It seems a contradiction the words beauty and trial in the same sentence; but when we see who leads us into a trial, who is with us in the trial, and what "He" is doing in and through the trial, we will see the beauty in the ashes.
In today's message, Pastor Ray will share with you about motivations and why we do the things we do. Why do you strive to be a good spouse? Or a good parent? Or a good student? Because you value supporting and caring for your spouse or children, or because you value getting good grades in school. The things that we place the most value in will be the things that we put the most time into. So why do you go to church every Sunday? Is it because Christ is what you highly value?
In today's message, Pastor Ray will remind you that who you choose to spend your time with is vitally important to your life and your walk with Christ. The Bible says that in marriage, Christians are not to be unequally yoked, meaning they should not marry an unbeliever. This same concept can be and should be applied to all relationships. When we think of idols, we might think of a small metal statue that one might bow or pray to... However, in our modern context, an idol is really something that becomes more important than God. These modern idols could be relationships, status, or money to name a few. These idols can not only take our eyes off of Christ but they can truly derail our lives from the plans and purposes God has for us.
In today's message, Pastor Ray will encourage you to live your life backward. So what does it mean to live your life backward? Living life backward as a Christian means that your perspective of life moves backward from the point when you enter eternity with Christ... And if you live from that perspective then you know that you have to read your Bible and know when Jesus is coming again. While we can't know exactly when Jesus will come, we can surely see the signs and bring people to Christ before He returns.
In today's message, Pastor Ray will remind you that the Bible tells us that the wages of sin, is death. Now, this means two things. For one, it means that when we sin, we've put ourselves at odds with God and because of that sin, we deserve death. In the new covenant of Jesus, He covers our sins... But sin can also turn out to lead to physical death as well. Some sins like overindulgence in alcohol or the use of drugs can cause us to physically perish... But no sin isn't covered by the blood of Jesus.

He left His throne in heaven to be born of a virgin, to live life as a man, and to die a horrendous death for the sins of humanity... But His Word says He will come again to take His bride the Church to be with Him in heaven. He will clean the world of its evil and will reign on the Earth for 1,000 years. As Christians, it's our duty to share the Gospel with others so that they too can share in the glory of the coming of Jesus Christ.

When you accept Jesus, not only does He cleanse you of your past self and past mistakes... He transforms who are now for the future! It's a process each and every day, allow God to restore you.

Some people don't want to talk about the end times at all because of the uncertainties or theological differences... But no matter what, we need to know what the Bible has to say about the end times. We need to know the signs and prepare for the return of our savior Jesus. For 20-year-old Christians to 2-month-old Christians, we all need to know what will happen and how we can usher people into God's kingdom before then.

For most of us, our life with Jesus includes reading our Bibles, praying, and going to church... And while these are all wonderful things, we can't forget about Thanksgiving. Not the holiday but the act of sharing with God the things that you are thankful for. We don't need a yearly holiday to give God praise for all He has blessed us with, we can make it a daily routine of praising God.

But God gives it to us each and every day, we just have to accept His offer. Now, something we see even less than grace is peace. Many people in the world today suffer from a lack of peace and the inability to find it... But God offers peace freely to those who will take it. There is peace that comes from the Lord and it has no explanation!
In today's message, Pastor Ray will share some of the slogans of various branches of the U.S. military and compare those to what we can pray for in the church. Over several years, the Army's slogan was “an army of one”. In the Church, we too can adopt this idea of an army of one. An army of one implies that though there are many parts, they all work together as one for the good of the greater whole. As the body of Christ, it's important that we all work together in harmony for the kingdom of God.
The number one tool the Devil will use is discouragement. He will use any means necessary to keep you distracted from your relationship with the Lord every day. He will try and keep you from the truth that God is our Lord and Savior. It can be easy to stray from God in those moments, but remember that the devil is NO match for God’s love!

Many of us often go to church just because that's what we do on Sundays, or we go because our families go, or our friends pulled us along. As people, we often think we need to be sinless and pure if we want to go to God, but the truth is we would never be able to come to the Father if it was based on our sinful nature. That’s the beauty of God sending His Son, Jesus! It’s through Him that we can approach God in prayer. Without Jesus, we would never be able to make ourselves righteous enough to converse with God. The first thing you do is ask God what He wants for your day, for your week, for your year. It's a daily thing, and God is in the details! But He's also in the big picture. And the great thing is, when you follow His plan, you can't go wrong! Things around you can go wrong—and they will!--but when you follow in faith He will guard every step.
Nineteen degrees doesn't feel like too much of a difference when you're talking about sailing in the entirety of the ocean. But when it's time to come into the harbor, nineteen degrees is the difference between a safe landing and running aground! Right now, you're sailing the ocean of your life. Whether the water is clear and blue or murky, you're ok out in the open seas. In today's message, Pastor Ray is going to remind you to check your heading, because one day you'll be heading into port.
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.” But how do we do that? If you look at the other verses surrounding this one, it's already pretty clear! Want to have God draw near to you? First, be a person of peace. Let peace characterize your relationships. Submit to Him and be humble. In other words, you draw near to God by emulating Him and how He loves people. There's so much more surrounding this verse and Pastor Ray is going to dive into it all in today's message!

