The biggest problem in sales is … not knowing what the problem is. That’s why Host Dan Giordano’s guest on this episode of The All-In Podcast is taking us a layer deeper to understand that closing deals correlates with understanding human behavior. If you want to see sales soar, you’ve got to get past resistance, says Jeremy Miner, who built his highly successful career on a science-based understanding of what drives prospects. As founder of 7th Level, he is now helping others learn to manifest sales – rather than shut them down by unconsciously triggering negative responses from prospective buyers right out of the gate. Jeremy’s NEPQ (Neuro-Emotional Persuasion Questioning) framework is all about leveraging universal principles for attracting – rather than driving towards – outcomes. It all starts with identifying behaviors that communicate self-serving quotas and neediness, then changing the message. As you’ll learn on this episode, genuine curiosity, understanding customer pain points and making human connections are what’s key to cementing long-term sales relationships (and closing deals). You’ll come away from this high-level conversation with a new sales model based in neutralizing resistance. Imagine a world in which your prospects have let down their walls

If you’re interested in hearing much more from Jeremy, you can check out his podcast – Closers are Losers – at this link. You can also ask for a free taste of NEPQ 101 Minicourse by visiting his Facebook group here.

Whatever else is going on – pandemic, job loss, grief or dislocation – there’s no escaping that looming April 15th deadline. This episode of The All-In Podcast tackles tax season head-on with Ben Golden, an enrolled agent and pro who specializes in navigating tricky situations involving the IRS. He’s here to say that many good people wind up ensnared in tax liability for all kinds of reasons, which is why his firm, located in several states, is focused on both developing strategies to resolve outstanding tax problems and creating plans to avert trouble in the future. The goal is simply to pay the amount you owe; not a penny more or less.

This episode features helpful tips on what to do if you’re the unlucky recipient of a letter from the IRS (don’t hide from it!) and the two key questions you’ll need to answer quickly. Most importantly, Ben provides some helpful ground rules to protect you from landing on the IRS radar, which generally only ensnares about 7% of taxpayers annually. So fear not! There are tax professionals out there to keep you on track. Even if you’re feeling lost in the weeds, it’s always better (and less costly) to face whatever reality sooner than later.

You can’t see what you can’t see, which is why coaching and the outside perspective it brings can be so powerful. On this episode of The All-In Podcast the focus draws inward with Daniel’s guest, Shahid Durrani, sharing some of the wisdom he has drawn not only from a series of business ventures with varying degrees of success but also in uncovering stillness within.

There are some things, says Shahid, that conventional education cannot teach. For starters, the ability to connect, collaborate and cultivate meaningful, sustained relationships requires intangibles not found in any textbook. Nor do we learn in a classroom the mental shifts necessary to accept deeply who we are or how to sit comfortably with that knowing. Learn what skilled coaching can do for your self-awareness and empowerment – and why it’s important to get started not tomorrow, but today!

If you’ve become the bottleneck holding your business venture back, this episode of The All-In Podcast is for you. Simon Severino, founder of Strategy Sprints, shares the coaching methodology he deploys to help entrepreneurs free up time and avoid common mistakes – especially in seasons of growth. He highlights some of the predictable stumbling blocks and explains how Strategy Sprints tools address challenges like employee burnout, customer service overwhelm, stalled onboarding or erratic sales and inventory flow.

Simon understands the value of time and just what a rare commodity it is for entrepreneurs trying to create some separation from their businesses. It’s a critical goal, says Simon, because visionaries can’t do their best work if they’re mired IN the business rather than working ON the business. There are ways to create space while continuing on a trajectory of growth, but of course not without certain compensations. That’s where Simon’s team comes in, along with his helpful compendium: "Strategy Sprints: 12 Ways to Accelerate Growth for an Agile Business."

Dr. Douglas Brackmann wants to help you figure out whether you’re a member of his tribe: The Driven. In this turbocharged All-In Podcast conversation, Doug defines the neurological as well as sociological and temperamental differences between “hunters” and “farmers.” Commonly seen in entrepreneurs, pro-athletes, inventors, adventurers and Navy SEALs, research has shown that certain genes can manifest resilient, highly focused people who also tend to be impulsive and easily distracted. While these traits enabled our ancient ancestors to survive, in today’s climate they can create havoc. But what the world tells you is a disorder like ADD or OCD may in fact be your biggest gift.

As an author and entrepreneur, Doug has put his dual psychology doctorates to work by developing content, tools and a community of support for the Driven. He wants those of us who are wired for hunger, curiosity and a desire to see what’s over the next hill to understand why. Instead of self-sabotaging or suffering imposter syndrome, feeling out of sync or unrewarded, he wants his fellow “hunters” to learn how their brains work and why. He uses his psychological expertise to explain what it means to be driven, as well as practices to help you stay present and fully focused in the now. Driven, says Doug, is the difference between dreaming and doing. He’s sharing tools designed to recognize your most authentic identity, harness your gifts and banish counter-productive shame. He provides a template for the difference between “farmers” and “hunters” as well as some of the traits that define the latter:

  • High tolerance for risk.
  • Ability to think about multiple concepts simultaneously.
  • High quotient for resilience and hard-charging.
  • Eyes constantly on the horizon.

Sound like any driven entrepreneurs you might know?

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Dan welcomes an Australian upstart whose entrepreneurial journey started with – and continues to flourish under – a simple question: Will you regret this decision when you’re 65? So far, Reed Goossens’ strategy has worked. He has compiled a great track record, working and traveling across multiple countries, meeting his future American wife and acquiring the skills necessary to launch what today is a successful real estate development career. He is also the author of "Investing in the U.S.: The Ultimate Guide to U.S. Real Estate" and "Investing in the U.S."

The conversation also touches on something that Reed has come to understand matters every bit as much as tirelessly and enthusiastically pursuing your entrepreneurial North Star: Balance. The illness and death of his mother several years ago offered Reed an opportunity to step back and recognize that no amount of professional success will replace quality of life and meaningful connections. He shares thoughts on the “pillars” he believes are key (among them health, relationships and community).

The episode wraps up with some great practical advice for anyone starting their entrepreneurial adventure. Steps that Reed recommends right out of the gate include:

  • 1 Define your North Star.

  • 2 Be curious enough that you have a drive or passion for it.

  • 3 If you don’t have the necessary skill set, get out there and start researching, learning and acquiring whatever necessary knowledge.

  • 4 Surround yourself with people who share your passion and can serve as inspiration and as mentors.

If you’re trading precious time for a paycheck, Kent Ritter’s story is one you might want to consider. Previously a successful management consultant bringing down a hefty paycheck, he came to a personal crossroads after the birth of his first daughter. Sitting on a tarmac, about to take off on a four-day business trip, he asked himself: “Is this the kind of dad you want to be?” The answer was a resounding “no” and a new chapter was born. He decided to take an entrepreneurial risk by starting his own real estate investment firm. Everyone thought he was crazy, but he nonetheless ploughed forward, doing his homework and eradicating self-limiting beliefs (which can be a challenge).

Today Kent’s multi-family real estate investment concern is growing exponentially and his quality of life is where he wants it: Within his control. Moving the focus to practical advice for those interested in undertaking a similar journey, Daniel asks Kent about how he took his first steps, the foundation he built, lessons learned and the big vision ahead. It’s a conversation that doubles as a call to action: Don’t delay. “If you’re sitting on the fence, waiting for some moment or sign that’s going to tell you to get started, this is it,” says Kent. “That’s the sign! Get started!”

This episode of The All-In Podcast features an entrepreneur recognized nationally in the mold remediation space – but the conversation turns down a path that is about much more than business prowess. Dan welcomes Jason Earle, the founder and CEO of GotMold?, whose career and life journey has encompassed life lessons from which he’s drawn wisdom and perspective applicable across the board.

