They consider both the positive and negative effect the national lockdown may have had on learners, in regards to their ability to self-regulate their learning, and ways we can develop their metacognitive skills in the classroom.

Video footage to accompany this podcast is available to view (Honywood staff only) in the Podcast drop down tab at the top of the page under ' Learning Podcast', 'Accompanying Videos'. In this episode we discuss the theme of feedback and guidance, a topic we have visited and revisited as a school on a number of occasions, but which can often provide a number of challenges around quality, quantity, consistency, expectation and learners' value and appreciation. David Calver discusses some of these challenges with Abbi, Kelly and Sophie from English, Jonny from E&S/Business Studies and Kate from Science. Each of these subject teams have recently implemented or are currently in the process of implementing policies for feedback and guidance and the conversation covers thew challenges and aspirations for these teams in terms of improving the quality, consistency and impact on learners of feedback and guidance.
In this podcast we discuss what motivates people to get involved with coaching and the impact of using IRIS as a tool to enhance classroom practice. Host, David Calver, is joined by Ellen Pearce and Sharon Palmer, who have kindly agreed to share their own coaching journeys so far.
Lena and Clay discuss the most recent research on Feedback and Guidance. The findings are summarised and strategies offered to colleagues who may be looking to implement new strategies or marking policies.
Following on from the Whole Staff Learning Behaviour Management role play session, our podcast looks at the supporting research on behaviour management strategies , what has shown to be effective and hopefully some strategies to trial with your classes.
We also catch up with Abbi McPhail and discuss her excellent contribution to the recent mock session, where she was really put to the test by a number of challenging 'learners'.
Lena Putter has a fascinating conversation with Maria about her journey through education and how it all turned out to be a bit 'backwards', with details on the book she has written and the Action Research she has done internally at Honywood.
Lena talks to staff about their November Partnership visits. Colleagues reflect on the schools they went to visit, how this linked to their action research and how this has made an impact on their teaching practice.
The first interview features Camilla Howard and Sam Armstrong who went to two different schools and the second is with Matthew Wood and Aidan Tolhurst, who both went to the same setting.
We were joined by Sam Armstrong, Russell Flanders and Dr Maria Jagiello, who has a very interesting and informative conversation with Lena Putter on how they have started their Action Research. Listen as they discuss how their action research titles are linking to their November Partnership visits and how they are preparing so that these visits form an important part of their research.
A conversation with Ellen Pearce, Richard Hornsby and Dr Jagiello, lead by Lena Putter and Clay Harrison about how they came up with their themes and action research titles.
Lena Putter and Clay Harrison discuss the barriers of pace in learning sessions and share their findings on suggested strategies that aim to inject pace into learning sessions, with a focus on the new 75 minute learning sessions starting in September.
Kate Guy also shares her current strategies for pace that are proving to be effective in her science sessions.