I’m sure that you can think back on a time when you did something as a child that you got away with. Sin is something that is completely inevitable. Why? Because we were born into sin. We are all naturally sinners. There is no one perfect except for God. Partiality is defined as an unfair, biased opinion about someone or something. I’m sure you could come up with an example of how you have shown that before. It’s a part of our human nature and it isn’t always a bad thing; however, today Pastor Ray is going to be talking about how we as Christians should not show partiality to the people around us. Why? Because Jesus did not show it to us. He chose to love us despite what He knew we would do and how many times we would fail Him. We are called to love as Jesus does.

Sin is sin. Culture leads you to believe that certain moral issues are worse than others. Have you ever seen those long suspension bridges that stretch over a huge canyon? Talk about steps of faith as people walk on a man-made bridge dangling hundreds of feet above the canyon floor! Does your faith walk as a Christian feel like that? One wrong step and you come crashing down? Well, Pastor Ray shares that while we can feel like that, God is ready, willing, and able to help us to the other side. Your job is to just keep faithfully putting one foot in front of the other…He’ll do the rest.

There are a lot of movies about underdogs who achieve greatness. Whether it be about a sports team, an army winning a battle, or a rags-to-riches story, we are all inspired by those who don’t quit against all odds. Well, Pastor Ray shares that as a Christian you’re an inspiration. You may not feel like an inspiration…but you are. You are an inspiration to the heroes of the faith who have gone before you and are now cheering you on! And one day you’ll hear well done faithful servant!

