Tel Aviv based producer E-bony debuts with his first EP, thus joining the dark forces of our infamous sister label Wrong Era. “Stray Cats” is six tracks killer EP with rumbling basslines, cuAng edge synth sounds, and an unstoppable rhythm that hits you in the stomach and takes you for a spin with no way back. Everything you expect from this Ctle is true. From the dark electronic sounds, to howling cats like synths flying through your ears. The Duca Bianco posse continue to plough headlong into the thicket of vintage dance music across genre boundaries, with a crack team of deepest diggers picking out lesser spotted jams and giving them an expert re-rub. First up, Franz Scala drops some synth-pop B-side dub mix magic on 'Sweet Carillon', before Hysteric leaps into action with the staccato body-popping bombast of 'Pleides', coming on like Yello and The Human League rocking out with Thomas Dolby. Beatfoot & DJ Dollpin bring a seriously salty slice of proto trance voodoo on 'Osdorp Discoteca', capturing the magic of the sound when a melting pot of influences such as Italo disco were feeding into the musical mix. Cherrystones finishes things off with 'Gom Reg Raga', a loping, polyrhythmic meditation with plenty of mysticism folded in between the earthen drums.
Forward-thinking Italo-come-EBM fusion on the latest Italo Moderni release. 3 original tracks by Technobeton following on quickly from their Bordello A Parigi debut under their Discobeton guise. Technobeton's first solo EP crosses the lines between disco, italo-disco and club-focussed EBM. Heavy-weights Antoni Maiovvi, Franz Scala and Donald Dust provide the remixes.

Piccadilly records review: "Mmmm yeah, it's time for another MMDISCOS, this time featuring the stellar selections and edit expertise of Franz Scala. Not only is Franz one of the biggest Italo DJs in the game, he's the owner of the excellent Slow Motion imprint, which stands alongside the likes of Red Laser and Bordello A Parigi at the top of the nuovo Italo tree. We're in electrifying Italo territory right from the off here as Franz works his magic on Electra's "Are You Automatic", a midtempo mover whose camp vocal examines cybernetic affairs while the chugging sequences and detailed percussion powers on below. Neon-tinged and stiff with hairspray, this high drama heater should move your floor from the warm up to the peak time perfectly. Over on the B1, Franz freaks GJ Lunghi's "Acapulco Nights", drawing every ounce of drama out of the resort-Italo classic. Building up from a majestic bassline, the track grooves through sparkling sequences, sci-fi stabs and swelling pads, peaking with a murmured vocal and big pianos - Italo perfection if you ask me. Not content with flooding your pleasure centres with "Acapulco Nights" Franz takes on Wish Keys' "The One You Love", stripping back the vocals, upping the tempo a little and letting those outrageous instrumental elements come to the fore. Sustained pads, jazz-meets-Italo bass synth and sublime sax take you there, then the uber-80's Cocaine in Rimini romance crashes in like a wave. Italo for the Balearic crowd!

"Anacondas" has a cheery tone, all sunny synth lines and a laid back boogie rhythm section, while "Thai City" is more like a scratchy beat track for DJs to get clever with. "Shadow Dancer" is one of the record's stand out moments - a muscular pop burner for all 80s romancers to get emotional and funky to. "Rascals" finishes the EP off with some seriously tough drums and some body-popping electro styles that should go down a storm on the floor.

Spinning gold is pretty difficult. But that’s what Franz Scala does. Simple when you know how, and this Italian does. Three tracks of pure italo sunshine. Snapping beats and cocktail chords meet on the dancefloor for ‘Discoteca Paradiso’, sleek synthlines keeping time as the pair turn and twirl. ‘Gun Theory’ works in moonlit. Clean drums are sullied by dripping keys, a cigarette locked in the teeth of this after hours affair. And the lights aren’t up yet, Scala has one more floor filler up his sleeve. Pulsing rhythms say there still hope, she’s style out there; but the bitter sweet melodies disagree. A lilting heartbreaker, in the elegant form of ‘Riflessi’.