Raised on a non-working farm outside Princeton, NJ, health challenges early in life led to Jason dropping out of high school. He lost his mother to suicide early in life and wrestled by the age of 13 with what would later become full-blown alcoholism. Not a very promising start, but at every turn Jason stayed open, curious and showed up. That attitude brought him to an early opportunity that proved highly lucrative on Wall Street and ultimately to the idea that was the basis for 1-800-GOTMOLD?, a mold detection and remediation company that features affordable home test kits. Along the way he humbled himself in the face of a substance abuse problem that – now four years sober – he is grateful to have suffered. No entrepreneurial journey is without its dark spaces and shadows. Guests like Jason are what make the All-In podcast a community and empathetic resource for whatever challenge we’re facing along our career – and life – path.

Jason’s team has put together a special landing page for All-In listeners with a 10% discount code and access to an e-book that provides an overview on mold that can be found here.

This episode of The All-In Podcast features a successful businessman whose second career transcends commerce. It has been 12 years since Dr. Bruce Hartman stepped away from hard-charging executive roles at Fortune 500 companies in order to pursue advanced degrees in divinity and help others “walk towards a brighter future.” The author of four Christian books, a regular host of morning prayers and guest on popular podcasts, Bruce’s life is full of purpose today; not something he could have said with much conviction at the height of his corporate career. With his belief that “Jesus is Good for Business,” he offers a Biblical worldview that resonates on many levels with people of faith (or in search of faith) within the business community.

Daniel invites his guest to share the journey he has taken – including a moving moment of epiphany late one night when Bruce felt called quite literally into the light. This conversation highlights red flags that Type A entrepreneurs preoccupied with driving career development might want to consider. And Bruce offers some foundational advice for bringing mindfulness through openness, prayer and patience. Coming at such a busy time of year, this episode of All-In serves as a thoughtful reminder that no professional accomplishment or business achievement can take the place of life purpose and connection. With his life now centered on pro bono mentoring and sharing his message of faith, Bruce’s example challenges us to consider what truly defines success. For him, he concluded: “Instead of helping myself all the time, I completely changed my world and decided my mission in life is to help other people.”

More information about Bruce’s four current as well as forthcoming books can be found here.

For ambitious strivers it may sound counterintuitive, but Daniel’s guest on this episode of The All-In Podcast explains why slowing down is critical to speeding things up. Ken Kladouris, Partner & President of Platinum Wealth Group, shares his journey from hard-driving real estate investor to master of stillness. A seasoned wealth advisor and author of "Get There! Chart Your Course to Abundance and Live the Life You Desire," Ken has developed a tailor-made approach to cultivating financial abundance. The cornerstone? A stillness practice. Far from the stock image of an isolated monk, Ken brings a fresh perspective to the ancient art of meditation. In silence he has found transformational power that he’s excited to share with others who aspire to wealth in the fullest sense of the word.

By becoming aligned with his “why” Ken has recognized his true purpose: Coaching others to connect with themselves and find personal power through a quieting of the mind. He recounts the story of his thunderbolt moment and how his practice evolved from that burst of clarity. He tells Daniel about his personal experience as well commitment to helping others establish similarly life-changing practices at silent retreats he plans to host in the coming years. This episode offers some tips for moving toward self-mastery through deeply intentional inner reflection. It’s all a journey – one that Ken would never have predicted for himself as a young, ambitious real estate investor. But the gifts Ken has found in stillness are as evident as the inspiring vision he’s eager to share!

Getting motivated around diet and exercise can be a challenge, but this episode of the All-In podcast introduces a wellness coach and author whose energy is an irresistible motivator. Dan welcomes Gav Gillibrand, a nutritionist and physical trainer whose methods have equipped thousands of followers with the strategy and practical tools to tackle unwanted pounds – and vanquish them once and for all. Gav, who has written a book on the subject, believes that any fitness program is doomed when it’s overly restrictive. So the trick is creating sustainability through a simple understanding of calories in, calories out – and how to manage accordingly.

You’ll enjoy hearing about Gav’s eclectic professional path, which included some major detours – a stint on a popular British reality dating show and nearly two decades of global touring as a male stripper. While performance and entertainment might seem unlikely as resume-builders, Gav actually learned life lessons that are essential to the people skills, compassion and practicality he brings to his busy, executive clients today.

When it comes to fitness and weight loss, the mechanical piece is of course straightforward. It’s the psychological aspect that consumes at least 70% of Gav’s coaching time. Unpacking and understanding our emotional relationship with food is the first order of business. Without that clarity (and accountability), says Gav, it’s impossible to disengage from reflexive habits that do not serve. Once those doors have been unlocked, however, we’re all capable of moving towards a lifetime plan that leaves us satisfied, fueled, inspired and ready to go!

In this episode of All-In, host Daniel Giordano welcomes Jake Clopton, an entrepreneur who has found (or carved out for himself) a niche within the commercial real estate lending industry. Was the path to founding Clopton Capital Lending a straight one? As is usually the case with any successful startup enterprise, it was not quite that simple. There were stepping stones, challenges, surprises and a learning curve along the way.

A native of upstate New York now established in Chicago, where he is raising a family, Jake shares a combination of elements that have shaped his business story. The most important facet perhaps has been his ability to focus keenly and do his homework. Rather than scattering his attention among different disciplines and activities, Jake adheres to a philosophy of running one race at a time. Clearly that strategy has worked for him, since his firm is going strong after well more than a decade in business.

Jake works with CRE owners throughout the U.S. to provide finance solutions for commercial mortgages, bridge loans, home builder financing, construction, and joint venture equity. The market might be cyclical but its evolution is constant. Jake enjoys watching how various commercial properties reconfigure and reinvent themselves for future market opportunities.

Enjoy this fast-paced exchange between two entrepreneurs who have built their lives around having independence, choice and opportunity. Even if sometimes accompanied by risk, Jake says founding Clopton Capital afforded him the alternative he needed to traditional corporate structures that were never going to be the right fit. He leaves us with some advice from the trenches and wisdom about the importance of adhering to healthy, energy-enhancing daily rituals.

On this episode of All-In, Host Daniel Giordano chats with Brian Basilico, known to many as “The Bacon Guy.” The focus is on all things marketing – including the sea change that has gone on as a result of the advent of the internet. The conversation starts out with some background on Brian’s upbringing and early entrepreneurial passion for music, which turned out to reveal a powerful draw to advising people about branding and other facets of business growth.

For anyone who wonders, Brian shares a quirky backstory as to how he became “The Bacon Guy” and what the acronym means (Building Authentic Connections Online Networking). How marketers make those all-important connections has changed drastically with the explosion of social media and other web-based communications tools, but in terms of content Brian says many of the tenets remain the same. It turns out that the delivery of messages can take different forms, while effective, high-quality marketing collateral remains the same across all mediums.

Brian shares thoughts on where he is with his career, his big-picture goals (which involve more than measuring success strictly with dollar values) and a few tricks to avert pitfalls he’s stumbled into over his many years as an entrepreneur in the marketing and coaching space.

There is a lot to dig into and learn about the website optimization, online metrics and compelling content that form the core of Brian’s business – and tremendous success over four decades of helping clients create stronger sales relationships and ultimate outcomes.

Entrepreneurial success requires more than keen business skills and strategy. This episode of All-In explores another essential component: Mindset. With his guest Nina Cooke, a coach who specializes in uncovering self-limiting beliefs, Dan explores the intersection between what we tell ourselves and what we’re able to achieve as a result. When the inner monologue is full of self-doubt, feelings of unworthiness or fear of rejection, we are inevitably going to wind up holding ourselves back.

