I’m sure all of us have had times where we didn’t want to hear feedback from someone, but it made a difference for us in the future. Maybe it was a time when you needed to hear that you interrupt your colleagues often at work, or maybe your partner doesn’t get enough words of affirmation from you. Maybe your kids will tell you that you spend too much time answering emails while you’re at home instead of playing with them. Whether we’re at work, with family members, or friends, we get feedback all the time that we can react negatively to, or that we can accept it and implement it. How can we best receive it?
This week I sit down again with Bill Lewis to have a candid conversation on how we as people can best hear and accept feedback in our lives. Take a listen with me on this week’s Get Your Mind On podcast as we discuss the Gift of Feedback.

We just celebrated Valentine's Day and many of you most likely have love on your mind. You may have bought flowers for a significant other or a friend, while others opted to get the chocolate (even if it was just for yourself). But how can we focus more on love every day and ensure it starts with us first. Valentine's Day is focusing on loving a partner, but do you ensure that you are loving yourself first? I want you to take a moment to think about that today. Let's dive into this week's Get Your Mind On podcast to talk about love.

If you remember back to our last episode, I discussed the concept of a to-don't list. This is a list of items we need to evaluate and pass along so that we can focus our attention on the tasks we personally need to accomplish. Is this list growing for you? Are you looking at everything in your life and realizing there are pieces sucking up your time and attention? Hopefully, your to-don't list is growing and your to-do list is shrinking and narrowing its focus.
As evaluate our to-don't list, Iet’s talk this week about how we can take those responsibilities and obligations and adequately delegate them to free up ourselves. Take a listen this week and let's dive in together to delegate and celebrate.

Are you optimizing it to the highest productivity that you're capable of? We all have full authority to do what we'd like with our time. You are in control of your life and your 24 hours. But what if you fell off track or that you can't control your time? Whether it's family time, work schedules, or items on your to-do list that are restricting you from accomplishing the aspirations you've set for yourself. Maybe you should think about how to fix your time or items you need to say no to. Or put differently, maybe items you should put on your to-don't list. What's a to-don't list? I'm sure many of us have too many tasks on our to-do list. How can you take more control of your life by ensuring there are projects or tasks you are committed to delegating to free up your time? I want to discuss this week the importance of a to-don't list, and ensuring your best use of your time to accomplish everything you've committed to this year. What are you doing today to fulfill everything you would like to accomplish this year?
With the beginning of a new year, many of us have the desire to succeed. You may have set resolutions or goals, or even aligned with a word for your year. But now that we're halfway through the month, are you still on track? Did you miss a day or two of working out? Did you eat that donut you claimed you wouldn't touch? Did you get caught up in work responsibilities and forget to spend the time you wanted with your children? I want you to give yourself grace and listen to this week's podcast. I spent time this week talking with Bill Lewis, who is a member of our Lori Stohs Consulting team. We discuss the importance of aligning our goals and making smarter choices.

When we think about a new year with new goals and plans, we sometimes use it as an exciting restart. Resolutions are created to change up what we did last year and become the best person we can this year. Even though 2020 may not have been exactly like we all planned, you probably learned something valuable from it. How did you grow from last year? What new and exciting opportunities are created for you this year? I want you to take the opportunity to look at the plans you've set for yourself this year, give yourself some grace on accomplishing them, and then looking forward to what you can do to succeed. When have you taken the time to develop someone around you?
Was it a co-worker, a mentorship opportunity, or in your life with your children? Having the opportunity to develop others allows us to share our knowledge and enjoy the blessing of being able to impose wisdom on others. I've had the experience in my life to see the impact that's been made when people have great connections in their lives who work to develop them in all facets of life. But sometimes it can be unhealthy. What may be an ideal relationship could turn into an experience where they become reliant on you to give them the answers. How can you work to give advice and judgment on life experiences without enabling bad decisions or even limiting their growth? Let's dive into this week's Get Your Mind On to talk about Developing or Enabling.

Are you naturally in the zone and driven to where you're headed? Or do you get sidetracked by other daily obligations that derail you from responsibilities you may need to complete?
Regardless of where we are in life, we each have unique distractions. A task that may come easy to one person may be difficult for another. As our lives are constantly changing these days, new distractions will begin to emerge. Some of you are probably still working from home when you did not expect that to be the case at the beginning of 2020. Since these occurrences can lower our energy and productivity, what can we do to limit and overcome them? The distractions we can control may need slight adjustments, and then those out of our control may take work on our end to manage them effectively. I want to take today's Get Your Mind On podcast to talk about overcoming your distractions and how we can be more successful even through them.

