For the past five years, Pastor Alex has had a monthly lunch meeting with a few guys to talk about social, racial, and societal issues. We have had black, white, and Latinos men all coming together to share our perspectives, ask questions, and listen to each other. This lunch started after the George Floyd incident in May of 2020 when my friend Hector connected me with Lieutenant Dave Meyer to gain perspective from all sides of that issue. From there, we kept meeting to talk about other issues and events like Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Jacob Blake, Tyreek Hill, etc. We discussed all the issues you discussed on social media. Now, we are finally ready to share our conversations with the world. We will do this in a 10-week series of podcasts and then plan on releasing the book next year. “Lunch to Save the World” tells the story of how people from all different walks of life come together to civilly discuss what’s going on in our world!

Life is tough, it’s hard, it’s unfair - that’s the truth. So what!! Win anyway. Don’t fall for the lie that since life is unfair, there’s no need to even try to succeed. There is some truth to the fact that life isn’t fair and that some people are born with an advantage. However, you can succeed if you are willing to work hard, get educated, make sacrifices, and make good decisions. Reject the notion of learned helplessness. Learned helplessness is a psychological state where someone feels powerless to change their situation after repeated exposure to uncontrollable events, leading to a lack of motivation and an inability to take action even when change is possible. Nah Bruh!

Our son Mason has been on his cancer journey for over 2.5 years. It’s been a lot of time in the hospital, getting prodded and poked and putting poison into his body. Last Tuesday, Missourians narrowly voted to allow abortion to be legal in our state. This is very disappointing. I'd hoped that the fine people of Missouri would be the first state to say NO to codifying abortion in their state constitution. In this episode of the podcast I examine which areas of our state were the primary ones to vote Yes to this terrible amendment. The results may or may not shock you. Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was arrested for speeding last Sunday before the game. The situation escalated rather quickly and ended up with Tyreek being pulled from his car and facedown on the ground in handcuffs. Then, social media erupted. Girls, women, females, people with XX chromosomes should ONLY compete against other people who are the same as them! This most recent example of two non-biological females winning gold medals in women’s boxing should never be allowed. That’s just not right!

We all watched the blatant blasphemy during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. In spite of what some are trying to say, it was absolutely offensive to Christians. Social media was buzzing with people wanting to weigh in on it. One of the best responses came from Dr. Darryl Wootton, pastor and leader in Oklahoma. His response has been shared almost ten thousand times on Facebook. I wanted to have a conversation with him about his strong, yet gracious response. Growing up, my dad was meticulous about the way he wanted our lawn mowed each week. He taught me what to do and then he kept a close eye on me while I completed the task. My dad taught me early in life that if you don’t have time to do something right the first time, you won’t have time to do it over. He inspected what he expected. If my dad did this with something as fleeting as mowing the lawn, how much more important do you think it is for us to do this with the way we live our lives. The book of Ephesians encourages us to live as children of the light. That’s not something we do once and are done. We have to make “right living” a lifestyle. It requires us inviting God to INSPECT us, as well as us taking the time to INSPECT ourselves.

