In this episode, we replay our National Apprenticeship Week 2021 (#NAW2021) interview with an alumni apprentice. neaco Higher Education & Apprenticeship Champion Rio talks to Luke Bendall.
Luke works as a Business Analyst helping deliver change in relation to processes and technology within Direct Line Group. Prior to becoming a Business Analyst, Luke completed a Level 3 Certificate in Providing Financial Services & a Level 3 Diploma in providing Customer Service, both of which were completed under the same apprenticeship. Luke then completed a higher apprenticeship as a Business Analyst, a Level 4 IS Business Analyst Diploma.

Our Higher Education Champion Naomi Miller interviewed Jenna remotely during June 2020 and the ten ‘myths’ that she put to her were:
- Higher and Degree Apprenticeships are a way to work and get a qualification.
- All apprenticeships are the same level.
- Applying for an apprenticeship is like applying for university.
- Apprenticeships are for people who didn’t do well at school.
- Is it a real job or will I just be making coffees?
- If I am doing an apprenticeship then I won’t be paid a decent wage.
- I won’t be classed as a university student if I do a higher level apprenticeship.
- Higher and Degree apprenticeships are for those over 18.
- As long as I get good grades then I won’t need to worry about work experience.
- Getting an apprenticeship means that I can stay close to home.
