Today we are going to talk about embracing the vision, specifically the vision of Beth Emanuel. Many times believers fall into the trap of thinking that when they come to faith it is so G-d can make their lives better by giving them a better job, a better house, better health, better looks, etc. While it is true that when we accept Yeshua into our lives and enter into a personal relationship with the creator of the Universe that our lives change, that is not the sole purpose. Adonai welcomes us into His kingdom and wants us to catch His vision for the world. Simply put, what would you say the vision of G-d is for the world - “That none should perish but all would come to faith in Messiah and a personal relationship with Him.”

We have just spent eight weeks looking at men and women of faith. These men and women had something in common, it was the super natural power of G-d operating in and through their lives. The power of G-d is the distinguishing sign authenticating that the message we bring and the G-d we serve is the real one. Rav Shaul in writing to the Kehilah at Thessalonica say’s “5 For our besorah did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Ruach HaKodesh and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. Then in his first letter to the Corinthians he say’s “20 For the kingdom of G-d is not in word but in power.”
Power for the believer is connected to the Ruach HaKodesh. He is the one that enables us to access the power of G-d. This Series will encourage us on this power. The good news is that G-d promised that He would send us both His Ruach and His power and today's message will focus on that promise.
The greatest thing that we can learn from Gid'on is that his faith was able to turn weakness into strength. When we first encounter Gid'on, he does not come across as a man of faith. He sounds like he doubts G-d’s ability to deliver Israel from the Midianites, does not consider himself a mighty man of valor, and seeks confirmation over and over again from Adonai about the mission being assigned to him. Yet, he is listed in this Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11. I believe his story will help each of us activate our faith so that we can turn our weaknesses into strengths as well. In doing so, we, like Gid'on, will be able to route the enemy from our lives, our family, and our community.
In this message we will be looking at D’vorah the first heroine in our series Heroes of Faith. If I can just say this woman of G-d is truly and inspiration as you look into her life in just two short chapters you can’t help but to be impressed. She is the total package of what it means to be a hero. So buckle your seat belts and get ready to be inspired and glean all you can from this incredible heroine of the faith.

Every day we are faced with obstacles to our faith in G-d and His promises for our lives. It is easy to become discouraged and overwhelmed by life causing us to wonder if G-d will ever fulfill His word in our situation. Like Avraham, we must have faith that hopes against the odds because our G-d is greater! We must exercise our faith in the same way as Avraham keeping our focus on the G-d who is able to do more than we could imagine or think. As we live by faith, G-d will move in our lives fulfilling the promise that He has made.
Our message entitled, "Behavior that makes a Difference” will help us with the nuts and bolts of what it is going to take to truly make a difference in our lives, in our homes, in our community, in our nation and in the world around us. When we read in the Scriptures of the men and women who made a difference in their world, we can recognize certain behavior on their part that enabled them to impact their world. It is this behavior that we want to practice in our daily lives so that we can see the same results. Right now I am reading through the Book of Acts and I am challenged to see my life and this community change our world just like the first century followers of Yeshua changed their world. Let’s look at what kind of behavior it will take.
"It sounds counter intuitive because we are used to hearing about successful people and people that succeed. These are the people that are the real difference makers in the world. Ultimately, that is true, but the fact is success comes through failure. The reason why it might sound unusual to us is because if it is true then everyone can make a major difference in the world,. Who among us has not failed? We all fail and it is our attitude toward failure that will be the determining factor in our ability to change the world or not. It’s not because we fail but it is what do we do after we fail that is important."
Difficulties arise. We face hardship and obstacles to our faith and to G-d’s call on our lives. What do we do when this is the case? It is easy to throw in the towel saying this is not worth it. However, Adonai would encourage us that we need to be committed to making a difference even in the midst of difficult circumstances. This means we must rise above the hindrances and struggles so that the people around us will be impacted with the presence of Adonai that they too may experience His transforming power.
We should understand that when Adonai introduced the New covenant through the death burial and resurrection of Mashiach. He did it with the expectation that believers would be carriers and couriers of the Good news message in and through their current lives.
Only let each person live the life the Lord has assigned him and live it in the condition he was in when G-d called him. This is the rule I lay down in all the congregation. (1Cor 7:17)
This scripture does not prohibit improving your position in life but it does suggest that we are to be faithful and fruitful in the life that we are currently living. For the few who are called to full time ministry they are to do that, for those that find themselves in a particular vocation they should operate as faithful ministers of G-d within their sphere of life. That can be as a hospital worker, a stay at home mom, social work, a business owner and any other area that you might find yourself in. So people working in the medical field, moms raising kids and entrepreneurs contributing to society or whatever role you play is important and potentially world changing because you interact with people. The world gets to see your light which will turn there attention to G-d. The key is that you understand that you, right here and right now are called to make a difference in the world.
We have been born anew, our spirits have been made alive and we have connected to G-d in a real and living way. Too often after we have had this wonderful transformative experience we are buffeted and restricted by our old nature. We find it hard to soar with the Ruach because we are shackled down by the earthly, and confined to living moment by moment by our feelings and senses. Today I want to challenge and inspire you to be transformed in how you live out your life. Instead of being restricted by your five fleshly senses I challenge you to be liberated and inspired by how a life lived by faith can transform the way you see things and open up new possibilities. Faith is the mechanism by which we access Kingdom promises and enter into kingdom living. Making a shift in how we live our life is really critical in living a fruitful and successful life in G-d.
One of the greatest battles you will ever face is with your thoughts. Your life will be totally changed when you learn to transform your mind.

