What makes it easy for others may make it harder for us. Sometimes we view our circumstances as barriers preventing us from putting others first. When faced with the opportunity to escape from prison, Paul chose to spare someone else’s life over chancing his own fate. It didn’t make sense, but it changed everything for one person.

The Greatest Generation. Baby Boomers. Generation X. Millennials. Generation Z. Each generation is distinct from those that came before and those that come after. They have different priorities and different experiences. They see the world differently. It’s easy for the generations to live in conflict and competition. But what is our responsibility to the next generation? Bottom line: The faith of the next generation is worth everything.

Adult friendships are difficult to find, indescribably precious, and absolutely intended by God. For most of us, when we were kids our friends were everything to us. But something changed as we journeyed into adulthood. Great friendships are rare as adults. It’s harder to find them, and it takes effort to maintain them. As a result, we settle for mediocre friendships that are convenient or functional. However, we’re made for something more. God designed us for life together, not on our own. True friendship will cost you to have and to keep, but it’s a price infinitely worth paying.

We need the shameless audacity prayers, the bold and specific prayers, and the groaning prayers, but we also need the everyday, normal rhythm of prayer and life together with God. Prayer is the source of Jesus’s most astonishing miracles and the subject of Jesus’ most audacious promises, and yet, most people – even most Bible-believing Christians – find prayer to be boring, obligatory, disappointing, confusing, or, most often, all of the above. This series is your invitation to trade your conceptions and misconceptions about prayer for prayer in its purest form: a vital, sustaining, powerful connection with God that is more real and alive than you could have ever imagined.

Ezekiel 37:1-14 2020 has felt like a series of gut punches - we just keep getting the wind knocked out of us and yet, here we are at a new beginning. So how do we move forward and begin again well? Turns out God has plenty to say….. we just need to breathe.

Scripture Reference: John 16:16-33 Things happen in life and we start to ask ourselves, “Why is this happening? What does this mean?” We want there to be order to the universe. We want to assign meaning to things so that nothing, and especially our trouble, feels like it’s in vain. But is that really how things work? Jesus actually has some things to say about the things life throws our way.

Philippians 4:10-13 We’re all spending a lot of time and energy trying to convince the world, and ourselves, of all the things we can do. And then when it becomes glaringly obvious to us, the world, or both, that we can’t - we disintegrate, we hide, we let our discontentment drive us in all sorts of sideways and self-destructive directions…but what if Jesus had a better way?

Grace is the unsettling solution to just about everything. This Christmas, we could be part of the unsettling solution and, it could be amazing.
John 1:14 & Luke 23:32-43
There is an unsettling solution for just about everything, and we can sum it up in one word. Grace. It’s the undeserved, unearned, unearnable favor that Jesus came to offer us. So why wouldn’t we want Christianity to be true? And where should you start if it’s a word that was never part of the equation for you?
1 Timothy 6:17-19

Ecclesiastes 2 and 1 Corinthians 15 It's Labor Day weekend and we want to talk about your labor. Does work feel meaningless? Has cynicism crept into your life along with a weariness of it all? It doesn't have to be that way. God wants us to have soft hearts and hard feet, not hard hearts and soft feet - and Jesus makes all the difference between the two.
The Church is remarkable. And against all odds, it changed the world. There is still a great deal that needs changing. By God’s grace and with your help, perhaps we can be a small part of bringing about that change.

A great marriage doesn’t happen by accident. It requires care and regular maintenance. But sometimes we don’t want to make the effort. As long as it’s not broken, do we really need to talk about it?

