In this episode of The Diana Show, I’m getting real about something so many of us struggle with—but rarely say out loud: investing in ourselves.

Why is it that we’ll move mountains for everyone else in our lives, but when it comes to our own dreams and goals, we hesitate? I talk about the ways we’ve been conditioned to put ourselves last, the mental load of multitasking, and how easy it is to lose sight of who we are underneath the caregiving, career-building, and people-pleasing.

We’ll dig into the fear of being judged, the guilt of wanting more, and the quiet, powerful decision to stop abandoning ourselves. I also share practical ways to start prioritizing your own goals again—and how doing so can be the boldest, most beautiful example you set for your kids, your friends, and your future self.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re cheering everyone else on but holding yourself back, this one’s for you. Let’s talk about how to reclaim our voice, our time, and our vision—together. 💛

Takeaways

Women often struggle to justify spending on themselves.

The 'good girl trap' can hinder women's decision-making.

Multitasking may lead to busyness without progress.

Self-abandonment can stem from childhood conditioning.

Fear of judgment can prevent women from pursuing their goals.

Modeling boldness is essential for future generations.

Investing in oneself is a form of generational healing.

Community support can create momentum for personal growth.

Self-awareness is the first step to change.

Women are worthy of pursuing their dreams.

Let’s talk about something that so many women wrestle with—but don’t always say out loud: why is it so dang hard to invest in ourselves?

In this episode, I’m digging into the real (and slightly messy) reasons we tend to put everyone else’s needs, dreams, schedules, and snack preferences ahead of our own. From societal conditioning and chronic multitasking to good old-fashioned fear of judgment, we unpack all the reasons we self-abandon... and how to stop doing that.

This isn’t just about spa days and self-care candles (although, yes, those are nice too). It’s about actually making room for your goals, your voice, your joy—and not feeling guilty about it.

I share what I’ve learned about building self-awareness, standing boldly in your truth (even when it ruffles feathers), and why investing in your growth isn’t just for you—it’s for the generations of women watching you do it.

If you've ever felt like you need permission to prioritize your own dreams, this is it. No more waiting. No more apologizing. Let’s be the kind of women who go after what we want—and bring others with us.

View Details

Let’s talk about the awkward truth—sometimes, the people we love the most don’t totally get us when we start chasing big dreams or making bold changes.

In this episode, I’m digging into the weird emotional terrain of what happens when you decide to grow, evolve, invest in yourself... and your family or friends respond with blank stares, side-eyes, or flat-out resistance. Been there? Me too.

Here’s the deal: it’s not always personal. Sometimes your growth shines a light on someone else’s stuck-ness, and that can feel uncomfortable—for them. But that doesn’t mean you have to shrink yourself to keep things comfortable.

We’re talking about why people sometimes pull away when you start stepping into your next level, how to keep showing up for your vision anyway, and why finding a supportive community (even if you have to build it from scratch) is so dang important.

This is your permission slip to stop waiting for everyone else’s approval and start owning your path—loudly, proudly, and without apology.

Because let’s be honest: the ones who really love you? They'll catch up eventually. And if not? You’ll be too busy living your best life to notice.

This week, I’m sharing something really personal—my journey of recovery after major surgery and what it’s taught me about movement, healing, and asking for help (ugh, the hardest part, right?). Being forced to slow down was humbling, frustrating, and surprisingly enlightening. I couldn’t do the things I usually do to take care of everyone else, and that forced me to finally start taking care of me.

I talk about the mental rollercoaster of not feeling like myself, the emotional weight of not being able to move freely, and how finding tiny, doable ways to stay active slowly brought me back to life. Spoiler alert: I didn’t run a marathon. I did walk to the mailbox and call it a win.

This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt stuck, off track, or just plain exhausted. Movement doesn’t have to be a big sweaty production—it can be gentle, joyful, and exactly what your body and soul need.

If you’ve been going through something hard, or just need a reminder that baby steps are still steps, you’re not alone. Come join me in this messy, beautiful recovery story. I promise it comes with laughs, real talk, and a whole lot of heart.

