I ask Sam the big question, can you be gay and a Christian. His answer may surprise you.
We dig deep into how Sam shows up in the world today and how he lives his life as a gay Christian. We explore what God says about homosexuality and Sam's interpretations.
The intention behind this show is like every other show, to let people know they are not alone. I know there are many religious people who debate what is sin and are quick to take the side of I'm right and you are wrong. But there are other religious people who are trying to understand, seeking clarity and information so they can make the best decision for them.
One thing I know to be true, no matter what we believe, there is always space for love when you're living openly. I thank Sam and all of you for living openly with me.
As always, let me know your thoughts by leaving a review or a message on Instagram.

Lesson: You never know who may be hurting or in need of help. If it is you, then it is never too late to reach out for help. Most importantly, there is more to life, if you're willing to live it and let it unfold. You Got This!

Pastor and Executive Director joins Chris Donnell on this weeks episode of Living Openly.
We discuss how to build inclusive communities. Mike is the Executive Director of Union Coffee shop in Dallas, TX. He leads by example. The work that he has done within the community is long-lasting and for some life-changing. Union Coffee is a product of the United Methodist Church but you wouldn't know it by stopping by for a quick cup of joe. Instead of a traditional church atmosphere, you find an inviting space where students can do their homework, professionals can have meetings, and the unloved or unforgotten is not only noticed but welcomed. For over a decade, Mike has used this coffee space as his pulpit.
Editors Note. --- At the time of the releasing this episode, Mike has decided to step down as Senior Pastor and pass on the reigns. We thank Mike for his service and know that only good things will come for him and Union Coffee Shop in Dallas.

A Special Mother's Day Episode
Today, for the first time, I’m in the hot seat, living openly. As a leader, I try not to ask people to do things I wouldn’t do myself.

Just like the first day of school each year, my mom has been by my side supporting me.
For this episode, I have asked my mom to put together, FIVE burning questions she has about Living Openly that she doesn't already know and wants to ask me.
I have no clue what these questions are, I’ve never seen them. I am Living Openly.

Hello everybody!
I just want to say I hope you're finding solace during these COVID times.
Much of this time, I have spent inspiring and encouraging people to be their best, truest self. And I know that, now more than ever, that's probably felt a lot easier said than done.
Growing up in a deeply religious family, raised by a single mother as a black, gay, ambitious kid in Texas in the 90s.
I know all too well about striving to rise above the constant constraints life and society creates, to where at times, feel like insurmountable mountains.
I didn’t have a “hero” or someone to look up to, identify with, or help me understand it was okay to be myself.
Or help me understand
“what’s wrong with me” or
Why am I different? or
Why can’t I be normal?
So, I created Living Openly for people like me whoever felt,
Unloved, unworthy, unseen, unheard, and underestimated.
Because You Matter. I Matter. We Matter.
Time Matters.
If this past year has taught us anything,
It is What we do with that time, matters.
LivingOpenly.com is a new destination that features voices of thought leaders, changemakers, and innovative minds who seek to connect, to listen, and learn how to free ourselves from whatever is holding us back from our ability to lead, love, and reach our highest potential.
With LivingOpenly.com, my hope is that you take a little time, each day, for you. To focus on what matters most to you.
We ARE All RESPONSIBLE FOR our own LIves.
We have the potential and ability to rise to the highest versions of ourselves.
To be fulfilled. To Dream Daringly, and open our eyes, minds, and hearts to new possibilities.
And most of all, to love. Ourselves, and make the world a more loving place to live.
So here I am—embarking on a new chapter and I'm hoping that you will join me.
Let’s start making living openly a daily practice at LivingOpenly.com**.