How does engagement impact the wellbeing of your people?
In this pandemic we are living in, we are focused on how we can operate successfully as companies. Many people are asking if their company can stay afloat? Can you keep all of our staff? Can we keep our production open? How is work at home affecting our employee's engagement? Take a moment to put that aside and think about the wellbeing of your employees.
This week, I have the privilege of speaking with Dan Witters, Principal and Research Director of Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index, about how we can focus our attention on the wellbeing of our coworkers and employees. Dan has had an extensive career working at Gallup. Join us for a great conversation regarding wellbeing and engagement. Take a listen to this week's Get Your Mind On.

How do you organize tasks in your life? Is it on a to-do list, written sticky note or maybe saved in an app on your phone?
To-do lists can have amazing energy or they can be draining.
This might motivate us to accomplish all of our responsibilities in life. Whether it's work, home, or family life, these lists can get us excited about what we get to do. But other times, they can be exhausting. More often than not, most of us probably live in this most often. Have you looked at a list and thought, "I don't have enough time today to get everything done I need to"? Or maybe every time you checked something off your list, your boss added three more tasks to the end of it. Imagine what could happen if you took a moment to bring the right energy into your responsibilities. It could be something you absolutely love and appreciate in abundance, instead of something that can drain you. On this week's episode of the Get Your Mind On podcast, let's talk about how to cultivate the best energy to bring to your to-do list.

How have you been managing your life transitions?
Regardless of where you have been these last six months, I'm sure you've been through some life transition. For me, I moved to Portland in January to be then sent into lockdown in March and that was not how I expected my year to progress. It was a hard transition for me in a new city and no family nearby.
What changes have you made to overcome these transitions? On this week's episode of Get Your Mind On, Bill Lewis from our team will talk about Managing Life Transitions. You can listen to the podcast as you normally would, but you can also find it in video format on the getyourmindon.com website and the Get Your Mind On youtube page. Are you answering emails, scrolling on your phone, or maybe driving all while listening to the podcast? Take a moment to think about what it feels like when you listen. Most often when we have conversations, we appreciate being listened to. Being heard and understood is important for us as humans. We value the connection with those around us and physiologically it affects the connection we have with them. Sometimes it's the appreciation of just taking a moment to listen fully to a friend or coworker who wants to talk through a problem or an issue they're having. Maybe it's spending time and listening to your children when they ask the same question for the hundredth time. What value can you bring to those around you when you truly take time to listen? I want to talk this week about the importance of presence and listening to the world around you. Let's talk about the effect it has on our life when we completely listen.

When was the last time you put an out of the office on your email? With the changing nature of work these last few months, it has drastically changed everything from how many hours you work in a day, to not having the ability to take summer trips with your family. Even if you haven't taken a vacation, it's also difficult for many since working from home makes it harder to disconnect, you probably haven't taken a day off of work in a while. It's important for our mental wellbeing, overall productivity, and general success to take time off of work. As you listen to the podcast today, take a moment to analyze where you are with taking time away from work. How can you continue to lead thoughtfully and manage effectively through this ongoing pandemic? None of us truly know what will happen next as we continue to cope with the effects and adjustments that are happening due to COVID-19. Some companies are creating their reentry strategies while other companies have called off working in the office through the end of the year. It can be argued that we need our leadership stronger now than ever before. How can we foster a culture that is adaptive to the shifts that are being thrown upon us and think differently about the future? It is no secret that COVID-19 has shook up our entire world and changed workplace behavior and expectations. Some of you are essential workers who have stayed in your office or place of work throughout this pandemic and helped keep operations running. Others of you are beginning to see what it looks like to open back up offices to work. We've probably become accustomed to working from home but many people are ready to shift back to the idea of a "normal life". What's the best solution to adapt back into life during the continuation of COVID-19? The fact of the matter remains that some employees are ready to be back working full steam while others may be hesitant to step back into a building with other people. Today I want to talk about how to communicate your level of comfort and aligning to your role and your responsibility at work. And how to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported as we continue to navigate this world during a pandemic. Listen in on this week's Get Your Mind On podcast.

