Every Wednesday morning, Upper School students attend Chapel. There is an annual Chapel theme and different speakers share their stories and life lessons each week. Some chapel recordings are not available. If you don't see one that you would like to access, or if you have questions, please contact us at communications@aacsonline.org.
Mr. Scheidt delivers a chapel on Psalm 13, reminding our community that it is holy and good to ask God "How long, O Lord?" and that it is important to know that we can trust God with our questions.
Upper School chaplain, Mr. Scheidt delivers our first chapel message of the year. Using Psalm 46 as a primary text, Mr. Scheidt encourages the community to find refuge and strength in God.
Mr. Dennstaedt kicks off our 3-week Advent chapel series by talking about God's provision and learning to recognize the gifts God has given us, even if we don't consider our situations or circumstances to be the kinds of gifts we want, we serve a heavenly Father who gives according to our needs.
Mr. Pfenson argues that the Christian life is a team sport –– we need each other. Junior Lydia Wood helped to teach Mr. Pfenson the basics of lacrosse –– some do's and don't's as part of an illustration for how Paul intends for us to interpret the list of things to "take off" and "put on" in Colossians 3.

The Bible department comprised a panel that discussed spiritual warfare and how to fight it and how to find God in the midst of spiritual warfare.
Curt Allen shared a perspective on how to put off anger (as we are called to do in Colossians 3) and encouraged the community to live into the call we have received as believers to pursue the things of God.
We hear from Mr. Dickens, Mrs. Zimmerman, and Ms. Mines about some specific times in their life when they were confronted with a sin in their lives or a situation through which God was trying to speak to them. They shared how God spoke to them and how they worked to put their sin to death.
Dr. McCollum addressed the students about the importance of putting to death (the mortification) of the flesh and our earthly desires.
Shawn McBride spoke to the students out of Colossians 3:5-6, focusing on Paul's teaching to put sexual immorality to death.
Superintendent Rick Kempton speaks to the students on the importance of listening to the voice of God and setting a good example.
The Academic and Grade-level Deans, along with Dr. McCollum take some time for a vulnerable and frank panel discussion about how they came to initially believe the Gospel and what sorts of things they have struggled with as they have come to faith in Christ.

Chris Hagen delivers a powerful message about the importance of having a strong "corner man" –– a boxing metaphor about support and confidence. God has given us the ultimate corner man in Jesus.
Superintendent Rick Kempton shared a few personal stories about his family as an encouragement to the students that God has great plans for them!
Laurie Short, author of multiple books, speaks to our High Schoolers out of Luke 22:32 about the plan God has for their lives and how his plans look different then ours, but we need to not lose faith.
Pastor Dan Smith of Annapolis EP Church delivers a message on the power and importance of forgiveness.

Mr. Rick Kempton, our Superintendent, spoke specifically about an incident that happened at an AACS Basketball game, and how God used that situation to bring restorative healing.
Mr. Swanson, our 9th grade Bible teacher, spoke about the exile of Israel and the great deliverance from our exile of sin that is Jesus.
Stephanie Reynolds, our 10th grade Bible teacher, spoke from Isaiah about the great sacrifice that God made to send his son to take our place.
Joey addresses the Upper School with the message of the Gospel, teaching about God's provision of life through his son.
Pastor Jimmy Rollins (of i5 church) teaches from Mark 2 about taking up our mats and living as if our sins are forgiven.
New PE teacher, Mary Frank shares part of her testimony and explains a bit about how even though there are struggles in her life and things aren;'t going perfectly, that just demonstrates to her how great God is and how one day we will be restored to him.
Jamal Hyman of Forest Park Church preaches on the Transformative power of the Gospel and urges students to seek God in all areas of their lives.
Tom Wenger spoke to the students about a period in his life when he experienced extreme doubt. He preached out of the passage that ultimately brought him back to faith.
Pat Linnell, the teaching pastor of Bay Area Community Church preached from James 3, on the power of words.
Superintendent Rick Kempton addresses the students with a few stories from his life in the hopes of inspiring them to not be ashamed of the Gospel and the power of testimony.
