"It's not your ability that defines you, it's your record that defines you." Pastor Craig Campbell, Senior Pastor of Faith Temple here in Rochester NY, shares an amazing word. He reminded us that it is okay to avoid some battles. Those battles we try to face, can cause us to define ourselves in a negative way. But, we must remember that God has a different plan for our lives and some battles belong to Him, not us! Let's stay encouraged by the grace of God as you listen to this wonderful message.
"With radiant love and radical humility we can become overcomers when the light seems to be dim". Brother Nathan and Sister Emily remind us that God will guide us through the darkest times and will eventually show us the light. They mentioned, "if we put our pride aside and let God into our lives, our walk with Christ will become stronger". Philippians talks about how we, as Christians, should shine like stars and guide each other out of the dark. If you are feeling down or feel like things are getting dim, this word would change your view on how you see things into a new perspective!
"When things are difficult, and things are not happening when we think they should, the enemy tries to convince us that we have to beg God for help." Have you ever felt that way? Having gone through the year of 2020, maybe we all feel like nothing is happening. But we serve a God who is forever faithful. In this first President's Chapel of the year, through the stories of several characters in the Bible who had faith in who God was and got what they needed, Dr. Antonelli encourages us in how to take the next step in our lives in this new year.
In our last President's Chapel of 2020, Dr. Antonelli shares a powerful word about endurance. He states, "Endurance is a key word in your ministry if we want to succeed and accomplished the work the Lord has empowered us to do". We all make mistakes in this life, but we must not let those mistakes defeat us but teach us so we can grow further in our walk with the Lord. "When God opens a door, we need to trust Him and follow his voice without fear of the unknowns". Pastors Chris and Carol Ball shared with our student body about trusting in God when He asks us to follow His voice. They state, "Don't fix your eyes on the unknowns because it will bring you fear! Fix your eyes on Jesus and it will bring you peace". We encourage you to listen to this message!
"2020 has been a challenging year, but this is not something new... if you looked at the book of Habakkuk you will find a lot of similarities between the events from Habakkuk's time with what we are living right now". Dr. Antonelli encourages our student body to find joy in the midst of the chaos. "We must not give up! As God is in control even when we don't understand" this is a message that will speak to your heart!
Drew and Lauren Freyder, Pastors of LiFT Church in Salisbury, MD, challenge our student body by giving them four aspects of a Right Spirit Leader. Drew Freyder states, "You don't need to wait to get a leadership position in order to serve people, you serve people before you ever get a position." Drew and Lauren encourage us to stop looking for any kind of leadership positions and instead to look up to the Lord and to serve His people... This message will speak to your heart!
Pastor Joshua Finely, Former Senior Pastor of Elim Gospel Church, encourages our student body be "A Modern Day Levite". Pastor Josh states, "Levites have a heart to seek God and a heart to serve the house of God." We need to remember that there should be a clear separation between Christ Followers and culture. In order to be effective in doing this we should have spiritual potency and cultural fluency... This message will speak to your heart!
This week we have the privilege to hear Pastors Steve and Darla Edlin, Pastors of Faith Church in Rochester, NY. They affirm, "The term of success is not the size, the term of success is Jesus being there." Our success in ministry is not defined by the size of our ministry but the presence of Jesus in that ministry! If you need a fresh message, this one will speak to your heart!
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul writes "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing". Pastor Phil McNeill, Senior Pastor of Word of Life Fellowship, states, "The gifts of the Spirit are not meant to be motivated by anything else but love for God and His people". Pastor Jared Ruddy, Senior Pastor of Elim Gospel Church, reminds us that God does not only love us but He also like us. Pastor Jared affirms, "We don't need to work up for His love. We don't need to construct formulas so God can be pleased with us. He loves us and likes us just are we are". His love should motivate us to live godly lives, we don't need to have godly lives to get His love. This is a message that will speak to your heart.
