In this second portion of the episode, we continue to look at the story of Lazarus' resurrection. Jesus was angry about what Satan had done—the way humanity had been ravaged and harmed. He loves us so much that He came to make a way for us to be restored to God! How amazing His love is for us!
The story of Lazarus reveals that Mary and Martha struggled with their faith even as they had assurance about Jesus' identity. Likewise, even as we grapple with the difficult parts of our faith, we can go to Jesus, commune with His people, and stay the course.
Just like the Queen of Sheba was willing to go to great lengths to hear the truth of God, we should pursue God's Word with passion! Jesus is the better Solomon who holds all the riches and the wisdom of God's kingdom! What better pursuit is there than to follow Jesus with our entire lives?
In this second portion of the episode, we'll continue to explore the story of the Queen of Sheba and her visit to Solomon. Her long journey confirmed that Solomon indeed had the wisdom and riches that she'd heard about; and she realized that wisdom is more valuable than anything else worth pursuing. May we have the same passion for God's wisdom as this queen!
Two nations were battling in Rebekah's womb, according to God's ordained plan. Esau coveted Isaac's blessing, however, and wasn't satisfied with God's word. How often do we settle for someone else's blessing instead of the specific path God has for us? Let's trust that His plan is best!
2 Timothy 1 gives us a powerful example of how to handle abandonment and rejection from others. Paul had been forsaken by many, but he refused to focus on the negative. He even prayed for mercy for his opposers! Are we secure enough in our relationship with God and our Christian brothers and sisters to do the right thing—even if we're standing alone?
Luke 5 holds the story of Levi and the feast that he threw for Jesus. We see people from all walks of life at this dinner—even those looked down upon by the religious officials. Jesus taught us that our role is to be salt and light to the world, not to avoid or to shun it! We can't be so outwardly moral that we miss the work our Savior wants to do in and through us!
In this episode, we take a look at the faith of David, who could go through a hardship one minute and write a song about God's faithfulness the next minute. The question for us isn't how much we can do in our own strength; the question is this: will we trust God and have faith in His ability to do what we can't?

There's a Japanese proverb that says, "When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person that walked in. That's what the storm is all about." God has a purpose in every storm he allows us to walk through—will we trust Him in the midst of the storms?
In this second portion of the message, we focus on Joseph and his response to the news of Jesus' first coming. Jesus fulfilled hundreds of years of prophecies, which Mary and Joseph would have been familiar with as those in the line of David. Still, it took faith for Joseph to lay aside what the situation seemed to be and trust what God was telling him!
Hebrews 11 teaches us that faith is making every decision in your life with God's promises in mind. When we know and trust God and His Word, we won't be afraid of the obstacles and challenges ahead of us; instead, we'll follow the example of the saints of old and lean into our Lord!
When God chooses you, it doesn't matter what others say about you or the background you come from. Joseph and Mary were selected to be Jesus' earthly parents, and they had faith that God would give them everything they needed to fulfill their significant roles.
The story of a man born blind so that the glory of God would be displayed teaches us that God's purposes are more important than the "whys" behind our hardships. How does God want to bring Himself glory through your weakness?

He was so focused on his accolades and his riches that he neglected an opportunity to tell visitors about his God! May we never lose sight of the ultimate purpose of our success—or take credit for what God has graciously given to us!
Despite the tangible proof that everything God had promised the Israelites was true, they found reasons not to trust that He would lead them to inherit the Promised Land. Courage is when you're scared but you still show up, trusting God to get you across the finish line.

God's power enables us to live blameless and unashamed, no matter what others say about us or do to us! Put your trust in Him instead of others, and you'll be able to live in peace and confidence.

