Cindi Boston sits down with Elizabeth and Ben, parents of a beautiful baby girl who was saved through the Abortion Pill Rescue® Network. Facing an unplanned pregnancy and lacking the support that they needed, the couple found themselves arguing about the decision of whether to have their baby or to choose abortion. While at Planned Parenthood (and after swallowing the first abortion pill), Elizabeth received a text from Ben — “Get out of there. We can do this.”

In Part 2, Carole Novielli and Jor-El Godsey expose the dark agenda behind the more recent push for chemical abortion on vulnerable young women, forcing them to play doctor, nurse and pathologist as they take the abortion pills alone at home with little to no medical oversight. Despite the risks of these pills, many major medical organizations support easy access to abortion, and complications related to chemical abortion are often overlooked or go unreported. The complicit media clearly has a bias towards abortion, even citing statistics out of context as they seek to blame pro-life laws for women who are harmed during an abortion.

Lisa Bourne provides updates on legal cases involving Abortion Pill Reversal in states like New York, where a federal judge recently issued a preliminary injunction blocking Attorney General Leticia James from preventing pregnancy centers from offering APR to clients. Abortion is on every ballot this year in the United States, and understanding the advantages of early voting is critical. Christie Robertson, CEO of the Arkansas Pregnancy Network joins Beth Diemert to explain how her state coalition recently launched a statewide telehealth program to connect with women who have questions about their pregnancy options. Christie shares the hopes and hardships of this project as well as the “nuts and bolts” of where to begin. Launched in Feb. 2024, the telehealth program in Arkansas is helping to reach women by offering a local pro-life medical presence in the digital world and increasing the speed-to-care by being there when she needs it, where she needs it.

In one particular case, a federal judge has granted a temporary injunction, blocking legal action against Pregnancy Help Organizations in New York that offer information on Abortion Pill Reversal to clients. Lisa brings us information on a few other legal cases, in addition to some of the stories behind clients who chose to reverse the chemical abortion process, saving their baby’s life.

Heidi comes from a background as a NICU nurse and now works in ministry to serve families with babies facing a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis. In this episode, we highlight one of the features of the website, PrenatalDiagnosis.org, which allows site visitors to connect with a Parent Care Coordinator (PCC). PCCs provide a free service of practical guidance, information, and referrals to parents facing a prenatal diagnosis for their unborn child, continuing a year after the child’s birth.

One Parent Care Coordinator, Shelley Hauter, comes from a background in both nursing and pregnancy center leadership, and now ministers to families through PrenatalDiagnosis.org. Shelley shares stories of what it is like to walk this journey alongside parents, and how this ministry is an essential part of the pregnancy help movement.

Lisa Bourne, Pregnancy Help News Managing Editor, gives us a look at Heartbeat International’s recent Pregnancy Help Institute and Love Approach Ultrasound Clinical, which provided professional training for directors, fundraisers, leaders, and nurses working the the pregnancy help setting.

Lisa also updates us on recent court cases. Heartbeat International filed an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Alliance Defending Freedom and South Carolina in their case against Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. This came after the state of South Carolina decided to discontinue association with Planned Parenthood as a Medicaid provider in the family planning program. We now wait to hear if the Supreme Court will hear the case in what could potentially be a big win for the pro-life movement.

Pregnancy Help News Managing Editor, Lisa Bourne, brings us updates on the two lawsuits that involve Heartbeat International regarding Abortion Pill Reversal. Heartbeat International also recently visited with congressional staff at the recent “Babies Go to Congress” event in Washington D.C. Clients who were served at pregnancy help organizations came to the event to share their stories, bringing their children to prove just how impactful the pro-life pregnancy help movement is. Lastly, Lisa highlights the updated Pregnancy Center Report from the Charlotte Lozier Institute, showing an increase in services provided through pregnancy help organizations as well as a 97.4% satisfaction rate from clients.

Heartbeat’s International Program Specialist, Ellen Foell interviews Susan Masuka from Life Choices Zimbabwe at our recent Annual Conference to talk about her experience in staring a pregnancy help organization just two years ago to meet the needs of the young women in her area that are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. While abortion is currently illegal in Zimbabwe (with exceptions), there is a great need for support for young mothers, especially as teen pregnancy rates are on the rise. Undocumented residents may come from all over the world. Maternity home staff should be prepared to be understanding of different cultures and traditions.
It’s helpful to familiarize yourself with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) processes and build a strong relationship with agents so that residents can obtain the correct paperwork as asylum seekers.
Connect with area churches that serve the same culture as your resident to help them feel more comfortable.
Government assistance may not be available to undocumented women; check your state laws.
Maternity homes can help women stay on top of court appointments and paperwork so that they can legally stay in your home.
Ask lots of questions! Be ready and willing to learn.

