An in depth review of the highly anticipated album from Silk Sonic “An Evening with Silk Sonic.” I know it took me long enough to get around to reviewing this album, but I assure you it is worth the wait. This episode of the pod was all business, no nonsense....... well I don’t wanna lie. Y’all might get some of my best vocals on this one 😂🤣. An in depth review of the new album from Thuy “I hope you see this.” I got all of your hopes up about the music we would get in November...... and we did get the music we were promised as well as this album that I wasn’t expecting but it was a pleasant surprise. Thuy is an up and comer looking to solidify her status in the R&B game. This album was a good start and a perfect project to accompany her history of singles released over the years. I also talked about the upcoming holidays, all things fantasy and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! An in depth review of the new album from JoJo “trying not to think about it.” JoJo back and showing consistency in her album releases. I would love to get something new from her every year. Her growth in the game is incredible and release after release she gains more R&B fans that saw her only as a Pop Star. That was bound to happen when you have a voice like hers. The album has some certified heaters, as well as a few interludes that I wish were longer 🙁 but that doesn’t stop her from getting off a grown and sexy vibe and providing anthems for various relationship situations. I also talked about Getting old, all things fantasy and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! Took the time to review “Butterflies” a song by D’Vo, an R&B/Neo Soul SoundCloud artist looking for his next step and feedback. Listen to his music @ n.e.r.d life by D’Vo on SoundCloud. An in depth review of Snoh Aalegra’s new album “Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.” Snoh came out of nowhere, well at least to me she did, but years in the game, a name change and motivation finally got her on the radar in 2019 and her buzz continued to grow in 2020 as we all had time to listen to new music when we were cooped up in our houses. An in depth review of the new Trey Songz album “Back Home.” Like many I knew this album was on the way but I was not expecting it to get here so quickly after the first Single was released, but in times like these there is no complaining from me. Trey is one of my favorite artists and with him being from VA like myself, that just increases my fandom. At first I thought that 22 tracks (Really only 20) was a bit much, but each track proved to be exactly what I needed in the moment. An in depth review of the new Bryson Tiller album “Anniversary.” I’ve been waiting on something from Mr. Tiller for quite some time. He is a quality artist with two solid albums before this one that I never really listened to. Most of my thoughts about him as an artist are based on his features with Rihanna/ DJ Khaled and H.E.R. An in depth review of the new Alicia Keys album “Alicia.” Alicia Keyes has got talent coming out of her ears. Quality singer, great piano player and pretty good song writer. Her first 3-5 albums were great and had a good mix of love, Party, and impactful music. Over the past two albums she’s went in a different direction. It seems like she is trying to give people therapy through music trying to get people to live their lives the right way and live their truth. I feel like she has slowly gone away from what worked for her so well earlier in her career. With that being said I’ve been out on Alicia for some time, but I wanted to see if she would bounce back and give the people what they want. After 25 years in the game and only three albums, we all wish we had more of his music to listen to, but sometimes we just have to take what we can get and make the most of it!! The second installment of my VA R&B Series is here is on deck!!! This time around we make our way to Petersburg, VA and explore the discography of Tremaine Neverson or as we know him, Trey Songz. 15 years in the game, eight albums and countless mixtapes where he is singing and providing a few bars here and there, Trey’s talent was ahead of its time and was the perfect contrast to Chris Brown as the Virginians debuted in the same year. No content is too mature and no lyric is off limits for such a versatile artist. Come with me on this journey where I discovered that I prefer Trey without features and recognized that he is more of a 1a or 1b that a 2 when it comes to the VA R&B Hierarchy! An in depth review of Brandy’s new album “B7.” Ms. Norwood has been away from the game for 8 years now. She did make some guest appearances a couple times but it was nothing to quench the appetite of her true fans. Well here it is, her new 15-track project (3 interludes). 