Because Jesus took on the sin of the world—your sin and mine—so we could be forgiven and restored.
Mike draws attention to how we were slaves to sin—chained and bound—but once we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we’re no longer slaves. We become brothers and sisters in Christ, part of one body—the Church. This episode reminds us that once you accept Christ, you are no longer condemned, no longer distant. You have direct access to God the Father through Jesus, our High Priest from the order of Melchizedek. The veil in the Holy of Holies was torn. The separation is gone. So we're going to start by reading chapter 20 and then we'll start interpreting with 21.Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you what is well pleasing in his sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. So he says, make you complete in every good work to do his will. You see, God equips us.One of the things to think about is lot of people say, I'm not equipped. I can't go out. I don't know the Bible well enough. I can't tell people. I can't answer their questions and therefore I'm not going to witness for God. But what we know is some of the greatest evangelists, some of the people who have just been so impactful for the kingdom of Christ have not been great theologians. They have been people who have been changed by Christ, accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and they're so excited and they realize how importantimportant this is, how eternal this decision is, how much of an earthly impact with peace and joy it has on them, that they just go out and start telling people. And that is a huge witness. So if you're being held back or you're holding yourself back is really the issue from telling people about Jesus because you don't think you can answer their questions or you don't know enough about the Bible, you'll never know the Bible completely. You'll never know the Bible well enough to be able to answer every single question that someone can throw at you.And it is totally fine to be in a conversation with someone and just say, you know, I don't know the answer to that. Let me go pray about it, research it, and I'll get back to you. But what you're going to find is that God doesn't call the equipped. He equips the called. If He calls you to do something, whether it's telling your neighbor about Jesus, your colleague about Jesus, going to Third World for a week to do a short-term mission trip.going to the food bank and telling people about Jesus and handing him food, whatever it is, he's going to equip you. And it could be as simple as just saying Jesus loves you. Most people don't get into a big theological discussion. And those who do, oftentimes, don't really want to know about Jesus. They just want to win a debate and an argument. So be careful, right? And God even tells us that. Jesus tells us that in the Bible. He says to kick the dust off your feet.If you go somewhere and you're telling them about Jesus and they're just not listening, then just shake the dust off. Go to the next house, go to the next city, go to the next town, whatever it is. But God will make you complete in every good work to do His will. We are here to carry out His will. He gives us these incredible, godly desires. And then we have to use our free will to decide whether we're actually going to use those to advance God's kingdom.or whether we're going to continue down the path of just making this life all about us and not stopping to live for Jesus and not making him a priority or a purpose in our life, but just a sidecar, something in the backseat. You got this little motorcycle with the sidecar and you kind of put him in there and you're like, hey, Jesus, you're going to tag along with me wherever I go. Throw him in the trunk of your car and say, you're just going to go along with me. Instead, give him the wheel. Let him drive. And you say, I want to go with you.