Negative self-talk is unquestionably damaging, but many of us aren’t even aware of it. Nina’s practice is built around helping high-level executives, many of whom have already had business coaching, access another core element of growth and long-term achievement: Conscious and unconscious thoughts. Once brought to the surface, Nina helps people examine the roots of their inner monologue and consider alternative mindsets.

Drawn from her own early upbringing in England (and some of the patterns she developed that did not serve), as well as the journey she took to becoming a self-confident coach, Nina explains why she went “All-in” with this particular specialty and how intentionality changes not only careers but lives.

This episode of All-In features a woman who clearly has found her perfect professional match. Tara Patten is an image coach and virtual stylist whose lively personality and passion for helping people uncover their best selves is nothing short of inspiring. Daniel hosts a conversation that is both energizing and informative.

While Tara is full of passion for her business and mission today, the road to get there was anything but a straight one. Born in England, raised and educated in Florida and Maryland, she was in search of a calling. That search took her to California and ultimately aboard cruise ships in the Caribbean, where she loved being a “shopping ambassador.” It was her first hint of where things ultimately would go. But, as is so often the case, there were a few storm clouds before blue sky broke through.

At one period, when the way forward seemed particularly murky, Tara realized there was only one thing to do – something she recommends we all consider when the chips are down: Ask for help. She got invaluable coaching and before long had conceived of the branding and styling niche she occupies so successfully today. Learn about the services she provides and the results she witnesses when her clients decide to focus on – and commit to – doing some personal work. This episode is like several seminars in one podcast. Tara is excited about showing up in the world and helping people put forth their very best selves – and the feeling it’s infectious!

On this episode of the All-In Podcast, Daniel talks to Lance Krek, an entrepreneur involved on the retail side of the cannabis industry.

Lance sees the benefits of cannabis, especially for medicinal purposes. His passion for the industry enabled him to successfully transition from military life to the business realm. From boots to business and no prior formal business training, Lance initially faced adversity as an entrepreneur, yet he was determined to strive for excellence in the cannabis industry.

Lance also expresses a couple advantages of his position within the industry. First, the retail side has given him a great perspective of how the process functions from the endpoint. And second, he wants to educate the public about cannabis and how it can be used safely and responsibly.

Though a noticeable stigma still lingers within the cannabis industry, Lance hopes that the product will be treated more like alcohol – not in the sense that it can be abused, yet in the sense that it should be easily accessible, regulated efficiently, and taxed fairly.

On this episode of the All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Steven Lewis of Taleist copywriting. Steven’s career began in web development, during which time he found himself ahead of the curve, constantly explaining to people what a website was. Afterward, he turned to writing and has been working with copywriting which, he notes, doesn’t change and will never change.

Steven says that he prefers not to gravitate toward a niche because he likes the excitement of a variety but also because it’s advantageous to bring things from one area into another. His specialization is simply making copywriting work online. The difference between content writing and copywriting is that copywriters not only need to entertain and inform (like copy writers) but they also have to get the reader to do something. This is the hard part.

When asked about a challenge in copywriting, Steven notes that an ongoing setback in copywriting is education and getting clients to understand why copywriting is a bigger investment than a couple hundred bucks. The traffic that comes to their website has to read something that converts into an action step.

At the end, Steven emphasizes the research that good copywriting involves. It is much more than writing good sentences and there is a lot of work that goes on before a single word is typed. Understanding the client’s business backward and forward is essential and letting them in on your process is also a key to success.

On this episode of the All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Christina Hills, formerly the Shopping Cart Queen and now an entrepreneur passionate about empowering people to move their businesses forward.

Christina shares her background and how she came from a demanding career in the film and television industry to being a work-from-home mom helping clients to create websites and online courses to move their business forward. She and Daniel discuss what it’s like to be entrepreneurial parents with the desire to spend more time at home with kids.

As Christina built her own business, she notes that one of the biggest challenges was figuring out what was a good opportunity and what was not a good opportunity. She says that there is tons of business to be had, you simply have to discern which opportunities are right for you and which ones you need to let go.

One of the big takeaways for listeners considering exiting their career or launching something new is the Saturday Morning Test, which Christina explains in this episode. Does what you want to launch get you excited enough to get out of bed on a Saturday morning? She reminds listeners that you don’t have to be an expert, you just have to really like the market you’re in and turn to the expertise you need.

At the end, Christina and Daniel talk about the spiritual aspect of business, what sort of people her business tends to attract, trusting your gut, and letting the right clients find their way to you.

The discussion primarily focuses on her journey through the marketing sector, setbacks she encountered, and current and potential opportunities for her to make a difference in helping others.

As supportive parents, both Daniel and Christina agree that finding a balance between work and family is essential – Christina always considers a job that is not only ideal for her, but also one that will be equally beneficial for her family life.

One main topic that is discussed is Christina’s passion for diversity and inclusion. She reiterates a phrase ‘slow down to speed up’ – people often do not take the time to hear a differing perspective and they jump to conclusions. This has helped her be more respectful, and she ultimately wants to use her platform to give others an opportunity to be heard.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Steve Coombes, a speaker, writer and mentor known as the ‘Solopreneur’ Success Coach.

Growing up, Steve’s parents taught him the value of hard work. It was this entrepreneurial mindset that left him dissatisfied with his corporate job and itching for something more. After a number of businesses failed, he received the opportunity to become a copywriter. It was unexpected, but enjoyable, and Steve began to write on the side as he continued his regular job.

Nothing changed. Steve explains that he was ‘reading the promotional emails and dreaming big, but not taking the action to make it happen.’ He still hadn’t gone all-in. When he was presented with a chance to write full-time, Steve knew that he couldn’t pass it up. The timing would prove to be important.

Eighteen months later, Steve was laid off from his IT position. It was no longer a ‘maybe this could work.’ It had to work. Gradually, it did and Steve built a six-figure business. Then, his mother-in-law went to the hospital and a week-long trip turned into six months.

For Steve, that highlighted exactly why he wanted to become an entrepreneur. The flexibility that his job provided gave him the opportunity to be with his family during a difficult time. Steve decided that he wanted to help as many people as possible find this freedom.

As a business owner, it is easy to get overwhelmed and lose sight of what you’re doing, or why you’re doing it. It took a heartbreaking comment from Steve’s son for him to realize exactly what this meant. By planning in ‘sprint periods,’ compressing time and prioritizing rest, an entrepreneur can break the cycle of guilt that they sometimes feel.

Steve credits his success to three main things – his reason ‘why,’ a strong vehicle and putting in the work. He encourages others to find what fulfills them and make a difference in the world.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Mark Struczewski, a productivity expert who works with entrepreneurs to overcome distractions in order to avoid being overwhelmed.

When Mark was fired, he was angry and unsure of what to do next. It was 2005. Social media was on the upswing and entrepreneurship was still coming into its own. With little experience, Mark decided to start a wedding photography business. The venture failed, but Mark learned something valuable about himself – he loved public speaking. Not only that, but speaking could be used to promote a business.

This was a pivotal moment in Mark’s life. He thought that entrepreneurship was just about hiring coaches and taking courses. Now, he had something to call his own. Mark created an email list. In time, an empire was born.

One of the ways that entrepreneurs go wrong is they spread themselves too thin, losing focus and moving on to the newest platform. Instead of sticking to a blue ocean where the market is open, they flock to a red one and become one of many voices. Clients should never be directed to a social media page. Instead, they should be sent to YOU where the messaging is something you control.

