Music Producers, while reading a book called The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins I came across a section that spoke powerfully on the topic validation. In it she speaks about how our need for others to co-sign or grant us permission to pursue our ideas is literally robbing the life out of our dreams. It's a passage that I wish I could send to every Producer that DM's me demanding me to listen to their music and validate they're on the right path. Most recently and closest to home, the heinous act of authority in Minneapolis captured on camera that took the life of George Floyd. Although this isn't a music related topic, I no longer can allow myself to create escapism content with this HEAVY on my heart and mind. I needed a second to sit with my thoughts on this one. I like a lot of people around the world have been in a haze since the Sunday that this tragedy occurred. I needed to reflect not just as a die hard Laker and Kobe fan, but as a human being. I don't know if I'm processing it all correctly, but that's the least of my concern at this moment. What's more important to me right now is to honor them all in a way that was with class. Speaking about my experience this past week was therapeutic and I hope it brings you light to an otherwise dark week for many of us. I debated on not releasing today's podcast due to the news we all received yesterday about Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and their friends that passed away in a tragic accident in California. But we recorded this podcast episode January 23rd on my 35th birthday and I felt like it could help those that are currently grieving and anxious about the future. In this episode we discussed everything from the joy of getting older, the power of dominating with kindness, and Timbaland and Wale sharing my video content that week. Music Producers, over the past few months I've been reading a lot about the power of FLOW STATE. For those that have never heard of FLOW it is often referred to as being in a ZONE. FLOW STATE finds us as Music Producers when we are so fully immersed in our beat making process that we lose track of time and the necessity to overthink the process. Scientist say that when we reach a FLOW a part of our brain called the Pre-Frontal Cortex (Responsible for emotions and overthinking) temporarily shuts down.
For a producer like myself that OVERTHINKS the process often, especially on live streams, this topic intrigues me, Especially when I learned that there's actually a way for us to get to this state on a regular basis. Well, not only did I achieve myself these past few weeks, but I believe that I have figured out a way you too can consistently tap into your Music Producer FLOW STATE.

The past few months I found myself falling deeper and deeper into state of uncertainty. The worst part was that I couldn't quite pinpoint what was driving me down into such a dark hole. In the midst of the dark period I made a commitment to giving myself the self care necessary to turn it all around. I wasn't making any music, but I started doing things like going for daily walks, going to the gym, journaling, and meditating.
However, it wouldn't be until I took a last minute trip to Atlanta for my Producergrind and Cymatics interviews that I was able to get back on track. In this podcast episode I discuss the details of my trip as well as what exactly happened that gave me back my LOVE for making beats again.