In this episode, I’m diving into the power of gratitude, the sneaky trap of comparison, and the magic of self-reflection. I’ve been thinking a lot about how easy it is to overlook our own growth when we’re constantly measuring ourselves against others or society’s expectations. So today, I’m sharing how practicing gratitude has helped me stay grounded and truly appreciate where I am—right now, not just where I’m going. If you’ve ever felt like you’re not doing enough or being enough, this one’s for you. Let’s remind ourselves of our worth, celebrate our wins (big and small), and enjoy the beautiful, messy journey of life.

Comparison can diminish our joy and self-worth.

It's essential to reflect on personal growth over time.

Let’s Talk About Anxiety (a.k.a. That Uninvited Guest Who Never Brings Snacks)

In this episode, I’m getting real about something that’s been a part of my life for a long time: anxiety. Not the kind you get when you forget to reply to a group text (although, yes, that too)... I’m talking about the heavier kind—the buzzing-in-your-chest, overthinking-everything, “why am I crying in the break room?” kind.

I share what it’s looked like for me over the years, how it still shows up sometimes (usually at the worst possible moment), and the things I’ve learned to do that actually help me feel more like myself again.

We’ll talk about triggers, tools, and why sometimes the best medicine is just a good laugh or a walk with someone who gets it. If you’ve ever felt like your brain is playing emotional whack-a-mole, this one’s for you.

So grab a cup of something comforting, and come hang out with me. You’re not alone, and you’re definitely not broken. We’re figuring this out together—one deep breath and belly laugh at a time.

Diana shares her personal journey with anxiety.

Recognizing anxiety is the first step to coping.

It's important to differentiate between life struggles and anxiety.

Self-care is crucial when dealing with anxiety.

Hey friends,

In today’s episode, I got to sit down with someone who truly inspired me—Robyne Wood, the powerhouse behind Robin’s Nest, a nonprofit that supports homeless and at-risk high school students. Her story is moving, her mission is powerful, and the impact she’s making is nothing short of incredible.

We talked about what led her to start Robin’s Nest, how the organization has grown, and the real-life transformation she’s seen in the students they serve. Robyne shares how her team teaches life skills, builds trust, and helps kids find their own unique version of success—even when the odds are stacked against them.

She also opens up about navigating the challenges of COVID, what this work has meant to her on a personal level, and how it’s affected her family in all the best ways. We also chat about how important community support, donations, and volunteers are in keeping the mission going strong.

This conversation really reminded me of the power we each have to make a difference. I hope it does the same for you.

Hey friends,

This episode is a love letter to the incredible men who’ve shaped me—and so many of us—through their steady presence, quiet strength, and unconditional love. I’m reflecting on the impact of fathers, and sharing some personal stories about my own dad and the beautiful lessons I’ve learned from the way he showed up in my life.

We talk about what it really means to be a father—not just biologically, but emotionally and spiritually. Whether it’s a dad, a stepdad, an adoptive father, or a father figure, the influence these men have on our confidence, our resilience, and our sense of self is immeasurable.

I truly believe that when fathers are engaged, loving, and supportive, it creates a ripple effect that touches every part of a child’s life—from emotional well-being to academic success. And it’s not just about the kids—great fathers are incredible partners, too. I’ve seen that firsthand in my own marriage and in the lives of friends who are raising children with men who show up every single day.

This episode is full of love, gratitude, and celebration. It’s for the dads who are doing the work, who are present and consistent, and who might not always hear how much they matter—but they do. So much.

With love,
Diana

In this episode, I had the opportunity to sit down with the brilliant Dr. Jade Jette, a pelvic floor therapist whose passion for women’s health truly radiates. Our conversation was both enlightening and empowering as we explored a topic that is so often overlooked—pelvic health.

Dr. Jade walked me through the anatomy and functions of the pelvic floor in such an accessible and compassionate way. We talked about the common issues so many women quietly struggle with—things like incontinence, pain, and postpartum changes—and how education and awareness can be the first step toward healing.