8 years is a long time so I couldn’t just go into this giving her the benefit of the doubt like I have for so many artists before. Vocals are still there and probably always will be, but there are so many other elements to consider. An in depth review of Jhene Aiko’s deluxe version of her most recent album “Chilombo.” Ms. Aiko continues to stay consistent and provide us with three types of music: Relaxing Music, Party Music and Stroke Songs. The deluxe songs were quality and provided some bangers that I was very pleased to receive. The initial album was already strong but sometimes you don’t want to hold songs until your next album you just want to get those shots off. To accompany her smooth vocals and surprising bars were artists like H.E.R., Big Sean (of course), John Legend, Kehlani, Ty Dollar Sign and more. I hope you haven’t been sleeping on Jhene because if you were, wake up. Her talent isn’t going to blow your doors off but those windows will break LOL. An in depth review of Avant’s new album “Can We Fall In Love.” 20 years in the game and nine albums in, Avant is still as consistent as he ever was. An artist whose music sounds good on any day and sounds current in any year over the past 20, he hasn’t lost a step. He took this album into his own hands only having features from Robert Glasper to provide a quality instrumental for my favorite song on the album. An in depth review of Teyana Taylor’s new album “The Album.” Two years since her last release, KTSE, Teyana Taylor is back and better than ever with a 23 song effort that shows that she was really putting in work during her hiatus. Her voice is still as cold as ever and the roster of features on this album is filled with stars. Additionally, we were blessed with some quality samples that brought a smile to my face!!! I gave this album the Over 20 treatment and just reviewed my 10 favorite tracks on the album. I also talked about Panda Express, work, King of the Hill and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of John Legend’s new album “Bigger Love.” I swear this guy can do no wrong!! Since arriving on the R&B scene in the early 2000s Mr. Stephens has blessed us with hit album after hit album and there are no signs that he will be slowing down. This album continues to solidify him as what his name says a LEGEND. No longer tied to his piano, as he was earlier in his career, John is a real deal superstar whose vocal talents are unmatched. Paired with perfect production and quality features by Rapsody, Jhene Aiko and more, John Legend’s Star just keeps on rising! I also talked about mandatory masks, back to working full time, Queen of the South and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! Requests are always welcome. Follow me on twitter @alop3cia_brown. Email Blk.lex9311@gmail.com.

SEASON THREE PREMIERE!!!! An in depth review of Eric Bellinger’s new album “Hors D’oeuvres.” Its been over a year since I reviewed EB’s “The Rebirth 2” which was a 32-song compilation of everything he had to offer. It was quality music with great features. There were various albums and Collaborations since then, but now we are back. The new project is a 9-song album that has a little bit of a twist to it but honestly this is genius and you will see why once you hear the album and the podcast, of course. I also talked about my new fitness plan, my review of WingStop, Queen of the South and other random stuff (business as usual). Well I’ll be gotdamned it’s the podcast’s 2-year anniversary so I decided to review an album that helped spark my love of R&B so here is an in depth review of Usher’s third album and classic before a classic “8701.” Usher was already 2 albums into his career when this album was released. “8701” solidified his star and put him at the top of the R&B game allowed his star to continue to rise on the pop charts. With limited features, a powerful voice, quality production and strategic releases this album was on heavy rotation for over a year for me. Come with me on a new journey while I Review the album as I listen to it at the same time. I also talked about how the pod started, Inspirations and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of Ro James’ new album “MANTIC.” Back on my R&B Review shit after providing News and Nonsense and a review of the Official Rapper of the podcast Deante’ Hitchcock. This