David and Jonathan were the best of friends—so much so that Jonathan gave David his royal clothes. Their covenant was one of trust, and it enabled David to wear a prince's robe; it foreshadows the righteousness of Christ that we now put on as a result of Christ's finished work!
Genesis 15 shows us what happens when we trust God and make Him our greatest reward. Abraham trusted that God's promise to him would be fulfilled, even though he couldn't see the evidence of that promise yet. He never lost faith in God, because he knew who He is!
How can we rejoice in the Lord in the midst of dire circumstances? Paul gives us a powerful example. From prison, he and Silas praised God and offered Him unconditional worship. God commands us to rejoice in Him always and to not be anxious about anything. Let's let go of our worries in exchange for His peace!
In this episode, we'll look at the sons of Isaac and Rebekah. They were extremely different, and God told the family that they'd be two different nations. Jacob and Esau were at odds for years, and Jacob learned throughout this process that the only way for him to survive was to hold on to God!
Romans 8 tells us that everything works together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Even when we don't fully understand why things happen the way they do, we can trust in our God and in His sovereignty and ability to work everything out for His perfect plan!

After Elijah gave King Ahab a negative word, he pouted and felt sorry for himself. Because he didn't lead his household with strength, Jezebel was free to exercise her wicked ways and endanger God's prophet. No woman can love a man hard enough to make him strong.

In 2 Kings 6, we find the story of the people of Samaria, who were in a desperate famine due to siege. Elisha was the people's scapegoat for this crisis, yet he acted with maturity and grace towards the people. Only when the king got his pride under control did God speak! May we humble ourselves before God and hear from Him before blaming others for our situations!
In this episode, we'll continue looking at God's design for the family, and the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar. Despite the circumstances, God was with Hagar and Ishmael and sustained them in the wilderness. He can strengthen and sustain you despite your circumstances, as well!
In Genesis 21, we see a dysfunctional dynamic in Abraham's family. Abraham had to stand up and take responsibility for the problems in his family—even the things that weren't his idea, to begin with. We must do the same in our families.
In this second portion of the message, we'll continue looking at the story of Elijah and Elisha. We need to count the cost of God's calling on our lives, even if it costs us more than we expected. Elisha was willing to burn the bridges in his life and go all-in with his new mentor.
In this episode, we look at the life of Elijah. He was a leader designed and destined to transfer his anointing to his protegé, Elisha. Our calling is also to raise up others and leave a legacy behind us.
In Judges 6, the people of Israel only turned to God when they were in trouble. God appointed Gideon, even though he didn't believe in himself, to save Israel through His power. The only thing we need to know to walk in victory is that God is with us and that He's told us to go forward!
Nicodemus was a member of the Pharisees, yet his curiosity about Jesus led him to visit the Lord at night. In blunt honesty, Jesus outlines His one-of-a-kind relationship to the Father and explains the death and rebirth that's necessary for someone to become a child of God.
In this second portion of this episode, we'll continue to look at the purposes God has in allowing us to go through dry wilderness seasons. Even Jesus had these seasons—but He left them in the power of the Spirit! Jesus made a habit of going to the synagogue, reading the Word, and sitting under teaching—even though He was the embodiment of the Word of God. How much more should we do the same!
In Luke 4, we see the story of Jesus' baptism. Heaven opened and God's people heard from Him for the first time in 400 years. The Father affirmed Jesus as His Son, and the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a dove in the same moment. If even Jesus had to go through wilderness experiences after this, we will also need to rely on God in the midst of our difficult days!
In John 18, we find the story of Jesus walking with His disciples during His last hours on earth. Even though He's about to experience unspeakable pain, He takes these moments to impart wisdom and comfort to His disciples, taking care of them to the very end.

Jesus also persevered in the mission God set before Him—and since He did, we have the privilege of being clothed in His righteousness!

Every man needs help – God created man and woman to be together. When we better understand the roles we are meant to play in marriage, we can appreciate the blessing of marriage more, and more healthily love our companions.
The way men and women feel love, respected, and valued differs. Through a better understanding of how God created male and female, we can be more effective in our marriages and stronger in our families.