It took Mark a while to learn this lesson. Had he not lost focus, he believes that his email list would be even larger. Mark also had to learn to let go. When he ‘came to his senses’ and allowed his wife to help behind the scenes, it freed him up to be a better content creator.

Success doesn’t mean that you plan every moment of your life. Becoming ‘Mister Productivity’ meant that Mark made the decision to remove distractions and take care of himself physically and mentally.

He encourages others to quit wasting time. Read instead, and learn as much as you can about the world. A better read person asks better questions, and better questions lead to better results.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Geoff Nicholson, a performance and mindset coach who overcame a significant health struggle to become a successful entrepreneur.

At age 16, Geoff left school to join the workforce. After bouncing around, he found himself at his future father-in-law’s printing company. It was there he began to see success, as well as an increasing confidence in himself. But things came crashing down.

An untimely illness left him wheelchair-bound and sleeping 20 hours a day. As a young father, he couldn’t imagine becoming a burden to his wife and son. Geoff left the house with the intention to commit suicide. Then, something changed.

It all began with a question – how could he get his life back to the way it was? Geoff realized that he didn’t want that. He wanted it to be better. That’s why he committed to improving himself and helping others. To change, Geoff began to define his life with four unique qualities- fun, freedom, flexibility and service. Like Bob Parr in The Incredibles, he made the decision to reject mediocrity. Support others in a proactive way. Reject limitations and plan for the success he wanted to see.

Geoff refers to the four main parts of this plan as the ‘HITS.’ The first, health, is essential to any type of life. If your body and mind are not right, it is almost impossible to accomplish what you set out to do. The second, income, is a reality of business. Factors such as debt and savings must always be considered. The third, tribe, is also important. These are the people who are not just associates, but cheerleaders. They are constant companions and supporters of what you do.

Finally, self, is crucial to the way you interact with your business and those around you. While self-development is a lifelong pursuit, Geoff believes that this, perhaps more than anything, matters.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Jason Van Orden, a serial entrepreneur, podcast pioneer and consultant who seeks to help thought leaders monetize their ‘intellectual equity’ by expanding their audience and creating new revenue streams.

Jason’s entry into entrepreneurship was surprisingly organic. He never had a lemonade stand, or grew up planning to work for himself. It just happened. While his first job out of college seemed like a dream come true, he found that a corporate job is just that. He quit with nothing in mind.

Due to his interest in investing, real estate seemed like a natural step. Jason quickly got involved with his local association and began to use his marketing skills to help colleagues find more buyers. As interest increased in his services, Jason decided to offer a class. He recorded it for future use.

Jason researched other forms of promotion and stumbled upon podcasting. With a background in engineering, as well as a desire to teach, it seemed like the perfect fit. Jason dove in headfirst and created a business podcast which quickly grew into a full-fledged coaching practice, then a digital course. Looking back, Jason can see these events as breadcrumbs to where he is now. To succeed, he had to embrace each challenge and have confidence in himself.

One of the things Jason learned is that an entrepreneur must figure out what audience they want to serve. Once they know that, they can figure out what’s top of mind for their audience, and find a way to solve their problem. This can only be done through honest conversation.

Productivity comes in many forms. Activities like meditation and journaling can help you ‘step back’ from your work and see it in a new light. As he looks to the future, Jason plans to keep these practices in mind and create the ‘Spotify of ideas’ to help people find others who can solve their problems.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Dr. Kimberley Linert, a behavioral optometrist and host of the Incredible Life Creator Podcast. As a child, Dr. Linert had an aunt who was a doctor. This provided an inspiration for a career in optometry – the best fit for someone who wasn’t a fan of blood.

During her pediatric therapy rotation, Dr. Linert worked with a 9-year old boy who was doing poorly in school. After implementing a series of vision-brain exercises, she discovered that the problem stemmed from the child’s inability to read and the pushback he received from his classmates. As he progressed, the child began to smile and enjoy their sessions together. It helped Dr. Linert see the power of therapy, as well as the importance of what she did.

Then an untimely divorce and a family emergency led Dr. Linert to reevaluate her career. She realized that she was working too much and needed to adjust her priorities. In response, Dr. Linert rearranged her schedule and left more time for rest and family. That enabled her to better serve herself and her clients.

Dr. Linert’s purpose never changed, but the practical application of her passion did. For many, life does not have a simple trajectory. There will always be challenges. It’s what you do with those obstacles that show who you are.

As someone who has dedicated her life to ‘vision,’ Dr. Linert encourages everyone to ‘see’ their problems from a different perspective. What are the choices? Which direction is the most beneficial to pursue? Feelings will always change, but it’s important to say focused on what matters. Dr. Linert describes this process as being a ‘fish out of water.’

Unfortunately, stress can derail the most well-intentioned pursuit. By staying in tune with your peripheral and central vision, you can return to a relaxed state and become who you were meant to be.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Daniel speaks with Melanie Galioto, a digital marketing consultant and creator of the ‘Slacker Success Formula.’ After a brief career in sales, Melanie quickly realized that she wanted something more. As she began to experiment with automation, she discovered that she loved the entire process. Unexpectedly, a new career was born.

One of the ways that Melanie helps a business is to get the owner to step back and focus on their expertise. Business owners don’t have the time to fix broken links and deal with an ever-changing platform. In a vigorous cycle of planting seeds, prospecting and pushing forward, digital marketing makes sure a sales pipeline never runs dry.

Lead generation is key. When the pandemic hit, the business model for many industries changed overnight. Some companies got better. Others grew paralyzed and failed. A competent e-commerce platform is essential to survival. Model what works. Follow the social proof and work hard. Everyone is in this together, and a strategic partnership is a win for everyone involved.

The biggest challenge is finding the right people. An employee’s goals must be similar to that of the employer’s. The goal should also be clear. Once it’s set, all of the focus needs to be in that direction.

Melanie warns against ‘shiny object syndrome.’ When solving a problem, it’s easy to see another problem and then lose track of your original purpose. Hire an expert, if necessary, and get as much information as you can about the field you are entering. It’s not always enough to just work hard. Work smarter and embrace the ‘slacker’ lifestyle.

In this episode of The All-In Podcast, Sharyn Fitzpatrick shares both insights she’s gained, and challenges she’s faced, throughout her career in marketing communications and virtual event technology. Desiring to spend more time at home with her family, and focus more on projects that she really believed in, Sharyn started her own business in 2000 doing independent marketing communications, and building programs for leads generation, for a variety of clients. She now has a large focus on webinar development and how to transform clients’ virtual events/webinar programs into memorable events.

One of the biggest lessons that Sharyn has learned through running her own business is that it can often be easier to focus on helping your clients and doing things that will benefit them, rather than remembering to turn that focus around onto your own ventures and doing things that will benefit you personally as well. She stresses the importance of marketing and promoting yourself, and taking the steps required to grow yourself into success, in addition to doing those things for your company or your clients at work.

Daniel and Sharyn also discuss some of the challenges that many people are facing in today’s pandemic world, and how the technical advancements of the last 10 years have made it possible to still stay connected and keep a business running successfully even through these dark times. They both agree on the importance of staying connected with other people, either on an individual level with family/friends, or by being involved in groups or organizations of like-minded people, in order to stay motivated and energized.

In this episode of the All In podcast, Joan Michelson shares wisdom that she’s gained throughout her long and varied career, which has gone back and forth between corporate communications and journalism for the most part, but has been focused in the “green” economy (energy, sustainability, climate, corporate responsibility) for the last 15 years. Joan currently works mostly on career coaching about transitions; both transitions within a career, as well as helping clients with transitioning out of the workforce and into starting their own business. She also does book coaching, helping clients get started with writing books about their areas of expertise.