week Ro James provides the Content for the pod. There are some wild sounds coming from this album but Ro still keeps the sound of R&B strong. With appearances by Masego, Brandy and Miguel (i wish there was more of them), Ro provides a solid product that is definitely worth a listen. I also talked online classes, Lance, Star Wars and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! An in depth review of Deante’ Hitchcock’s new album “BETTER.” Sure this is an R&B podcast, but Deante Hitchcock is the official rapper of the pod so as soon as I saw that he was releasing an new album and I knew I had reviewed him before I know I had to see what his new album was hitting for. The easy way to say this is BARS, my guy was spitting from the moment the beat dropped and never disappointed when it came to punch lines. Additionally, when that mainstream money starts flowing those good features start turning up on the album so JID, 6LACK, Miguel and more made appearance to make the album even BETTER. Come for BARS stay for the lessons. I also talked home schooling, online classes, Memorial Day and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of Kehlani’s most recent album “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.” The SweetSexySavage is back after just over a year since her last release and she hasn’t lost a step. We all know she would bring the vocals but this time around she brought some bars and plenty of friends (Masego, Lucky Daye, Jhene Aiko and more) to keep the vibe going. 4 albums into a fantastic career, Kehlani keeps going strong and her talent continues to grow. Enjoy the podcast and Enjoy the album. I also talked online classes, The Last Dance, Insanity and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of JoJo’s most recent album “Good To Know.” Little do many of you know Ms. Joanna Levesque has been in the game for 16 years and she isn’t even 30 yet. She left her footprint on the early 2000s and then had to take a hiatus due to label disputes but, she came back better. Stronger voice, better runs, more mature content and sexier than ever. I guess you can say it all worked out. Since her time away she has released two albums (Including this one) and shows no signs of stopping. THE ONLY WAY IS UP! I also talked online classes, The Last Dance, Mother’s Day and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! An in depth review of Sinead Harnett’s debut album “Lessons in Love (The Acoustic Version)” I remember falling In love with her voice early last year but only having EPs to listen to kinda like the whole Ella Mai situation. Well last year she dropped her debut album and a couple weeks ago she took 7 tracks from it and released the acoustically. I have one word for whoever decided this “GENIUS!” Her voice is amazing and simplifying the production my only including a guitar or a piano only enhances the experience. 7 tracks wasn’t enough for me but I’m hoping these tracks put her in the spotlight. I also talked about the what Jack Ryan, Insanity, The Last Dance and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! An in depth review of Justin Bieber’s new album “Changes.” Over the years we have watched this young man grow up and you can definitely hear it in his music. Justin has made the transition from a pure pop star to an artist who can dabble in damn every genre. This album displays him bearing his soul in many songs and showing appreciation for others in others. The talent will always be there but the growth is undeniable. After only sitting in the house and going to work for weeks you get tired of doing, watching and hearing the same things. Well I finally sat down looked at my collection of music and made my own playlist for the crazy time that we are experiencing. Strictly R&B music. An in depth review of The Free Nationals’ self -titled, debut album. The and that has flawlessly played in the background of multiple Anderson Paak albums is now out on there own and providing the R&B universe with quality music. Although they aren’t by themselves, with features from of course Mr. Paak, Daniel Caesar, T.I., JID, and many others, they are still the stars of this show. As you listen remember that the artists are the ones in the background on this album focus on the sound and you will be blown away. But the music is back. A group of young fellas with some serious harmonies and quality voices delivered a 6 song EP that doesn’t disappoint. It was around October when this came out so I’m not sure if w’ll hear from them again, but I hope so. Well here is my first podcast that