Psalm 100 - enduring love of God, faithful to all generations (preview Generations series coming in the fall) It is the perseverance of God and the endurance of His love and faithfulness that leaves room for our endurance. Walk around the wall one more time. Romans 5:1-5 - the power is in the process
We never set out to create a disaster and ruin our lives and the lives of others we love It starts with one bad decision - we get out of place How do we stay in place? The best way to keep our place is to remember God’s place. 2 Samuel 11:1-3
1 Samuel 26:1-12 We wait on God’s perfect timing. David reigned in the palace, but only after he spent his childhood tending sheep and his teenage years playing harp for the king. Are we willing to serve in the background? Are we willing to let God do the preparing?
People who were not like Jesus liked Jesus, and he liked them back. Since the church is the body of Christ, people should be drawn to Jesus followers. Even if they don’t agree with the message of the church, they should like the church. So, why isn’t that true?
Mother's Day at Ashley Ridge Matthew 16:13-19 What if there was one question that answered all the others?
Numbers 13:26-14:9 What giants are we afraid of? Staying isn’t an option, going back isn’t an option, and at some point we have to cross into the Promised Land.
John 4:1:26 - do we have the awkward conversations or do we stay on the surface where it's safe? Jesus goes to the deepest well and says he can fill it to overflowing. We don't have to be afraid of the tough stuff, of going there with our people. In fact, if we don't, who will?
Acts 11:1-18 - Change gives us opportunity to grow and embracing it teaches us to expect God to surprise and amaze us at every turn.
John 11:38-44 - Intentional communication honors the intentional work Jesus did of making God known. How are we using our blinkers to over communicate?
2 Kings 2:7-15 - "You're not responsible for filling everyone's bucket, but you are responsible for emptying yours." How are you actively giving away the ministry God has entrusted to you?
John 1:43-51, Jesus came from Nazareth and spent his time and ministry intentionally. He valued the quality over the quantity. (also think Mary and Martha)
Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 - no one was meant to do life alone. Together is harder, but it's better that way.
Proverbs 18:24, Ruth 1:8-18, Job 2:11-13, John 15:12-15 - Faith-filled friendships are thicker than water or blood.

We took a Sunday to answer the questions that you submitted. Most of the subjects asked about would take much longer to talk about, but we gave the 10,000 ft view working with the time allowed. Watch Jenn's blog for more detailed answers.
Joshua 6:15-20, what if the Israelites had stopped walking around Jericho after the sixth day? What if on the seventh day, they stopped after lap 6? It's the start of year seven at Ashley Ridge Church - what if it's our time to take the land?
Joshua 4:19-24 - what are we telling our kids about God's promises and His faithfulness? How are we setting up the next generation for faithfulness.
"Remember" - 1 Chronicles 16:12-22 A big part of worship is remembering what God has done and telling that story over and over. We need to practice remembering

Jesus said we would have trouble in this world. To make it through the trouble and the darkness, we need some tools to help us remember the light.
Proverbs 3:1-12 - We need people walking with us on the path to wisdom. Who's walking in front of you? Who's walking beside you? Who's walking behind you?
It all boils down to love. Love from a savior. Love to a neighbor in need. By spending just a little less on gifts we free up our resources to love as Jesus loves by giving to those who really need help.
We know what you're thinking. "Wait, didn't they just say I should spend less, and yet here they are telling me to give more? What gives?" The most powerful, memorable gift you can give to someone else is yourself. And nobody modeled this more than Jesus. So what does this look like for you? Tickets to a ball game or the theater? A movie night? The main point is simple: When it comes to spending time with those you love, it's all about quality, not quantity.
Christmas marks the moment where God's promise was fulfilled and love took form, tiny fingers and all. It is a moment that deserves our full attention and praise. Our involvement at Christmas is based entirely on how much we are celebrating Christ's birth. He deserves celebration; one that is creative, loud and directs every heart His way.
God gives and we bring. What we bring and how we bring, well that's the FUN part. In the second part of this series, we explore the why behind our giving...I mean bringing.
If you compare God's economy with the economy of our world, it's pretty upside-down. In the first message of this series, we explore what that means, how God's economy works and the investment He makes in you and me.
Looking at Joshua 6, in the most ridiculous battle of all time the Israelites walk around the city blowing trumpets while all of Jericho looks on and laughs. We're going to look silly doing things God's way, but we have to obey anyway. Obedience isn't about everything making sense, it's about trusting the One who is asking us to walk through the wall.
In Joshua 5, they learn a painful lesson about the fact that it hurts before it gets better. They had to be patient and wait for healing to come.
In Joshua 4, Joshua insists on giving away credit and making sure everyone (including himself) recognizes God as the true leader. He had the humility to recognize he wouldn't make it on his own. This week I'll be focusing on the fact that if we're tempted to take the blame we'll also be tempted to take the credit. It's God's battle.