"If you make the investment of prayer, God will give you the desires of your heart". Dr. A, President of EBIC, states: "If you want to hear God's voice you must turn down the volume of things that raddle in your brain". We need to dedicate our lives to pray and seek God with wholehearted passion. We must do this if we want to hear His voice. Do you struggle with identifying God's voice? This message will help you!
John 13:8-9 "Peter said to Him, 'You shall never wash my feet!' Jesus answered him, 'If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.' Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” Dr. A, new president of EBIC, states "In this crazy world we need Jesus! not just His blessings, but himself". When we go through hardships or things we don't understand, we need simply Jesus! As you listen to this message be encouraged that God is with you until the end of the world.
Our new President, Dr. Fred Antonelli , speaks in his first President's Chapel of the semester. Dr. A encourages our student body to be passionate for Jesus. "When I look at you, I see leaders...there is nothing that can limit God". We are believing for a great revival! As you listen to this message, pray that the Lord will stir up the next generation for His glory!
Pastor Tim Case continues the series of sermons for Worship Emphasis Week by addressing the topic of different ways to worship. He discusses physical ways of showing reverence and praise, and also expresses the importance of giving offerings taken from the blessings God has gifted us with. He ends his message on recognizing the power of music in our worship and encourages us to focus past worldly distractions surrounding our praise to be able to press into the Lord and exalt Him faithfully through all three forms of worship.
"Fools believe that a person can act on their sexual impulses without any consequences," states Pastor Mike Cavanaugh, EBI&C's president in his latest message to the student body. He explains that sexual sins will break us and will ruin our ministries. Premarital sex (fornication), extramarital sex (adultery), and same sex sexual expression (homosexuality) are all immoral sexual relationships that are addressed in the Bible. In this message, Pastor Mike lists several different reasons why it is important to fool-proof your life from any sexual folly and how to best embrace the beauty of a biblical sexual relationship within marriage.
We are in agreement that apples are good and healthy for our body. But imagine that we can eat nothing but one apple for a whole week. Would we be stronger by the end of the week? The answer, of course is no. We wouldn't be able to because eating an apple for a whole week is not enough to keep us strong and healthy. Sometimes this is what we do with our spiritual lives, Danuta Case, Executive Vice-president of EBIC, states "many of us spend at least 2 hours in social media every day, but not enough time with the Lord." How can we be spiritually strong if we spend 15 minutes a week with God buty 2 hours a day with social media? It is time to seek God for more than 15 minutes a week. She challenge us to "make time in our busy agendas to seek God", only then we will be spiritually strong. This is a message that will challenge us to seek spiritual growth.
Have you ever had issues with transitions? How can we navigate transition in a healthy way? "Our life is and will be fill with transitions. From singleness to marriage, different jobs, from student to employee... Are we ready to manage them? Joe Jansen, U.S Ministries Director for Elim Fellowship, remind us that "God has the best interests in mind. He might take us the long way, but it only because he is interested in our growth and knows what is best for us". That's why we need to trust Him. Are you going to a time of transitions? We invite you to hear this message.
Pastor Mike Cavanaugh, EBIC President, exhorts our students and staff to live a life above reproach. "Foolish Behavior", he states, "is often partners with drunkenness in life". "So many mistakes that have hurt people were made under the influence of alcohol. As leaders, we have the choice to abstain from alcohol, not because the bible prohibits drinking, but because it warns us against the influences that alcohol could have in our lives, if we open the door to it. This message will help you reach the destiny God has for you!
"Don't get lost on the story of your own life but look at Him. Look at Jesus". Pat Selvey, International Director Hydrating Humanity, brings a powerful message to EBIC. He states "Jesus created us for His own glory. He knows everything about us and yet He chose to love us". It is our job to believe this truth and to choose Him. Are we willing to accept His love so that we can fix our eyes on Him? This is a message that will challenge your heart!
