I am your host, John Ashley Menzies, and welcome to the Keep On + Make Haste Podcast. This is a podcast that documents my journey of creating a consulting company based on my problem solving and personal development strategy.
Keep on as you have begun, and make all possible haste, so that you may have longer enjoyment of an improved mind, one that is at peace with itself. - Seneca
When we're moving from fourth gear to fifth, there is a lot of effort to be exerted. That final push is all about the work we do and how we do it.
Today we talk briefly on why none of this is a checklist. You need marching orders, sure. But your checklist is different than someone else's. If you download someone's five steps to a 7-figure agency. You're working their list, and not yours. That's why you're frustrated.
Always remember to stop and smell the roses .... or pick up a rock. Some days it isn't about process flows and understanding how to properly build anything. It's about putting a smile on someone's face. Share joy with someone today.
Creating something from scratch can be exhausting. Not just because of lack of sleep, but because you're using your brain differently than normal. Just like with weightlifting, it's all about getting the reps in and being aware of how you're responding to it.
When I look at foundation work and building proper systems a couple of things stand out to me. The first is how often we dismiss the easy stuff. But when we do that, we leave room for mistakes down the line.
In today's musings, I work through thinking about "how we produce" being foundational because it causes us to slow down. We have to be patient while building foundations.
Production is the motor the generates our product for our customer. We know that. However, as we move into "how we produce," I don't want us to forget that the people we bring into our system must match our why and values to ensure the system runs smoothly.
Today, I wonder how to market and sell a service while also staying true to my values and not feel like I sell my soul for some ad space.
I really wanted to do a good podcast today talking about Mindset again. Because there is so much more to it than just fluffy. But it just did not happen. Beyond technical difficulties, it's a very hard concept to wrap your head around for just a couple of minutes. So, today is just a day where we accept I wasn't vulnerable to the point I needed to be to talk about it. But it is definitely something that will constantly be on my mind to talk about.
Sometimes failures happen. That doesn't mean the story is over or that you truly didn't succeed. It just means you need to learn more. Reverse engineering failure gives us key insight into building your proper foundations and where we need more support.
Mindset often seems very fluffy. But it is more than just fancy words to fill the self-help section of bookstores. It's foundational. I thought about that a lot.
Today is the first episode of the Keep on + Make Haste podcast, and I am your host John Ashley Menzies. Bare with me through the early stages of development here :)
I take a look at motivation and momentum to help keep from being overwhelmed by our greater desires that can often seem so hard to overcome.