In her current career coaching endeavours, Joan focuses mainly on mid-career women, particularly in STEM fields (and especially women who are also in the energy/climate/sustainability sector.) Joan is striving to make an impact in the business world by making more space for women to be successful - for example, at her position at Chrysler in the past, she actively worked to get female dealers featured and frequently ran campaigns about female drivers, as women car-buyers were often being ignored.

Joan shares her idea of a “career GPS” and how one can use this idea when planning out ideal career moves by looking broadly at where you want to go, but honoring the tangents that arise. Joan and Daniel discuss the dangers of making career moves based on assumptions; she advises listeners to assess the reasons behind the assumptions they are making and try to figure out why they are doing the things they believe they need to be doing, and not to let themselves get blinded to other possibilities.

For one thing, prior to stepping away from golf, his life had been on a narrowly successful trajectory. Floundering was something entirely new for him. Colin has not found his way as a young businessman without failing and failing again. Fortunately, with the help of some perspective from his dad, Colin understood that it was all time well invested – because a significant investment of time is the defining key to long-term success. Today the Canadian host of the “Daily Grind” podcast has a clearly articulated lifestyle vision that aligns equally with his entrepreneurial vision. Listen as Daniel elicits great advice and very specific steps for developing a foothold of the kind Colin has established, using his podcast with more than 3 million downloads as a vehicle to generate revenue and make a positive impact.

In this episode of All-In, Daniel exchanges lessons applicable to both business and life with Sam Moss, a young entrepreneur navigating his niche in the world of B2B website development and design. The conversation touches on a number of themes that share one thing in common: the value of clarity. Whether it’s defining the clients that best suit your business goals or fully embracing being a dad, Sam and Daniel agree that successful visions are all about two things: keeping it simple and keeping it clear. The 1ClickAgency that Sam founded in upstate New York with his dad has taken a path that will be familiar to entrepreneurs from all industries. It involved a process of figuring out the rapport with small businesses versus a B2B orientation, learning how to discuss money head-on with clients and resisting the fear of losing clients by choosing to narrow the focus. Defining a niche is not self-limiting, says Sam. It’s liberating!

In this episode of All-In, Daniel focuses the conversation on creating abundance of the kind that drives Wally Carmichael both personally and professionally. As host of both the Men of Abundance and Business Owner Growth podcasts, Wally focuses on the intersection between building success and living successfully. Taking a business venture to that next level of success is every aspiring entrepreneur’s dream, but all-too-many of us get in our own way. In this episode of All-In, Daniel invites Optimal VA Solutions founder and brand whisperer Erin Boerema to explain how she went from clutching her business’s reigns like an “I-can-do-it myself” two-year-old to welcoming support for her burgeoning company. Also host of the “Making Sense of Entrepreneurship” podcast, Erin has built an entire digital marketing practice around a toolkit for establishing and enhancing brands of all kinds. She started from the ground up, learning about systems and processes, professional and business development on her own and gradually incorporating the wisdom of mentors. When it comes to evolving startups to another stage of maturity, Erin explains, the smart money is on retaining a coach to help light the way. Entrepreneurial efforts can become so all-consuming that  valuable perspective is lost. In this episode of The All-In Podcast, serial entrepreneur Marc Kramer delivers a sampler platter of diverse startup experiences and insights. Daniel prompts details of the many hits and misses that make up Marc’s impressive portfolio, including more than 25 businesses, multiple books and a successful podcast The Best Business Minds. The one common mandate among all his ventures?

Get up, get going and don’t give up!

Marc takes Daniel on a tour of a host of businesses he has imagined, innovated, launched, grown, sold and in some instances wound down. There are no straight lines and no one gets out without some failure. The question is, says Marc, can you get up and keep on driving towards whatever goal? It’s helpful to remember that there were predecessors to Facebook (remember MySpace?) and Google (what ever happened to Excite and Alta Vista?). You never know when the timing for your particular vision will hit just right. Pets.com was one of the emblematic huge fails of the early dot.com era because it was just a bit ahead of its time. People didn’t understand the concept of ordering supplies online. Today? It would be a natural. So, Marc advises, keep the faith and keep on trying. Equip yourself with good research and a carefully considered plan.

Today Marc is not only growing a number of interesting startups (details of which he provides in the podcast), he is also a sought-after podcaster with a consulting company that takes entrepreneurs at all stages of maturation to the next level by providing guidance on everything from marketing and sales to innovation planning, loan acquisition and financial modeling. At heart also a philanthropist, what most inspires Marc’s boundless entrepreneurial drive is the desire to foster education and improved quality of life across society.

You can hear lots more about Marc’s experience and ideas via his podcast The Best Business Minds.

It’s not easy making the decision to abandon your status as a full-time employee with all the perks in order to pursue a the solopreneur venture of your dreams. But in this episode of The All-In Podcast Daniel invites his guest, podcast host and consultant David Shriner-Cahn, to share foundational steps you can take to make that leap a little easier. Their conversation not only illuminates questions to ask as you prepare to start up a business of your own, it also gives you practical considerations to factor into those first high-stakes months (sometime years) of transition.

Although he’s dedicated full-time to working with aspiring coaches and consultants, David’s professional experience started on a more traditional path. He went from college into the corporate world, assuming that hard work and talent would be repaid by promotions and security. While he received good reviews and feedback on his performance, he soon saw in 1980s downsizing the brutal truth that all employees were considered dispensable. He moved into the non-profit sector in search of work that felt like a better temperamental match and thrived, but a growing desire to run his own ship developed over time. David ultimately went out on his own, creating a very successful consulting business – learning a lot of valuable lessons along the way.

Daniel discusses with David some of the nuts and bolts of those lessons he has learned and incorporated in his successful podcast, Smashing the Plateau. They touch on a range of common challenges, from the unsettlingly risky element of going out on your own to the practical realities of timing, capital investment and networking.

And, of course, circumstances vary. David explains how his mentoring applies in different ways. Existing consultants and coaches may need to figure out how to increase revenue, reduce hours or alter their business model. Meanwhile brand new consultants and coaches with a long previous corporate history may need specific help making the initial pivot to a solo entrepreneurial venture. Either way, this conversation is full of real-world perspective and applicable tips for anyone running an independent business, including a list of emotions likely to emerge over the course of the transition:

  1. Loss of identity and the ego associated with being a salaried employee.
  2. Shame about a transitional stage that may look and feel like unemployment but in fact is just an inevitable part of going out on your own.
  3. Fear that things won’t go as hoped or that assets will quickly erode.
  4. Loss of the comfort that the perks of traditional employment can bring.
  5. Grief in saying goodbye to one thing before being fully adjusted to or immersed in your new venture.

It can be hard to measure success and keep the momentum going as a solopreneur. But through their podcasts and hard-won experience, Daniel and David offer the kind of support and advice that makes the journey easier at every step of the way.

In this episode of the “All-In” podcast, Daniel explores with his guest Peter Cimoroni the overlapping ways in which success, failure, kindness and integrity intersect when it comes to building an entrepreneurial venture. And, oh yes, there’s also wrestling. The CEO and Chairman of Razor Marketing has found throughout a varied career that the art of coaching sports (in his case wrestling) in many ways sets a framework that is applicable professionally and personally as well.

Peter, who grew up in Cleveland, has navigated all kinds of economic ups and downs since his earliest post-college jobs in the 1980s. His current work reflects lessons he took all along the way, as a salesman, inventor, start-up businessman and advisor to enterprises of all kinds. His work today is all about providing companies with a deep dive and triage to discover exactly what it is they want to accomplish – and who best to partner with towards that end. That means applying Razor’s methodology to determine next steps as they relate to a range of goals: topline growth, line item efficiency, even-to-odd growth, valuation growth, prep to acquire or be acquired.