When was the last time you felt a dark cloud of discouragement covering your lives? Have you felt that you constantly have to prove yourself? Have you felt that success never seems to come easy to you as it comes to others? Mike Cavanaugh, EBIC President, makes us aware that the devil does not only wants to kill us but discredit us. He wants us do do something crazy when we are discourage, such as leave our spouse, quit ministry, cut ourselves off from people... But God want us to live in victory. Through this message, Pastor Mike will help us understand how the Lord help us with discouragement.
"Where do you get the courage to face your giant? Pastor Mike, EBIC President, states: "The basis of giant killing is not what we do, but what we believe about our relationship with God." If we don't believe in God and our relationship with Him, we will never be able to kill that giant. What are the giants you are facing today? This message will help you take action on those situations that make us fear.
Are you interested in missions? Jeff and Becky Hrubik talk about their life growing up in Brazil. They cover what mission’s life is like on these teams based in the Amazon Forest. From planting churches to door to door outreaches, what is God calling you to do?
In Acts 20:22-24, Paul states: "And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace". Toby Cavanaugh, Campus Target Director, states that the secret to changing the world for Christ is to "Be All In for Jesus". We must do whatever He says and go wherever He wants us to go! Are you ready to change the world for Jesus? This message will challenge you to take a risk for Jesus.
When you encounter tough situations or anxiety starts to take over, what do you do about it? Do you doubt God’s goodness and faithfulness? Do you begin to give up, or do you challenge your giants? Mike Cauvanagh covers basic principles on how to challenge your giants and how to see a victory through the hurts and difficulties of life. He takes examples of how to overcome these giants from the books of Joshua and Judges. What giants are you facing right now? Do you believe that God is in complete control of your Giants?
Are we willing to lay down our "I want" or "I will" for the desires of the Lord? Even if what He wants us to do is not what we really want to do? Tom Brazell, former Global Ministry Director for Elim Fellowship, encourage us to change our mentality in regards to our will. He states "that when we do what the Lord asks us to do, even when we don't understand or like it, we will find wonderful fulfillment in Him". His heart for the Lord encourage us to let our will be changed for the will of the Lord. This is a message you don't want to miss.
Matt Drake teaches us about how to find your purpose and calling in life. He also discusses what to expect when God starts to move in your life. He uses stories from his life to encourage us on our journey to the calling God has placed on our lives . “You don’t need a clear call to take a great risk for the Kingdom of God”. What is God calling you to?
The ministry that you have needs to be characterize by this statement: "It is not just by might, it is not just by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord". Rev. Nick Watson, states that "if our ministry is just characterized by what we can do, then we are going to have a limited ministry. We need the partnership of the Holy Spirit in our life and ministry!" He encourage us to partner with the Holy Spirit as we do life and ministry!
There are two types of complainers; analytical and critical. We need to be more like analytical complainers. Pastor Mike states "the number one lie is this one: if someone is close to God, they will have less problems", However, everyone has problems. All complaining is against God, He takes it personally, and He get angry when we complain. The remedy for complaining is praise and gratitude. When we are anxious about the future we are complaining in advance. In every situation that comes our way, we need to give thanks and praises to the Lord
Simmon Tanner, Director of Helimission shares a powerful message about desiring the fire of God. Simmon states that the majority of Christians desire the presence of God but a few desire His fire. His refining fire! "Many times we forget that fruit comes from God's fire. The most beautiful things come from fire! We need to go through it so that we can be more like God" Are you willing to desire His fire so that you can be more like Him?
Bonny Hoeflein, and EBIC alumni shares a powerful message on the faithfulness of God! She states that "Throughout the ages, God is faithful. When you go through hardships, God is still there." Through her Elim experiences, she encourages to trust in God! Listen to this message, you won't regret it!
As we continue with our message from last week, 7 keys to changing your future, Pastor Mike Cavanaugh encourages us to persevere. Changing our future is not easy. Many times we may want to settle for the minimum, but we need to persevere making these changes. We need to press on even if it's painful or as Pastor Mike says, "we need to give up to go up!"
