What was once The Preemo Podcast and Pure Speculation have now been combined to bring you the best of both worlds. Welcome to the Disconnect. Every week, brothers and co-workers Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes take this opportunity to take a break from the stress of the daily work grind that comes from today's world as we attempt to Disconnect from the outside noise. We'll explore whatever comes to mind. Topics will vary (especially when Phil picks the theme) but regardless of the discussion, we hope you enjoy and take this time to Disconnect.
This week's episode brings in the first guest to The Disconnect studio. Mark Zarate is a Middle School Teacher, Fitness Instructor, and fellow Podcaster as host of The Cool, Calm and Chaotic Podcast. Zack and Mark dive into a variety of topics ranging from Geo-Political studies and how it relates to a younger generation, why we're so bad at managing our finances, putting forward best practices in life, best music for a Summer BBQ, and bring Mark up to speed on the concept of Yacht Rock. This and more on this week's episode of The Disconnect.

Mega Millions is currently sitting at an estimated jackpot of 1.1 BILLION dollars! Even with a cash payout and Uncle Sam taking his cut, that is some serious F U Money. Like everyone else, Zack and Phil have been daydreaming about what they would do if they won the big jackpot and ponder if money truly can buy happiness...
What would you do with a billion dollars? Buy your tickets and daydream with us on this week's episode of The Disconnect.

CNN Ratings are tanking. And the rest of the main stream media isn't performing much better. As they try to steer away from partisan narratives and eliminate opinion commentary in exchange for "hard" news in hopes of gaining a more middle ground audience, we can't help but wonder is it too late?
We know politics has become a joke and the way the news reports on it from all sides seems to only reinforce that. So maybe its time to replace the boring talking heads in exchange for someone the American People can get behind...
Zack and Phil strategize in this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Our two party system is flawed. Politicians are corrupt and we continue to repeat a never ending pattern of being forced into voting for the lesser of two evils. It's the same story every election cycle yet we as Americans remain optimistic that someday we will have a Democracy that truly works for the people it represents.
Unfortunately, this day never seems to come. As we become more divided by identity politics our culture becomes primed for a shift that could lead to a complete breakdown of society as we know it. But is there a solution?
What if we took the emotion, corruption, self interest and pandering out of elections? What if, Artificial Intelligence was in The White House making decisions that was best for the United States as a whole? Is this the perfect fix or potentially the beginning of the end for Mankind?
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Coming off of 4th of July, we shouldn't lose sight of what led up to the Revolution. No taxation without representation! As hard working American Citizens, we are finding ourselves taxed around every corner. Probably more than you would even care to realize. Are we getting the short end of the stick when it comes to our Government plucking our hard earned dollars from our paycheck?
And even that isn't enough as we continue to spend more than we collect at the Federal level. Are we starting to reach our breaking point as a nation while we spend ourselves into oblivion? Zack and Phil breakdown the numbers on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Happy 4th of July! As we approach this celebration of America's Independence, we reflect on the current state of our Country. Are the ideals we once held to be true about what makes America one of the greatest countries today still alive and well or have we veered off course and lost our way?
America is still young by comparison to other nations but there is no doubt we're experiencing an identity to crisis...but are we headed towards reaching our fullest potential or on the verge of utter collapse?
Zack and Phil discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Are we nearing a point where technology that was designed to make our lives easier is actually counteracting our ability to be productive? There is a clear disconnect between developers and real world applications that has become more apparent since COVID 19 lockdowns. Are developers the new paper pushers, re-writing code for the sake of filling up their days to collect a check while start ups value analytics and user data over functionality and simplicity?
Zack and Phil discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
The biggest rate hike by the Fed in 28 years was announced this week, leaping by .75% compared to the 0.5% rate hikes seen in March and May. And the Central Bank may not be done quite yet as rates are expected to rise four more times this year.
Will this move be effective for Powell and the Federal Reserve as they attempt to slow down the economy while we all brace for a recession or have Americans just be accustomed to signing on the dotted line, no matter what the interest rate?
Regardless, something needs to give...but is this too much market manipulation or a valid response to years of printing money and out of control pricing? Zack and Phil discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.

