Senior Sergeant from the Merredin Police filled us in on the cases of vandals causing damage in town, both at the Pioneer Cemetery and at the Vietnam War Memorial in Roy Little Park, there is good news in that the culprits have been found. Whilst Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan was in town, the question of funding cuts to CRCs couldn't be avoided and she has said cuts need to be made to cater for “really, really important” investments. There's been a decision made not to award the Ross Glendinning Medal in this Sunday’s western derby at Optus Stadium — a call that had West Coast and the Dockers at odds last night, apparently it's because of a change in the sponsorship agreement with Carlton & United Breweries. There is a family in Mundijong with three young children, and two of their children have been diagnosed with MLD “Meta-chromatic Leuko-dystrophy”, an inherited genetic disease with no cure, only treatment to extend life and slow down the disease. There’s a 1 in 40,000 chance of having the gene, with 1 in 4 chance of passing it to your children. Skwid had a chat with me this morning from Guardians of Innocence Perth and they are hosting a ride this weekend that is going through our Avon region to raise funds for this family in need. A report has found instability at our only WA juvenile detention centre with affected proper delivery of education services. The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services report, released yesterday, found education was "one of the biggest casualties" of a lack of strategic direction at the Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre.
