the follow up 'Procrastinate', Fug are back. After original band member and co-producer Bob Sadler left to pursue a legal career, full production duties have fallen to Tom Bailey. He's spent the last 25 years writing numerous scores for film, TV and animation, happily staying out of the spotlight. An avid collector of records and vintage synths and keyboards, he’s fast to justify this as the necessity to have a massive reference library and fine tools of the trade. Holding down the rhythm section on drums from the get go, Matt Klose is also a long serving member of Crazy P. Matt has also managed to forge a separate career in food, something the whole band shares a passion for. He has become a much loved chef, caterer, restaurateur and all round gourmand. In his own words: “All I do is drum, cook and cycle.” Jess Williams is the final, original band member and vocalist. As a successful screenwriter, she still finds time to renovate ancient Welsh property alongside being the main lyricist of the group. Joining as the newest appointed member on bass is John ‘Mingus’ Thomson, frequent collaborator, prolific session player and performer with too many renowned outfits to mention. ‘From Little Seeds We Grow’ is the first release from a new batch of songs the band have recorded, with a new album planned for completion in early 2022.

'Home - Volume One curated by Ali Tillett' is set for release on 3rd December; with Fug joined by contributions from Âme, Bobby Lee & Mia Doi Todd, Coyote, Crack’d Man, Kirk Degiorgio presents As One, Turtle, and Ewan Pearson's World of Apples project.

For RE:WARM 006 we present a collection of music from one of San Francisco's best kept secrets, Dr Robert Blackman. "The Unimaginable DreamWorks" is a collection of five tracks from three musical masterpieces he put out between 1983-1985 on his own Riverwinds imprint.

A practising chiropractor by day with his own holistic health centre in San Francisco, these songs became his love, passion and focus. Together with Michael Pluznick, a very accomplished percussionist they painstakingly put together an ensemble of musicians to bring the tracks to life. The melting pot for this body of work was Hyde Street Studios which still today is based in deepest San Francisco and has seen names such as Neil Young, Earth Wind & Fire and John Waters to name a few grace its studio space.

Singers and musicians alike came together from all over the world to bring Robert’s vision to reality. This included an Australian didgeridoo player, an electric violin and piano player from Paraguay as well as singers and a choir from the surrounding local churches.

Together through Dr Robert Blackman's eyes they created a fabulous sound of twisted disco punk funk like no other that still sounds relevant today as it did back in the eighties. The energy and the stories are clear to hear throughout the five tracks which make up "The Unimaginable DreamWorks” of Dr. Robert Blackman 1983-1985.

Artwork was key to the releases and the “Peace Is Alive” painting incorporated on the label of the release appeared in TIME magazine in 1984 when Dr Robert Blackman was treating combat vets, suffering from PTSD and this was the name of the job fair for veterans he set up.

To promote the album at the time Dr Robert Blackman flew up over San Francisco in a single engine prop airplane loaded with 50,000 leaflets. Strapped in at 500 feet the leaflets were dropped on the city of San Francisco! The following day, the media descended on his holistic health centre, called Riverwinds and in turn he was fined $1,000 for the cleanup!

Dr Robert Blackman's "The Unimaginable DreamWorks" is out on Friday May 28th both digitally and physically.

For RE:WARM 005 we present a slice of obscure, relatively under the radar gospel from Winston Neale that we discovered back in 2019 via his Flying High, private press L.P from 1986.

Winston Neale first learnt to sing gospel standards as a child via his mother the late Eloise Neale and went on to sing with the Bethel Gospel Church from the age of 6. Winston always had an ambition to release a gospel album and on relocating to Canada this became a reality. The Flying High L.P was the culmination of all he had learnt as a gospel singer, covering songs by Robert and Joyce Irvine & Rev. E.A. Hoffman / A.J Showalter amongst others on this record. The song we became most interested in was the "Sinnerman" track written by Winston and his wife, Susan, a haunting yet beautifully atmospheric slice of new gospel. Winston’s voice, taut hand drums, guitar, bass and flute all make this an essential piece of soulful gospel with a really distinct tropical feel.

To complete the project, we assigned remix duties to one of our favourite producer duos, Quiet Village. In Joel and Matt's own words they "loved the vibe of the original song, something the Japanese would label as 'free-soul' but with a beautiful floaty island feel like Jon Lucien." Utilising the powerful accapella, they decided to go down a more experimental path, to deconstruct the track using dub techniques for a modern 'Black Ark' style Quiet Village redux.

The package comes complete with remastered audio and new accompanying artwork paying homage to the original "Flying High" album cover.

RE:WARM 005 will be out physically and digitally on Friday March 19th.

For RE:WARM 004 we head to South Africa to welcome the amazing band, The Hurricanes to the label.

The Hurricanes comprised of Donald Mbowane, Albinus Sobekwa, Elias Sekete and Philip Marokoane. However over the years there were a number of variations in the band. They released a number of singles and EP’s throughout the 1970’s on RPM and Buffalo but they finally released their greatest hits in 1978 on Buffalo.

It’s from the greatest hits which was produced by Thomas J. Masingi that we have selected three wonderful tracks that show off the band’s phenomenal talent. The hugely sought after track “Sea Waves” will take over the A side with “Brother” and “She’s Got To Know It Well” on the flip. credits releases October 30, 2020

For RE:WARM 003 we head back over to the United States to welcome the wonderful songstress, Margaret Wakeley to the label.

Margaret Wakeley worked throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s as a solo pop/folk performer throughout the United States and Europe, and recorded two amazing records of original songs — Better Days and Margaret Wakeley. On these two timeless records Margaret worked alongside a number of talented and influential musicians such as Skip Lane and Cy Timmons.

It’s from the album “Better Days” that the tracks “So Hard To Be Away” and “Hard To Leave The Island” are taken from. Both tracks sail along with a flow that shows Margaret’s true musicianship and individuality. Sounding as relevant today as they did in the 1970’s and early 1980’s they have truly tried the test of time.

You can now pre-order the limited edition 7" and digital files at the Warm Bandcamp > https://warmagency.bandcamp.com/

The release will be out on Friday August 28th.

For RE:WARM 002 we head back to 1992 and over to San Francisco to bring you a timeless house record by Daisy Glow.

Daisy Glow is the collaboration between San Francisco house producers Mouse & Kelix Williams who formed as a spin-off from their live act Tasti Box. Their Daisy Glow guise which previously came out on ZoëMagik Records gave them the chance to make music inspired by full moon raves on the beach and Sunday afternoon raves in Golden Gate Park. In essence a musical reflection of the vibe and sound of San Francisco in the early 90’s. From these sessions came the Give It All EP. Over the last couple of years the EP has made it’s way back into a number of DJ’s record bags and was previously supported by the likes of Sasha and John Digweed back in the 90’s.

Sounding as relevant now as it did in 1992 the three tracks that comprise the EP sit easily in any house set to this day with their old school house sound. Each track having its own identity and all three being house music of the highest order.

Put together at 5am this morning when it was quiet and the world around looked still and peaceful and the drizzle was shimmering through the earl grey mist.

Music is a healer so I hope this might bring some joy to your ears amongst the craziness we are currently consumed within.

Stay strong!

Love to all x

A new series of selections / mixes from Warm residents Ali and Micky based around the simple premise of music for sunsets.

This mix series has come about due to the constant digging through each others collections and far beyond picking up records from all corners of the globe to add to their ever increasing musical libraries. It's also based around Ali's recent move to his new house which now has a view over Poole Harbour and the far reaching Purbeck Hills with fabulous sunsets in the evening and the nature that surround us.

Sit back and enjoy!