Memorial Day is the official kick off for the Summer travel season. Zack and Phil discuss their plans as they both Go North with the family this weekend. This trip will be a little different though as the FAMS crew gets ready to open the spin off store Third Coast Print in Houghton Lake Michigan. What other surprises will be in "store" this weekend (no pun intended)? Time will only tell...
This and more on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Since COVID 19, people have reported experiencing much more vivid and intense dreams. With the world changing around us, its no surprise that our stress and anxiety is influencing how our sub conscious forms our thoughts while we sleep. There are many types of dreams that can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but why do we all tend to experience similar themes? Are your dreams recurring? Are they pleasant or terrifying? Have you experienced sleep paralysis? What would it look like if we could live stream our dreams and is this the future of analyzing our consciousness?
Zack and Phil Disconnect from reality on this week's episode of the podcast as we dive down a rabbit hole of dreams and what they might mean.
The crypto market is in a freefall...and stocks aren't doing much better. Large corporations are posting quarterly losses and layoffs are coming in droves. Inflation on the rise...interest rates increasing...the great resignation is over and people are dusting off their resumes in search of a new job. Are these all indicators of a looming recession (that we all know is coming) or will you take advantage and "buy the dip"?
Zack and Phil dive into this and more on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Mr. Tesla/Space X himself is nearing completion of his hostile takeover of the social media platform Twitter and the Blue Check Mark Mafia is not having it. Accounts are being re-instated and the opportunity for an opposing point of view will soon change the way Twitter is used.
While it may not affect our day to day lives for those of us that don't find ourselves getting lost in this social media haze, it will undoubtedly play a roll in how the 2024 Presidential Election is ran.
Are we moving closer to freedom of speech on these platforms that were previously silenced or will we be bombarded with even more fake news and misinformation, making it even more difficult to determine where the truth lies?
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Since January 1, 2022, America has seen fires, explosions, and multiple plane crashes in plants and distribution centers. In the Internet age, you can imagine how this can spawn a variety of conspiracy theories. But when these stories are being underreported by traditional news outlets, people begin to draw their own conclusions.
Is this the beginning stages of a nationwide food shortage, Russian cyber attacks, Insurance fraud or just massive negligence due to an overwhelmed system?
Zack and Phil ponder all possible scenarios in this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Yes, we all know it's the year 2022. But did you know other countries operate under different calendars where their year is much different than ours? One calendar though is especially interesting though with the way its year lines up with 2012 and the start of the COVID outbreak. Maybe the Mayans were right all along and 2012 was the beginning of the end of the world...
Time stands still here on The Disconnect as Zack and Phil discuss this and many other topics.
As Americans, we eat more fast food than any other nation. Cheap, fast, and devastating to our long term health. Variations of the fast food model seem to line every new complex with a new concept disguising themselves as healthy alternatives to the traditional fast food chains we grew up with.
But has the lure of the fast food model once reserved for grabbing a quick bite on the go spilled over to every aspect of our lives? The media we consume, the products we purchase, even our relationships have all been given the Fast Food Makeover as we long for quick takes on tradition that used to make this country great. We're slowly transforming into a Fast Food Nation.
Have you had your break today? It's time to Disconnect.
As kids our imaginations run wild. Our minds are filled with ideas and concepts of what adulthood would be like if we were in charge. So as Zack sets out to design his future home, he wonders...what was that one thing as a kid that you wish you had in your house growing up? Our answers might surprise you...
Let your inner child run wild in this week's episode of The Disconnect with the Hayes Brothers.
We know the Internet exists, but do we really know who...or what is pulling the strings and causing you to spend more and more of your time in the grasps of its pixelated glow? The Dead Internet Theory explores the idea that the majority of what exists online is created by AI, designed to engage, divide and possibly even conquer.
Is this a simple algorithm designed by Corporate America to bring users flocking to their product or is this the beginning stages of the robot revolution that will eventually take over mankind?
Zack and Phil speculate on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
In the mid-’90s, the internet took the world by storm. For the first time in history, everyone had access to an unprecedented amount of information. In those early years, the entire web was curated by skilled webmasters who understood the inner workings of the internet. Over time, new technologies allowed everyone to share their thoughts and ideas with the world.
Recently, bots were let loose online to fulfill a variety of tasks. Most of these robots perform necessary and helpful tasks. Unfortunately, however, some were deployed for malicious purposes. Major sites across the web have documented the rapid increase in bot traffic on their platform over the past few years. The increased A.i. traffic has led some people to theorize that the internet is dead and the bots have taken over. The theory that we’ve lost control of the world wide web is known as Dead Internet Theory, and this is its story.
Spring is in the air which means we're heading outside to tackle some spring projects. The conversation quickly turns from building a garden to fond memories of what we enjoyed doing as kids and how we can instill some of the same feelings in our own kids for their childhood...and maybe give them a skill or two that we lacked when growing up.
And find out how Phil got bamboozled on what should have been a simple trip to Meijer on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
On this week's episode of The Disconnect, we mess with the Algorithm, debate whether there is a middle ground anymore in our country, and ponder whether or not our Government should be sending billions of dollars to Ukraine when parts of our country look like war torn states.
This and why Trump being silenced on YouTube for just having a conversation is bad for society on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Every once and awhile you start a conversation and never know where its going to go...this is one of those episodes.
Are we on the brink of World War 3? With everything happening on the global stage right now, it sure feels like we're on the brink of something that will have major implications on society moving forward. And with the world having a front row seat for the devastation of war thanks to the widespread use of social media, we are waking up to its grim reality. Is this our chance to change as a global society or is this the beginning of the end?
Start planning your fallout shelter for this week's episode of The Disconnect with Zack and Phil Hayes.
Is your bank account safe? If you live in Canada and you supported the recent protests of Government sanctioned mandates, then the answer may not be as clear as you think. By implementing emergency powers never before acted upon, there is a major disruption of the consequences that come along to having your voice heard and your rights to peacefully protest.
The real issue stems from the origins of where the money originated from but this was used as disguise to hit the average protester where it hurt. Right in the pocket book. What would happen if America made similar actions on their citizens? Do we really think that if it happened with our neighbors to the North that it couldn't happen here?
Zack and Phil discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
It was brought to our attention that many youngsters today think the band Nirvana was an overrated band...Anyone growing up in the Grunge Era of the 90s knows that this statement is pure insanity. But it made us wonder, are there cultural icons from older generations that we view through a similar lens? Why is so much of our personality based on the music and pop culture we digest during our formative years? Are things always viewed more favorably through the rearview mirror?
We had to pull a Boomer into the conversation for a different generational perspective. Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes welcome their father, Clayton Hayes, to this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Do we have a Mis-Information problem in our society or is it more of a matter of Information Overload? Our brains aren't equipped to handle so much content, charging full steam ahead at us 24/7. It should come as no surprise that we're questioning everything all the time. We now live in a world where facts don't matter because there is too much information to question what is actually true.
We're living in time where the messaging from our Government is "Just Trust Me Bro" and we shouldn't stand for it. But maybe we were better off during a time where we only had a newspaper and nightly news to analyze what was going on in the world. Maybe Ignorance is Bliss...
With the LA Rams defeating the San Francisco 49ers, they have solidified a trip to the Super Bowl. At the helm of this ship is former Detroit Lion QB, Matthew Stafford. After 12 years of NFL Purgatory, Stafford has a chance of winning it all in his first season out of Detroit. As a result, there are many Lions fans hopping on the Rams Bandwagon and will be rooting for Stafford to bring home the Lombardi Trophy.
Is this the closest Lions fans will come to a Super Bowl of their own? Maybe. Is the new found Fandom in a team from LA normal for Detroit Sports Enthusiast? Definitely not.
Zack and Phil discuss in this week's episode of The Disconnect.