It is easy to respond with kkvetching and complaining. Yet, it is in cultivating an attitude of gratitude through our journey - the good and the bad - that we achieve true happiness and contentment.

When people give into discouragement, it, like these other giants, immobilizes them. Many of us are like King Shaul and the army of Israel - we have been listening to this giant of discouragement for a long time, but TODAY we are exposing the schemes of the evil one so that these things will no longer control or define who we are or where we are headed. We are giant slayers and today we are going to hear the giant of discouragement fall hard to the ground.
One of the keys to overcoming anxiety is learning to control our thoughts. G-d wants this giant to fall in your life and for you to walk in victory over anxious thoughts.
It is hard to fight against someone you can't see. In the medical world, many people used to not recover from heart attacks because they were not able to recognize what was happening until it was too late. Today doctors know certain symptoms that are warning signs that have helped to save many lives .
Spiritually, it can be the same. The enemy comes against us but we don't recognize what is going on. We blame the economy, our friends or family, the government, or our employer because we don't recognize the spiritual attack we are under. Rabbi Michael and I look around and we see the enemy roaring in so many of your lives and in the kehilah.

One of the best ways you can insure that you are making wise investments is to become a partner with G-d. D.L. Moody said, “If G-d is your partner, make you plans big.” However, I want us to look at the other side of it - If we are G-d’s partners, what is He getting from us or looking for in a partner.

As w enter 2015, Adonai would encourage and remind us of His plans for us as a congregation and as individuals. This is a Yovel Year (Jubilee Year) in which G-d promises release, restoration and favor. It is important that we understand the plans He has for us.
shared in my message that it was a year of release and a year of favor. Adonai has encouraged us personally and as a congregation that the best is yet to come. Yet, for some it may seem that things have gotten worse. What is happening? The enemy is rearing his head because he does not want you and I to walk in the release and favor that Adonai has for us. When all hell breaks out against us, we need to experience a break through similar to that of David and the Israelites. How can we do that?
Today we want to talk about faith that sees. It is faith with 20/20 vision. There are two things this verse speaks to us. Let’s think of the context of this verse. Moshe was in Egypt. He was raised by the Pharaoh’s daughter after being saved by his mother’s faith in placing him in a basket in the Nile River so he would not be killed by the Pharaoh. When he became an adult, he turned away from the palace of Pharaoh, fled to Midian after killing an Egyptian who was beating another Jewish man, returned with a mandate from Adonai to lead around 2 million Jewish people out of Egypt by confronting a king who was defiant to the existence and mandate of the G-d of Israel. Moshe made it through these difficult and challenging situations by focusing on the unseen which, in turn, allowed him to persevere.
Faith that is not tested is not real faith. Adonai will use various means to test us. His desire is to help us through each one as we learn to put our hope and trust in Him.
Living Faith is a Faith that Speaks. This message seeks to answer these two questions: What does faith say? To whom or what does faith speak.
Adonai calls us to do things that sometimes are out of our comfort zone, but it requires simple faith from us. Today's message focuses on Real World Faith - Faith that affects us in our every day life. It is so easy for our faith to be diminished in our day to day living. We need to cultivate our faith as we walk through life.
Maybe you are experiencing financial difficulties, perhaps it was a bad report from the doctor. Maybe your relationships are strained. Perhaps you feel beaten and broken by all that life has thrown your way recently. Maybe you feel like you just cannot continue to fight the battle that you are facing. It is so easy at moments like these to feel abandoned and forgotten. Our emotions rise up and overpower our faith and the truth of Adonai’s Word. Like Israel we can cry out in our spirits, Where are you G-d? When will you show up? Have you forgotten us? Are you ignoring my pain? Can’t you see? Don’t you hear my prayers? In moments like these Adonai speaks a simple but powerful message - You are not forgotten
