I don't even know where to start with this episode. This episode is about a medication that no longer exists but is similar to Vick's topical analgesic.

I was so unsatisfied by other re-tellings and explanations of this legend that I did an intense deep dive into it. I ended up obsessing over Father Gallitzin and did a cradle to grave biography about him and his episode is on this feed as well.
The Mystery of the Wizard Clip is a supernatural event that took place in the 1790’s in Middleway, West Virginia which was investigated by the Catholic church. Was the Wizard Clip a ghost or a demon? Could it have simply been a human prankster? Listen to this Patreon exclusive and decide for yourself!
Apologies for my breathing being so prominent in this episode. I was still struggling with some asthma issues during this recording, it was also very late at night when I found time to record so I was sighing and yawning also. I try to hold myself to a higher standard and will try to do better in the future, but unfortunately at the moment I have to steal recording time when I can. Thank you so much for understanding!

I also watched some videos by Jim Surkamp who apparently was the Jefferson County Commissoner at one point. I couldn’t find out much about him but I guess he’s a historian and writer.

Today's Patreon exclusive episode is about the alien gravesite in Aurora, TX that reportedly contains the remains of "Ned", an alien who crash-landed and died. Is it a hoax? What do you think?
If you grew up in Alabama, you have probably been told the legend of Noccalula Falls. Many people do not know that this is a made-up story that is harmful to indigenous people of the United States rather than being a romantic story.

Miss Baker was a squirrel monkey who is buried just outside the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. Miss Baker was the first mammal to survive being launched into space.
Trigger warning for animal lovers. This episode, unfortunately, contains sad details regarding the mistreatment of animals.
Today's short episode is about a weird cocktail from "long time ago days" when people added ammonia smelling salts to coca-cola as a health tonic. It was very popular in the US and some people still enjoy it today.
After Roselind Nadine Earles passed away a week before Christmas, her parents honored her memory by building a permanent playhouse structure as a mausoleum over her grave site. Her parents are buried beside her in Lanett, Alabama.

In the South, we do things a lil bit different. Especially when it comes to weddings. Is burying a bottle of bourbon an ancient pagan ritual passed down from generations to curry favor with the gods that control the weather, or is it a made up tradition created by the alcohol industry?
The Mothervine is a muscadine wine grape vine that is the oldest in the United States. It has been getting people lit, turnt, and crunk for hundreds of years. Was it planted by the Croatan tribe or maybe even by the Lost Colony of Roanoke? Listen to find out.
While researching the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles I came across this case and decided to research it further. It opened a can of worms about Raymond's family, but I ended up making a full episode about it for Patreon. I mean no insensitivity whatsoever to surviving members of these families.

Another article read with commentary by me. This article drew my attention because of the large illustration, which was not very common at the time. This article is about a woman who was arrested and charged with murder for being an abortionist that ran a confinement home for women. A young lady died while in her care as the result of an illegal abortion.
As I was researching Hotel Majestic for an episode on the main feed I came across an article that I wanted to share with listeners but would not make sense in the episode, because I thought it was funny.
I also included another article about a male cobra that ate a female cobra whole, but the writer wrote the article as if the mated pair were in a domestic quarrel that ended in violence.
Another minimally edited episode for those who are interested in my pet research project, the city of Anniston and the Victoria Inn/Hotel Finial. This episode never made it on to the Patreon feed as life was so hectic I never had time to compile my recordings how I wanted.
On my Patreon feed I used to read old articles from a subscription based archival newspaper site in order to give extra context to some of my episodes for those who want exhaustive deep dives.
I did one of my first episodes on Victoria Inn/Hotel Finial. Its history is one of my pet projects and I wanted to share that with others who might find it interesting, in the knowledge that many will not. I think this episode might only be interesting to those who live or used to live in the Anniston area and care about its history.
This episode was very minimally edited and was meant to undergo more editing and then go onto the Patreon feed but I left it a bit rough. I decided not to keep editing and to go ahead and post it. The Kirby House is what the Victoria Inn/Hotel Finial was once called. I did one of my first episodes on Victoria Inn/Hotel Finial. Its history is one of my pet projects and I wanted to share that with others who might find it interesting, in the knowledge that many will not. Donated to the anti-segregationist Methodist congregation by industrialist Henry Flagler in 1886, this church is both beautiful and historically significant.
My apologies for how breathy this episode is. I have some mild asthma and it was acting up a little bit on my recording day. I tried to edit it out as much as I could but there were some louder breaths and sighs I could not isolate and get rid of.

I posted a ton of photos for these episodes on the Heinous Hotels social media pages. Part 1 and 2 of this Grandma Bandit story are another cradle to grave biography of Ethel Catts, one of the most fascinating people I've researched. But no one knows who she is. She had a tragic life story and as a result became infamous as the Grandma Bandit late in life. I extensively and exhaustively researched her life. I hope you enjoy these episodes.

This is a terribly sad event that I tried to handle with all sensitivity. I think we can learn a lot from this which is the only reason I will post this episode. There were so many failures of our healthcare and justice system that could have prevented everything that happened.

This special episode starts off spooky season 2020! This episode is all about hotels where pets that have passed on aren’t letting a little thing like mortality stop them from cuddling into guests’ beds, prowling for mice, or barking in the night. Some dogs are so loyal, they never really live their homes. Some cats are so spoiled, they decide to spend their 10th life in the luxury and comfort they were accustomed to for eternity. Featured in this episode are the following hotels:
Crescent Hotel and Spa in Eureka Springs
Arkansas Stanley Hotel in Estes Park
Colorado Holly Hotel in Holly, Michigan
Airth Castle in Stirlingshire, Scotland
Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, New York
Tokeland Hotel in Tokeland, Washington

This hotel has two centuries worth of stories contained in its walls! In its past lives, it was a theater, convent, and girls’ orphanage. Now as a hotel many visitors and staff claim the building is haunted. Architectural Digest names Bourbon Orleans as 3rd of the top 20 haunted hotels in America. USA Today names Bourbon Orleans Hotel as among the top 10 most haunted hotels. Listen and decide for yourself!

This week I'm bringing you a preview from Patreon. Enjoy a preview of my Wizard Clip episode and a short clip from my Grace United Methodist Church episode. My apologies for how breathy this episode is. I have some mild asthma and it was acting up a little bit on my recording days. I tried to edit it out as much as I could but there were some louder breaths and sighs I could not isolate and get rid of. There also may be noise from Juno, which I don't edit as much on Patreon as I do on my normal podcast because on Patreon we are a bit more casual.