Trains are being ransacked in California with little consequence for most offenders. But you probably haven't seen much on the topic from the usual TV news outlets.
As areas of the United States turn into safe havens for criminals, how long before we feel the effects in our own backyards? How close are we to a tipping point? Welcome to the Wild Wild West.
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes discuss in this week's episode of The Disconnect.
In the wake of the loss of one of TV's favorite dads, Zack and Phil look back at their favorite sitcom dads over the years. Their list might surprise you and they certainly don't agree on it all. We can learn a lot of what to do (and more importantly what not to do) as fathers as we discuss what made some of these characters so memorable.
Which TV dad do they compare themselves most to with their parenting styles? Find out in this week's episode of The Disconnect. RIP Danny Tanner.
The Disconnect is back with our first episode of 2022! Per the usual, people are setting New Year's Resolutions to ring in a change but not so fast...do they even work?
Zack and Phil discuss why they won't be making any resolutions only focusing on living life in this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Last week Phil talked Lizard People, this week Zack is up and he reflects on one theory that may just encapsulate every conspiracy theory you know. Truth is stranger than fiction and its only a theory until it's proven to be fact.
Put on your Tinfoil Hat for this week's episode of The Disconnect.
It's Christmas time so you know what we're talking about on The Disconnect! That's right...Conspiracy Theories! For the next two weeks we'll be discussing our favorite Conspiracy Theories and Phil is up first so you know it's going to be something weird...
Travel down the Rabbit Hole on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Do you or someone you know suffer from FOMO or Fear of Missing Out? In your younger years you may have equated FOMO to how it relates to social activities, but on The Disconnect, we're more concerned about FOMO as it pertains to opportunity.
So will you sit back and watch others reap the rewards of taking big risks or are you out there rolling the dice so you don't get left behind?
Zack and Phil discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
We didn't release an episode last week...we recorded, but we didn't release. The conversation seemed petty compared to what was happening in our neighboring communities. Sometimes things are bigger than the state of our economy and the trivial roadblocks we face at our jobs. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes tragedy to make you pause and put things in perspective as to what is ultimately important in life. Is there a solution moving forward to avoid such future incidents?
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes take some time to Disconnect and discuss in this week's episode.
We're in your feed a day early for a festive Thanksgiving Day Celebration as Zack and Phil play a game called Underrated/Overrated: Thanksgiving Edition. Happy Turkey Day from the Disconnect!
From processed foods and factory farming to consumer consumption and technology, sometimes its best to Just Say No.