What I loved most was hearing about Jade’s personal journey into this field. Her deep sense of purpose and commitment to helping women heal from the inside out was so inspiring. She shared powerful success stories from her practice that gave me chills—stories of women who found relief, confidence, and even joy again through pelvic floor therapy.

We also talked about the importance of advocacy—how vital it is for women to speak up, ask questions, and seek the care they deserve. Jade is such a strong voice for accessibility, and she shed light on how pelvic floor therapy is becoming more available through insurance and other resources.

This conversation was a beautiful reminder that true wellness starts within. I walked away feeling more informed, more inspired, and even more committed to helping women find the support they need to feel strong, whole, and deeply connected to their bodies.

I can’t wait for you to hear her wisdom.

So... I went from slaying hair with a round brush to slaying stories behind a mic (well, trying to). In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my not-so-smooth transition from decades of running salons to diving headfirst into the world of podcasting, public speaking, and coaching—with equal parts excitement and what-the-heck-am-I-doing energy.

I talk about the weird mind games that come with comparing yourself to people who’ve been doing this forever, the sweaty vulnerability of putting your voice out there, and how I built confidence one awkward recording at a time. You’ll hear about my love for documenting women’s stories, why messing up on mic is part of the charm, and how embracing the ups and downs has actually been kind of magical.

If you’ve ever felt like the new kid at a very loud lunch table, this episode is for you. Let’s laugh at my mistakes (there are plenty), celebrate the wins, and remind ourselves that starting something new is supposed to feel a little wobbly—and a lot brave.

In this episode, I had the absolute joy of chatting with Kelsey Cook—mama, entrepreneur, and all-around powerhouse—about what it really looked like to start a business in the middle of a global pandemic. (Because, you know, some of us made sourdough… and others built empires.)

Kelsey opened up about the wild ride of launching her business while navigating the daily rollercoaster of motherhood. And let me just say: this woman is a force. We talked about the reality of building something from scratch during one of the most uncertain times in recent history, all while changing diapers, answering emails, and trying to remember the last time she drank water that wasn’t cold coffee.

What really stuck with me was her honesty around boundaries—like, the kind that protect your energy and your time and your sanity. She shared how she learned (sometimes the hard way) to say no, delegate, and guard her creative space so she could actually build something sustainable.

We also dug into:

  • The emotional resilience it takes to hear tough feedback and keep going anyway
  • The magic of creating curriculum that actually lights kids up
  • How building a business stretched her, changed her, and helped her grow in ways she didn’t expect
  • Why surrounding yourself with a solid team is everything when you’re wearing 47 hats

This episode is full of wisdom, real talk, and a whole lot of heart. Whether you're a mom, a dream-chaser, or someone trying to keep it all together with a messy bun and a to-do list, Kelsey’s story will remind you that you’re capable of so much more than you think—even in the middle of chaos.

Give it a listen. You’re going to love her.

Kelsey started her business out of a need during COVID.

She created a curriculum for preschoolers that gained popularity.

The importance of having a supportive team is crucial for growth.

Setting boundaries is essential for balancing work and motherhood.

Okay, so let’s talk about imposter syndrome—my old frenemy. Yep, I’ve been there, standing backstage wondering, “Who let me have a microphone?” But over time, I’ve learned that prep is everything. Seriously, preparation is like emotional armor. The more I prepare, the less I panic… usually.

And here's the real kicker: those butterflies? They're not your enemies. I’ve started to see them as tiny, overly enthusiastic fans doing backflips in my stomach. Nervousness just means I care, and honestly, I’d be more worried if I didn’t feel anything before going onstage.

It’s been a journey of learning to accept myself, quirks and all, and figuring out how to channel all that pre-talk anxiety into energy that actually fuels me instead of frying me. Public speaking is still scary sometimes, but now I kinda love that thrill. Like riding a rollercoaster... except you’re the one steering it.