Jesus is dead. Wait, what? All right. This is what the majority of the world believes. What do you believe? What do you think? Did he rise from the dead? Because if you don't believe he rose from the dead, then you don't believe he's God. Only God could come to earth in the form of a human and die and pay the price for our sins. He's the only one qualified.
There are so many people who say, yeah, he's dead. He was a good teacher, a good moral teacher, but he's gone. No, no, no. Right. Even the Muslims, you can look in the Surah and they believe that Jesus did not die, but went to heaven. We'll later come back and then die at that point in time. But Jesus is not dead. We're going to get into that in Hebrews chapter 13, verse 20. And just a second talking about God, father raising him from the dead. But right now we're going to start with chapter 13 verse
18 let's go pray for us for we are confident that we have a good conscience and all things desiring to live honorably. Pray for us. Do you understand how powerful prayer is? It is so wonderful when someone says to me and to you, I will pray for you. Let me pray for you right now. Let's not underestimate or undermine prayer. is powerful means of communication. It's a powerful form of bonding to people that we're not even with at that moment.
Because when you pray for someone, you have a heart for them. So don't forget to pray, pray for people and pray for them right there on the spot. Don't just say you're in my thoughts and prayers, right? No, no, no. And don't just say, I'll pray for you. Say, I'll pray for you. You know what? Let me pray for you right here, right now in the middle of this mall, in the middle of the store, in the middle of the street, in the middle of the office, wherever it is, do it right then, right there. It's one of the most powerful things you'll ever do in your life. promise. How do I know this? Because I learned it.
and I continue to do it and I love doing it. It's one of the most powerful parts of every day that I have. It says, pray for us for we are confident that we have a good conscience and all things desiring to live honorably. We should live honorably. We should want people to look at our lives, our deeds and our words and see Jesus. We are the hands and feet of Jesus. And if we do that, then we can live with a good conscience knowing that God's going to
Help us. He is going to forgive us. In fact, he already forgave us. This is one of the big points. So many people think when I die, uh-oh, Jesus is going to shake his face. He's going to point his finger at me and say, look what you did. You hypocrite. No, that's not how it works. The moment you accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, right then you were forgiven past, present, future sense. His arms are spread wide on the cross, East and West. And he is essentially saying,
I forgive you as far as the East is from the West. He holds nothing against those who have accepted him as their Lord and your Lord and savior. And verse 19, we're told, but I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner this restoration, we should continually be seeking to love other people in the name of Jesus, to be in community with those around us.
to love on non-believers as well because they're watching us. We may be the only Bible that they read. We want our actions, our attitudes, our deeds, our words to reflect Jesus, not for our salvation, because you were justified the moment you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. But the rest of your life, you get to live with that peace and that joy, knowing that the devil and his demons are gonna try to knock you down all the time and get you off your rocker. Happened to me yesterday, very tough day. The earlier start today.
Walk the walk AND talk the talk so that others can learn about Jesus through your deeds and words.
We should celebrate our military for fighting for our freedoms. We should celebrate Jesus for dying for our eternal freedom.
God wants to shake away all the junk, so you're left fine and refined by his fire and blood. Are you in?
The law was designed to reveal, not to heal. We can't get to heaven through good works or reincarnation or purgatory.
The devil wants you to go off path, to blame the discipliner and to focus on the past. Take the straight path to Jesus.
A loving parent disciplines, and a child who wants to mature well accepts and respects such discipline.
Veterans and military make a difference towards our freedom. Jesus is the true freedom. The perfect world will not exist this side of heaven, but there's purpose in the process.

They were persecuted then. Our brothers and sisters in other countries are persecuted now. Persecution is heating up in America of Christians by non-believers. Expect it.
Unforgiveness creates a prison around you and makes people bitter. Jesus offers complete forgiveness, regardless of how bad your past decisions have been.

Reincarnation is scary. Required redundant prayers are trite and controlling. Christianity is based on freedom and a loving, grace-filled God.
We are not the captain, He is. We cannot pay the price for our sin, so He did it for us.
Only the blood of perfect and sinless Jesus was sufficient to put away our sins. That’s the only sacrifice that could redeem our sins. He bore all the punishment because He was the only One qualified to do so.
The Law (10 commandments) were designed to reveal our sins, so that we would look to salvation in Jesus.
God is not absent! God doesn’t want us to remain silent, but to lovingly point sinners to the Savior!
Jesus was never an angel, contrary to Jehovah’s Witnesses teaching and Mormon teaching. Also, angels, people, Mary and so-called-saints should never be worshipped.
Who believes that joy is a choice? And do you think that Jesus wants you to be sorrowful or joyful?

When is the last time you shared Jesus with someone you didn’t know? What does born again mean?
God orchestrated some unlikely people to rise to power, does He not? Yet God is surprised by nothing and knows everything. There’s great peace in that.
It’s hard to get people out of your mind, to forget past bad decisions, but we must trust God with results and find joy today.
She risked her life to help others. What are you willing to risk to tell people about Jesus? The answer for most people is they’re not willing to risk anything and that’s why they hog Jesus all to themselves and don’t risk telling anyone else the good news.
Is now the time to stay quiet and keep your faith quiet? Or is now the time to boldly and lovingly and publicly declare your love for Jesus and be more concerned with things above than with transient earthly things?
Today is the day that you identify a generation curse and stop it in the power of Jesus!
Who do you talk about or think about more than Jesus? Is it an athlete, a boss, a guru in your profession? This exercise can help put our life in perspective!
Are we called to be salt and light to a lost and dying world, or to hide our faith under a rock and keep Jesus all to ourselves risking nothing? I would suggest that most people fall into the latter category. Just make sure that’s not you.
If someone loves Jesus, do they have the option of keeping their faith private and telling no one?
Why do we seek to be respected and remembered, when we will all be forgotten at some point, even the wealthiest and mightiest? We should seek to point people to Jesus rather than building statues for ourselves, right? Who agrees?