Tragedy strikes at the Astroworld Festival resulting in 8 deaths of concert-goers, ranging in age from 14-27. Meanwhile, as paramedics pushed their way to attempt to save lives, performer Travis Scott continued his show while some of his fans took their last breath. Is this disgusting display of disregard for human life what our society has come to or can we use this as a learning lesson? Who should be held accountable? And will you think twice before sending your kids to their first concert?
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes discuss on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Upon Facebook announcing a re-brand on their corporate name to Meta Platforms to focus on the future of what the "Metaverse" has to offer our society, you have to ask yourself, is this really the company we want controlling this new internet? And is life really so difficult and mundane that people will turn to a real life version of The Sims to immerse themselves in? If you know anything about Zack and Phil, we're focused on Disconnecting. So you can take your Metaverse and shove it!
Phil finally discovers the source of his constant burnout in this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Donuts, Irrational Fears, Van Life, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Tillson Street, Aliens, Stranger Danger, That 70s Show and more on this week's episode of The Disconnect.
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes take a much needed break every week to discuss whatever comes to mind.
Since Zack and Phil clearly can't keep up with 2 weekly podcasts, we're taking this opportunity to combine the best of what Pure Speculation and the Preemo Podcast have to offer to bring you one brand new podcast (just what the world needs right now, right?).
When society seems to be in complete chaos and work never seems to end, we could all use a moment to completely unplug and have a good conversation. And that's exactly what we intend to do.
Join us as we take a break from the stress of the daily grind to talk about whatever topic might come to mind. From current events, to discovering new hobbies, personal reflection, family life and more this podcast will cover a variety of what makes life, well...life.
Welcome to the Disconnect.
It feels as though the United States is more vulnerable than ever. We have been fortunate enough to live in one of the safest countries in the world. But if we were to face an attack here on U.S. soil, would you and your family be prepared? Can we come together as a nation, putting politics aside for the greater good of our country? Zack ponders these questions on this week's episode of Pure Speculation.

Can we predict the future here at Pure Speculation? Probably not, but after teasing what a self-imposed shutdown for businesses might look like, GM announced it was shutting down almost all production on its most in demand vehicles due to lack of supplies.
With the economy recovering faster than anybody could predict, increased demands paired with labor shortages, should other industries follow suit or will the Government beat us to the punch as the Delta Variant narrative spreads across media outlets?
Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes ponder that scenario on this week's episode of Pure Speculation.