Well as Pastor Ray shares our walk with God in faith can be much more frustrating and impact our lives in much greater ways than a tangled mess of cords. As humans, we’re so eager to fix things ourselves. And it can be very difficult to put full trust in another to fix something for us. Maybe we even feel guilty when we receive help. But Pastor Ray reminds us today that, when it comes to our relationship with God, there is only one Person who can redeem us – Jesus Christ. To follow Jesus requires that we put our full trust in Him. And this trust doesn’t stop after we first believe. To truly live as a Christian in this world requires that we continuously trust in Christ.
Pastor Ray challenges us today to see people with Jesus’ eyes. When we see people walking in darkness – people who are lost – do we have compassion on them, desiring that they would come to know Jesus? Or, do we become angry and bitter, or simply reject them? When Jesus interacted with sinners and outcasts, He showed supernatural compassion. He invited them to be made well, to be redeemed by God. He didn’t reject them as society did. Instead, He was eager to show them love and grace.
As Pastor Ray takes us through a passage from the book of Hebrews today, he reminds us that Jesus’ work is finished. We don’t need to try and accomplish with our empty religion what Jesus has already done – this is not what God wants for us. But at the time when Hebrews was written, there were people who began following Jesus, but then turned back to their old religion. And this pattern continues to this day; it’s difficult for us to accept that Jesus doesn’t ask us to do anything besides trust in Him.
Today, Pastor Ray speaks about the importance of Christian fellowship. In a society of individualism, we need to remember that we’re not called to be isolated from our brothers and sisters in Christ. As Christians, we have to recognize that we need the church. And Pastor Ray illustrates this point by talking about mountain climbers, who shamelessly acknowledge that they can’t do it alone. They climb tethered with other climbers so that in the worst moments of the journey they can rely on each other.
The Bible tells us that God has actually forgotten the sins of His children. But as Pastor Ray points out today, our world takes issue with this truth. So often, people choose to hold grudges and live in the past, rather than acknowledging that our Creator is a forgiving God. But we can choose to rest in God’s grace instead, and this changes the way we live. Not only are we set free from shame as a result of God’s forgiveness, but we can also choose to forgive those who have hurt us, and be free from resentment.
As Pastor Ray teaches from the book of Hebrews today, he notes what the author instructs as a culmination of everything that has been written up to this point. While we might expect the author to tell us to go preach the Gospel to people and be a witness, he instead commands us to be in prayer, to persevere, and to provoke one another to do good works. This may seem surprising, but it’s important for us to pay attention to what the Holy Spirit is telling us through the writer of Hebrews in this passage of Scripture.
Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, all are forgiven who put their trust in Him. But as Pastor Ray points out today, trusting that we truly are forgiven requires great faith. It makes much more sense to believe that we have to earn forgiveness from God, but this isn’t what the Bible says. Scripture tells us that God chooses to remember our sins no more. This kind of grace is almost incomprehensible. Yet it’s true, and as believers, we need to remind ourselves of this whenever we doubt God’s forgiveness.
Today, Pastor Ray explains an Old Testament law that is demonstrated in Jesus’ life. This law stated that a slave, as he approached the end of his time of service, could choose to continue serving his master for life. If he so chose this, the slave would have his ear pierced. In the same way, Jesus chose to “pierce His ear” in a sense and commit His life to the Father. And as Christians, we are called to do the same. We have a good Master, and the best thing we can do in this life is fully committed to Him.
The Bible clearly tells us that we’re saved by God’s grace, not by any works or religious rituals that we do. But Pastor Ray recognizes today how difficult it can be to accept that as a Christian. We know that we can’t earn God’s love or forgiveness, yet we try anyway. Even though the work of salvation has been finished by Jesus Christ, we develop our own systems for how we can be accepted by God. But in these moments, we can go back to the Good News to remember that God has already redeemed us!
It is Finished! It's done! You have life and the promise of forgiveness of sin because of the sacrifice of Jesus’s blood. As Pastor Ray sets the communion table for us today, the reminder that God’s sacrifice was complete! Nothing ever has or ever will take the place of Jesus’s body on the cross that day. He died so that we could live. What else is there? There isn’t another single act in history that can come close to the significance of this account. His sacrifice was enough…it IS enough.
It gives me chills every time I hear it – without the blood sacrifice of Jesus, the Son of God, there would not have been forgiveness for our sins. We all got a second chance. We live the life we have today because of that selfless perfect act of mercy. Today Pastor Ray dives into the bloody truth of the old testament life and what it was like to require sacrifice for sin during that time. Millions of gallons of blood were shed. Unimaginable by today’s standards. I am thankful for a second chance and for His ultimate sacrifice.
Whoever takes the son gets it ALL! Today Pastor Ray shares a story about the deep bond between a father and son, and the value that the father placed in that relationship far beyond what the world placed on his material possessions. Pastor Ray compares this to the love that our Father God has for us and for His Son, Jesus. That God’s only son would be sacrificed for our sins. God values a relationship with you equal to that of His own son. How do you value your relationship with God?
Today Pastor Ray says that being a Christian is a Bloody religion. The original action drama series is about the life of Christians in the old testament. We were heading toward what would be an extinction event, and the blood that was spilled was almost immeasurable. Without Jesus’ blood, our sins would not have been forgiven. Pastor Ray says that up to that point, it was like cleaning a mess without the right cleaning agent. Then Jesus brought His cleaning agent to clean up our mess of sin with ease.
Today Pastor Ray is talking to believers and non-believers alike. There is a cheat code out there – an answer key. The Bible, His Word, is the source of every promise, every warning, every question, and every answer. No matter what is on your mind, or in your heart, you can find the answer in one place – The Bible. If you have been looking for something and haven’t been able to find it yet, there’s a good chance you will find it there and an even better chance that you will find it when you place your faith in God.
