Doreen Kellam joins us for a “talk” today because she has the most masterful assessment and interpretation of the character “Destiny” from my book, “THE HEART IS A REAL PLACE”. Her interpretation is so profound and head-on, that it astonished me! In fact it provides me—the author of the book, with an observer’s view of what I created with the character “Destiny”—that enlightened me. I presented the character with intentionality and purpose but it is Doreen’s interpretation that defines that purpose.
As the culture grieves collectively the loss of Malcolm Jamal Warner—it’s okay to experience your feelings—despite (many of us) not knowing him personally. We’ll process this loss (grief) collectively, individually and differently—based on our own realities. And it’s never okay to judge or tell anyone when, how, and who they should grieve. Each individual has their own “Heart-PLACE” from which they express grief and all other manner of life-decisions—emotional decisions included. “Emotional disconnection is not a spiritual discipline. Emotion is an active ingredient in your spiritual life, so the wise move is to take good care of your heart.” (Phillips, A. Dr., (2023), So, live and love well—tend to your heart for it houses the vicissitudes of this life.

This intelligently candid talk with Mrs. Tewantae Green-Douglas is enlightening, empowering and inspiring. Even as an older woman—I am inspired by her words and wisdom! “Culturally we must be a resource to our neighbors” in our communities. And if we don’t do the work—we can’t be an overcomer from those things that would otherwise keep us bound and behind.
We can’t continue to minimize the impact of traumatic experiences—and the necessity of therapy. “The gift of therapy is communication because oftentimes—communication is what we are missing.”
Do the work to be your best—give yourself to cause—and do so unapologetically!
For many years now, I have been writing books about my life—trials, trauma, heartbreak, heartache—healing, growth—and triumphs. And though I have shared these stories from the perspective of my adulthood—I never returned back to the one person that needed acknowledgement, healing and love spoken into her—so that she could finally get her closure. The “little girl” that held on to me—the “girlie” that deserved more love, attention, and protection than what was afforded her. She finally gets her Love Letter.🌹
Thank you! Although, this is an impromptu—interim response to varied responses, feedback and specific questions concerning the two quotes that I shared from our last Podcast, “Love by Any Other Name”, and the reference to my upcoming book project—We hope you enjoy it. And our hope is that you will join us for the official “LIVE” esp. 2 from “Love by Any Other Name.” That date will be announced soon! We can’t wait to join you for Talks@Christie’s Place.

When our plans for tomorrow are seized by something today. I have new (personal) revelation about “boasting” about tomorrow. There is something that you need to do today—- perhaps get started today because it can’t happen tomorrow.🌹🙏🏾
As I pondered my first broadcast of the new year, the topic of Christmas, God, the gift-Jesus being the genuine Hallmark of Love rose to the top.
Giving birth to that “thing” that is within you—that thing—your purpose, requires reflection, response, and resilience. Your journey in life is aligned to your purpose and regardless of the obstacles, challenges and setbacks that will inevitably happen— you can push your dreams, visions and creativity into life. Be reflective, be responsive, and be resilient.