If you've been to a restaurant lately, you've probably noticed the absence of a familiar part of the dining experience. QR Codes are slowly replacing the physical menu at your favorite dining establishments. But for those who make an effort to disconnect and just enjoy the company of others when they sit down to break bread, its forcing us to bring out our devices and remain engaged with technology.
But its deeper than QR Codes. Restaurants and other businesses are struggling to find help and will continue to rely more on technology to change the experience of how we interact with establishments. Even as we long to go back to the way things were, its beginning to feel as though a shift is happening that will cause major changes roaring across us society wide. We all hide certain aspects of our personalities to conform to what is acceptable office behaviors. But some tech CEO's say its time to embrace what makes us unique and be ourselves for a more harmonious workplace. Will this be the new normal as staff begins to migrate back to the offices they vacated over a year ago or just cause more headaches for HR if individuals begin to let their freak flag fly? Don't forget, you still have to be professional...which is a struggle in and of itself.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has proposed a $300/week stimulus for laid off employees to get workers to return to the labor market. Is this rewarding bad behavior for those who have been milking the additional unemployment checks over the last year? Are these the kind of staff members small businesses will be welcoming onto their teams or will they learn to operate in a more lean state? And how does this narrative sound to hard working staffers who will now be working for less hourly than their new hires?

Kroger Health is leading the corporate charge by offering Million Dollar Lotteries and Free Grocery Giveaways to give incentives to Americans to get the COVID 19 Vaccination. States have also hopped on this trend by offering similar lotteries to get people to get the jab using tax payer dollars.
For those who haven't vaccinated themselves yet, what would it take for you to get the first dose? Is there a dollar amount or is it a safety concern? Shouldn't companies like Kroger Health be more focused on long term health concerns we face in America when it seems like we are getting closer and closer to normalcy?

In this week's episode of Pure Speculation, we dive into an article from the Washington Post that notes that the recent outbreak among players and staff of the New York Yankees organization proves that the vaccine is working. But as mask orders are lifted and restrictions relax are we luring people into a false sense of security? And with the CDC encouraging vaccinated individuals not to get tested if they come in contact with those that test positive for COVID-19, are the numbers being skewed to make it appear as though the cases are dropping more rapidly while crediting the vaccine? As vacant parking lots begin to fill with trucks and other vehicles that can't be fulfilled due to a lack of semi-conductor chips, automotive plants begin to temporarily shut down to prevent a surplus of product. And its not just the automotive industry. Consumer electronics are also in need of similar chips and the demand just can't keep up.
We're beginning to reach a point where human production and capabilities can't keep up with the ever growing global demand for tech. Is it time to get off the grid?

Dogecoin is up nearly 6,000% since the beginning of 2021 and last week saw the true potential of this crypto currency as it peaked at around $0.42 per coin. After 6 recipients of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine had complications of severe blood clots resulting in one death, the FDA and CDC quickly swooped in and paused the use of this single dose treatment. Individuals across the country have been relying on Government funded stimulus payments to help put money back in their pockets. This essentially boils down to a rebate from tax dollars that we've already paid out. Meanwhile, the Government uses these bills to fund their own special interest with only a fraction of the funds going back into the hands of the people.
On today's episode of Pure Speculation, we pose the question, what if the Government allowed you to keep more of the money you have earned instead of the average worker relying on them for a kickback? Do your tax dollars really get you what you want in today's society?

Now that things are opening back up, will consumers be flocking to retail outlets to breath some new life into their outdated closets? Some experts say its only a matter of time.
But with a year where athleisure and work from home attire swept the nation, it might be harder to adjust back to dressing up than you think. Here at Preemo we take comfort over everything and if the stock prices of company's like Nike, Lululemon, and Under Armour are any indication, the rest of the country might start looking more like Silicon Valley and less like Mad Men.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few weeks, you’ve heard the term NFT on the news, in an article, or in a tweet. Its the newest digital craze. But if you’re like us, you’re wondering...WTF is it exactly?
This new craze has created a market seeing crazy high selling prices and big returns for digital media. But the concept seems foreign to any one who might only be used to the traditional investments like stocks, bonds, real estate, and precious metals. Are you ready to diversify your portfolio or is this another trend that is sure to lose steam?

