In May of 2022, Barkan and 6 others broke into the Elbit Systems plant in Bristol England to stage a protest. They damaged the equipment and spray painted "Free Palestine" onto the walls. He was found guilty in February and currently awaits sentencing.

Alex Salazar is a former LAPD cop. He talks about his time as an officer during the Rampart scandal- and about how racism, lying, and "sociopathic" behavior brainwashed him into being what he calls a "super pig". He now conducts investigations into civil rights issues.
There are two pieces of anti trust legislation going with Congress right now. We discuss them and also the out comes of the California primary.

A former Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps, Deputy District Attorney, and Special Assistant United States Attorney, Pete Hardin has a keen interest in reforming issues with things like cash bail, and over aggressive prosecution against some groups. He also has ideas on how to fix qualified immunity and victims rights.
He is running against a right wing incumbent who has recently come under fire for overt racism.
We spoke with Marc Mixon on developing a third party in the state of Washington. Their goal "is to represent the interests of the majority and to create a system that values each person and supports economic and social justice for all". They will start running candidates in the next election cycle.
Between June 2019 and June 2020, Forensic News published several articles and a podcast about the business affairs of British-Israeli security consultant Walter Soriano, after he was summoned by the US’ Senate Intelligence Committee. In response, they were sued by Soriano. Although the defendants are all based in the United States and Forensic News is incorporated in the state of California, the lawsuit has been brought in London.
“We believe that the lawsuit that has been brought against Forensic News is a SLAPP,” the undersigned organisations said. SLAPPs abuse the law in order to silence critical coverage on matters of public interest" the Council of Europe Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists stated in their press release in support of Forensic News.

Tatiana Turner is currently i jail because she is unable to make an exorbitant one million dollar bail.
Turner is a BLM activist that attended a rally in Yorba Linda last September. Trump supporters showed up in numbers that day and were quite hostile. At one point they surrounded Turners car and she called 911. She received no assistance so tried to drive away in a panic hitting a man and a woman. Trump supporters smashed the back the window of her car- prompting her to panic further. She contends she feared for her life, yet DA Todd Spitzer claims she intentionally tried to kill the Trump supporters.
Sean Beckner-Carmitchel spoke with Turner over the phone about justice, the movement and the events in Yorba Linda.
We spoke with activist General Jeff on the issues currently surrounding the unhoused in Los Angeles and recent events in Skid Row.
Tracy is not only a nurse, but also is the Director of PPE Now LA- an organization dedicated to providing front-line healthcare workers, protestors and the unhoused with both hygiene and protective equipment during the Pandemic. Los Angeles has been experiencing record numbers of both cases and deaths, with intense lock-downs being instituted throughout the County as well as the state of California at large. Sean Beckner-Carmitchel discusses her role with PPE Now LA as well as the intensely difficult experiences that front-line healthcare workers are dealing with. She also gets into advice for how to protest safely, her views on how the government has failed us and what we can do to protect ourselves and the unhoused residents of Los Angeles.
This week in the studio, Sean Beckner-Carmitchel joins Tina-Desiree Berg. Eman Padilla was arrested not far from a protest outside Sheriff Alex Villanueva's home in Los Angeles County on November 18, 2020. At that time, he was told there was a warrant for his arrest and charged with Attempted Train Derailment- a charge that holds a maximum of life imprisonment. He was also informed that it was related to his allegedly leaving a temporary barrier- which LASD brings out with regularity and uses- on top of train tracks. His wife was also detained the following week for charges related to her car registration. While she was detained- the LASD ransacked their home. DA Gascon dropped the charges shortly after taking office.

I spoke with local anti-fascist activist Erik Boyd about his recent experiences and why he has taken up the cause of fighting white supremacy. As a local of the Sunland-Tujana area in Los Angeles, he grew up in an area with neo-nazis and some Peckerwoods.
Shana East introduced an amendment to the Democratic Party Charter, entitled "Expanding Democracy by Increasing Voter Participation" detailing just some of the issues that took place during the 2020 Iowa Caucuses, where she served as a Precinct Captain for the Bernie Sanders campaign. She, and others, were on a call the night before the meeting with Jeff Weaver, in which he asked them to drop their amendments since they had made a deal with the Biden campaign. She dropped two- and kept this one. She also witnessed Biden members of the committee call Bernie members children.
Recently a member of the Echo Park Neighborhood Council lynched a statue on his front porch upsetting both stakeholders and neighbors. He called it art and played the victim. Neighborhood council member Lauren Buisson joins the podcast to discuss this and other issues facing this historic neighborhood adjacent to downtown Los Angeles.
Iz recounts his story of what went down at the Los Angeles BLM protest. Iz is an ex-marine who came out to peacefully protest and ended up at Cedars Sinai with a brain bleed after being struck in the head with a rubber bullet. Tina-Desiree Berg spoke with Iz and his step father Nelson in their home.