Pregnancy centers can approach churches with something to offer rather than just asking for help financially, volunteers, etc.
Churches and centers can co-host events to serve women.
Pregnancy centers have a unique opportunity to invite women to local churches for continuing support and spiritual growth.
Making that initial connection with pastors could be as simple as bringing in lunch for a presentation to church staff or a short cookie reception to introduce the center and what you do.

Abortion advocates have been using this study to promote abortion as a better option for women (citing questions asked about finances, bonding with baby, etc), but their claims are not fully supported by the data in the study.
The Turnaway Study revealed that 96% of women who were denied an abortion and later gave birth later said that they no longer wished they had sought abortion. The overwhelming majority of women bonded to their children just fine.

Statistics show that there are likely people within most congregations (or even the pastors themselves) who have abortion in their background.
It’s essential to continually bring up life issues in churches; it’s not a one-time teaching.
Not speaking out on the pain of abortion leaves a void for those in churches that are still asking questions and may be vulnerable to make an abortion choice, or to encourage someone else to have an abortion.
Churches have the opportunity to speak the truth of God’s mercy and redemption to those who have abortion in their past and to direct them to PHOs or church groups that can offer healing programs.
If abortion is not rejected by society, we see other life issues such as euthanasia and assisted suicide accepted.
Syllogism – It is wrong to intentionally kill an innocent human being. Abortion intentionally kills an innocent human being. Therefore, abortion is wrong.
Approach your pastor with a “giving” mindset, not an “asking” mindset. Bring your subject matter expertise to them. Offer to speak and take the burden of doing the research and planning talks from them. Be willing to speak anywhere at anytime.
Thank the pastors and churches of your volunteers for their part in supporting a culture of life.

The First Amendment protects the speech of pregnancy help organizations. Historically, the courts have struck down legislation based on First Amendment prudence (laws were too vague, viewpoint discrimination, content discrimination, etc.)
This legislation is intended to cause confusion and fear so that pregnancy centers are scared into silence.
Training your staff on answering questions regarding your services is essential to providing quality care for your clients.

Amendments that states like MI and OH went up against are confusing and broadly worded; this caused much division among voters
Voters responded strongly to the concern over parental rights (even over abortion rights)
Abortion is just one piece of the “reproductive decisions” wording that is used
The abortion lobby falsely claimed that without this amendment, women could not get care for a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy
Pro-life efforts were outspent by roughly 20 million dollars in media advertising by the abortion lobby in Ohio this election season
Church engagement is vital. Ohio saw an increase in churches speaking out against Issue 1, but we still needed more.
Some people assumed that Ohio is a “life state” and an abortion amendment could never pass. There weren’t enough people willing to get out and vote, or who didn’t realize the severity of Issue 1.
Nine additional states could have a similar amendment on the ballot next year
In Ohio, existing pro-life regulations will be challenged in the courts. It will be difficult to uphold anything on parental rights, abortion limits, etc. when put up against the new amendment
Pregnancy Help Organizations are vital now more than ever in states like Ohio to be there for women as abortion is pushed on them even more than before

Don’t assume that attendees know everything about your mission and who you serve.
Illustrate your mission by telling stories of the families who have been served by your organization
Don’t apologize for asking for money. Remember that you are giving people a chance to be a part of your amazing mission!
Speak the language of your audience (using terms and explanations that the audience can connect with).
Be flexible as unforeseen events may disrupt your banquet; be sensitive to what the distraction may be and remember that your audience is with you. They understand!
Remember those who wanted to make it to the banquet but were not able to, or those who were not ready to give that night. Maximize what happens after the banquet by connecting with people who want to give later.

A prenatal diagnosis can mean that parents who would not otherwise consider abortion may now be abortion vulnerable; often the pregnancy was planned and the family was excited to welcome a new member to their family.

While this can be a helpful way for an unborn child to be treated before birth for medical conditions, false positive test results or a lack of understanding of the results can lead to the pressure to abort.
Perinatal bereavement care is available to parents, and is often chosen instead of abortion when given as option. This can be a very healing experience for the whole family.
Parent Care Coordinators help parents through the different services that the family might need including communications with the hospital, surgeons, arranging childcare for other children, travel, etc.
Adoptive parents are ready to care for children with medical conditions; this is an option that is not often presented to parents who may not be ready or able to care for a child who is diagnosed before birth with a medical condition.

Jeff Joaquin was a high school football star, eager to pursue a career in the NFL when his girlfriend told him the news that she was pregnant. Filled with fear, Jeff drove her to the abortion clinic in July of 1987. Thinking this event was behind him, Jeff continued on with his life, but spiraled into bad decisions, addiction, and distanced himself from God. It wasn’t until decades later that Jeff realized the true impact of his decision and began the journey towards healing. Now, Jeff shares his story in hopes of helping others understand the infinite love and mercy of God, no matter what their past may hold.
