Pseudo Slang (CHICAGO) is a jazz-esque hip hop outfit led by Emcee Sick including long-running collaborations with a slew of immensely talented folks like Pawcut, Dj Form, a Cat Called FRITZ, Rawhead and many more. PS boasts a lengthy catalogue of releases on labels such as Fat Beats Records, Sub-Bombin Records, ThinkLoud Records, Baby Steps Hip Hop, and more with an extensive 20+ year touring history through Europe, US and Canada.
This lil ditty explores our actual value versus our perceived value by inhumane profiteers who shamelessly market themselves as somehow the epitome of humane. The 2xlp album is available here at our psite: https://pseudoslang.com/what-the-neighbors-xxxxx/ In Buffalo New York there was a legendary decade-long weekly hip hop event called Baby Steps every Thursday night at a bar called Broadway Joe's where a whole scene formed & gathered ( and notably a certain young crew called Griselda cut their teeth). PS's Sickeeesick was the host & organizer, and that's where he met the excessively gifted emcee known as Ajent O who frequently rocked the stage, and never was anything short of raw af. Nothing's changed in that regard as evidenced on this "us assets" track examining these systems we scrap through and how it views us (and doesn't). We depreciate."... i make a mess grow tricky and weird, brazilian steakhouse beef how the grizzle get seared, we not scared never in here living in fear, it's frivolous here, I been used ta gettin dem jeers for years - ayyoo(!), did the baby steps next to westside..." - Ajent Ofrom What The Neighbors xxxxx?, releases September 15, 2023 Feat. Vocals by Ajent O (A.Johnson)
This is the first single off the Pseudo Slang x Pawcut "What The Neighbors -----?" 2XLP which is available here: https://pseudoslang.com/what-the-neighbors-xxxxx/ Asides from the underrecognized connective nature of hip hop music, the common bond between Pseudo Slang and Zen-Zin is the master-dirty-jazz-beat-crafter Pawcut. From New York, Chicago, West Deutschland, all the way to Sudan these music obsessed gents hunkered down into the hypnotic vibe section of the tune cavern system, where they found a smooth keysmith named Kai Alexander. Nitelites n Morninflights happened, you're the beneficiary, "... prost... santé... ch-cheers..."Mastered by Adrian Kobziar for Ohmstead Collective.Booking inquiries: stayup@pseudo-slang.comPStay looped: https://pseudoslang.com
Spontaneity is not only a hallmark of this album predominantly written & recorded on the move, but it is a signature of the touring life of Pseudo Slang, which this song embodies. In the case of “coo comfeee” it was conceived on a rendezvous with videographer Arvid Wuensch at Black Bird Studios who requested we write a one-verser to this pawcut baseline vibefest, so he could shoot a one-take video of the recording performance of it. Then only days later a couple hours away in Dortmund sickeeesick got to share a stage with the mega-talented Nilua, and it was only a some days after that that she graced the unmixed track with her abundantly dope vocal parts. Some months plus 4200 miles later in Chi-town with the album in home-stretch mode, during a smokey sesh with Kai Alexander he was compelled to lace the ivory in his smoov way soon as this cut hit the speakers. If our travels and relationships manifest into artifacts such as this, then staying sedentary seems dumb.Mastered by Adrian Kobziar for Ohmstead Collective.Booking inquiries: stayup@pseudo-slang.comPStay looped: https://pseudoslang.com
Sickeee and Pawcut get loose here lightening their "live from the qtine" album with a smooth refrain, you can pre-order the Cassette and/or secure the digi here: https://pseudoslang.bandcamp.com/album/live-from-the-qtine
Pseudo Slang (Chicago) x Pawcut (Deutschland) "Finesseful" A smooth reprieve from PS x Paw with winding associative lyricism by Sickeee woven through Paw's silky smooth, yet cracking beatcraftin'. This is the first song on the C-Side of their long-awaited Wanderverse 2XLP, an unveiling of sorts. As the world is on a strange path this song resets the vibe to an explorative variety of chill with some force to it: "... some essential, dirty stack instrumental, coincidentally administer the remedy, fitting in the rhythm in a way they haven't heard..." “WhatWeerDealinWit" features a measured but forceful exposition by Emcee Sick candidly reflecting on the high-and-low-lights of his path, including victories and shortcomings, substantial and minor. Emotion is palpable, but digressions sidenote struggles with earnest celebrations of the understated variety. Pawcut cracks forward-driving dusty drums, that push lush keys which climb and descend, giving way there and again to a woman’s voice emoting in the ether.
“... some sh^* I’ve done was the bravest and other times was cowardly / but that’s just how it be, we all hide in dichotomies, when I was young I used I think knew how a guy should be! I run off the top write quite a fly lobotomy, trying not to let my text message sound bother me...”
This is the 2nd song on the C-Side of the first full-length from kindred collaborators Pseudo Slang x Pawcut entitled Wanderverse (2XLP + Digi) which drops May 1st 2020
basso embodies the "Wanderverse" full-length album's wandering nature as Sick dips, dives, zigs-n-zags through associations, both of the daily life and existential varieties with no seams between. Conclusively basso closes the C-Side of Wanderverse with a boom as Pawcut drops the tempo along with his signature dirty jazz nastiness you have, or will, come to crave.
Written and recorded on tour like so many PSongs, this one specifically with Pawcut at Black Bird Studios in West Germany, has Sickee settin it in non-replicable, freewheelingly-raw, poetic fashion.
basso is the 3rd song on the C-Side of the first full-length from Pseudo Slang x Pawcut entitled Wanderverse (2XLP + Digi) which drops May 1st 2020**
Here's the whole the whole C-Side of the record FREE of charge in high-resolution WAV. During these strrraaannge days we are all going through, hopefully it can provide some respite: www.pseudoslang.com/free lyrics "Be sure you got the right amount of papers, cuz uck around I might write ya right outta papers, take ya / on a mission with we, you see the capers under / way its stated I ain't one to play with your blunders aren't / really my thing, but if they come its about how you get up / better to have swung and missed than bitchin about how this or that wasn't right..." - sickeeee
The young jazz guitar-savant Matt Gold (Makaya McCraven, Sun Speak) graced the PStudio so smoothly angular it's a bit of an issue on this true Wanderverse song which is certainly what we call a "walking joint" in the spirit of maybe a hip hop Peanuts of sorts (a la Charlie Brown). Surely if you wanna walk with a joint definitely doodat 🍃💨 but please make sure to be mindful of local public puff puff'in laws so jahleo doesn't walk you into a fine or arrest - nahh mean? 😉
This is an unabridged trip of a song through daily associative thought digressions with paw, sick and young mista gold - bon appetit! "... I like lingerie that's see-through if that's okay / to say in this way, in modern day / got kinda faded last night but it was pleasurable as hellllll / you know the sickeee he could rock well / y-y-yeah-yeah care more than a bear seeing a picnic / this is just a sort of a / pair you could get with / paw sick, funkier than gettin carsick / I thought I was agnostic / but I believe, all sorts of shhhh..."

This is a fittingly trippy teaser of the forthcoming album Wanderverse, a collaboration between Pseudo Slang and Pawcut, but this "snip-mix" has managed to become its own work of art once the wormhole was entered and an hour became 10 minutes or so.