Beware of false doctrine. Some churches in Austin and America are referring to God as “mother” or telling people you have to do certain tasks to earn your way to heaven (prayer rugs, beads, rosaries, chants, caffeine, have enough faith to be blessed, missions, etc). Do not fall for these schemes of the devil.
Which One Of These Do You Struggle With? Wine, greed, temper, violence, hospitality, sober-mindedness, self control, holding fast to Gods word?

Governments Should Facilitate Not Control. Contrast the response of the Egyptians to the famine to some governments today who intentionally cause bad circumstances in an effort to control people for their own power play. Freedom requires some reasonable restraints, but is lost if there are unreasonable restraints. When you submit your life to Christ you are set free.
The Egyptians gave everything in exchange for bread from Joseph during the 7 year famine. They gave 100% of their money, business assets and real estate holdings. What are you willing to give to God? Money? Time? Devotion? If you lost everything, like the Egyptians, would you still love God, or would you shake your fist at Him? New Christ followers in many parts of the world are losing everything earthly when they proclaim the name of Jesus, yet they have gained all that they need for eternity and they’re praising Him.
“You complete me!” Who can name the movie and actor? But have you told Jesus that He completes you or are you still incomplete?
Israel was told Joseph was killed by animals, but now his other sons are telling him that he’s alive. It’s hard to believe people who lie.
Just because you were jealous doesn’t mean you have to be jealous. Besides, God tells us to leave all our goods behind because we can’t take money or accomplishments to Heaven with us.

Is it a good idea to be alone with someone else’s wife? How about texting her? Joseph rejected this woman’s adulterous offer, yet she had the upper hand!
The baby in the womb with the scarlet thread who retreats and then reappears is a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. Every Old Testament Chapter points to Jesus.
The Bible is full or crazy stories, such as Tamar being widowed twice and then tricking her father-in-law into sleeping with her and impregnating her. Remember that you are not beyond God’s forgiveness because his love is agape (unconditional) and his mercy is deep.

Challenge: Forgive someone who has hurt you. Agape love is unconditional. God forgave you, and you are called to forgive others.

Moses freed the Jewish people from slavery, but God didn’t let Moses enter the promised land. Why?

God created woman out of the side of man. They are equal but with distinct roles. If we don’t study God’s Word, then it’s easy to be pulled into false religions.
Men and women are equal, but with distinct roles. Just like the trinity of God where there is equality but with distinct roles.
The Garden of Eden was perfect. But God gave Adam a choice. Love requires choice. Free will is a great thing, but too often we choose to rebel against God.

Day 6 of Creation. God created us in His image, as tripartate beings with body, soul and spirit.

Day 4 of creation. Worship the Creator not the creation. There was light on earth from God starting day 1 even before God created the sun on day 4. Too many people worship the sun and creation rather than the Son and the Creator.
Evolution ain’t true. God knew that people would rebel against the Creator and form this illogical theory. That’s why He put Gen 1:12 in the Bible.
The Gap Theory is wrong. God created the world in 6 days and he never had to recreate it, although He will recreate the heavens and the earth after the Millennial Kingdom.

Are you working your tail off for your piece of gold or to be admired by others? Jesus wants you to believe in Him and He tells us that gold and diamonds and emeralds will be commonplace in the Eternal Kingdom. After the tribulation and Millenial Kingdom, God will create a new earth and new Heaven and a New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem will be brilliant like a diamond and will have 12 gates representative of the 12 tribes of Israel.
God is the Creator. You can live with Him for eternity. The choice is yours. Those with Him will have no more pain or sorrow after they leave their earthly bodies. Don’t you want that joy and bliss? It’s simple to do.
This earth will be completely destroyed by God by fire and instantly God will create new heavens and a new earth and he will dwell with us. No more sin or temptation or fleshly desires or confusing feelings at that point. I can’t wait!
Unbelievers will be judged by Jesus based on their sinful works against Jesus. None will get to heaven. Those who chose to love Jesus during this lifetime will enjoy eternal life with peace and joy. It’s a no brainer. Which are you?
Unbelievers get judged at the Great White Throne Judgement. Believers get rewarded at the Bema Seat of Christ. Only those who are born again will experience the rewards.
Unbelievers are judged for their works at the Great White Throne Judgment and then cast into the lake of fire permanently. Believers, on the other hand, are not.
After the 1000 years, Satan will be released to gather his army and then God will destroy them with fire in an instant and Satan will be cast into the forever hell known as the lake of fire.
The Millenial Kingdom continued. Animal sacrifice will be reinstituted. We will have beautiful homes with no mortgage or taxes, and our work will be enjoyable not stressful.
The 1,000 year millennial kingdom is described in various parts of the Bible. So we dissect them to give you a picture of what life will be like during that literal 1,000 year period.