I’ve ever recorded in the United States. It was good to be amongst family for this one and it was good to be back after taking two weeks off to ensure my transition from Bahrain to the States went well and to give the family back in VA a little time so we could all catch up. This seemed like the perfect time to come back especially regarding where we visited and where the podcast was recorded. I think the block has finally cooled down from Robert Kelly’s most recent “incident,” but when it comes to Kells nothing ever really cools down. I just couldn’t hold this back any longer though. When the world was abuzz debating who the King of R&B is/was, Kells couldn’t really be placed in the running because of “legal troubles” at the same time. We all knew that the Pied Piper was the rightful winner but couldn’t say so. This podcast should’ve already taken place. Well here it is!!! My Top 10 R. Kelly Songs!! Not Yours, Not Some Magazines, Not Some Websites, it’s MY TOP 10, so if you have problems with it then come up with your own!!! LOL. In addition to the Top 10 there is loads of nonsense, as usual. An in depth review of Lyfe Jennings’ newest album “777.” After taking 4 years off, one of my favorite voices is back. Never mind the last few albums that weren’t that great, I completely live in the past and every time he releases a project I hope that he will go back to his old ways and record albums in the same manner as he did his first one “Lyfe 268-192.” Was he able to capture that magic once again or did he disappoint and leave me to live in the past. An in depth review of PJ Morton’s newest album “Paul.” Here we go again!!! I seem to be making a habit of finding artists that have been around a while that I have never listened to but that is a good thing right? It puts me in a position to give an unbiased take on an established artist. When it comes to PJ Morton, this listen was definitely a pleasure. This veteran on R&B provided both cookout and bedroom songs, showed range in lyrics and subjects and also held his own in ear pleasing duets with impressive vocalists. It was a pleasure reviewing the album, so hear what I had to say about each track. Talked about late night work calls, Kindergarten, Mommy/Daddy Day and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of BJ the Chicago Kid’s new album “1123.” After hearing a son here and there from BJ, I never really took the time to explore his whole catalog or listen to an entire album from him. So when I saw his new project was released last weekend I realized there was no time like the present. BJTCK is an artist that is loaded with talent. Singer, Rapper, in the front or the background, he has what it takes to be a star and from the looks of his features (Anderson. Paak, Rick Ross, Offset and more) the game sees his potential too. The album has ballads, pop tracks, trap tracks, basically a little bit of everything for everybody. I really had to open my mind on this one and see exactly what I was dealing with. The talent was there but was the content good?? You will have to listen to the podcast to find out!! Still providing us with quality poetry and a soothing voice over great instrumentals (even one from Pharrell), Daniel Caesar is going to be at this for a long time. An in depth review of Chris Brown’s newest album “Indigo.” Chris Brown continues to make VA proud. Sure he has his controversial moments, but he is only human. Always a versatile artist, Chris continues to provide albums with 4-5 different vibes to keep his listeners guessing. This album is 32 tracks so I only touched on my top 10, but that doesn’t mean the other 22 tracks aren’t good. After a couple singles and an EP 2007 he has finally released his debut album. A project full new sounds and energy only held by artists trying to make a name in the R&B game. An in depth review of Lizzo’s new album “Cuz I Love You.” Funny, talented, quirky and sexy, Lizzo takes us on a trip you can’t help but enjoy. An up beat album that showcased both her soulful diva and wordsmith rapper side. 11 tracks with minimal features, except for a banger with Missy Elliott and a Gucci Mane bomb, she was on full display for my ears to take her all the way in. I’m hoping “Juice” and the rest of this album will put her on the map and allow others to enjoy her unique style. Talked about my upcoming vacation, my Social Media plans until I see “Endgame”, in-line class news, and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! Requests are always welcome. Follow me on twitter @bluntcuzicar365. Email Blk.lex9311@gmail.com.