We are nearly halfway through the year. Many major events have happened in the last six months so I'd like you to take a moment and think about your expectations and the goals you set for yourself including following your bliss. How would you describe bliss? When you're in bliss, you have a great state of energy, ease. creativity, accomplishment, and more. Bliss comes from being in a natural do-what-you-love mindset and flow. How can you engage in the projects you love? This week, I want you to think about how to apply your talent, knowledge and skills to elevate you into a sense of bliss. Let's talk about this on this week's episode of Get Your Mind On.

How are you aligning in your career and life right now?
I’ve had some conversations this week with people who are questioning their roles and thinking about the alignment to their values. Because of job loss and furloughs, many people are looking back on their work to decide if this is what they want. So they are taking time to define and align. Are you getting the support you need from your manager? Does the company’s way of treating people to align with your view on humanity? Does your schedule allow you flexibility for your priorities like family? What aspects of your career can you reevaluate currently? If you have been complacent or feeling out of sync, now might be a good time to stop to define what’s important and have a conversation with your manager or if unemployed, seek what fills your soul. And if you are aligned and in sync, celebrate! Let’s talk this week on Get Your Mind On to check in on your alignment.

Continuing our conversation of the abundance mindset, Eric Moleski, CFP®, AIF®, President of GEN Financial from Plymouth, MN who is a great businessman, community leader, and man of character, will share his story. In challenging times we have a tendency to live in lack. Eric lives fully in abundance and I wanted to bring him to our conversation today to share how he found abundance in his life and taps into it daily. We are going through many difficulties as a country and a world right now. Between COVID-19 and racial inequality, many people are sharing various emotions. There is also a lot of scarcity going around right now. Whether it's a lack of jobs with many people furloughed or laid off or even to the lack of supplies like toilet paper in the stores. People are anxious and unsure about what the future holds. But it's important for us to remember how abundant our lives are. We are the ones who can set an abundant mindset in action. In the United States, we are recognizing those who gave their service and those who sacrificed their lives to fight for freedom in our country. What a good time to celebrate and check in on gratitude. And with everything going on around us, we should take each day to express gratitude for all that we have. I've seen many posts lately that inspire gratitude in our lives and it is helpful to increase the vibration and it can impact more than you know.
Today I want to welcome you into a great conversation with Jennifer Marcaccini. She has invested her career in human potential. She has been teaching yoga classes, conducting workshops, and leading retreats internationally since 2009. Jennifer worked for over a decade as a consultant and coach to Fortune 500 companies, helping them improve their employee and customer engagement to operate more productively and consciously within the ever-changing business climate. How do you share your value?
Do you take the time to know how valuable you are? In difficult times like this, we often forget our successes or all that we've accomplished. Some of you might be struggling right now to understand your value if you were let go from a job. Maybe you were furloughed or maybe you're still fortunate to have a job. It's vital that we remember what we can accomplish and the worth that we bring to those around us every day. But it's also important to understand the value of our own worth for ourselves. Once you remind yourself how valuable you are, are you sharing it by going out and finding the next big step for you? Don't forget what you bring to the table and how you can continue to make a difference. This week I want to remind you to Know Your Value and Share Your Value on our podcast episode.

How do we handle these difficult times in our world, our personal lives, and in our workplaces?
It is very likely that your life has shifted in the past weeks changing up your day-to-day practices. Many places are closing, events are canceled, and many people are working virtually. I personally had to cut an international work trip short due to this virus and am now working with employees virtually and working to make the best of the situation. How do we lead through these times? I’m sure many of you leaders have had a crisis before and it takes a lot of hard work to continue day-to-day operations while being cautious during this pandemic. So how can we continue to execute with our teams on a daily basis while segmented and sometimes remote? How can we best unify a workforce regardless of location? That is what I want to talk about today on the podcast. Let's talk about how we can lead remote teams through challenging times.

What is burdening you every day and is something that you can give up to increase your engagement at work and in life?
We are getting closer to spring... refresh and renewal. The light in our day is longer and may be bringing more joy to you. But even without that how can you have more light in your day. What have you been doing in your life lately that has been making you excited? Are there parts of your work and life that drag you down? I'm sure sometimes you try and power through them to get the work accomplished, but they don't give you the energy you need to succeed in your work. So how do we fix that? Well, we give things up! Let's talk about that more on this episode of the Get Your Mind On podcast.