If not for Marisol’s tireless advocacy on her daughter’s behalf against an unresponsive and dismissive health care system, her daughter would likely not have survived. The Orange County District Attorney Debate sponsored by the bar association was held in Fullerton this week. Here is the full debate between the current DA Todd Spitzer and challengers Pete Hardin, Bryan Chehock and Mike Jacobs. Both Hardin and Chehok were the winners and showed a deep understanding of the problems facing our criminal justice system.
Spitzer verbally went after BLM activist Tatiana Turner who was sitting in the first row multiple times. Turner is being over-prosecuted by his office for protest actions. The moderator- who has donated 16k to Spitzers campaign and was a groomsman at his wedding, eventually had security throw her out for coughing. Meanwhile, Spitzer fans called her a bum and disgrace with no recourse. We interviewed Turner from prison on a previous episode if you are interested in more details on her prosecution.

This teacher from Watts High School is turning her district on its head by confronting environmental injustice head on. She has been endorsed by Bernie Sanders and serves as an e-board member in the California Democratic Party. The incumbent, ex police officer Mike Gipson, has taken approximately $175,000 from fossil fuel companies- but thinks that is not a problem. You decide.

This week SCOTUS heard the case Dobbs v Jackson. This case- centered on Mississippi's Gestational Age Act- looks at fetus viability. Viability is the central holding in both Roe and Casey. The Fifth Circuit unanimously blocked the Mississippi law from going into effect because both cases bar states from banning abortion before fetal viability.

Sheriff’s deputies chased and shot a security guard in the back multiple times at an auto repair shop in Los Angeles named Andres Guardado. He was just 18. Security footage shows that Guardado was kneeling with his back to the deputies, posing no threat whatsoever, when he was shot. Miguel Vega, the officer who fatally shot Guardado, had previous complaints against him. The officers claim that Guardado had a gun- but there is no evidence that that is true. The Sheriff’s Department has been accused of criminal misconduct in handling the case. They point to the fact that Sheriff Deputies ripped security cameras off the walls of nearby buildings and took them. Andrew Haney, manager of Freeway Auto Shop, where Andres worked as a part-time security guard, said the Sheriff’s Department took security footage from his shop without a warrant, and Memo Torres of nearby LA Taco had a video showing where security cameras were broken off the walls.

A coalition of progressive candidates backed by the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America took over the leadership of the Nevada Democratic Party on March 6 and swept all five party leadership positions in a contested election. Judith Whitmer was elected chair. The establishment had moved $450,000 out of the party's coffers and into the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s account. The DSCC plans to use the money toward the 2022 reelection bid of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a first-term Democrat. The staff members who resigned included the party’s operations director, research director, communications director, and finance director.

Tatiana Turner is currently i jail because she is unable to make an exorbitant one million dollar bail.
Turner is a BLM activist that attended a rally in Yorba Linda last September. Trump supporters showed up in numbers that day and were quite hostile. At one point they surrounded Turners car and she called 911. She received no assistance so tried to drive away in a panic hitting a man and a woman. Trump supporters smashed the back the window of her car- prompting her to panic further. She contends she feared for her life, yet DA Todd Spitzer claims she intentionally tried to kill the Trump supporters.

This week in the studio, Sean Beckner-Carmitchel joins Tina-Desiree Berg. Eman Padilla was arrested not far from a protest outside Sheriff Alex Villanueva's home in Los Angeles County on November 18, 2020. At that time, he was told there was a warrant for his arrest and charged with Attempted Train Derailment- a charge that holds a maximum of life imprisonment. He was also informed that it was related to his allegedly leaving a temporary barrier- which LASD brings out with regularity and uses- on top of train tracks. His wife was also detained the following week for charges related to her car registration. While she was detained- the LASD ransacked their home. DA Gascon dropped the charges shortly after taking office.

A lifelong Democrat, Rodolfo left the party after 2016, when it became clear that the Democratic Party is a party that is owned by the same corporations that own the Republican Party. It's time for new political parties in this country. Rodolfo supports the full repeal of the Patriot Act, which is actually an anti-Constitutional takeover of Americans' 4th Amendment rights. He also supports the abolishment of the CIA, DHS, NSA, FBI, and all prisons. We are supposed to be "the land of the free"—but these institutions conspire against that.