Takeaways

Imposter syndrome is a common experience, even for seasoned professionals.

Preparation can help alleviate feelings of anxiety and self-doubt.

Emotions, including nervousness, are natural and can be managed.

Self-acceptance and grace are crucial in overcoming personal challenges.

It's important to recognize that excitement and nervousness can coexist.

Having a support system can boost confidence before public speaking.

Practicing vulnerability can lead to personal growth and connection with others.

Setting up a familiar environment can ease anxiety before performances.

Acknowledging past experiences can help build confidence for future endeavors.

Taking control of one's emotions is key to effective communication.

We dove into her journey from ambitious entrepreneur to organizational guru, and let’s just say—building an empire is not for the faint of heart or the disorganized. Jennifer opened up about the highs, the lows, and the all-important role of community support, plus she spilled some serious wisdom on mindful shopping (because, yes, you can say no to another pair of black leggings). We also got into how family plays into her business, and her amazing initiative, Closets for a Cause, proving that giving back is always in style.

Speaking negatively to yourself only blocks you from learning from your behaviors and prevents you from giving yourself Grace which ultimately is what you need to get healthy. #healthymom #momlife #momdiet #healthjourney #momhealth

Have you ever found in yourself in that ugly place where you are judging others? I have. I’ve observed it as a habit and I’ve been trying to examine my judgement journey and at the same time not fall and too much judgment about myself for being judge mental. There are lots of reasons that we fall into judgment attitudes! Are we worried about a child who is under performing? Is it because we are worried about a loved one who was fell into addiction? How about our community members who are homeless that we pass on the street every day? When we stop to examine whether or not our judgment is serving anyone it is eye opening what we find at the bottom of the judgement barrel. #judgement #judgementalmom #personalgrowth #personaldevelopment #momlife

I’ve been ashamed because I didn’t know exactly who Michael Brown was when I initially interviewed her. As soon as she told me his name, I quickly Googled his name only to find out that he was THE Michael Brown that had lost his life in Ferguson, MO. - the case that rocked our country years ago. I’ve thought a lot about this interview for the last month. About how much I love our country because it has always been fair to me and my family. I’ve thought about how the relationship I’ve had with law enforcement has worked great for me. Now I’m realizing just how opposite it is for too many families. Our great country isn’t fair for all of us, it’s not working for all of us. Our government isn’t protecting all of us. I’m also coming to terms with the fact that if it isn’t working for ALL of us, NONE of us should be satisfied.

Auri arrived on the scene later in the day than me, the energy she brought was captivating. I couldn’t take my eyes off her! She was on the bullhorn, settling down the agitation between groups, giving a blessing over a little black baby, and most importantly leading in such a way that she put conversation and education first. She is a modern day hero! Have a listen and you might fall in love with this strong female leader just as I have!

Part 3/3 - Devin Johnson is a father, a husband, and from just a few generations back, a descendent of black slaves and their white masters. He himself can pass for white, however he knows the importance of knowing his heritage and passing it onto his children. This three part conversation combines intellect, vulnerability, and honesty about what it’s like to be frustrated to see racism still existing and what we can do to help. Suffice it to say, I learned a lot about race relations (and just life) from this phenomenal human!

Jade Turner Bond explains why her and her husband Elliott bought in HB and quickly realized they would prefer to live elsewhere. This discussion is hopeful, it’s sad, it’s digging deep into the reasons that Black people often feel uncomfortable in our hometown. I’m grateful that Jade was willing to have an honest conversation about where we are at with race issues in the town that we love. We cannot fix what we continue to ignore.

In this episode I chat about wanting more, needing a creative outlet and how that’s perfectly normal and ok to feel this way. Enjoy!

How conversations with my Father, who was long ago preparing with his fellow classmates to go serve his country in Vietnam, has really helped to put the COVID-19 crisis into perspective. There is nothing wrong with feeling my feelings. I can’t deny that I feel down about my children missing out on the end of their senior year, eighth grade year and school year.