Parents and teachers are not supposed to be at odds with each other, but sometimes it feels like this is just the way it is doesn’t it? I was a little disturbed when listening to a speech delivered by Becky Pringle, the President of the National Education Association. She delivered this speech at the 2024 National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly where she called for widespread changes to make the system more equal for all students. This seems amenable at first, but after listening to the speech, I realized they are putting way too much emphasis on the race and sexual orientation of our children. She made this decision after being told by her psychiatrist that her condition will never improve. She doesn’t have hope that she will ever live a normal life and so she is planning to have doctors administer a lethal drug that will stop her heart and end her life. This is extremely sad! The DEA (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration) seized the greatest amount of fentanyl in agency history in 2023. They seized more than 77 million fentanyl pills and nearly 12,000 pounds of fentanyl powder – the most the DEA has ever seized in a single year. The quantity translates to more than 386 million deadly doses of fentanyl – enough to kill more than everyone in the United States. I recently read a book by Angela Duckworth called, “GRIT”. She defines grit as "sticking with things over the very long term until you master them." She asserts that high achievement isn't reserved for the talented only, but for those with passion and perseverance. On Saturday morning, October 7th, Israeli citizens woke up to the sound of rockets being fired upon them by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group. He’s one of the people who control most of our nation’s money through our retirement accounts and investment stocks and he’s determined to FORCE OUR BEHAVIORS to value what they want us to. Blackrock, Vanguard, State Street, and all the other big financial companies are pushing ESG Investing (environment, social and governance investing). VP Kamala Harris took a trip to Florida to decry the new black history curriculum that Florida is teaching. In her speech she blasts Ron Desantis and Florida for teaching lies to students. She says they are pushing propaganda to students by teaching that slaves benefited from slavery. The reality is that the curriculum has over 190 passages that teaches about the evil and horrors of slavery. Yet VP Harris chose to gaslight the public over one comment that said; “In some instances, slaves developed skills which could be applied for their personal benefit.” I’m tired of all the race baiting to keep black people emotional because that makes us easier to control.

Satan wants our children and he is using social media, the school system, and negligent parents to achieve this goal. That’s what Irwin Lutzer says in his book, No Reason to Hide. The strategy is to divide children from their parents by any means possible. He’s trying to confuse our kids on matters of faith, sexuality, and race and while they are confused he will step in and try to indoctrinate them with his secular worldview. God intends for parents to pass our faith on to our children. We must be intentional in order for this to happen.

This past week, Tony Dungy spoke at the Rally for Life event in Washington DC. As a part of his speech he mentioned that millions of people got together and called on God because a life was at stake and they wanted to see that life saved. He was talking about Damar Hamlin, the NFL player that collapsed on the field. He then went on to say that everyday, lives are at stake, speaking of the millions of babies being aborted everyday, who are still important in the eyes of God. Many called on him to be fired for these comments. That’s ridiculous. We talk about this situation in this episode of our podcast.

Social justice teaches us that there are some things that happen in our society that we should all become outraged about. You may not have known the official definition so we will lay it out. Moral outrage is justifiable anger, disgust, or frustration directed toward others who violate ethical values or standards. Although this sounds good, in this episode of the podcast, Pastor Alex breaks down what is at the root of moral outrage and why he thinks we need to be on guard.

As Christians our worldview should be shaped by what the Bible teaches since we view the Bible as our ultimate source of Truth. There are a lot of worldviews that come at us and many are hidden. We need you to be aware of these hidden worldviews so that we can readily identify them and figure out what our response to them should be.

The incident resulted in the Florida Gators pulling their scholarship offer. Universal Studios recently released a movie called “BROS”. It’s supposedly a romantic-comedy that is trying to normalize the LGTBQ lifestyle and agenda. The movie had a terrible opening weekend, performing far less than expectations. The writer/movie lead blames the audience for not showing up to support their well-reviewed gay rom-com, claiming that too many of us are homophobic weirdos. Are you “pro-life or pro-choice?” That phrase seems to frame this choice in a more palatable way, which has made it a little less egregious and evil. It’s time for us to call it for what it is, killing babies.

These girls have trained their whole life for this opportunity to have it now snatched away.We must all collectively speak out against biological males competing in women’s sports. We must protect Women’s Sports!
Being offended is inevitable, but living offended is a choice. Mike Burnette is the Pastor of LifePoint Church in Clarksville, TN. In 2018, they were labeled as the fastest-growing church in America. Pastor Mike became the Lead Pastor in 2010 when LifePoint had about 85 people. Today, they have a multicultural congregation with over 5,000 people attending each week. That’s very impressive, but even more interesting to us is that his church is a diverse church. Thirty-five percent of their congregation is non-white.