How do you gather and sort your thoughts when you are going through something or frustrated with someone? It is important for us to do our best to build the best connections with people in our lives. Many of us have someone who we can confide in but it helps to express our thoughts by writing them down. This is where I bring in the quote “Paper is more patient than People” from Anne Frank since occasionally those around us may not understand our situation or how to go about helping us. Let's talk about this more in this week's Get Your Mind On podcast.

What encounters in your life are you embellishing or altering in stories to fit your needs? It is very easy for us to build out a story and add additional facts, purposefully or subconsciously. It is scientifically proven that situational aspects in our lives or how we are prompted before telling a story can alter the story in a different direction than that which was factually true. So how can you approach this in a more straightforward way? This has the potential to be rectified by just asking the question. What’s the question? Let’s talk about that today on this week’s episode of Get Your Mind On.

How do we bring people into the workplace at any stage of employment while preserving comfort for everyone involved?
If you've read my book (https://www.getyourmindon.com/books) or have worked with me frequently, I'm sure you know how passionate I am about making the best out of someone's first day. Creating a successful onboarding process and making sure someone feels welcome is a difficult, yet very important task. One key factor of having a great culture is ensuring a sense of belonging with the coworkers around you. This not only boosts productivity and retention, but it drastically increases an employee's desire to work for a company. So how can you create this? Let's talk about that on today's episode of Get Your Mind On, Being Open to Others.

I'm sure you have been seeing all the Valentine's Day items all around you lately. It definitely makes us think about the love we have in our lives. And telling those important to us that we love and appreciate them is probably on our minds. But why do we need a reminder of love and sharing our love when we could be sharing our love year-round?
Today I want to focus on how we show love...for ourselves. Sometimes this is always the last place we share love when in actuality, we need to make sure that we have enough love to take care of ourselves before we can share it with others. Let's dive into this week's podcast as we think about how to love you!

What is the emotional impact of you leaving a job and coworkers behind? Maybe you're thinking about changing your place of employment and you're worried about what it'll do when you start something new. Or, if you're very content now, how has the changing of a role in the past affected you? It's important for us to understand this emotional impact for yourself and for those around you when someone leaves a company or the company shifts because someone new has started and is working to get acclimated into your new company culture. What do you do to omit all of the negativity you're hoping to leave behind at your old workplace? I hope you can take some time for yourself to look at your life and ask if there's anything you can do to change your thinking to heal any past difficulties. Let's listen in to this week's GET YOUR MIND ON on the top of Healing Workplace Wounds.

Have you been asking those around you for what you need? Recently I have been in a number of conversations where I am realizing people seeking guidance from me are not asking for what they need from the people around them. I hope I'm not the first to tell you, but it's okay to ask for help. Whether it's you're worried about what people will think of you or if you don't want to be seen not being smart enough, it's alright to seek advice. This is how we can grow as humans and gain more insight into solutions to problems or guidance when needed. As we continue with the recent conversations we've been having on the podcast, let's look at how you can better ask for what you need and ask managers provide environments where people can ask for what they need.

Have you been ever thought about how you may be wrong in a situation?
As you ideate on that question, I hope you enjoyed our conversation last week about psychological safety. We’re going to continue on a similar subject today as we think about intellectual humility. I’m sure many of you have worked with people who have a hard time being humble and admitting they’ve provided inaccurate data or messed up a decision on a project. How can we create a culture that builds people up for admitting mistakes and stewarding them toward finding a better resolution? In this week’s episode, I want you to think about how you can find better intellectual humility in your own life and create a culture of safety where more innovation and safety can exist.

How do you think about safety at work?
What if I asked you to think about safety outside of our traditional definition of the word? There's a lot more complexity to workplace safety besides physical safety. In our day to day business, we look for ways to create environments where employees feel safe and enjoy the work they do. We know that employees perform best when they feel connected, comfortable and safe in their workplace. One factor in assisting in leading an employee to this is psychological safety. What exactly do I mean? Let's take a listen to this week's Get Your Mind On podcast to find out.

How have you been feeling lately?
Are you a bit busier than normal preparing for the holidays and year-end work deadlines? It’s very important for all of us during this time of year to make sure we take time to take care of ourselves. Whether it’s mental, physical, or emotional, prioritizing ourselves puts self-care right where it needs to be.
So how are you taking care of yourself? Are you getting enough sleep or spending too much time running through the malls? Are you working yourself too hard or spending good time with family? Think about how you are prioritizing care for yourself. Remember your best present to anyone is your presence. It’s hard to have that presence if you don’t take time for yourself. Let’s talk about a few more ways to put yourself first in this week’s podcast.