"If you were to continue to live your live the way you are today, and you were to die at 80, what regrets would you have? That is if nothing changed, what regrets might you have?" In this new school year Pastor Mike's heart is to see our students succeed in different areas. Through this message, he encourages us to grow in planing.
Love God and love your neighbor are commandments that summarize the Bible. As Pastor Phil McNeil says it: "These two commandments are pegs, a marking position, something that holds everything together". "Loving God is a peg in the midst of every storm. Loving your neighbor is a peg in the midst of every storm". This is what God has for you! When you are going into life and can't figure out what is going on and everything is falling apart, you need to go back to these "pegs" just keep loving God and your neighbor!
"A detour is a sudden change in our direction forced on us by circumstances outside of our control. This change is unexpected, time consuming, and contrary to our plans. The emotion that accompanies this experience is frustration, disappointment or anger." Can you identify with this? Think of a woman who had her life planned with a happy retirement when all of a sudden her husband dies, the missionary who was sent home because of illness or buying a car just to get in an accident that left the car unusable. God allow us to take detours in our lives because He is working on us. If you are going through a detour in your life, I encourage you to listen to this message.
Do you find yourself having a hard time trusting God to bring you into his promises? Sometimes things don't seem to make sense from our perspective. Rachel Yoder, Student Accounts Manager in EBI&C states that "many times we need to live beyond our understanding that is so limited and trust the ways of the Lord". When we are finding it difficult to walk in trust, we need to remind ourselves of who God is and take a step of faith towards his promise, and watch as he moves forward with us. Be encouraged today that God can be trusted to bring you into his promises.
The old hymn says, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives". Anxiety is not an unfamiliar feeling. We all have experienced it at some point in our lives. Sometimes, it attacks us in the moments when we are not expecting it.
What should we do? Should we allow it to control our minds and emotions? Is it worth it to be anxious? Do my problems get better when I get anxious? Gabriel Cepeda, Worship and Tech Coordinator at Elim Bible Institute and College, shares a powerful message on anxiety. Transition is a natural part of our walk with the Lord. Thankfully, we have a perfect road map for navigating these times of transition, which can be times of turmoil, fear, and unrest. It is out of this place of peace, tranquility and calm -- being completely at home and secure in our identity as a son and daughter of God, that we minister the power of the Kingdom of God, quieting the storms and turmoil in the hearts of those to whom God sends us. This massage is for you!
In their statistics, Barna Group states that "One in four Christians struggles to forgive people", from the people who were poled, 88% were familiar with the teaching of Jesus such as the story of the prodigal son found in Luke 15. Why do we struggle with loving and forgiving others? As Christians, we know we are called to love God and to love our neighbors. But, why is this so hard to do? especially loving others? Through this message, Emily Sanders, Campus Life Director of EBI&C, takes us on a journey to discover why the second great commandment is hard to follow. This is a message you do not want to miss.
Do you feel like you are making sacrifices? Do you feel that you are giving it all? To your husband, to your wife, to you children, to your parents, to your siblings, in your church, at your work? Many of us may be tired from all the sacrifices we make daily. But, is there any chance that your sacrifice is just disobedience? Matt Drake, Admissions Director at EBI&C, states that "Many times we decide to not obey the task the Lord has given to us. Instead, we choose to make sacrifices that He has not asked us to do." For example, the Lord may ask us to forgive someone, but we decide to sacrifice our time by doing more ministry at church instead. Through 1 Samuel 15, Matt Drake speaks to us on the importance of wholehearted obedience instead of sacrifice. This is a message you don't want to miss.
Many people believe that God's love is dependent on their love for Him. In other words, we think that God will only love us if we love him first. But, if that is the way how this works, then everything is dependent upon us and that is scary! This mind set will take us to live our lives fill with anxiety. We won't be able to serve Him, because we will think that if we sin or fail to love Him, He will not love us back. Pastor Mike, explains that this is not what Scriptures teaches. 1 John 4:19 mentions "We love Him (God), because He first love us". How can you be an effective part of your local church? Many times people have a hard time being a productive piece in their local church. Often some of these difficulties can take place because a person is unwilling to give up their personal rights. Brother Joe touches on the Reckless love that God has for us. Even if we continue to make the same mistakes, or even new ones, God’s love for us never changes. “As low as you are, Jesus will go lower to be able to lift you back up.” Brother Joe also made the point that we must not use scripture to judge others, but we must use it as a mirror to look at ourselves and remove the blemishes from our lives.