We must live and operate with integrity. When we analyze Joshua's story, we can learn more about covenants and God's expectation of us to honor covenants that we enter into.
Just because we have faith doesn't mean our lives will be easy. God desires for us to have faith in Him – when we have a better understanding of what true faith looks like, we can do this in any and all situations.
Staying angry is dangerous – when we let it get out of hand, it can take us to a bad place – relationally, environmentally, and spiritually – without us even realizing it. Anger in itself isn't bad, but if we let it go unchecked and unhandled, it will become a problem.
God should be our first priority! Not only because of His nature, but also because He wants the best for us. We must trust in God's plans for our lives over our own and put Him first!
The Lord doesn't care about our earthly achievements like awards, diplomas, and certifications. God is in the people business – He cares whether or not we spread His love and message. If this is God's focus, it needs to be ours as well!
Sometimes, we'll face situations that only the Lord can help us out of. These situations help us grow and receive revelation of what we are capable of with God's assistance.
We can't second guess what the Lord has promised to do in our lives. Remain focused on Him, and don't look down! When we take our focus off Him, we will lose faith in what He is doing in our lives.
The biblical principles God gives us through His Word are law! They always are true, no matter the time we are in or our location. Learn to trust in what the Lord has said – trust in the principles of His Word.
When God tells you to do something... do it! We should strive to complete whatever the Lord is guiding us to do. Even when we don't feel like it or understand it, trust in the Lord always.
Whenever we are going through difficult or painful situations, we can find comfort in the fact that Christ our Savior has also felt what we have felt. He knows the pain of our struggles. Recognize this and strive to keep your head up!
When we get our foundation right – the way we think about ourselves, others, and the Lord – everything else falls into place! When our foundation is right, we can live as God intended us to.
As believers, we shouldn't just want to get by in life – we should try to be victorious in the name of the Lord! We have power through Christ – recognize this, embrace it, and live for His glory!
No matter what we are going through in life, our God is greater! We can't allow external events to exhaust our faith – continue following the Lord in obedience and you will prevail according to His plan for you.
God desires for us to live out loud – to live our lives in obedience and faith to Him! We can't keep His love for ourselves. Strive to live out loud and be a display of His love to those around you.
Blessings can turn into obstacles when we try to stay in seasons the Lord has sent us longer than He has instructed us to. We must make sure our faith is in the Lord and not in the protection, comfort, or provision He has blessed us with.
We aren't meant to pitch our belief to people – instead, we should live out our faith and be a display of Christ's love! God wants to show others His power, love, and grace through how we live. But first, we need to make sure our relationship with Him is right.
The question usually isn't whether or not we worship God, the question is whether or not God is the only thing we worship. Oftentimes, believers aren't willing to go all in. Don't let this be you – make sure the Lord has your undivided worship and attention!
We must be intentional to humble ourselves before the Lord as well as resisting the temptations of the devil. If we only do one or the other, we can't be fully obedient to God with our lives.
We can't go to the Lord in prayer when we are in strife – internally or with others. The enemy will consistently try to get us to disagree regarding trivial issues. Don't let yourself fall into divisive behavior.
We can't get caught up in comparing our righteousness to that of those around us. We are all guilty and all are in need of grace – recognize this and humble yourself before the Lord when you pray!
When things aren't going our way, we need to go to the Lord in prayer! He is the answer to our problems and has plans for us. Don't get complacent in places of limitation – pray and advance into God's plan for your life!
Oftentimes, we'll face the same obstacles repeatedly in life until we are willing to change. We must recognize the power of prayer and use it throughout our lives – not just when we are struggling. This is the first step to winning in prayer!
We cannot let difficult circumstances or sin in our life turn us away from God. Instead, we must keep our focus on Him no matter what happens – continue to pray in faith and trust in the Lord's plan!
When we pray for something, we should pray with confidence that God can and will deliver, not from a place of half-hearted faith. Strive to pray with wholehearted confidence!
We shouldn't just pray to check a box. Prayer is a powerful tool given to us from the Lord, use it wisely! Lean into prayer and the Lord's presence continually and don't let external events cause your faith to falter.
When we are regularly in prayer, our attitude will inevitably be one of gratitude. By keeping our faces focused upon the Lord, His Word, and His guidance, we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way.
If you only pray when you want things, you're praying all wrong! Through a better understanding of what prayer is and what it should be used for, we can grow closer in our relationship with God and more effectively pursue His will for our lives.
We must recognize the reality of adversity in our lives and approach it with the correct mindset – that with the Lord's help, we can overcome! When this is our perspective, we pray amidst our trouble instead of becoming fearful.
We have to recognize our identity as children of God and base our perceptions of the world around this identity. When we put our self-worth and value in Christ, we can live, love, and act in His name for His glory.
If we want to change the way we live and what we are doing, we'll need to start with the change of our mind! When we adopt a more accurate perspective of the world according to God's Word, we can be more closely we follow Him!
If God can transform the life of someone like Paul, don't you think He can transform ours as well? No matter our pasts, our futures can be lived in obedience for the glory of the Lord!
Through the story of Saul becoming Paul, we have valuable lessons into God's character, love, and mercy for His children – and even those who have yet to accept His love.

