1 ~ The Spirit as Encourager Comforts the Believers (John 15:18-16:4) When we see the word “world” in the New Testament, if often means humanity or society apart from God and opposed to God. (1 John 2:15-17; Rom. 12:1-2). Why does the world system, including the "religious world," hate the Christian? 1 - We are identified with Christ (vv. 18, 20). 2 - We do not belong to the world (v. 19). 3 - The world is spiritually ignorant and blind (v. 21). 4 - The world will not be honest about its own sin (vv. 22-24; 16:1-11).
How does the Holy Spirit encourage believers when they are experiencing the hatred and opposition of the world? He comforts us with His Presence, and that most often through the Word of God.

The world hates believers because it hates Jesus Christ Hatred or love for Jesus Christ is what either divides or unites people. A. The world hates believers because we’re different than they are. 1) We have a different calling: Christ chose us out of this evil world. 2) We have a different Master: Jesus is our Lord, while the world serves Satan. 3) We have different knowledge: we know the Father but the world does not. B. The world hates us because Jesus exposes their sin. C. If the world thinks that you’re wonderful, you may need to question whether you’re being a bold enough witness for Christ. D. The world’s hatred for Christ and for believers does not hinder God’s sovereignty, but rather fulfills it.

Acts 16:25-40 - Because of our sin, we are separated from God. The penalty for our sin is death. The penalty was paid by Jesus Christ. If we repent of of our sins, the confess and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we will be saved from our sins. Can you be sure that if you as Christ to save you, He will? Yes. He has done it. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.
