Context matter when we read the bible- if we don’t know the background we can easily misinterpret the bible. Sadly, we Christians have made this mistake way too many times. We all have. The cool thing is, Sunday we learned the context of the most popular passage in Proverbs- Proverbs 3:5-8. And the context of this passage reveals how much God cares about us. He does. Listen to hear more.
It is OK- it is OK to feel. By all means, give yourself permission to feel. We live in a topsy turvy world and many of us are feeling emotions in a way that we’ve never felt before. So go ahead- process your emotions. God wants to connect your feelings with your faith in Jesus- listen to the sermon from Sunday to learn more.
The right way to fast is to connect fasting with mission. Yep, God ties fasting with mission- His mission of justice. As a church, we are practicing fasting. Last week, many of us heard God speak while we abstained from food, technology, shopping and alcohol. And much of what we heard from God is to go- to go where He’s sending us next.
We are doing it. We are fasting for 3 days to listen to God and to others. This is critically important because we are facing 2 crises right now, and we desperately need to hear God's voice. And so, we’re following Esther’s lead in this- she responded to a major crisis with fasting. Let's do the same.

Seth McLaughlin came to TMC to kickoff our series on the Holy Spirit and spoke about how God uses the Holy Spirit to use ordinary people to do extraordinary achievements.
On Sunday, Tryg Veeker visited us from Ohio to talk about how we can "Get right with God". The best news of it all? It's incredibly simple.
Ken wrapped up our sermon series on 1 and 2 Peter by talking about time and God's promises. Our next series is on the Holy Spirit!

Ken teaches us about poetry in the Bible and how we have to love first, especially before going on mission. He also talks about the spirit of perfection in Grand Rapids and how that isn't what we're called to be. We're human and not meant to be perfect.