Those whose goal is world peace will be swayed by the antichrist. Jesus is the only one who can bring lasting peace. Don’t put your faith in a politician, but in the One who puts the politicians in power.
The anti Christ will imitate Jesus with a white horse, crown on his head, and a bow in his hand. People only counterfeit the real thing. Jesus is the real thing.

Earthly riches can be a huge obstacle to coming to Christ. So many people find security in money. It’s a false sense of security. Money can make people feel comfortable on earth, but the sad result for so many is discomfort for eternity. God calls us to trust in Him, not in our money, and to glorify Him, not to idolize ourselves and our accomplishments.
Are you Lukewarm, or cold or hot? I was lukewarm prior to age 33 or so and then I realized that there is no room in heaven for lukewarm people. So I got fired up for Jesus and it’s been an incredible journey.
Hold fast. Hold onto the things of God. Focus on Godly things, not worldly things. Do you want to be a pillar in your community? God wants to make you a pillar for eternity.

You’re living and breathing, but do you have the breath of life in you, the Holy Spirit, the eternal life that’s given to us through Jesus? May we make the name of Jesus known, rather than our own name.
His burden is light. He knows what choices you will make because He knows the future. He is patient. He gives you time to repent. He stands ready with open arms for you to love him back. This life is the only chance you have to accept Him.
Beware of idols in your life (money, football, kids, porn, power, retirement, etc.). God is patient and gives us time to repent, but that time is limited to your life on this earth. There are no second chances, do-overs, or purgatory.
God sees the good works that you do that are motivated by faith in Christ, rather than by your worldly desires.
You’re either FOR God or you’re AGAINST Him. You can’t be both. We must repent and turn away from that sin and towards God. He patiently waits, but this life is your only opportunity to decide.
Will you stand up for God, or deny Him, when society turns against your biblical beliefs? It’s a question for us today, right now. God has strong words for those who blend in with society and believe that they can be aligned with a secular world view and still find the favor of God.
Suffering will (not might) happen. There’s purpose in it. A faith that hasn’t been tested is a faith that hasn’t been trusted. Be faithful. Hear God. You can overcome because Jesus overcame.
Expect suffering. Although you may be tried, although you may not have the money you need or wish you had, you have the riches of Jesus if you’re a believer. God sees our trials. Be reminded that there’s purpose in our trials.
He warns us about leaving our first love. We are to agape (unconditionally love) God and agape others in the name of Jesus. We are to repent and turn away from a particular sinful behavior and 180 degrees towards God. He overcame and therefore so can we.
God holds us, knows us and wants to fellowship with with us. Individuals collectively determine the spiritual health of a congregation. Beware of false teachers.
Jesus died for you. He is alive forevermore. Jesus is the key to heaven and He offers you that key, but it’s your choice to accept or reject. Revelation has its own outline in Rev 1:19.
Fire can be scary for the unbeliever but beautiful for the believer. The Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword. God tells us not to be afraid. What fear is ailing you presently?
God is in your midst. Jesus is The High Priest and gives us direct access to God. Accordingly we can have a close personal relationship with God. Jesus’ atonement for our sins makes us white like wool and white as snow.
If you show and tell people about Jesus, then you can expect persecution. Prepare yourself and press into God. Rely on The Holy Spirit and know that God is sovereign and that His plans are better than your plans.
Jesus’ red bliss makes a believer white as snow. Believers are kings and priests. Jesus will return at the end of the 7 year tribulation. Jesus is The Son and He is also God.