Among the nine business Peter has personally grown, there have been disappointments. But nothing that could strictly be termed a failure because critical lessons have been learned in every instance. It’s all about “failing forward,” as Peter prefers to call it, and it can be transformational. For one thing, challenges can breed the kind of empathy and kindness that are the cornerstone to Peter’s business philosophy. He offers advice and some go-to habits that he believes best serve entrepreneurs by serving the best in those around them. Flowing positivity and kindness out into the world constitutes one of Peter’s best practices, both personally and professionally.

In his passion project, The Blood Time podcast, Peter speaks to the relationship between high school and collegiate coaches and their athletes and how they create positive, enduring lifetime impacts. He shares with Daniel insights into how and why.

Whether in the context of home or business, Peter urges people to export the same energy rooted in gratitude and thoughtfulness. Among the simple but profound tips he offers: Write a letter daily to encourage yourself, and then do the same for someone else who could use just a little encouragement or affirmation.

“We get so much callousness – especially in the business world – that the direct opposite is so refreshing. It enlightens and feeds your own spirit,” offer Peter, whose Razor Marketing has developed a methodology in which all boats rise together.

How do you define what you do? For today’s guest, Hernan Sias, the answer wasn’t always so simple. After years of gathering expertise and experience he realized the value in sharing knowledge and knowhow with others and thus discovered purpose. As one half of the widely successful Business Bros team, Hernan is many things but put simply, he is a salesman. One who meets people, identifies what needs they have and connects them with people who can help fill that need.

Hernan shares how the business began years ago and what steps he took to grow into the consultant, teacher, and salesperson he is today. His “all in” moment came through his own venture into the podcasting space. With his brother James, Hernan runs the Business Bros podcast to reach others with opportunity and expertise as well as a utilizing it as vehicle for reaching more clients, allowing the pair to see substantial growth.

Daniel gets in the weeds with Hernan to talk about how he harnesses the power of networking to grow his business while growing others. For Hernan, the key to success is being able to focus. Knowing how to define your vision clearly and stick to that purpose is what has enabled him to weather the constant challenge of being an entrepreneur and allowed him to take risks with less worry.

Hernan’s tenacity is infectious and his advice simple, yet poignant. Finding meaning looks different for each of us but there are common strategies that can be implemented no matter your pursuit. By focusing less on the dollars and more on the passion you can learn things along the way that will help you support a life worth living.

Would you prefer to rent or own the building? For today’s guest, Frank Agin, it’s no contest. Once he realized the potential in networking, he was “all in” with his vision to develop and franchise AmSpirit as an invaluable point of connection for entrepreneurs, sales reps and professionals nationwide. In this episode, Daniel does a deep dive to understand the power of AmSpirit, an innovative organization supporting the exchange of qualified referrals through 17 franchises in eight states – and counting!

Frank shares a bit about his early years and how he morphed from a freshly minted law school grad to employee at a Big Six accounting firm to starting up his own private practice in Ohio. An active community member and busy father of three nearly grown children, AmSpirit’s founder had his “all in” moment after realizing the power of networking and the potential to use his talents as a connector to build relationships among people from all walks of life: not just fellow attorneys, but also accountants, real estate agents, corporate coaches, financial advisers, web designers, travel agents and more. “These small business people are going to make it happen,” says Frank. “They are constantly finding ways to be relevant.” Frank’s unique and fully supported franchise model fosters community and business development – which has been more of a challenge than ever amidst pandemic uncertainty.

Frank and Daniel talk about the anxiety-provoking realities – as well as the unexpected silver linings – AmSpirit franchisees have found in the wake of Covid19. They focus on the importance of sharing resources and ideas and the role of ingenuity (who knew Zoom had so much to offer as a forum for networking and featured speakers?). They share their take on character traits to fall back on in times of stress and generous, positive “karma” as the greatest community service and business value-add around.

Frank has made bold choices and stayed the course with his entrepreneurial vision, through good times and … not as good. Refusing to be taken off-track by the latest investment fad or occasional self-doubt, AmSpirit thrives because the visionary behind it understands that building an actual long-term business asset requires steady faith and persistence.

Have you ever written down your goals and passions in life? What are some goals that you've written down but you didn't achieve? And also think about those goals that you have achieved.

"As a man thinketh, so is he". In your heart, what are you thinking right now? Are you thinking about your goal? Is there a goal that you would really love to do but... No buts. What it really comes down is to this: having a clear intention. If you've ever had a goal and haven't been able to achieve it. Could it be that possibly you haven't achieved the goal because you haven't committed to it?

If you really are passionate about sharing your story and impacting people's lives, what is it that's going to get you to move and take action to do that?

Do you have a vision? Most people don't have a vision. If you have a vision you are lightyears ahead of people.

The HOW is not nearly as important as the WHY is very important in goal setting. recognizing that, what can you do differently TODAY? You have to take ACTION on your dreams and goal, and why not do it NOW? you don't need to wait. you can choose to play today. go out and make it happen...

Howard has a unique knack for being able to coach people, and he’s on a daily basis impacting thousands of people worldwide.

Howard is originally from Lower Alabama and grew up in a family of 7 kids in quite a rundown old shack surviving on welfare. At 18 years he moved to Houston. After learning 2 important lessons from Michael Gerber - (1) You gotta have systems in your business and (2) you have to understand what your primary aim is he started to coach other business owners to use their own unique systems, and has continued to do so for 20 years.

To get into the coaching side of the business Howard started writing articles, talking at seminars and found that people just liked the systems that he had and what he had to say, and this led on to the successful career that he has today.

One of the greatest associations that Howard has is with Zig Ziglar and his family which first lead to him creating some video content for clients, and then led onto contributing a quote and a chapter to Zig’s final book, and eventually becoming the small business coach for Ziglar.

Susan has a passion for parenting and she has definitely answered her calling. She grew up mainly in the South and now lives in TX with her husband and 7 children, ages 6 to 19 years old. Lucky for her 1 boy that he is the oldest of the kids!

She was raised by parents that just celebrated their 51st anniversary, which in this society is pretty amazing, and it’s something she strives to emulate. In being intentional with her family, she was not only following her parents’ example, but answering her own calling. She knew from a very early time that the most important work of her own life was being a mother to her children. She has lived every day with a purpose directed toward who she needed to be and become in order to raise children in this busy, noisy, highly distracted world.

She’s always had the entrepreneurial spirit. When she was just 5 years old, she took a newspaper delivery ‘subcontracting’ job with her older siblings and she’s never lost that drive. So, when she met her husband, it was a perfect match, because he has the heart for entrepreneurship too.

Her husband did work corporate for a while, but retired 11 years ago and now they have a family business. Two of her teenagers are entrepreneurs, too. Her 15 year old daughter is a photographer and her 17 year old daughter is a graphic design artist. Talking about clients, leads, ad business are just part of their day and it fits in well with the homeschooling lifestyle of her family.

Today, Susan’s celebrating her 21st anniversary and she has a book, ‘Intentional Parenting’, being published in 2016. It’s a little terrifying but very exciting and it’s opened up a world of opportunities for her to spread her message and talk to moms everywhere about living a life of purpose with your family.

Manny Wolfe had a rather unconventional start to life. His story starts out with being born into a cult in the late 60’s in the San Francisco Bay area, where he was programmed from birth not to fit into outside society. At 8 ½ years old, the cult moved from right into the middle of one of the top 10 most violent ghettos at the time, Stockton, CA. Overnight, he experienced violence and spent the next 4 years in a constant state of flight-or-fight mode and the children in the cult received no protection or guidance from the adults. Between the countercultural mindset instilled in him, 4 years of violence, and an environment where drug use was encouraged, by the time he was 12 and they moved away, he was set on a path of drug abuse, addiction, criminal behavior, jails and violence.

