It's easy to critique something if you have no idea what goes into the process. As a filmmaker, I approach film reviews and film news with respect for the process and my show features thoughts from journalists who aren't just looking for controversy. The Double J Filmcast gives you an in-depth look at what's going on in the film industry, including news, release dates, and film technology, answering questions that you might not have thought you needed to know.
Avatar 2 has begun filming, and with a December 2018 release, Sam Worthington has given an update on what the film will be about. On this episode, Josh is joined by Gerald Glassford of the Pop Culture Cosmos Show to discuss Avatar, the BioSchock film that never was, the lack of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the new Predator film and if the world is in need of a new Robin Hood film. Josh discusses Logan's success with critics during early screenings. Gerald talks about box office numbers this weekend. The title of the new Star Wars film has been announced, and the Internet is alight with speculation as to what it might mean! On this episode Josh and Justin weigh in on the debate. Then we take a look at the new Justice League photos and how they don't really say anything about the film. Josh reads David Ayer's letter to Suicide Squad fans. Justin talks about the obvious announcement that Logan will be rated R. Then we give you an in depth look at the Alien franchise and take guesses at where Neil Blomkamp's version of the films might have gone . . . or still will. Spider-Man Homecoming is swinging into theaters in just a few months, and Sony is looking to milk the franchise for all it's worth, while taking aim at a more diverse audience for their animated film. On this episode we discuss Sony's planned animated version of Spider-Man and their plans to bring Miles Morales to the big screen instead of Peter Parker. Guillermo Del Toro is teasing us again with hope of Hellboy III, which didn't work out. We'll discuss whether or not people want a third outing in the franchise and if it's worth it from a studio perspective.