Bold statement? Probably not. I think we all recognize that the system is rigged against the individual and geared towards corporate dominance in conjunction with political influence to mold society into an image that works best for their dominance and self interest.
And even when it looks like David has a shot against Goliath like during the short squeeze put on Wall Street from a small number of Reddit users, we quickly get smacked back to reality finding that even with power in numbers, its not enough for a society that is controlled by Government and Corporations working hand in hand.
Robinhood claimed that it was for the little guy but it was made abundantly clear that they were being controlled by their real customer, the powers that be with the hedge funds who they sell information to. Thus stopping the short squeeze dead in its track and causing the average retail trader to lose big while hedge funds walked away with hundreds of millions of dollars.
Can things change when the same people setting policy are collecting a check from those that are manipulating the system? Get yourself out of the struggle state on this week's episode of Pure Speculation.

Since the pandemic started, we've seen a rise in consumer spending. People are buying more now than ever but the gratification that comes with these purchases of trinkets and other knick knacks is fleeting, sending consumers flocking back to their browsers to get the next fix.
Or maybe you were able to focus your attention on an even bigger purchase like a new home or dipping your toes in the stock market but you were left with buyers remorse wondering what is going to happen next after entering into a 30 year mortgage on a house that already doesn't feel like home or losing 75% of your position in GameStop stock...
Our mental state is in jeopardy as we get our dopamine fix from clicking add to cart. Why do we choose to focus our dollars on empty pieces of junk that leave a gaping hole in our hearts? Instead, can we break this addiction by focusing on practices that will set us up for long term success?

Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg recently downplayed the role that their social media platform played in providing an outlet for the Protesters of the Jan 6th Siege on the Capital to coordinate the event that took place. Sandberg implied that smaller fringe platforms who didn't have the same capabilities to monitor activity were actually to blame.
According to numbers provided in the charging docs from the Justice Department, that doesn't seem to even come close to the truth.
Has Facebook and it's influence on society gone too far? Why do we accept what they tell us at face value? And why do we waste our valuable time on such toxic platforms?

PPP has been one of the least discussed factors of the 2020/2021 COVID Stimulus packages, mostly only relevant to small business owners. And as our Government prepares to dish out the third wave of these forgivable loan plans for small businesses, we have to talk about the smoke screen that this has created for the unemployment rate in the U.S.
While some estimates claim this program has saved nearly 50 Million Jobs, we'll analyze why that figure might actually be a fraction of what is being reported.
Nearly $800 Billion Dollars has been pumped into the pockets of employers/employees allowing individuals to keep their jobs and companies to put profits into other avenues. But what happens when this program dries up by the beginning of Summer? Will we see an increase in the unemployment rate that seems stuck at just under 7%?
Are we saving jobs or just delaying the inevitable?

What happens when you open a business right before the Pandemic hits? Well, just ask our guest for today's episode of The Preemo Podcast, Ryan Mrdeza who is the Owner/Operator of Woodward Standard Print House in Downtown Birmingham. Ryan was one of the original founders of FAMS Printing and has partnered back up with our host Zack Hayes to bring custom printing to the masses and a brand new retail website called wearthemitten.com.
But it hasn't been easy. New businesses always struggle in the beginning stages but 2020 was a year unlike any other. The workload is heavy and the customer base is not what it was when the venture was first put into motion. And even with less assistance available for new vs established businesses, Ryan remains optimistic about what is in store for Woodward Standard.
Find out why that is and how Ryan has filled into the new role in the town he now calls home, Birmingham, right here in the Mitten State.

Big Tech is stepping up to the plate to fix the tear in society that they helped to create, all while generating record profits. Publicly they speak of shock for what unrolled at the Capital Building earlier this month, but internally these companies were well aware of the divide and rhetoric that was fueling their platforms. Now censorship in America is being regulated by these same platforms that seem to have more power and control than Government itself.
Is it too late to fix? Do they really even want to? And while former President Trump remains a lighting rod for the incident that occurred, maybe we should be looking at Tech CEO's like Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey to unleash our frustrations on.

Happy New Year! With this New Year comes the promise of another round of Stimulus Checks! This round won't be quite as exciting with the amount per person being chopped in half to $600 from the $1200 of the original payments. While 14 Million Americans remain unemployed, does it make sense to give almost 190 Million Americans Stimulus Payments or should we be focusing on Unemployment Benefits? Plus, what can $600 even get you these days? Seems a little insulting...maybe we should demand more from our Representatives. But what do you expect in the Struggle State?