In John 6, we find the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. While the crowd followed Christ because they wanted to see His miracles, the disciples were in a leadership training intensive. Jesus was going to show them that it matters less how much you have than whose hands you place it in!
When the Israelites complain incessantly to Moses in the wilderness, Moses loses his temper. We find that anger can have a hypnotizing effect on us, causing us to overreach and even step into sin, if we’re not careful. Moses learned that there’s a time to be quiet and let God handle the drama, instead of taking matters into our own hands.
In Matthew 14, the disciples learn an important lesson: you can be in the will of God and still encounter trouble and tribulation. Every storm is a lesson on what God will empower us to overcome. It won’t always make sense, but we must choose whether or not to focus on the storm or on God’s Word!
When the Philistines go after the Ark of the Covenant, they learn an important lesson: neither the Ark nor the cross is a magical emblem. Our prayers to God are only effective if they come out of a heart that truly desires to know Him. Before we ask God for anything, we need to check our motives and be sure that we’re seeking Him for His own sake!
Psalm 23 holds many often-overlooked truths about life with Christ. When God is at the center of our lives, we find that He is more than enough. He refreshes and restores us. We have the freedom to put our full faith in Him, instead of trusting in our own abilities.
In 1 Samuel 17, we find the familiar story of David and Goliath. It’s interesting to note that David didn’t go into battle with a victim mentality, even though he was clearly outmatched; he went with his reward in mind. We learn that our own inability to do things on our own is the very reason God chooses us— so that He gets the glory out of it!
In this second portion of the episode, we’ll talk about how investing in yourself includes discipline. Managing what you have, and stewarding what God has given you, is part of how we express love to God and invest in our own destiny.
The two greatest commandments given by Jesus in Matthew 22 teach us an important lesson: if your relationship with yourself isn’t right, you won’t have right relationships with others. God must be our first priority, but it’s not selfish to take care of yourself— it’s wise!
Even when the people of Israel did David wrongly, his heart was still for them. He approached God in faith, asking for what he knew was already in God’s will. When we confidently approach God and ask for what He’s already promised us, we can trust that we have it!
When Jesus encounters a group of lepers, they pronounce Him “Lord.” To test their faith, He gives them a command. Upon being healed, only one leper returns to thank God. If we live out loud before we’re made clean by God, why is it that we so often struggle to live out loud FOR Him after we’re made clean?
In John 9, Jesus encounters a beggar who had been overlooked by everyone else. Even the disciples ask whose sin caused this man’s infirmity. However, Jesus points out to them that their focus is all wrong. Just as God made man, Jesus came to remake man. Salvation isn’t just a bandaid; it’s a full transformation that every single one of us needs!
In Hebrews 11, we get a glimpse at the often-called “Faith Hall of Fame.” These people loved and trusted in God, even when His ways didn’t make sense. They diligently sought Him, and He did mighty works in and through them!
When God’s ways don’t make sense, we don’t need answers most; we need endurance. Endurance is doing what you thought you couldn’t do— because you draw strength from God! Trust that He will make all things right, and surrender your cares and concerns into His capable hands so that He can give you the endurance to keep going!
From the Acts 1 church, we learn much about the importance of intentional prayer. These disciples knew how to pray, and when they got together, the Holy Spirit moved in powerful ways. We need to know how to pray effectively before crisis hits, so that we can act effectively when it arrives.
In this episode, we’ll talk about the difference between anxious prayer and praying with the confidence that God hears you. There’s nothing wrong with going before God with our needs— in fact, He wants us to do just that! When our requests are aligned with His will, we can ask for anything and believe that we’ve already received it.
We can’t expect not to encounter hardships in this life. Many of us know we’re going to heaven, but we don’t know the victory we have in Christ for THIS life. Putting on the armor of God and staying in connection with Him is essential to walking in victory!