Think back to when you were a kid and you were picking teams for a game at recess. Some of you may remember being picked first, but I bet most remember being picked later in the order. Today Pastor Ray shares scripture that illustrates how God “picked” us all. Regardless of our ability, regardless of what we’ve done, or how we think about ourselves – He chooses you! You might think, how could He choose me? But He did – you were chosen and made for a specific purpose – on purpose.
Following orders is something that’s expected. But what if your king or your president was counseling you to do something against God’s commands? You’ll hear about a case today where this was the reality. People knew what they should do, according to God’s plan, but they followed their king instead. Pastor Ray cautions you today to be careful who you’re following, and why. Leadership, and those in authority - have a purpose, but if it contradicts God’s ways, then think twice!
So many things are hard to understand…especially when it comes to what God allows - things that are different than what we think is best. As you’ll hear today, Pastor Ray discusses a situation where King David had a hard time seeing what God was doing. But God was protecting and defending His holiness, and all He was asking for was obedience in the process. Fire is mesmerizing. It can be warm and inviting, but it also has the ability to destroy, to consume what’s been put before it. In today’s teaching, Pastor Ray speaks about coming before God in confession, putting things before this fire that can and will consume everything that’s not supposed to last. So as you listen today, think about what those things might be in your life. Things that need to be consumed and destroyed, for the sake of following Jesus into a life that’s refined, and can be restored.
Maybe you’re familiar with those game shows, where there are 3 doors. Behind each one is either an appealing or unappealing result. There might be an attractive person to date behind one. Another might have a vicious animal waiting to attack you. The third might be some destination that could be good or bad. What Pastor Ray is getting at today is that when it comes to eternity, this is no game. There’s one door that opens up your whole world of opportunities, and it’s the One you want to choose!
If you were to see Jesus in His earthly setting, you wouldn’t think much of Him. He was common, ordinary, and didn’t stand out in any way. It’s no wonder why people from His hometown were extremely doubtful about Jesus being anything other than a simple carpenter’s son. Jesus purposely chose to live a common and plain Jewish life, so that He could relate to you in your common, ordinary life. Pastor Ray helps you see today that Jesus knows what it’s like to be in your shoes! He relates!
Have you ever met someone who’s good at everything? What if you met someone who was a heart surgeon, but also was a certified counselor - on the side? As you’ll hear today, Pastor Ray wants you to acknowledge that it’s God who can change your heart. It’s God’s wisdom and counsel that’s worthwhile to listen to! The next time you’re tempted to seek out worldly people and counsel, remember that God’s ways and will are not what the world would approve of! But God’s will is the way!
You may think it’s perfectly ok to believe in God, trust that He’s saved you from your sins, and carry on with your life - just as you did before you knew Jesus. But in today’s message, you hear a different take on this. Pastor Ray expresses the idea that your life shouldn’t be a cocktail of what the world deems right, but then throw in some Jesus faith too. No, there’s a need to take a stand, and to have pure faith that’s not mixed up in the world’s philosophies and ideologies. Make your faith real!
When you look in a mirror, you expect to see your reflection staring back at you. It would be strange to glance at a mirror and see something that’s hideous and different than what you know you look like. In today’s teaching, Pastor Ray helps you realize that you’re called and expected to reflect what God’s beauty and glory are! There were things in the Old Testament that represented God’s glory, and God wanted them enacted, down to the detail…accurately. So God wants you to reflect Him “to the T!”
When you picture an indigenous people, and they have these tribal rituals and traditions, you notice a raw, warrior-like way about them, and it’s kind of inspiring! The leader is someone you look up to, as an example to follow. Now think of God as your tribal warrior, fighting the battles for you and knowing the victory is His! Today, Pastor Ray asks you to walk in that line of thinking, allowing God to be the One who fights for you, and brings about a victory that’s attainable…because of Him!
There’s only so much you can do on your own. You’re fighting a battle on the ground, but little did you know - that someone on your side of the battle launches an air strike, and takes out the enemy in one fell swoop. This couldn’t have been done by your meager efforts. This was a bigger operation that you had no control over! Do you realize that it’s the same with God in your life? Pastor Ray reminds you today that God can do far more than you can or want to do on your own. God’s on your side!
It’s intriguing when you hear about a special operation that the Navy Seals have been assigned. You don’t know about it until after the fact, but you’re curious about it! It’s a bit dangerous, a bit heroic, and a whole lot of courage. What you’ll hear about today from Pastor Ray is that just like God orchestrated a special op with Abraham, God’s the One in control of your life. He’s aligning all the pieces of the puzzle together, and He’s the One who’s bringing your enemies to you, so you can be victorious!
You can’t add to the work of Jesus Christ. He’s already done everything needed to save you. Following the Ten Commandments down to the letter – which is impossible on an internal, spiritual level – still fails to measure up to the perfection God requires to dwell in His presence. No sacrifice is perfect enough to fill the void between your imperfect soul and God – except for the one that God implemented in His Son Jesus, as Pastor Ray will remind us in today’s message.
The system of sacrifices we read about in the Old Testament was complicated and incomplete. It offered a representation – just a crude symbol – of what was to come in Jesus. As Pastor Ray will point out in today’s message, our flesh predisposes us to wander and disobey God. Even after you experience His salvation, the remnants of that nature will distract and draw you away. But, don’t be afraid, that old system has been completed and the invitation is open to returning to your loving Father.
Have you ever thought of your faith like a muscle? There are quite a few similarities. If you neglect to exercise your body or eat foods that supply healthy nutrients and proteins, your muscles will weaken, and you’ll find yourself lacking in strength when you need it.