Here in America, we are celebrating Thanksgiving this week. Now, we talk about gratefulness all year round, but it's important to take time to stop and think to make sure we are always thankful. This week, I want you to think about how you can live greatly, where it's not just a moment of gratefulness that you take every day, but it's a constant state of being. Do you struggle to ask for something that you desire? Are you in clear in what you are seeking and why you are seeking it?
Sometimes we get caught up in the current flow at work and we may have something that we want but don’t ask for it. Then it builds up inside emotion and may cause disengagement. Do you get nervous asking someone for a moment of their time to seek suggestions? What about that promotion that you really want but don't know how to bring it up to your boss? Or maybe it's wanting to create a flexible schedule but you are afraid your manager will say no. In this week's podcast, I work with you on how to get clear in what you want and be able to have confidence in asking for it so that you can create your best life.

Have you heard the phrase “Be the Light”? Have you pondered what it really means?
Light has a large impact on our lives and how we perceive the world. With so much darkness lingering with all of the pain and hurt, light brings hope and awareness. At the beginning of today's episode, I share a story about how the lack of light made a large difference in how I felt during a situation. Just imagine what you could change if you were the light for someone. Let’s dig deeper into today’s podcast on how you can be the light for others in your daily life and how that makes a difference in those you touch in your business, work and personal life.

To build upon our conversation last week on will they stay or will they go, today we are talking about the Performance Review Process.
Are you consistent in your process?
Is it a valuable dialogue with your team members?
Are you evaluating performance and behavior?
Whether you are a manager or an individual employee we should all take into consideration the importance of the review process. When an employee doesn't get information on their successes and improvements needed in their role, they are almost left stranded in hopes that they keep doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Will your employees stay with your company, or will they move on to something bigger and better?
Retention rate with a company is a hot button. The hiring process always takes longer than we like, training an employee uses valuable resources, and employee engagement is better when you have a team you feel a part of. Since unemployment is relatively low these days, what can you do to create the best employee workplace to continually ensure your employees enjoy their jobs? You might have very talented people in your organization that are great assets to the success of the company and losing them would be difficult. In this week’s Get Your Mind On podcast, we ask the question about the employees at your company: “Will they stay or will they go?”.

How much effort do you put into your practice?
Tony Robbins says, "It’s what you practice in private that you will be rewarded for in public." Often times we may see people and assume they get their accolades after some quick work or because they're just naturally fantastic at what they do. Most often, those who are successful have achieved that through deliberate practice. This helps them hone their craft and maximize their overall performance. This week in Get Your Mind On, we're talking about using Perfect Practice to Maximize Performance.

Are you holding in emotions that are getting in your way?
What can you gain from writing out your thoughts?
All of us most likely deal with some form of toxicity in our daily lives. This could be an annoying coworker, a friend who always complains, or even someone in our family that brings stress and bad energy. How much is your own emotion responding to this? When I work with my coaching clients, I start them out by writing or journaling to get some of their pent-up emotions that are getting in the way. This "taking thoughts to paper" technique helps you detach from these emotions that may be causing you toxicity in your life. Let's talk about the topic more in this week's Get Your Mind On podcast.

How often have you heard the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words"?
What value and impact do pictures in your life play?
Last week I came back from a family vacation where I took hundreds of pictures. I capture many moments in photos and use them as an archive to look back on my life. Today I want to talk about the phrase, "a picture is worth a thousand words". I use this when I work with my clients because I know if they can see the picture, then it's likely that they have a better view of the situation we are discussing. They can see the visual and hear the message which is more effective. Let's look at this week's podcast as we discuss "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words".

Even though we oftentimes are our own worst critic, we also get let down by placing expectations on others. Last week we had a great discussion on setting expectations versus setting intentions. If you haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, listen to it here. Today we're going to continue that conversation by talking about the expectations we place on others. Whether family members, colleagues, friends, and even strangers, we may have expectations about how they're supposed to act or the way in which they are to do things. Many times our expectations of them are based on how we are feeling ourselves. Do you find yourself setting lofty expectations for yourself? Are you experiencing the "expectation hangover" after you don't meet your expectations? Whether it's our own personal drive to be greater than we could be or it's the societal pressures we face, sometimes our expectations that we set for ourselves can end up skewed. We set these standards most often to improve ourselves, but most people end up feeling worse about themselves if they don't reach that expectation. Yet, how can we appreciate the progress that we made in the process? Setting intentions help us succeed and be even more successful. Here in America, we are celebrating the Fourth of July; our national holiday to celebrate independence. As I reflected on this and the importance that it holds with our country, I thought about the blessing of being free. Not everyone around the world has the ability to live in freedom. Are you in a safe environment that allows you to express yourself? I'd love for you to listen to this week's podcast and think about your freedom, but also look at freedom from within yourself.