An in depth review of the throw back soul group Durand Jones and the Indications new album “American Love Call.” For the past 3 weeks I have been enamored with the music that I’ve heard from this group. From the angelic falsetto of Aaron Frazer, the harmonies of the band and the powerful vocals of Mr. Jones this group has taken me back in a time machine to a simpler time where Love and Life were the only things on the musical menu. Each song is better than the last and honestly I didn’t want this album to end, but all good things do. I talked about the next couple weeks, back to being sick but not dying and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! An in depth review of Dawn Richard’s most recent project “New Breed.” Richard, of Danity Kane fame, has been pumping out quality R&B for some time, with and without Diddy. This album is no exception. Songs about the struggle in the music game, sex and fighting the system. Her unique way of making R&B sound futuristic makes her a candidate to take this R&B game by storm. This week I did a deep dive in to the realm of Blue Eyed Soul. My fair skin brothers and sister have a little soul in side of them that they just need to tap into every once in a while. All of the songs sung by the artists on this week’s podcast were able to reach that level in the studio and find a vibe that led them to hold a special place in my heart. as well as my ears. I forget how many songs I actually covered but I had a blast researching and listening to my white brothers and sisters sing their asses off. An in depth review of Ann Marie’s new project “Tripolar 2.” Her 4th album in 2 years, Ann Marie has really been pumping out the music since 2017. There were some bright spots and a few dark corners but I can see that the talent is there. A true diamond in the rough (emphasis on rough), she may need a little more pressure to meet diamond status, but the potential is there. Enjoy the songs that you can. EPISODE 30!!!!! Took another musical journey through the last few decades and provided a list of R&B songs featured on Movie Soundtracks. Not a review because the industry is in a lull due to the holiday but I think they will bounce back strong in the coming weeks. It wasn’t easy but I feel like I did justice to this list. There may be a few songs I left out but I didn’t want to give you guys a 3 hour podcast LOL. Separated by Decade there is no other rhyme or reason to the pod just me choosing some of my favorite R&B songs from movies. An in depth review of The-Dream’s new project “Ménage a Trois.” The Radiokilla put together a 40-Track menu for all of his fans that will keep them swimming in bedroom tracks for some time. That’s what this is, Mr. Nash has provided the masses with a soundtrack for the bedroom and there is nothing wrong with that. It was refreshing to hear his voice again and see him doing his thing like he used to, not trying to change for these times. There was no way I would be able to give you guys 40 songs worth of reviews but what I was able to do is choose the strongest 10 songs (in my opinion) and break them down in a way that only I can. If you didn’t know NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo is also an R&B singer and if that surprises you, finding out that this is his second album will leave you on the floor. A quick (well not as quick as I thought it would be) review of Nao’s second full length album “Saturn.” After a long week, I didn’t know if I had it in me to complete a pod this week but you know what, your boy powered through and with a little help from @meggsnhines Request, I buckled down and was able to provide you all with some heat for the weekend. With a voice like no other artist I’ve heard before, Nao provides a solid 13 track album that covers the gambit of sounds and concepts. Able to carry a song on her own and share the mic for duets, she showcased that her voice may be meek but it’s powerful as well. An in depth review of Jeremih and Ty $’s collaboration album “Mih-Ty.” I bit the bullet this week for you guys. My love of Ty $’s music led me to this album but I had to endure listening to Jeremih at the same time so it was a tough week LOL. These two came together to make a decent album to hold their fans over until solo albums from either of them are released. There were quality samples, catchy choruses and ok lyrics, but it was entertaining nonetheless. An in depth review of H.E.R.’s extension to her earlier work “I Used To Know Her: Part 2.” This was a quick one!! WITH A LITTLE MORE FEELING!!! This time around H.E.R. Dug down deep and pulled up all of her inner feelings on the EP. A lot slower than the previous rendition and acoustic instrumentals for days, she found a way to make me think of past relationships, how I feel about myself and why things happen the way they do in life. To top it off she gave us a sermon that I won’t soon forget. This week’s Bonus Takes dives into Pink Sweat$ New EP, I get further into my feelings and other random stuff (business as usual). An in depth review of Raheem Devaughn’s new Album "Decade of a Love King.” Well guys I bared my soul on this one. With his 6th album, Radio Raheem continued to dominate the babymaking music game. Over the past few months there have been multiple mentions of his music on this podcast because