This week’s guest is Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston. He’s an NHL insider who can be seen on Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts Saturday nights. He’s covered a bunch of Stanley Cup finals and Olympics. And he recently completed a marathon while raising funds in support of the organization Conquer Covid-19.
The latest guests on The Scrum Podcast are Christian Polanco and Alexis Guereros, also known as The Cooligans. Christian and Alexis are New York City stand-up comedians that started a podcast which claims to be “the funniest and the gulliest” soccer show in the land. Their podcast led to their own television show “The Cooligans” on Fubo TV. They also host “The Prem Show,” a Premier League podcast live on their Twitch channel.

The latest guest on The Scrum Podcast is Olivier Brett. If you’re a soccer fan from Montreal, you probably know him already. He was the colour commentator of the inaugural Montreal Impact MLS broadcast team on TVA Sports before moving to RDS where he started his play-by-play career. He is one of the few who has done play-by-play in both French and English thanks to his work on TSN690AM in Montreal. He is now the play-by-play commentator for the new CF Montreal radio broadcasts on 91.9 Sports as well as being one of the three hosts of RDS’ new quiz show Les Trois Étoiles.

Sam Stejskal is a staff writer for The Athletic. Stejskal has contributed heavily to stories on The Athletic about Major League Soccer’s plans to return to action in Orlando. Recently, the Athletic was mentioned in a memo released by MLS threatening clubs with disciplinary action for leaking information. Brock McGillis is a former pro hockey goalie who spent time with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League, the Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League, as well as Concordia University Stingers men’s hockey team. McGillis is also the first pro hockey player to come out as gay. McGillis, along with former Montreal Impact midfielder David Testo, and speedskater Anastasia Buscis were the subjects in a Canadian documentary film called Standing On The Line. The film looks at the issues of homophobia in the world of sport. He joins us to break down the issues of conformity within sports, toxic masculinity, and the patriarchy, and shares his story.

The team was making its way to Nipawin, Saskatchewan for a playoff game. The collision sent both vehicles into a ditch located at the intersection they met at. Dave Deibert (@davedeibert) is an online editor at The Saskatoon StarPhoenix and mixed-martial-arts reporter for the Postmedia News chain.