How much time do you spend caught up in your negative thoughts?
Sometimes we get stuck in these mindsets and don’t realize how much of ourselves we are losing to thinking this way. Negative thinkers bring their coworkers and teams down. It’s difficult and sometimes exhausting to even be around people who are negative. We may not have total control over our coworkers, but we do have the ability to shift our own thinking and revert it from being negative. Let’s look at this week’s podcast to learn how to shift this negative thinking.

What differentiates teaching and training?
It's no secret that teaching and training are important for the development of new and current employees, but which is the correct path? I'm sure you imagine teaching as something you did in school. You sat and listened to a lecture on a particular subject. Training, on the other hand, probably occurred when you first started a new job and watched videos on your company or learned procedures on how to do your job. How do these relate to your current situation? It's important to have your understanding of each so that you can gain insight yourself as well as pass along information to your coworkers. This way, your company as a whole continues to grow and improve to become even better. Let's listen to this week's episode on the difference between teaching and training and how to implement it successfully.

Are you living your life in a natural manner or creating a life with intention?
In our world today, we're almost expected to craft our lives to be perfect examples of graduating college, starting a job, getting a promotion, and then running the business from the top. I'm sure many of you have a career path that you're hoping to hit or a ladder pattern that you've mapped out to accomplish in the next few years. How can we break the mold of societal expectations and personal calculations as to how we're supposed to advance in our careers and create a life with meaning. This week, I talk about how we can live a life where we use our keen abilities to succeed naturally instead of a forced expectation.

Do you trust yourself?
Would you consider yourself trustworthy?
Do you trust your intentions?
Relationships are very valuable and we need to build strong trust for those relationships to grow. In order to strengthen these relationships, we first must trust ourselves and be willing to be open and vulnerable to others. Being a trustworthy individual means that we earn the trust of others while trusting our own intentions. Take some time to listen and think about how trust starts with you!

"You can trust me." These are four very powerful words. Trust is established when our words align with our actions. Trust grows when we are consistent in our behavior. Although trust is difficult to measure, we know when it is there and we know when it is absent. Trust is a necessary cornerstone on which success is built! Who you trust and how you are trusting impacts every day of your life.

Do you get excited about helping others learn and grow?
When was the last time you were proud of watching someone succeed?
As we continue on our month of love, we are focusing on loving to see others grow. Many accomplished people have so much to share to shape their employees. Mentoring and education tend to be a common theme of wanting to build others. I'm sure you have seen someone in your office who started out as an intern and have grown into a more accomplished individual is not just content but as a person. Are you aware of what you have done to help make that happen? We all have so much to bring to the table and to share with others. Since it is Valentine's Day week, I'm sure many of you are thinking about what you're going to get your spouse, partner or something for close friends and family. You're probably looking for the perfect gift that will mean everything to them. Thinking about this holiday made me wonder how can we actively show this same love year round. There is someone closer than your friends or your spouse or partner that deserves infinite love.
This week on GET YOUR MIND ON, I want to talk about loving the one you're with. I'm not referring to relationships you have with others, but actually the relationship you have with yourself. I would love for you to listen to this week's episode and find out more of what I mean. Sending you love today and every day.

As we enter into what many consider to be the “love month”, do you sit back and ask yourself if you really are doing what you love? When you spend approximately 75% of your life at work are you engaged and loving what you do? If you have been a follower, you know I am a big advocate for having a career that makes you excited to go to work and one that you absolutely enjoy and believe in. This has been something I’ve learned personally myself and, in the years, I’ve helped others understand how to best utilize their strengths and stay away from a “job” they dislike just because it’s a paycheck.
This week, I want to take a moment to share a very personal encounter I had that can help you best understand the importance of truly doing what you love. Sometimes we don’t take the step because of our fear.