he is one of my favorite artists and I’m happy that, now that his new album is on the streets, I can express to you all why he is my go to for all music about Love. An in depth review of Usher’s new Trap&B album with Zaytoven "A" and Khalid’s new EP “SunCity.” Did a double feature this week since there were two relatively short albums that I wanted to review. Usher is back on the scene and giving Trap Music his own R&B spin as only he can do. He enlists the help of a few rappers to help the album along one of which being Future. See how I feel about the 8-Track effort. Khalid in his most emotional state provides us with an EP that left me all the way in my feelings. This guys voice and lyrics always puts me in a place where I ponder the meaning of life. See if this EP left me in the same state of mind. An in depth review of Ella Mai’s self-titled, debut album "Ella Mai." Well the big day is here, after two years and some change of EPs and singles we finally got an album from Ella Mai. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the album was being released so soon after “Trip” was released as a single. We just needed more from her and the R&B Gods answered our prayers. This album showcased her ability to be an R&B chameleon, able to work her magic on any type of track making it an instant hit or catchy. Don’t take my word for it!!!!! An in depth review of Mario’s new album "Dancing Shadows." After a 9-Year absence from the game Mario is back to try his hand in a new era of R&B. A lot has changed in between now and then, but he is back to try his hand at the game he was close to the top of prior to his absence. After 3 strong albums to begin his career, his 2009 release “D.N.A.” Fell short of the mark in my opinion. Some may say that the album prior to that (“Go”) wasn’t great but it contained more R&B tracks than “D.N.A.” Since then he has been under the radar and didn’t release any music until “Dancing Shadows.” The good News is that he is still Mario, capable of holding a tune and singing his heart out with his powerful voice. As for the bad news.........well you will have to listen to the podcast and the album to see how I feel about his latest project. An in depth review of Marsha Ambrosius' new album "Nyla." The third album in her solo catalog, Marsh started out a little rocky but by the time she hit track 4 all was right in the world. The vocals are still there and she still sounds as sexy as ever. Tapping into her feelings in a completely different way, she leaves it all on wax covering relationships and love on all levels. An in depth review of Jagged Edge's debut album "Jagged Era." Released in 1997, this was JD's attempt at having a successful male R&B Group and honestly it was a hit or miss album but more hits than misses. This album was a great opportunity for the group to get their feet wet and a much needed stepping stone before really cementing their status with "J.E. Heartbreak." Taking all direction from Jermaine Dupri, there were numerous Hip Hop influences throughout the album, some good and some not so good but they made it work and the little talent that they have (The Twins) shined through. An in depth review of Mac Ayres' new album "Something to Feel." From a random artist i heard once in a dentist office to one of my favorite singers, Mac is a real soulful dude. Holding it down for the "Blue-Eyed Soul" his falsetto is effortless and his comfort on the mic and in the studio has delivered a project deeper and more advanced than his first album "Drive Slow." He also provided some instrumentation on this one showing he is more than just a voice. An in depth review of Deante' Hitchcock's 2017 EP "So Much For Good Luck". After weeks of putting it off, i was finally able to get around to reviewing this gem. Not the usual genre i cover, but there were some R&B elements to this cat. Melodies, samples and substance carried this EP to the end and i wasn't disappointed with the effort. Lyrically Deante' can hold his own and with the caliber of production on these 6 tracks i feel like this guy is destined for stardom. Shout out to @blkphantom for putting me on. An artist who has been in the game for around four years releasing independent projects and featuring as the voice on many southern rap songs over the past few years. He is finally getting a mainstream project with proper marketing. Released eariler this summer, it was requested by Josh Dantzler @blacktopsmatter. Jacquees surprised me in more ways than one. Talked a little about R&B bands in a little preview of next weeks episode and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). Requests are always welcome. Follow me on twitter @bluntcuzicar365.

An in depth review of Ella Mai's three, yes three EPs, 2016's "Time" and "Change" and 2017's "Ready." After the Rise of "Boo'd Up" that i covered in Episode 1, the song has continued to rise especially with the various Remixes that have been released, it was requested by @BlkPhantom that i review Ella Mai's other work. Her talent far exceeds one hit wonder status so get out there and listen to her other music. Talked a little about music that tells a story "Trapped In The Closet" to be specific and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). Requests are always welcome. Follow me on twitter @bluntcuzicar365.