While everyone's situation is different, when so many Americans struggle to save for a rainy day, how can the majority of people even think about implementing a plan for retirement? The U.S. Economy as we knew it might be over. That would be a bold statement if it were only coming from our mouths. But when these words are uttered by the current Federal Reserve Chair, Jerome Powell, it sends shivers down the spine of anyone who participates in our economy. And that's essentially every citizen in the United States. And that's exactly what happened earlier this November when Powell was speaking at a panel discussion on Central Banking.
The COVID Shutdowns that swept the nation brought on advancements in technology and companies were quick to find new ways to innovate in ways that would usually takes years to formulate. All of this causes disruption to the market and low level jobs are sure to be some of the first casualties. But where will it end?

Did she or didn't she? Of course she did.
In late July 2016, Hillary Clinton, in an effort to divert attention from the email scandal that was haunting her presidential bid, directed her campaign to peddle a political narrative that Russia’s suspected hacking and leaking of Democratic Party emails was in furtherance of a conspiracy between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to swing the election to Trump.
Why does it matter now? Because the current Democratic Candidate Joe Biden wants your vote for President this November and the Obama Administration, where he served as Vice President during this time, made a calculated effort to shelter the Clinton Campaign from any wrong doing in an effort for the Democrats to remain in control of the White House.
FBI director James Comey held his infamous “exoneration” press conference, which illustrated that there was damning evidence of Clinton’s mishandling of classified information and destruction of government records, and of her promotion of a culture of national-security recklessness at the State Department; but, nevertheless, that the Obama administration would not charge her, even though her conduct violated the literal terms of the espionage statute.
Do we want more of the same back door deals and blatant disregard for the rules as we've seen in the past?

Many people with student loans aren't carrying the burden of their debt alone. The mountain of debt weighs down their families, too.
"Student loan repayment is really a family affair," says Fiona Greig, director of consumer research at the JPMorgan Chase Institute.
The number of people 60 and older with student loan debt has been increasing, with many of those loans taken out by parents and grandparents to help younger family members pay for college.
Now a new study by the JPMorgan Chase Institute says nearly 40% of student loan payers are helping someone else pay off their student loans. And 27% of these helpers hold no student loan debt themselves.
But it goes beyond Student Loan Debt. This practice applies to a younger generation looking to purchase their first home. 1 in 5 U.S. Homeowners received an average of $39,000 in assistance from parents for down payments on Real Estate. And in 2018 Family/Friends assisted in the purchase of $317 Billion worth of property.
While getting assistance like this seems ok on paper, its starting to delay the ability for an older generation to retire. And you have to wonder, will this younger generation be able to do the same for their kids? Or are we raising a generation that has clue how to manage their finances, keeping them deeper in what we call the Struggle State?

While everyone else was talking COVID and Civil Unrest, the U.S. Government was quietly laying the ground work for what will be known as your Government issued Digital Wallet. In an effort to stay competitive with Foreign Nations as well as the mysterious Cryptocurrency that is Bitcoin and Libra, your Social Security number would be tied to a Digital Wallet whether you want it to our not. Is this a way for the Government to gain more control over its citizens or a move to keep the U.S. Dollar as a player on a Global stage? And is it really that different than the digital banking system we already have?
In addition, Zack Hayes and new voice to Pure Speculation Mike Stabley will go down a rabbit hole of what happens if President Trump decides not to give up his seat after a closely contested election, voter fraud, and the divide that is currently affecting our nation. Cheers!

Self Control is one key aspect of getting out of the Struggle State. Is your mindset strong enough to delay the instant gratification in exchange for financial stability?
The ancient idea that what we desire isn’t necessarily what we enjoy has received support from modern neuroscience, which indicates that the two processes involve distinct circuits in the brain; dopamine, the so-called “pleasure chemical”, is probably better understood as a desire chemical, which can be triggered in huge quantities in the near-total absence of pleasure.

As most US states head in the wrong direction with coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has retracted key information about how the virus spreads.
The US is on the brink of 200,000 coronavirus deaths, with the number of new cases rising in 28 states, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
But do you trust the data? Information on the CDC's website vanish as fast as it pops up and the data doesn't always paint the full picture. There is much doubt as to whether things will shake up on the brink of a Presidential Election.