When we reflect on where we’ve been, we can get a better grasp on where we want to go. Last week we talked about reflecting on 2018 and what you were able to accomplish. Did you take time this week to think about what happened in 2018 for you? Now that we’ve taken time to analyze our year, we have a better opportunity now to set the intentions we want for 2019. As we approach the winter solstice it’s a good time to re-establish the intentions before the new year. This week on the Get Your Mind On podcast, I discuss how to find “your why” for what you want to accomplish and what skills and strategies best propel you to exceed expectations for 2019.

Have you ever procrastinated on a new project because you feared what people would think about it?
How do you view rejection?
How has rejection stopped you from achieving higher levels of success in your life?
I believe we may hold ourselves back because we fear rejection from people around us. Sometimes we lose our focus from honoring what feels right to us instead of what people want us to do. Maybe we need a shift in our lives, whether it is getting a new job, getting new friends, or something else, we should not worry that we may be rejected but rather focus on being redirected. The rejection maybe an unseen gift that takes us to where we never imagined. What do I mean by that? Let’s talk about it in today’s Get Your Mind On podcast.

Where do you get help from those around you?
Do you have a support network that helps you through relationships, work, and life?
There are many support mechanisms around us in our lives. It could be systems, processes, technology, and people. It is easier for us to do life with those around us and not try to do it on our own. It’s important for all of us to have people who help us and lift us up when we are in times of need. Even if it’s just the small moments of life where we reach out and ask for a hand, these people are essential. What support do you need? Are you allowing others to use their gifts and talents to serve and you to use yours in a productive way? Let’s look at the impact of support and recognize a perspective on the importance of it in our lives. Enjoy this week’s Get Your Mind On.

When we think about management, most often we revert to those who manage us or the people we manage below us. This week I want to alter that assumption and talk about how we can manage those below us, our peers around us, and manage the people above us. We are most used to managing those below us so I want to challenge your skills and assumptions about management to think about managing up, down, and around.
What can you do to make this successful? How can you offer management insight to your superiors? What can you do to better your organization on this front? Let’s discuss this as we look at this week’s episode.

Are you refusing to believe the truth about situations in your life? Sometimes we hide and deny facts or situations in our lives that we either don’t want to solve or those we just don’t want to believe. When we want to take control, where does that come from?
There is a balance between wanting to take control of a situation versus taking responsibility for something. Sometimes people may believe that they are going to take responsibilities on a project or action, but they actually want to have control over those around them.
Two weeks ago we talked about fear based tantrums and how sometimes we as adults still have problems expressing our thoughts and emotions. I wanted to dive in a little bit deeper this week as to how to balance out control and responsibility so that we can all have successful work environments that optimize employee responsibility.

Do you occasionally see outbursts of anger and frustration in those around you? Maybe you recognize that you exhibit those traits sometimes as well. When we think about tantrums, more often than not we focus on children throwing a tantrum because they aren’t getting an item, attention, or something else they want.
It’s no secret that adults get frustrated and annoyed as well. Hopefully, this comes from a place of discontentment with a current situation and not with malicious intent to harm someone or rock the boat.
As we look into this week’s episode, I want you to think about what it looks like to be frustrated or angry in the workplace, potentially in a tantrum fashion. Take a look at your own actions and question if you’re throwing tantrums accidentally in your office. Click the link above to dive into this week’s episode.
Are you energized every morning when you get to wake up and head to work? We have the opportunity to wake up every morning and start our days off fresh, headed to work to accomplish our roles and responsibilities. Do you love what you get to do? If you are sluggish throughout the day or dread having to wake up in the morning and talk to the people who sit next to you, maybe it’s time to take a deeper look at your current employment. Or maybe it’s time to take a deeper look inside yourself.
We need to take the time to analyze how our life feels to us and really make this reality check a priority. Let’s dive into this week’s episode as we talk about loving what you do and how to best live it to the fullest.

How have you had growth in your life? What are you doing to better develop yourself and increase the value that you bring? Or as a follow up to that question, what type of value do you want to bring?
We can look at growth from many perspectives. The first thing that may come to mind in the workforce is either growth in your role of a company or increasing your salary or possibly a financial goal for retirement. Along with that same path, we also have qualitative growth in terms of sharing a better version of yourself. Are you growing in your ability to be respectful to your coworkers? Or growing to develop your leadership? Or even growing to make an impact on people’s lives?
Take some time and think about your growth and the direction of your focus.