Sister Sylvia Evans speaks on the fact that we as people are called to something that is so much bigger than us. Even when we are called to a season of waiting, it does not mean that our part in the kingdom is over. It just means that God wants us to rest, so we can fulfill greater things in His kingdom. “Our security comes from how much revelation we personally get about who God is.” We must press on, even when we are faced with challenges. We must press on to glorify God.
How perfect love drives out fear. We are challenged to have mature, complete love, because that is the kind of love that drives out fear. However, we must go through a process before we can have this type of love. Our love matures as we walk through our faith. As long as there is fear within us, there remains a greater revelation of the love of God waiting to be revealed to us.
Pastor Jared teaches on how we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. We must learn to un-learn, so we can have a closer, more intimate relationship with God. We must stop being complacent. Instead, we need to determine in our minds that we are going to meet with Jesus. We must stop being distracted by others around us or whether we like the worship song. Rather, we must surrender ourselves to being present in God to just sit in His presence.
Brother Sonny touches on how God gives us “No’s” in our lives so that He can give us a better “Yes”. God will only give us the desires of our heart if they align with His will for our lives. We must pray not for our will to be done, but that Father God’s will be done in our lives. We must remember that our God in heaven has our best in mind. He gives us His desires that should be in our hearts.
Brother Sonny teaches on how we must look at the operating system on how we view God. We must see what we need to change so we can step into a whole, intimate relationship with God. We must not live by feeling; we must live by faith in God. God is a Father who is always with us. He is not a God who is far away. He is always with us through everything.
The mistakes we make don’t define us. Our past doesn’t define our future. We must have an eternal focus. We must look for God ideas to strive toward, to gain a worthwhile cause. We must not live for ourselves, because we will not find satisfaction in that. We will only find satisfaction if we are living for God the Father.
Brother Sonny touches on how we must not let our shame hold us back from drawing close to God. We must accept that God accepts us. Shame keeps us from enjoying God as Father and approaching Him freely. We must determine who defines us.
We must look back to where our faith started. We need to see an uprising of God lovers and spirit walkers who are pressing in to what God has for them. We can look at what people in the Bible walked through and learn from their examples. We must not be afraid to make waves in the world. The path of God is not easier or normal; it is supernatural and powerful.
Prayer should be a dialog. One of the significant parts of Prayer Week is when we break into small groups to pray for each other and to intentionally and prayerfully listen for God's response. Dr. John Miller, encourage us to grow in the prophetic ministry. This is a powerful sermon you don't want to miss.
We often carry our earthly father wounds into the relationship we have with Christ. God wants to restore the Father relationship that was broken in the Garden of Eden, so that we can have an intimate relationship with Him, because He is not a far-off, distant God. We must stand in the spiritual identity that we are Children of God. We are under His authority.

“We need to live our lives loving on people. The body of Christ is multicultural. It’s our job to immerse ourselves in multicultural relationships” affirms Dr. John Miller. The Bible in 1 Corinthians 12:21-26 says “The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. James 4:13-17 “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’ yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin”.

We must serve the Lord with gladness. As we go into God’s presence, we need to be sensitive to what he’s saying. As we do this, we must give Him praise and glory as we pray and sing. Through this, we will see God like we never have before.

Our ministry needs to be like a rifle. We must be focused on what God wants us to do and aim towards it with all we have. The ministry can be so overwhelming that we can maybe lose focus and be tempted to use a shotgun and blast anything that comes in front of us. But God doesn’t want that. He wants a people who will use a rifle and be focused on what he’s doing.
