Two men have tricked two women into marrying them this show documents their struggles and triumphs in an attempt to let you, dear listener, know what not to do to keep your special someone around. There is Mike Brodeur, known as the polarizing personality from the Fear the Boot Podcast, who has been with his high school sweetheart for over 25 years. His vulgarity and virtue makes him the the perfect storm of personality. Then there was Chris Parsons, of Entertain the Geeky, who is known for his big mouth and big personality. He has been with his wife/ the mother of his sons for the better part of a decade. How do you say something that isn't. Again we find ourselves on a tangent regarding objective reality, and the omission of fact based on a collective bias. This is something that gets testy, and may be seen as political, but if the words are observed carefully, you will find that we are not in fact taking a side; but attesting to the importance of acceptance. Then the art of dealing with the things that you don't enjoy in the things that you love is brought up. It was in this that we found our word of wisdom. We do what we always do and try to take on a topic, then find ourselves on a bit of a rant about something that doesn't pertain to the subject that was set for discussion. With that being said, we try to tackle intoxicants. Are they an escape from reality, or a social lubricant? Perhaps a bit of both, but they are here and they are very real.
So, where is the line between flirtation and full blown inappropriate behavior? When do you know that someone is into you? This is an interesting one, because we explore this not only as married men and friends, but as people who love attention. Is there anyone who doesn't care to be flattered?

Well, we aren't good at staying on point, and we have broken our rule of no political talk many times now, but this is our attempt at touching on relationships as you enter into an entrepreneurial venture. We go into the places that that can take you and how it can help you to avoid pitfalls that you believe degrade your professional integrity.
As we come to realize our own mortality, we often seek the answers that a higher power can offer. The means by which we engage in spirituality, may vary, but the our intent is almost always universal and in this episode, Mike shares that he is beginning to dip his toes in the waters of religion after years of time away. He offers reasons for beginning his search with the Catholic church, the most notable being vampire slaying, demon expulsion and holy relics. We wrapped things up with a word of wisdom that centered around intent.
What do we want? We want to get paid a bunch of money to make audio advertising for whoever. Then grocery shopping comes up and their lack of adequate staffing and how very much Chris hates the self checkouts at Walmart. Sparkling water... This was very aimless.
Over time new versions of ourselves emerge and this can make it tricky when dealing with others with whom we have long term relationships. We are after all, different people experiencing life in different ways, on sometimes intersecting paths. This can cause peculiar interactions when our paths cross after an extended period of time. We attempt to recount some instances of this in this episode and then share with you our twisted views on the reality of our situations. This is what we manage to put together when Mike comes to record with his eye looking " all hurty" and somehow we managed to keep doing that which we are not supposed to do. With that being said, we touched on the morality of stories being brought into real life and how crazy that is.
We have just been riffing recently and we have a few episodes in the can, but this is our most recent recording. We talk about some of the crazy covid things people do, (Chris included) and we get into the concept of minding ones own business and what that could mean to those around you...
With time being so tight as of recent and real life coming at blinding speeds, it has been hard to find a few free moments to edit and post these episodes. Excuses aside, determination and the dangling of a carrot has led to this publication. This is about disconnection, or at least disengaging. With how polarized we have become, Mike finds it easiest to not step back but step outside of the highly politized world and step into his thoughts. Here we share some of those with you.
This is a shared episode with Chris' other podcast, Slightly Average in which Mike takes some time to figure out what it is that makes Chris slightly average. This conversation goes from Chris' professional life and what motivates him to things that make him tick. Toward the end, things take an interesting turn.
When looking at areas where an individual can become better, we have this preconceived notion that it is appropriate to be overly combative in order to express our own worthiness. While there are times that this is an appropriate response, it is typically not the correct course of action. So in this conversation we touch on negotiation on ones own behalf.
What is loyalty? This is an interesting conversation, as it is littered with a number of what ifs that we attempt to answer.
When the dog breaks your shit, you get over it. This episode teaches us a few things, one is that Chris is a giant crybaby, and the next is that sometimes, we need to recognize that we just need to vent. Even though we are upset, we still have to choose our words carefully. Complaint and resentment don't do anyone much good, but attempting to understand what has upset us and why can lead to emotional development. Also, don't be a bitch if a game is too hard. Get better!
When we recorded this, the aim was to touch on the necessity of conflict to maintain to maintain a healthy relationship. Hints the topic, Fighting to preserve peace. It degenerated into about a hour of us just hanging out. Mostly social commentary.
This is one of those things that took an unexpected, but pleasant turn as we sat in front of the mics and just let the word vomit flow. After boiling everything down, this is a conversation about trust and letting things unfold. When you trust an someone enough to hire them, you are saying to them, that you understand that they possess the ability to carry out the essential functions of a job and you will allow them do just that. We tried to be a bit more light hearted, then Chris had to stomp his feet like a little baby because his mom bought a car form another car salesman. Mike practices his interviewing of Chris for Chris' other show and they laughed about the whole thing.
With keys that have been fashioned into fangs the keyboard warrior lies in wait for its next victim... I suppose we are just in a dark place, and are working our way through it. Maybe it is just learning to accept a new world.
We are breaking some new ground, for us anyway, in attempting to open people up to the abandonment of an ideology for the sake of their relationships. For a few weeks now, we have been questioning sanity and the rationality of those who are quick to cut friends off because of political affiliation. We have been baffled by the way people, friends, are turning a blind eye to the truth, in order to crucify someone for questioning the actions of those in our highly polarized world. Finally we promote the concept of respecting the sanctity of the individual and their thoughts.
Snow storms, school closings and attacks on free speech are the subjects of this episode. Before we began recording this gem, Mike and I had very little contact with one another, but somehow our brains met on the same plane of the multiverse, and we both wanted to talk about the same thing. This episode is sure to piss some people off and we may lose listeners, but for the sake of saying what is right, here you go.
We start this one in the deep dark depths of the internet, with a reaction to the mere description of a video, that sent chills down our spines. We jump right in... Awful. This then transitions into the perceived favoritism of a parent, and how attention can be seen as loving one person more than another. Then finally, we make our way to the voting with your dollar, which we will elaborate on further in our next episode.
Complacency can be a lead weight that drags an individual to the depths of hell, so we have chosen to explore it in this installment of Who Wears the Pants. As we started the conversation we were attempting to unearth what it is that makes people stay. In trudging through that, we stumbled upon the idea of getting fat, metaphorically, and that took us the rest of the way down the road. So after taking a month off, we jumped into this peach of an episode, and touched on everything from supplement and gun control all the way to how a government should be afraid of its citizens. We also welcomed the newest member of the WWTP family, Chris' bouncing baby girl. This episode does have some political talk, so the warning is out there. This should be out last political episode for a while though. Fingers crossed.

A relationship with the truth. This episode came about in a very typical way, for us, but seemed to resonate in a way that other topics just don’t. We were in the car together, when Mike proposed the idea, along with the statement, “I just don’t know what’s real.”. What is going on in the world today? So, most things are restricted or closed at the moment because of the pandemic that has drawn a shade over the land and we are here... This is our first time doing a remote episode because of a possible COVID-19 infection, but by the time the test results are delivered, our quarantine period will have passed. What was the point of even taking a test? How are we keeping ourelves together, or at least from coming apart?
What gets under your skin with friends? We talk about some of what people that you don't live with can do to really grind your gears.