Instead of staying humble, Hezekiah got out of touch with God and impressed foreign leaders by showing off his wealth. From his story, we learn the importance of both perspective and caution.

David didn't just show up with confidence–– he had a track record. God had been working in his life, and now he had a confidence that carried into his confrontation with Goliath. May we walk with the same confidence––not in ourselves, but in our God!
David’s bravery in the face of Goliath teaches us that our number one calling is to bring glory to God. David trusted God’s hand in his life, and didn’t let any other voices discourage him from walking in boldness.
Healing comes in different forms. God’s plan to heal us may not look like we expected it to…but we have to keep trusting that He will take better care of us than we will!
God has provided everything we need to live a godly life, including healing! First, we have to call upon Him, and know that He wants us to get better!

Zacchaeus’s story teaches us that, if we want to take hold of all God has for us, we have to adopt a new perspective— we have to be positioned to encounter God in a new way.

Luke 8 tells the story of Jesus healing a man possessed with many demons. From this story, we learn that Jesus allows us to have authority in the spiritual realm. We have the power to say no to fear, and to walk in victory, because of his life, death, and resurrection!
In this episode, we see from the story of the disciples in the storm that just because opposition exists in your life doesn't mean you're outside of God's will. We only need to know that God is with us in the storm–– we can deal with any other difficulty as long as we have him!

In Genesis 22, we see that God tested Abraham's heart to see what his top priority was. God shouldn't have to compete with anything for the #1 spot in our lives! Abraham passed the test because he was willing to give God even his only son, trusting the heart of his Heavenly Father.
Jesus's story of the rich man and the beggar is a poignant one. It explains the importance of living not only for today, but for eternity. How will our earthly lives determine our eternity? What will our eternal destination be?
Knowing God, just like knowing others, requires that we look beyond the exterior appearance, and see God and others from the inside out. The things of the spirit are more revealing than the things of the flesh.
In this continuation of the episode, we'll keep examining David's prayerful response to his own conviction. David makes it clear that we are born in sin, and that we desperately need God's forgiveness in order to be reconciled to him.
When David was called out on his sin with Bathsheba, he didn't try to excuse it or hide it. He admitted it, and asked for God's forgiveness. This is a wonderful example of how to handle our own sins when confronted with them.
Jesus was clear about his identity during his lifetime. When people call him "just a good teacher," they're actually patronizing him. He made it clear he was much more than that!
The early church was startled awake when James was executed. They realized they needed to wake up and pray fervently for their leadership. From this story, we learn that our success only makes our enemies play harder. The storms of life are meant to prepare us for the greater purposes God has in store.
In Acts 9, we find the story of a good, Christian woman named Tabitha. Despite her righteous living, we see that she suffered death. Her story, and Paul's journey in bringing her back to life, show us the importance of seizing opportunities during the right season.
In this second portion of the message, we continue examining the truth that the only opinion that truly matters in life is God's. Peter didn't just walk on the water–– he walked on the Word of God! Why? Because he had more faith in Jesus than he did in himself or in the storm around him.
The story of Peter walking on the water shows us that we can only overcome the challenges of life by putting Christ at the center of our focus. Know who He is, know who you are, and don't let distractions shake your faith.

In this episode, we look at the story of a woman who needed something from the Lord and passionately went after His servant. We have to have a fire for God, and pursue an intimate, personal relationship with Him. Without His anointing, we won’t truly be free on the inside.
In Acts 12, we see that the early church is under persecution. James has just been martyred, and Peter is next up. Because of the church’s ardent, consistent prayers, God delivers Peter and miraculously sets him free. We have to learn to pray in faith that God will take care of us!

In Acts 10, we find the story of Cornelius, a man of influence who is visited by an angel. He acts faithfully, in obedience to what God tells him. When God speaks to us, we too have a responsibility to act in obedience.
Matthew 1 introduces us to the beginning of Jesus’s life on earth. By exploring the names given to Jesus in this chapter, as well as the prophecies in the Old Testament referenced here, we can gain new insight into Christ’s role and God’s character.
