True Christianity is not just about having the image of God but  reflecting the glory of Christ. We do this through a personal  relationship with Jesus. In today’s world, having empathy without  agreeing with secular solutions first starts with this, “Loving others  first depends on loving God.”

Today we celebrate with many of our members as they have completed the 12 step program in Celebrate Recovery. For the past year these individuals have been working on hurts, habits, and hang ups while strengthening their relationship with Jesus Christ. Many people recognize the serenity prayer, but few actually know the whole prayer. Celebrate Recovery can be summed up within the words of the Serenity Prayer.

Prayer:

God, grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change,

And the courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time,

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;

Taking, as Jesus did,

This sinful world as it is,

Not as I would have it;

Trusting that You will make all things right

If I surrender to your will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life

And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Amen

In this episode, Pastor Green meets with three mothers who are members of The Anchor of Beaumont. The three have different personalities and parenting styles but the mental, emotional, and spiritual struggles of motherhood are the same.

Morgan has four children ages 19, 16, 3, and 1. The oldest is off to college out-of-state which stresses Morgan out. She speaks about the struggles of overcoming how she was parented and how the book Grace Based Parenting has changed her parenting style.

Megan is a mother of two ages 10 and 6. Megan struggles with comparing herself to the picturesque role of the wife in the 1950's. She has spent many hours in prayer and improving herself to be the best mother that she can be while accepting failure is a part of parenting.

Kassandra has two children ages 4 and 2 with one on the way. Kassandra shares the burden of having to parent a child with autism and a child who is not autistic. Kassandra is new to the parenting game but is quickly finding out that there is so much to learn.

These women have engaged in small groups for mothers and parents who constantly look to improve themselves as well as internalize biblical principles in parenting.