There seems to be an inexplicable bias in the media when it comes to polling and Bernie Sanders. We have seen consistent headlines in which Bernie is ignored while candidate who poll lower are discussed. Recently the Public Opinion Research Lab at the University of Florida decided to just leave Sanders out altogether. What gives? Barrett Brown, whose column received the 2016 National Magazine Award for columns and commentary at The Intercept, is the founder of Project PM, a crowd-sourced investigation into the cyber-industrial complex. His writing has also appeared in The Guardian and Al Jazeera. In 2012, the FBI raided his house, and later that year Brown was indicted on 12 federal charges relating to the 2011 Stratfor hack. The most controversial charge, linking to the hacked data, was dropped, but in 2015 Brown was sentenced to 63 months in prison.

Bill Corbett is an American writer and performer for television, film and theatre. Peter Douche is a parody of a parody.
To those who don't know the backstory, Peter Douche gained notoriety after being permanently suspended from Twitter and sentenced to life in Twitmo for speaking too much truth to power. To avoid his sentence, he has been sequestered in an Ecuadorian Cafe inside of Embassy Suites. In response to the outrageous ban, the online campaign #FreePeterDouche trended on Twitter. The story of his censorship has been highlighted by The Jimmy Dore Show, Julian Assange, and numerous progressive outlets.
When Peter was unjustly censored, he pledged to use the attention his situation received to expand his voice. "An Inconvenient Douche" is the result. This book is not about Peter Douche's personal story, rather it's an assessment of our current political landscape, as seen through the eyes of a three-time losing political strategist of color.

Jeffrey Ventre is a medical doctor in Washington State. Prior to becoming a physician, he worked as a marine mammal trainer at SeaWorld from 1987 to 1995, spending seven years with cetaceans and one year with pinnipeds.
In June of 1996 he joined orca scientists Ken Balcomb and Astrid van Ginneken for Orca Survey, an ongoing photo identification study of the Southern Resident population of killer whales in the Pacific Northwest. Seeing killer whales in the wild radically altered his perspective on keeping these animals in captivity and led him to be a co-founder of the advocacy group Voice of the Orcas (VOTO).
He has co-authored several science-based works and articles, which can be found at this website. He is featured in the documentary Blackfish and the book Death at SeaWorld. He also helps organize the annual whale watching event and symposium called Superpod6 in the San Juan Islands.

Adam Baumel is a progressive running for the Assembly in District 64.
Adam served in the Navy from 2009-2013. When the time came for Adam to end his active service, he knew it was time to make his life long dream come true. He was ready to focus on his future, and New York City. He applied to John Jay College, where he majored in Political Science. He did not see this major just as a career path, but rather a chance to give back to the people, and the city that gave him so much hope, and power to dream big as a child.
In 2014-2015, he spent a year participating in a Veteran Affairs work-study program. Here he aided fellow student veterans with getting set up in school. Also educating them on resources the school offered, along with beginning the some times arduous process to receive VA healthcare.
In 2016, he had the privilege of taking part in the New York State Assembly internship program where he worked in the Albany office of assembly member, Michael Benedetto from The Bronx who was the Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee at the time. During this time Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was indicted for campaign finance charges, and in the following months Senate Maj. Leader Dean Skelos was brought up on similar charges. This was a turning point for Adam, like most people he knew the government had flaws but not like this. He has since made it his mission to help get our government on the path to respectability and legitimacy.
Although he has lived in numerous areas across different boroughs, he has settled in the 64th district. This where he has chosen to plant roots, and build a life. As your assemblyman he will encourage an actual open door policy, where constituents will be able to reach their rep without jumping through hoops. He plans to create efficient communication with the intention to keep you in the loop regarding upcoming legislation at all times.

Tim Canova is a law professor that works in the area of economics and international trade. He served on Senator Sanders economic reform committee in 2011. He is currently running as an Independent against Debbie Wassermann Schultz in Florida.
In the 1990s, while an associate attorney at a prominent law firm and then as a visiting professor at the University of Miami, Tim opposed efforts to weaken the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act firewalls that had separated commercial banking from the risky securities markets. He also cautioned about the rise of complex derivative financial instruments that were turning the United States into a “casino” economy. In the early 2000s, Tim warned about the growing bubble in housing prices and called for increased supervision of Wall Street banks and financial markets. He was one of the few law professors in the country who consistently opposed Alan Greenspan as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, including a 1996 op-ed in the New York Times opposing Greenspan’s reappointment.

Scott Charles is the Trauma Outreach Coordinator for Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and is Director of TUH's Cradle to Grave Program, an award-winning hospital-based violence prevention initiative that illustrates the harsh realities of gun violence for public school students and adjudicated youth. The move which contravenes 20 years of precedent and years of peace work in the region has sparked controversy. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee and was twice appointed by President Obama to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom in 2013. In addition to writing a weekly column published in 12 countries, Zogby is the creator and host of the award-winning call-in political television show “Viewpoint,” and is frequently featured on national and international media as an expert on Middle East affairs. In 2010, Zogby published the highly-acclaimed book, Arab Voices.
