In today's episode of The Lavender Podcast I am excited to interview Angelina Octavia who is a self taught painter and teacher who sells her art online and at markets and studios in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Her preferred mediums are oil, watercolor, and gouache. Over the past 10 years while she raised her two babies, as she’d take them out on daily walks and grew a new appreciation for wildlife and plants. It brings her so much joy to share what she has learned about birds and nature through her art. She teaches lavender watercolor classes in the summer at Wayward Winds Lavender Farm, as well as lessons at wineries, and private one-on-one or group class.

Visit the show notes at Waywardwindslavender.com to download Angelina's FREE PDF of her botanical lavender print card. It's pretty enough to frame!

I need to make one correction of information from this episode. We mention the Willamette Valley Lavender Festival and Plein Air Art Show. This festival is always the second full weekend in July and brings together farms, vendors, and artists. Find out more information at Chehalem Cultural Center’s website .*

Too much chaos. Can I get an AMEN?! Schooling from home, building a house, Halloween disappointments, COVID fatigue, parenting & my marital relationship. It all feels overwhelming. To top it off I've been feeling like I've wasted my life & I'll never accomplish much because I can't seem to stay focused long enough to do anything worthwhile. I can't blog constantly. I can't podcast constantly, I can't even meal plan constantly. How will I ever even come close to success in anything?! Ugh...enter Melody Beattie & her devotional for Codependency. I swear this woman is hiding in my closet listening to my life, because she nearly always hits the nail on the head for me. Peace first...then proceed...she says...nothing worth doing is truly accomplished out of chaos. Hmmm...I got some work to do. How about you?

My journey has brought me to a place of learning self-compassion. I have finally, after 4 years, picked up Kristin Neff's book on this topic & am going through her steps, because if I have learned anything it is that shame causes people to not show up. I need to show up for myself, my family & my world. Now,more than ever, I need to learn self compassion & to model it. I started with a letter to myself committing to being my own best friend.

Hold on to your girdles girls (guys & anyone else) this app will blow your mind 🤯. This could quite possibly be the key to where I keep going wrong (and likely where you might be struggling too) & it is so simple. It is also mortifying. Turns out we all have multiple minds. It's just most of us can maintain control over them so as not to need medical attention. However, these multiple parts of us are still effecting our lives and recognizing their existence & the parts they play in protecting our vulnerable person may help us manage our mind better, by growing & maturing our Lead Self, which we can trust because it is that of God in us. Today I share a brief intro to Internal Family Systems Therapy as far as I understand it. I'm no expert, but this model has been very helpful to me in my own journey to be the best me I can be. If you are interested in learning more about Internal Family Systems Therapy I encourage you to listen to "The Sum of Our Parts" by Richard Schwartz on Audible or visit the website at https://ifs-institute.com/ From Kristen, With Love