Is Gold part of your investment portfolio? If not, maybe it will be after listening to this episode of Pure Speculation. Once considered a fringe mode of asset collecting by preppers and speculators, Gold is having a moment. Surging past $2,000/oz in August, nearly 1 in 6 Americans have purchased Gold or some sort of precious metal in the last 3 months alone.
But is it really a solid investment strategy to avoid losing everything in an epic breakdown of society and the economy if you don't physically own your Gold? Will these prices continue to surge or has fear and panic created a Gold bubble? Your guess is as good as ours, but we're going to talk about it anyway.

Pure Speculation Host Zack Hayes joins the Podcast A Common Divide to discuss why Daycare facilities have been able to open but schools are pushing for online learning. As if the Coronavirus Chaos couldn't get any crazier...Now the Pentagon feels its a good time to confirm that programs have existed for decades to investigate UAPs (or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) and that videos circulating on the internet of military footage tracking such objects are in fact legitimate. With 2/3 of people believing their Government knows more about UFOs than they let out, it sounds like those concerns are being confirmed.
Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tweeted Monday that Americans "deserve to be informed" about UFO information following the Pentagon's official release of three Navy videos showing "unidentified aerial phenomena."
Why it matters: Reid devoted funding in 2007 to a $22 million program to investigate unidentified flying objects. The Pentagon confirmed its existence in 2017.
The big picture: The Navy videos were previously published by the New York Times, which interviewed the pilots involved in some of the incidents.
Why now? Should it be of any real concern to us? Would the confirmation of life on other planets beyond our solar system throw our society into chaos?

Some 25 million Americans are set to lose $600 a week each in federal unemployment benefits at the end of the month, one of the thorniest issues Congress faces when it returns to Washington this week to consider another coronavirus relief bill.
Many people view the payments as a lifeline, and analysts say the $15 billion a week in federal spending has provided vital support to an economy staggering from the effects of the pandemic. But critics say the money, paid on top of regular state jobless benefits, discourages some Americans from returning to work as businesses try to reopen, holding back the recovery.
Things are about to change for the worker, the economy, and consumer spending virtually overnight. Were you a spender or a saver of your stimulus benefits?

Its a simple question. Many people use the concept of luck to justify why some people fare better than others in life while others completely disregard the phenomenon all together. The economy is in free fall but Wall Street is thriving, and stocks of big private equity firms are soaring dramatically higher. That tells you who investors think is the real beneficiary of the federal government’s massive rescue efforts.
Ten weeks into the worst crisis in 90 years, the government’s effort to save the economy has been both a spectacular success and a catastrophic failure.
The clearest illustration of that came on Friday, when the government reported that 20.5 million people lost their jobs in April. It marked a period of unfathomable pain across the country not seen since the Great Depression. Also on Friday, the stock market rallied.
Hosts Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes breakdown this article from ProPublica.com in the only way they know how...by Purely Speculating on the impacts this will have on the future of our Economy. What does this really mean for our society and is history doomed to repeat itself?

You might feel blindsided by the coronavirus, butwarnings about a looming pandemic have been there for decades. Government briefings, science journals and even popular fiction projected the spread of a novel virus and the economic impacts it would bring, complete often with details about the specific challenges the U.S. is now facing.
It makes you wonder: What else are we missing? What other catastrophes are coming that we aren’t planning for, but that could disrupt our lives, homes, jobs or our broader society in the next few years or decades?
Hosts Zack Hayes and Phil Hayes breakdown Politico's Domestic Threat Assessment in this weeks episode of Pure Speculation.

WARNING: Truth Bombs Will Be Dropped!
You can't go anywhere without hearing the term The New Normal amid the confusion that is the COVID-19 Pandemic and the resulting Government Shutdown of the Economy. But do we want this way of life to be our New Normal? Its been over a month since our guest Dan Griffin sat down with Zack Hayes for the Preemo Podcast Interview and a lot has changed since then. So much so that we only thought it was right to bring him back for an update as reality starts to set in.
We discuss the implications of a month without income (except for that #ronamoney), which Federal Programs have been abused by undeserving corporations, and how the consumer can have an impact on economics as it relates to the local community in our #toosmalltofail campaign. Is this our New Normal? Maybe...but it doesn't have to be.