It took years for him to even realize that his youth was not normal and, finally, he had a moment of clarity at 28 years old that sent him running. He disappeared from the life and the crowd that he was in, never to be heard from again. That decision marked the exact moment when his trajectory started to change. From that time forward, he began to pursue self-exploration, personal development, and studied what internal mechanisms had led him to that point.

He looked to thought leaders and as he started absorbing their teachings and undoing his own damage bit by bit, the person that emerged was someone who was tender, vulnerable and wanted to be of service to others. It would be many years still until he put their thoughts and his calling together. During the intervening years he did everything from construction to being a playwright, until one day his fiancé told him he should write a book about his experiences.

After the book was done, the question became, “how do I get a platform to sell it?” A podcast was the obvious answer. From there, the possibilities just opened up a whole new life for Manny and today, he is a Public Speaking and Charisma Coach. If you need to deliver from the stage in a way that is dazzling, Manny will show you how to get there by using your body language and speech as your secret weapons.

Amos grew up Amish, one of the most conservative communities in existence. He knew nothing but farming and hard work but, in his heart, he knew that was not the life for him. That drive for something bigger, coupled with dyslexia, a learning disability that the Amish community refused to understand or recognize, led him to make a commitment at the age of 10 to prove that he could do something greater.

By the age of 21, he was running his own sawmill business, but it was only doing ‘okay’, and he was living paycheck to paycheck. A good friend of his told him, “you can be everything you want to be and have as much as you want”. That thought was always in the back of his mind, but it wasn’t until he was 37 and facing a serious illness that he made the decision that ‘enough is enough’. At that time, he had a wife and 7 children. He realized that if he died, his family would have nothing to survive on. It was at that moment, when he made that decision, that things started to fall into place.

He took immediate action but realized that he needed to start learning. He’d always felt ‘blindfolded’ when it came to learning because of the experiences of his youth, but he didn’t let that stop him. He listened to other people who had done well, like Brian Tracy and Napoleon Hill, and knew if they could do it, he should be able to as well.

Initially, he looked for an opportunity that would provide residual income for his family in the event of his death. But, he ended up with an opportunity that did not only that but improved his health as well. Today, he is not only financially successful, but he’s here and healthy and enjoying life, and getting to spend valuable time with his family while changing and impacting millions of lives!

At age 17, Mark had hit rock bottom, when he woke up in a jail cell with no memory of why and how he had gotten there. He had been going down a path of drinking and drugs and ended up being arrested for DUI. Not only had he been beaten up pretty badly by the driver he rear-ended, but was so intoxicated that he should have been dead. It was his wake-up call to leave that life behind. He moved back in with his parents and started getting his life back on track. Even through the bad times, he had never lost his relationship with God, and this time, God was speaking to him, saying, “What are you going to do with the second chance at life I have given you?”  From that point forward, he improved his physical being and pursued his college degree. He never felt that he was very ‘book smart’, but he was determined to outwork everyone else. He had a bigger mission to live a better life.

After receiving his Bachelor’s in Psychology, he moved to Ohio to work with his brother. Through a family friend, he had an opportunity to work with special needs adults in the Ohio ‘County Workshops’. He really enjoyed what he was doing but found the environment to be depressing and institutionalized. The adults in the program had 2 choices to fill their time all day-either color or work putting together machine parts. He took another opportunity teaching a new special education program for High School students with special needs, which eventually brought him back to the County Workshops when he would tour them with his students heading for graduation.

He realized just how fortunate most of us are that we do have options and these students had very, very few. He thought, ‘there has to be another way’, and God started showing him that he was that person that needed to bring the change. At only 26 years old, he started learning the Medicaid and Ohio rules for funding of these types of facilities. His used his brother’s campground as his campus and founded DreamShine with his sister.

Today, 9 years later, they have their own 2 ½ acre facility where residents can engage in a wealth of enriching activities and earn a paycheck that is higher than minimum wage. He’s expanded into leadership service, public speaking, hosting a podcast and has just written his first book, ‘The Story of You’.

Jim grew up in Tulsa, OK. All through his teenage years, his one dream and passion was to become a star football player and play in the NFL. He didn’t have a safety net or a Plan B and he pursued football to the exclusion of almost everything else.

During a routine sports exam for his high school football team, he was diagnosed with a condition that would cause him to lose his sight early in life. Everything came to a halt. He realized that not only would he be eventually blind, but he wouldn’t be going to the NFL either to live his life as a football pro.

He had to come up with another option. He switched his life path and became a weightlifter. He was able to end his athletic career having experienced championship and a Gold medal in the weightlifting arena. Shortly thereafter, in his late 20’s, he did lose the remainder of his sight. For a while, he was depressed and scared. It was a neighbor who turned him onto to his first motivational speaker, and he began to devour those messages. So much so that he’s now on his 3rd copy of that same program, ‘The Psychology of Winning’.

Over time, he got back into life, got his act together, and started a company that makes movies and television accessible to the visually impaired. Out of that, he became a speaker and then an author. Today, he has written over 30 books, 6 of them having been made into movies, has a weekly syndicated newspaper column and speaks to millions of people in arenas all over the world.

Cadey is the wife and business partner of a previous show guest, Alex Charfen. Born and raised in Dallas, she was a flight attendant when she met Alex 12 years ago and didn’t even realize she was an entrepreneur until they started dating!

Her father was the entrepreneur in the family, but, unfortunately, she didn’t get to see much of that lifestyle as her parents were divorced, and her stepfather was a ‘corporate guy’, staying with the same company for 20+ years. While she didn’t stay with Southwest Airlines after meeting Alex, her time there was a great experience for her to see what a really dynamic company looked like from the inside out and to understand what did and didn’t work.

After meeting Alex and discovering her entrepreneurial spirt, real estate was the natural path, as that was the predominant career background of almost her entire family. In her first year of selling real estate, she earned a triple-digit income, especially remarkable when considering the average 1st year agent’s income is approximately $28,000.

She was off to a very successful start but she and Alex, like so many others, got hit by the housing recession of 2007-2008. While it was personally devastating at the time, it allowed them to look more carefully at their own financial habits, and just as important, it led them to develop the CDP course and designation. The CDP was an answer to all of the foreclosures that no one, even in the industry, knew how to effectively deal with. They made a HUGE impact with this course, even being told by a representative in the US Treasury that their program alone probably sped up the housing recovery by 5 years!

Today, Cadey runs the operations and oversight for CHARFEN, the company she and Alex founded together. They focus on general entrepreneurship and want people to understand that if they can run a transparent business, then they can gain the support and trust that they need to go out and make the impact that they envision. For them, it’s not about creating a big company; it’s about creating a movement.

Stuart got to where he is today because he was really bad in school at one point! As a young kid, Stuart was failing school-in Singapore. Culturally, there is a lot of pride in doing well academically in Singapore and it was really quite the shock that, not only was he not doing well, he didn’t seem to care. He really hated studying and just wanted to ‘get by’.

His mom got so worried about school that she enrolled him in some enrichment classes. That’s where things started to change for him and put him on the path that would become his future. Those classes gave him a new-found interest in learning and he started doing so well that one of his classmates thought he was cheating! Stuart told him he made a turn-around because of the extra classes and offered to teach him the same. That first experience of sharing what he was learning, something that someone else could also use to improve, is what set everything in motion.

