of your brackets for the Tonehammer Silent kit. We had feedback from very few customers which are not happy with the color of the brackets we have shipped. We took the hint and now offer you a distinct color choice. While we still may choose a different specific color to produce the brackets with – [...]
We, (the AI and us) have worked long hours to build a dark themed and good looking new website for our customers. While not everything is looking perfect we believe that this the new start we wanted. We are still reworking the 100+ DIY and project pages for you to look good. It just takes [...]
for some time now we have resumed shipping to the United States again and we make it official now. You can order from the US again but to be honest – there is a massive price tag to it. The minimum shipping fee is EUR 32,- plus the addendum of appx 20% to cater for [...]
First off, we wish our customers a Happy New Year!As of 01.01.2026 there are a few changes: TH custom effects is now owned by Blackout Electric Limited of Ireland. Not much will change, its just a legal thing. We have removed PayPal from our payment options due to the lack of service and the non-working fraud [...]
Important information ! Do to the the US government move “Suspending Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment For All Countries” we are currently no longer able to ship to the US. This is not us personally. All shipping carriers have suspended shipment to the US. Therefore the US has been temporarily removed from the countries we can [...]
With customer requests for the AG 700 and the v2 models comming in, we looked into it and made kits available for those models as well. => Take me to the shop page! We did not see a TH 700 v2 personally but If you have one and want it silenced, contact us and we [...]
There have been a few of these questions during the last months. So here is what you can do if you want to use a NoPe switch at the control outputs of an ES-8 or superswich or whatever unit is out there that hav 5V control signals to be programmed. Also if your control unit does [...]
Due to the high demand from our customers we are currently working on a ready-to-use module to be used in any pedal either replacing an existing 3PDT switch or for your next new build. We are currently testing the latest prototype and when feedback is good we will immediately make it available to everyone. Its [...]
When a client approached me to silence his Tonehammer amp I took on the task. Here is the short story what we did. There are two cheap fans 50x50x10mm used in the stock amp. Although they are not super noisy but due to their size and rpm needed they make an annoying pitched noise. This [...]
This is the story of how this handy tool came into existence. Once upon a time there was a pedal builder soldering effect circuit after effect circuit. Most of the builds were running out of the box – soldering finished, guitar to in – amp to out – there was noise! But occassionaly there were [...]
Its here. Unbelievable but after 4 years in the drawer with no time to bring it forward finally it is here!
It started as an improved version of the EPIC Looper and due to serious time restictions it could not be brought to an end 4 years ago. Recently things changed and we revisited the project and found it still an unmatched and high-end DIY project for every experienced builder. It took two month to build [...]
Since we have already built the audio switching part in the first chapter, we now do the microcontroller. In the beginning of the project there were several options on the display that can be used but due to the restricted time at hand the version with the OLED display most complete. They come in 1.3″ [...]
The effect control unit has been reviewed and got a software upgrade (V1.4). Whats new? The mute feature now works even better than before eliminating nasty switch-popp noise. A new feature has been added: Switch#6 (unused before) now can toggle a full unit mute. When the switch is pressed the unit gets totally silent until [...]
We have been working hard rework the website to bring it to current website standards usable on mobile devices as well as on big screens. Information is more structured available now and – it looks better 🙂 If you find something not working or looking wierd please drop us a note to thc@ thcustom.com. We [...]
As of Jan 1st 2019 Deutsche Post – along with a lot of other carriers internationally – does not allow to ship goods in letters anymore. A new product has to be used which is a minimum of EUR 3.20 / 3.80 for shipping. Sorry for this but there is no workaround.
Finally Merlins Glassbower has been given a new PCB without VU-meter – which was making way too much noise when switching the LEDs despite the chip beeing a low noise version. Its version 1.5 now. If you want to build a boost 27dB without OpAmps check it out here: Merlins Glassblower V1.5 PCB The ROG Umble [...]
The long time of silence at least has been interrupted. Here we are presentiing new stuff: The Kittenqueen – based on the Katzenkönig The long announced 3-band parametric EQ in the full control version.
Read some interesting news about the Modular Looper project. There is a new 3-band parametric eq for you to build. Its intended as a tone control to be built into an effect. There will be a standalone version as well.
I’ve been busy building prototypes, creating build instructions, sourcing parts and programming throughout the last weeks. Now i want you to see how a sandwich is done: How to make a sandwich This is not as funny as it sounds because its a major step to success. If you do something wrong it just [...]
Read some interesting things about graphic and parametric equalizers in the new knowledgebase-article. Also there is a new DIY report on the same topic Equalizers.
New kid on the block: Merlins Small Time Delay (with tails). This is a nice delay circuit with tails – meaning that even if you switch it off the signal trails out (repeats) and newly played notes dont have the effect.
In the music environment nothing can be done without EQs! This starts with simple tone control and ends in the endeavour to simulate complex loudspeaker cabinets. 5-band graphic eq This one is using a special chip to reduce parts count and therefore space. It could also be done using OpAmps but I [...]
Graphic EQs Graphic EQs are named so because of the fact that every frequency band is represented by a linear potentiometer and they are aligned next to each other. Looking at all sliders at once you see how the frequency attenuation and amplification looks like over the whole band. 5 band Graphic EQ Parametric [...]
Huge restock in boards. Lets call it the white flood 🙂 3PDT boards have been reduced: 1590B 1590A Also there is an update on the modular controller: PControl Modular Part #5
As said last time I’ve done new layouts for almost all PCBs because of the need to use a different processor. Also I did a lot of thinking about how the boards will be connected to switches, relays etc. A new connector and a distribution board has come out of this idea. New PCBs ! [...]
Full Redesign As stated in the last post I started redesigning all boards to archieve the following: Able to use a microcontroller with more memory. They come in a larger package, so I had additional pins for: Rotary switch for editing system parameters the easy way Additional I/O which I might use for adding an [...]
Some great news today: Almost everything in the shop has been restocked! And here you can see what I’ve mostly done during the last 3 months: Modular Looper Part#3
Its been a long time since the last post but I’ve been working on it again in the last 3 months. Everything is tested but the MIDI part and everything works fine so far. Here is the current 20-loop prototype (backside): From top to down and left to right: OLED Display 128x64px Power distribution PCB [...]
About the circuit Jon Patton is a great engineer in building guitar effects. He developed a good number of circuits that are well known in the DIY community. What Jon sais about this circuit: This was a fun challenge, and it came together pretty quickly once we identified what would work well with his amp [...]
New stuff: The Optotronics switch and Merlins Glassblower Boost. 27dB in the box. Big restock came in, so Effect Control and EPIC looper are back together with a lot of other boards. Check out our clearing discounts. Some boards have huge syvings!
Effect Control V1.2 has been released. Packed with nice features to help you build your multi-effect or a standalone switcher for your pedalboard. The 5-band EQ has been given an improved layout to have a little more space around the connection pads and some other small improvements. And its red now 🙂
We will move to a new server on Thursday, Oct 2nd 2015. Service may be interrupted for a few minutes. We will be back a lot faster than now 🙂