Not surprisingly, he became involved in teaching personal development. He was aligned with what he wanted to do but as an introverted kid, the thought of getting on stage to teach programs was unheard of. When he taught his first seminar, LEAP, to about 250 people, he looked up and saw 2 of his secondary school teachers were there and could not believe their ears!

He continued to teach, but it wasn’t necessarily about the money and was more of a hobby. He truly enjoys helping people live fuller lives. But, in 2002, the opportunity did come for him to start benefitting financially from his programs. That first year, with his business partners, he made $1.35M in revenue, which would grow close to $15-17M by the time he left, less than 10 years later. They had expanded into 7 countries and, at his peak, was training 16 hours a day.

He loves every moment of sharing with others that there IS joy in learning and this year marks his 22nd year as a professional trainer.

His started his career in mortgage as a loan originator, and then moved into business development and marketing, an area where he was better able to use his background, talent and skills. Jonathan Milligan had no idea he’d be doing what he’s doing today. He tells his son to keep his eyes open because this generation will create the jobs and opportunities that didn’t even exist as options when Jonathan was in school.

Both of Jonathan’s parents were teachers, so being in the environment, teaching was a part of him as well. After college, he also started out as a High School teacher and coach but only stayed in that position for three years. He loved teaching but the context was wrong for him-it was too structured for his entrepreneurial spirit.   He took time off to ‘figure it out’, getting a night job in a call center for nine months. He read all there was on starting your own venture but didn’t put anything into action. Finally, he felt that he was ready to go fail at something, because even failure was progress compared with being paralyzed from inaction.

His first round as an entrepreneur found him ‘flipping’ a house. Although he made a decent profit, he realized that was not his calling. Then, he took a 100% commission job recruiting for an executive search firm. He did that for 8 years and was successful, but he still had that entrepreneurial drive and wanted to use his gifts.

He then started blogging about the job search advice and strategies he had gained. He fell back in love with teaching but on terms that he could control.   The sky was the limit on income and creative freedom. He fell in love with it and he fell back in love with writing, a skill he hadn’t used very much since college.

When he started to see that people were getting value out of his blogging, it made him want to do it more and more. The next step was realizing that if they loved his free content, then maybe he could create something people would pay for.

From there, he progressed to what he’s doing today-he’s an author, a blogger, a speaker, and the host of 2 podcasts, Simple Life Habits and Blogging Your Passion.

Bolaji is the creator of Brave Little Heroes, a series of superhero stories for children ages 6-12.

Bolaji grew up in Nigeria to first-generated educated parents. Although his parents became doctors, they had grown up poor and had a very strong ‘do for yourself’ drive that they instilled in their children. That work ethic, combined with his love for American comics, led Bolaji to be an entrepreneur at just 10 years old, when he would draw and sell Spiderman images for lunch money.

He did well academically, going on to earn his undergrad degree in Computer Science and an MBA. Because his parents had come from a poor background, but became doctors, they saw a “good job” as the path to happiness and success because it provided financial stability. But, he tried working in Corporate America, staying in cubicles for 12 years, and never felt fulfilled. When he was laid off for the last time, even his boss said “I don’t know where you’re supposed to be, but this is not it”.

At the same time, he had been encouraged by his wife to start writing down all of the stories he was telling his children. Then, came the first publication. After a few challenging ‘start-up’ years, ‘Brave Little Heroes’ has broken through and they’ve now reached over 100,000 children around the world. He’s also recently started a podcast, Bravepreneur, to interview other entrepreneurs about their most defining childhood moments. As an adult, creating this company goes full-circle back to his childhood. He’s realized his dream and he’s having a blast doing it!

A turning point in Joel’s life came when he was just 5 years old, stemming from an incident that almost resulted in him being hit by a train. While out hiking with family and friends, he had climbed up on a train trestle that was 30 feet above a gorge. By the time his father saw him and was able to run to the tracks, the train was already there, but Joel was not. He had fallen the 30 feet below, where he lay on the jagged rocks, very narrowly missing death. He spent 3 weeks in a coma and, upon waking, had to re-learn everything a child his age already knew had developed.

He fought back, going all-in by investing himself in every aspect of his healing. He went on to earn both his MBA and a Master’s in Counseling, as well as becoming a syndicated radio host, life coach, author and podcaster. His latest book, ‘Finding Your Voice’, hit the #1 spot on Amazon in 3 categories-success, happiness and self-esteem.

His podcast, ReLaunch, is actually his 9th show, along with wife and co-host, Pei. They really hit the mark on this one, recently passing the one million mark in listeners. It has given them an opportunity to speak publicly on a national level regarding issues that people from all walks of life can resonate with.

Hal Elrod’s story is seriously amazing. At 19 years old, he was hired as a salesperson for Cutco Knives. In his first 10 days, he broke a sales record that had been in place for years. This was a revelation to him as he had not been a high achiever growing up. It created a new identity and mindset for him-he started believing that he could achieve what he put his mind to.

A year and a half later, after giving a speech which got a standing ovation, he was on cloud nine when he was hit head-on (and subsequently on his driver’s side as well) in a crash at a net speed of 140 mph. He died on the scene and a few times over the intervening days, until he woke from a coma 6 days later with multiple broken bones and brain damage.

He told his parents he would walk again but, if not, he would be the happiest wheelchair-bound person anyone knew. The circumstances he found himself in were the worst case scenario but by accepting them, they could have no effect on his emotions. He was able to be happy and grateful to the point that medical staff thought he was in denial! Two weeks later his body was healing so rapidly that the doctors let him take his first step in rehab. All the cliché things we are told about mind over matter, etc., really proved to be true.

Eight years later, he hit a point in life that felt even lower than his accident when he lost everything in the 2008 financial crisis. Facing depression and loss, it was a series of events that led him to hear a quote by Jim Rohn that was the catalyst for changing his life. It was the catalyst to change his life. That quote inspired him to go on a quest for the #1 practice that the world’s most successful people do. He actually came up with six and the next day he had his Miracle Morning-his life changed because although it was still a mess on the outside, internally he felt unstoppable.

That book has now sold over 100,000 copies, Hal has realized his dream of becoming a public speaker, now getting engagements all over the world, and the Miracle Morning Community, one of the most engaged online communities at over 23,000 members and growing by 100 members per day!

Working with people from around the world for the past 20 years one common denominator I have seen is the dislike for Mondays.  This is mainly because people do not like what they do for a living and the thought of starting another week stresses them out.

Did you know that more people suffer from heart attacks on Monday mornings than any other day?

What if you could look at Monday differently?

Ryan Lee has a borderline obsession with entrepreneurship and independence. His life mission is to help as many people as he can live a better life.

Ryan started his first web site back in 1999 while still working full-time at a children’s rehab hospital. That site was to promote his sideline personal training business. This was BEFORE youtube, facebook, twitter and just about anything that’s cool now.

He grew that one fitness site into massive empire spanning multiple markets which now generate 7-figures per month of income in everything from health and nutrition to software and membership sites.

Ryan is the author of 2 books “The Millionaire Workout” and “Passion to Profits”. His live sell-out events have become legendary including the Continuity Summit and DotComXpo.

He has also contributed to the NY Times Best-Selling Series “The Worst Case Scenario Business Survival Guide” and has been featured in dozens of books including Moonlighting on the Internet, Masters of Marketing, Attention! This Book will Make You Money, and The Phenomenon movie. And he was also featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, the cover of Millionaire Blueprints magazine and dozens of other major media outlets.

He lives in New Canaan, CT with his wife Janet, and their 4 young children (Jordyn, Lauryn, Camryn and Jake). You can usually find him in the morning working from Starbucks, catching a movie in the afternoon and taking his kids to endless birthday parties and sports on the weekend. Oh yes, the life of an entrepreneur.
